I’m not going to go as far to say Irenio has chosen a favorite profession and doesn’t care about Scrapper, that’s a bit too tin foil hat for me.
Where I will agree is that Druid looks like a solid finished Elite Specialization. Scrapper looks like a decent regular Specialization. That is a bummer. Gyros need major help. Because it seems like Irenio doesn’t share the concerns we have over gyros I’m worried BWE3 will come and go and we’ll see:

Give us a trait that allows us to stack up a small army of weaker blast gyros no aoe knock back but decently high damage like per crit we stack up charges after 5 charges we spawn a gyro that follows us and detonates on your target when you strike them like a gyro version of bunker down or something.
-make the gyros first off more durable… they are in MELEE range
-reduce the CD for all of em.. cept maybe sneak..
-make it a risky move to actually destroy them.. with huge buffs for the scrapper
and\or painfull consequences for the enemie who did it or is in a certain range
-reduce the ICD for the mechanic to 5-10 secs and make the rezzing gyro suicide
onto the enemie after the rez and buffing the teammate like it does now
-make the stomping gyro do a knockback arround it before stomping and then nuke itself for a painfull aoe attack
-make the purge clear more conditions and make it do in a bigger aoe and more often
-make the medic explode like the HT once destroyed by the enemie (and not by the scrapper on command) with slightly reduced healing but condition removal like the HT does
-make the sneak stealth itself for a few seconds after deploying and if destroyed by the enemie let it release a big smoke field with blind pulsing
-make the blast actually do a blast finish, make it apply massive vun at impact
-make reconstruction field remove 2 conditions at activation for all in its radius
-make bypass coating give 3 secs of protection
-make chemical field give resistance while standing in it
-make defensive field add retailiation for 5 secs

Come on guys have some hope at least sheesh Scrapper is not bad at all gyros need work and he has been paying attention too our input. The only problems engineers have that I have seen is our core specializations with traits that are severely lacking compared to others this new balance change might actually fix a lot of them and that would buff scrapper as well. If you guys didn’t notice one of the changes was already shown in the pvp 101 with scrapper evasive powder keg now deals 25% increased damage in addition to a blast finisher and looks like the icd was removed.
Irenio posted earlier this week here in the Engi forum. The only gyro he said was undertuned was the Heal.
I want to believe that he knows ALL the gyros have some fundamental problems that will keep them off a Scrapper’s utility bar (much like turrets, no… exactly like turrets) but he seemed to think Bulwark Gyro was okay with <12k health and low armor.
I’m sure he’s reading these forums a lot, but I’m not sure that he agrees with the majority about gyros being bad. That is frustrating to me and I can sum up why in one word: turrets. I really hope he sees that gyros need some way to stay alive for more than a couple hits, and some help on the cooldowns.
Ranger glyphs at 15s-20s cooldowns and gyros at more than 30s across the board? Ouch man, major ouch.
and glyphs change on the mechanic too… DOUBLE ouch. New pets that make our lockdown look pathetic TRIPLE ouch, visuals that bring a man to cry QUART ouch, mechanic that just removes all conditions by merely entering it QUINTUPLE ouch…

The glyphs.. the staff AND new pets that make our lockdown look like childs play.
What do we get? A (without question) amazing hammer, a class mechanic that got 30 second cooldown and a handfull of a.i skills that will get cleaved to death in melee and are grossly underpowered ontop of that (cept the elite, not gonna trashtalk the sneak and his toolbelt)…the place THE DARN SPEC BRINGS US. Also 2 minor traits only dedicated to the mechanic. Boy… ouch Irenio…that was not cool..
Yeah i’d be careful with how amazing you call it. Tool kit as it stands fills the exact same niche, lacking only a lower cooldown whirl.
its still pretty much the best melee weapon skills i can imagine for a for engi made weapon. Not gonna trashtalk the kits and especially not TK… that thing is my bae

Yea.. other races need lore spotlight… im a charr player and the last time i had ANYTHING to do with the iron legion was…like you said at lvl 20. I get it.. sylvari are the favs of a-net.. the new race they came up with for that game. Good enough…but there is like a brand going through a massive part of the world that leads to the crystal desert what should concern charr and humans alike, the asuran and skritt got pushed to the surface cause of of the destroyers, the norn and kodan got that little frostbite issue up in the north and god knows whats going on underwater…but nope.. (technically cause of scarlets plans) almost 3 years of sylvari stuff. Whats like you said the white mantle up to..and the shining blade? Heck that would be interresting to see. Whats going on in the crystal desert? Whats going on with the legions? Or better said whats going on in the blood legion homelands? A new charr khan-ur like warlord marching into tyria and nobody is alright with that (including the citadel charr)? The dwarfs alright down there fighting ol primo or do they need help from the “surface dwellers”? The asura getting their turf back? The kodan and norn arming up to lay the smack down on jormag? Nope.. plants and their angsts and the story of the true hero of tyria… yea.. wasnt enough that one saved orr…nope, whole LS building up to a whole X-pac concerning only one race for real. Heck as they introduced for a few minutes a charr metallurgist in the pact camp i had a girly “squeee”…that was my nice thing for the past year..well and glints lair…eh.. well and the really creepy watchwork minions and clockwork stuff scarlet brought to the table, loved em…cause atleast that was mechanical. Oh well.. atleast there is only one sylvari related dragon…and lets hope there is another expansion coming who takes some other race into spotlight. Surely wont be charr cause a-net doesnt like em..but i can go for a mug of norn beer or some krytan cheese… enough salad for now.

Oh wow now we are talking. Thanks for the update Irenio…total bro move right there…just please keep us informed and updated in the future too. Sure.. druid is now equally important to fix and get out…but if you drop in here and there and just talk to us there would be a LOT less tension in the engi hellpit…eh.. forum i mean. Also if you can please stick arround after the x-pac hits and the scrapper is balanced, there is a lot of other engi skills that got some stuff that should be talked out.

that’s what I did with my Hunter, because I wanted that one and not the Predator. It felt like having the cake and eating it too!
i kept my hunter.. got it since my first month of playing. Was on my way to arah on my story..still disgruntled cause i lost tybalt, out for revenge basically…and some random kittenbag risen who couldnt take the hint that im not interrested in his anchor or his sick moves dropped it…like right out of nowhere. Didnt even know what a precursor was..but yeap…kept it, used it and went to hell and back with it.
On the other hand… i got the tooth of frostfang from a charr effigy…yea.. a frozen axe from a giant burning wicker man. Love the logic of gw2. I sold that one and it funded my hammer pre..and now i got the juggernaut. Good times..
with a-nets engi “love” id say none…none at all. But maybe chrome grenades with trail? Sorta like when you swing the juggernaut
Imo the sneak gyro is more of a… surprise bag of hurt. You know something is coming.. you just dont know what and how many.. and if they are even coming all with the scrapper or split up and flank…or whatever else is going on under the shroud of the gyro, might be some scrapper rezzing an ally…or a couple of dudes buffing themselfes to hercules levels….or nothing at all and the scrapper is just a kitten and distracts you from the real threat. Also eventually the scrapper will reach you…nuke the darn thing, stun your face off and then you might be in a world of hurt.
Not sure bout pvp.. but i frankly dont give a darn about that mode. Bad enough that all my nice things hang in the nightmarish shadow of pvp that can strike with nerfs anytime again in the near future cause somebody screamed bloody murder.
Pve…ehhh.. might need some thing where it doesnt aggro enemies or got some form of self stealth for a brief time to make it work proper…but lets see what comes

looks to me like what would happen if the legendary greatswords make whoopy with the pact axe… Not really my personal thing.. but not ugly at all.
Before i get that stuff… id rather have equal quality on armors for charr and asura like any other race got. No stretching, no clipping, no blurry textures, helmets that take head features in account (specially charr necks that should be fully armored all the way down to the armor collar and not just cut off halfway down…also remember that charr got horns for once and asuras got quite large ears…lets not forget about those for once) and buttcapes\skirt bottoms\coats that are skinned over the tail like the mistward armor got…and clearly shows its possible to do. Most things like these just stop over the knees and are squished together in a weird way. Also helmets that respect the asuran ears and boots that cover all 3 toes. If we got all that THEN we can talk about putting the midgets and cats in dresses…thats my view on it
^ Yea.. thats what i fear the gyros gonna be turned into… mobile stun dispensers rather then active helpers to the scrapper and the group. Well sure…to nuke em is how the gyro do, but its a shame that it most likely gonna be like with the HT. QUICKLY nuke it or pick it up again before it gets destroyed and wait for CD. Sure.. thats its job but the gyros are obviosly from their abilities designed to be on the battlefield for a while. One heals a little, one removes condi…slowly but it does remove it, the next tanks for you, the other one is a constant whirl finisher dispenser…these things are MEANT to be active longer then 5 seconds…so they need to survive…specially with a cooldown of 30 seconds (cept blast with 25).
My idea to get this stuff fixed would be:
-A base health of 10k for all cept bulwark and blast, bulwark gets 20k and regen and blast stays how it is…cause its afterall meant to suicide and does actual harm so it needs counterplay.
- Cooldown starts THE MOMENT the gyro gets put on the field and not after its
and not after its destruction except for sneak.. cause it sure is powerfull with its
30 second stealth
- If the gyros actually share the boons with the scrapper they also should share a part of his heal..like 70%.
-If the scrapper dodges the gyros do too or get an evade with the same time span as a
normal dodge roll is with an ICD of 1 second
-Medic, sneak and purge stay behind the scrapper in melee combat out of reach of not specially at them aimed cleave attacks, also medic gets endure pain buff for atleast
6 seconds of its lifespan. Purge pulses his effect in an aoe radius arround it rather then flying towards allies and getting itself in the middle of a battle on purpose
…try making a charr that does not look like a tent on legs in medium armor
No this is sparta op. And yes.. the HT is overpowered.. but we can have atleast some nice things right?

Perhaps wait until you’ve had a chance at least to test them before making suggestions on how to improve something you’ve never tried?
Cause we first of only got ONE beta weekend to get this spec on its feet to be fun and viable for all 3 game modes and given the speed the engi devs balance\fix this class this might be our only chance to get stuff fixed in the next few months, and second off cause we saw what the spec does and we got some understanding of the game by now to guess if something can or cannot work out in theory.
anyways… here are my ideas:
Medic: Gets an endure pain like effect for itself…not the scrapper obviosly also gyro
heal gets buffed by 100%
Purge: clears 3 conditions and toolbelt aoe gives resistance while the field is active
that way you can cleanse conditions with projectile finishers and the gyro
and be immune to them for a short period.
Bulwarg: double the life points and comes with a defiance bar that survives 2 CC
cause else this gyro doesnt survive a second in any group content
Blast: higher knockback and blast finisher added aswell 4 secs of superspeed on toolbelt
Shredder: indestructable cause it cant move anyways
Sneak: self stealth for 5 secs on deploy to use it to escape stuff or get a short breather

Why not increase the aoe and just give the auto attack a 1 sec cripple it would match a more realistic mortar.
cause its a-net.. and especially engineer devs who love to do weird stuff to everything nice. Just give back what you stole and dont try to improve it…always ends in a mess.
Hey don’t worry we are engineers heck I was a combat engineer in real life we will adapt we always do.
maybe i dont want to adapt for once, maybe i want to have something perfectly nice and working that can replace certain other kits for once. Id surely love a perfectly viable ranged kit thats not named grenade kit. Mortar was perfect for that till they nerfed the auto. Now i just use it to shoot fields to blast em or aggro certain mobs before i switch back to my rifle. With the upcoming scrapper ill be pretty much heavy on melee and ill need different utilities for that. The mortar would make a perfect ranged option…if it wouldnt be so pathetic weak in direct damage compared to nades. But alas.. its atleast a nice field dispenser and the toolbelt is amazing
I feel you there honestly I think something like nade kit should be changed. The reason why its so powerful is it hits 3 times thats 3 chances too proc sigils and traits. They should change it too one grenade per throw adjust the damage so its almost the same have it give 1 stack of vuln base and you get another through the trait. change nade barrage to be about the same damage but only 5 nades thrown have it throw 1 of each grenade so it has some play with condition builds increase its cd too 30 sec just some ideas.
The mortar just needs to hit harder (like it did before) and maybe the fields (cept 5 obviosly) should pulse some damage or have some impact damage and all is good. It got the “advance”(if you look at it from my perspective) that it does not take up an utility skill slot. No need to “waste” a slot for a nade kit if you want a ranged option in your “mostly” melee setup and hey.. mortar comes with a blast finish on toolbelt…or two if you trait for it. Nades are fine how they are right now, just the mortar should be atleast in AA damage rival the nades, thats all id want. I wouldn’t mind the damage portion back since its a terrible kit for procs and should be able to do some burst at longer ranges if you hit someone not sure why it was nerfed in the first place max I was able to crit for was 6k on autos with might and vuln , but you can do that with grenade autos under the same conditions.
Imo it was nerfed cause they noticed they gave engineer a viable long range option that worked pretty darn good in wvw to tag people in zergfests while putting down frost and poison aoe and water fields to support the frontliners or just surpressed the enemies on the walls with quite painfull attacks and in pve for engineers who jumped into the back rows for a moment to have a breather, refill their stamina, heal up or just prefer to be max range for a moment cause their close combat rotations are on CD or other reasons. Nobody can tell me they nerfed it cause of pvp.. cause seriosly.. you can dodge a mortar at 1000 range with side stepping or reflect the shell back with ease.

^ cause they are afraid they are one day not meta\needed anymore and pushed into the 2nd row like other classes had for far too long.
Its a 1000 range gap closer, a triple leap finisher, an evade and does decent damage ontop of it… id say thats pretty darn fine for 10 secs CD
the bulwark needs quite a lot more health and a defiance bar and its ready to roll out.

eh.. just make em move faster to keep up with the scrapper and this shouldnt be an issue. Ranger pets move by your side or really close to you rather then behind you. Make it like this and this should be fixed quite easily

Its visible cause the fella pumps out 30 secs of stealth on a 30 sec cooldown. Is more meant to be a surprise bag of hurt. Whats under the gyro stealth? A scrapper for sure…but what is if he isnt alone?…Hmmm? Wanna risk it?

Human: Everything.. dont got too much personality so its easy to fit em into every role
Norn: War, Guard and Ranger seems to fit em the best, specially with the zerker
and the druid coming
Sylvari: Mesmer, Thief and Ranger imo
Asura: Pretty much all spellcasters and especially ele …and engi if you stretch their
technology a bit…but with the scrapper its not too far off golems anymore
Charr: Wars and engineers cause thats what a charr does basically…ehh thief if you
count in the ash legion…specially if sharpshooter ever becomes a thief spec
^ But thiefes dont drag a clearly visible gyro behind them in stealth. You know that there is a scrapper coming and you also sorta know that he is gonna try to stun you once he goes out of stealth cause thats how the gyro does his…gyro stuff. You will also know sorta where he is when running away cause the drone stays rather close to the scrapper no matter what. If he got somebody else cloaked under the gyro…well thats a different theme.
And its not like engineers cant stealth. Bomb kit got a smoke field and elixir-s can stealth too if you toss it…so its nothing new, just longer and got a clear indicator that its certainly atleast one scrapper hiding nearby the gyro

So… that would be my personal opinion on things so far, i reserve my judgement for the traits till i actually worked with them and tested em proper in the next beta…
….well for a melee setup the gyros are pretty darn…weird. Is like you would go into battle with a sledgehammer and ming vases. One or two strong cleave attacks or a well placed aoe and the gyros are shot to the moon.
Also the stealth one is pretty darn useless in pve like it is right now. Stealth sorta should do the opposide of drawing aggro and with a gyro..especially a squishy one its the opposide of viable. Imagine you stealth yourself to rez a teammate in peace or want to escape melee for a moment to heal up and stealth to do so…guess what the enemie will do. They showed the issue pretty perfect on the pvp battles against the…i believe its a jotun…eh whatever back to the point. The dude made a bee line for the drone and hit the stealthed engi pretty darn hard right away too. If id use a stealth gyro in battle then this is the opposide of what id want to happen…specially on an engi who does not use the thief thingy where you attack out of stealth for extra damage or whatever that does.. not a thief player myself. Imo the stealth drone should atleast have a few seconds of self stealth if you deploy it. The toolbelt is really nasty (in a good way) and this surely can be very VERY usefull…more in wvw and pvp then pve..but yea good enough for my taste, thiefes and mesmers surely gonna hate that gyro a lot.
Yea i understand that something like this gyro needs a counterplay with its 30 second of stealth…so its imo fair the gyro got a life bar…but atleast squeeze in a few seconds of self stealth to make it count to either retreat from melee for a moment, just heal up in peace or revive an ally or something 6 secs or so maybe to have a buffer.
The bulwark one.. oh boy. Well if it NEEDS to have a life bar then it needs a LOT more health then that, wouldnt say twice… but close to twice the health. Specially in team related activities where enemies can hit like trucks this poor fella would be reduced to a pile of dust within a blink of an eye. I mean sure.. it takes half your abuse and your teams abuse…but still, it needs more life points then this. The toolbelt is usefull…if you need an extra reflect and 5 seconds duration is good too and it moves with you too. I maybe would add a light field to it..ya know some retailiation never hurt anybody…HA!
The blast gyro…heh the knockback is nasty and its unblockable too, i personally gonna have a lot of fun with that one. The health bar is understandable on this one…cause this is something you might want to not get in your face and its not blockable so you atleast got the chance to destroy it before it knocks your teeth out, a blast finish would be nice on it though. I mean its 25 secs recharge so a blast finish should be in the budget. Toolbelt skill with insta super speed? Sure…but maybe 4 secs instead of 3?
Also was it me or did this one take its sweet time to actually explode? Might be something to take a look at too..
Master shredder gyro… the yellow menace, clearly my personal favourite…this nutcase goes crazy on combofields and gets put on the field with ground target…love it…but this one shouldnt have a health bar at all. This is a gyro you would want to get away from rather then just quickly use a cleave or two to get rid of it. The toolbelt is solid…but the life bar is out of place at this one. Maybe a small defiance bar that makes it explode once its empty would do the trick? Just tossing out ideas.
The purger…ehhhh… not really all that helpfull imo. It should clear 3 condies per pulse and spawn behind the scrapper, out of melee range….basically using the scrapper as a “meat shield” and doing its darn hardest to stay away from anything that could possible harm it, even when flying to allies it should play VERY save. The toolbelt is a “ehhh i guess it can be usefull” sort of deal to me…but not really sure where to put it atm. Prolly would be the best for me to do field tests before i really judge it.
The medic…boy oh boy healing turret you can ease up and go to bed…you wont get replaced that quick, not if the medic doesnt eat its plate of spinach in the next time. The little fella´s heal is not really that strong…well the toolbelt is wonderfull but i rather use a healing turret´s overcharge together with some hammer leaps and blast it at the same time for 1 or 2 leap heals and the usual detonation heal then to slot the medic in its current state. Maybe if the field would pulse some condi clear the thing would look a bit different…
Hammer… YES PLEASE, all of it over my body. Oil me up with this thing. No objections whatsoever. Love it so far, at the beta we will see how the numbers are then damage wise.
Also the art team coughed up a pretty darn epic skin for the hammer that looks like it hurts a lot..and the drone fellas are adorable so lets not leave that point out. Also no excuses anymore for crappy looking engi tech\armor skins..you showed you can do these visuals pretty darn good..so lets keep it on that. We good?

I’m sorry but I really can’t see this being something allowed to happen without an ICD.
It could be a decent duration for the Super Speed but I don’t think they’ll let this be stackable.Especially seeing how we have a Lightning Field + TRIPLE LEAP finisher on a single weapon.
…well maybe its just my desire to be wanted in groups and appreciated for once to made me go blind to that.. but yea you might be right. Im just personally sick of “but the ele can stack might better” and “this class can do that better” and the “kick the engi i got another ele” i had so long.
I don’t expect an insane ICD, I just don’t expect to be able to stack it incredibly. Seeing how we’re the class with all the blast finishers in the world.
well as long as i can stack it better and more frequent then the darn guards with their darn elite shout im already happy…

Yeap.. but they just cant blast a lighting field.. ANY lightning field to do that. Imagine a rev spamming his stone brick road and a… (ugh hate the name) scrapper doing blasts on it. Perma (or near perma) super speed
They are really turning us into somewhat of an anti-stealth specialist.
