pro tip: All skins in game are in your wardrobe that you can access through the bank. Even if you dont own the skin you still can preview it. This way you easily can browse through the weapon, armor and backpiece skins and check em out

I personally do not like Outfits, as you can not combine these items.
So I will not spend my money for them.
But I really hope that there will be some new and nice Armor that we can buy from the store.

Aint gonna happen, a-net made a blog that skins are exclusive to game rewards now and with the speed they dish that out…
Also the x-pac brings a pitifull amount of skins too… So draw your conclusions from that

I would pay too… in fact i did pay a LOT to collect any eventual skins they released on the gem store. I waited for each gem store release for anything new i could possible use to pimp out my chars. I bought some outfit only for its shoulders, the other one cause i liked it whole and as i grew weary of the look i just mixed em to get something completely new and cool out of it. I really liked getting new parts… but alas.. nice times are over. Here.. blogpost quote:

“During Living World Season 2, Crystin took charge of a new team that was organized to improve in-game rewards in Guild Wars 2. Previously, no single dedicated team handled in-game rewards, and individual content teams were responsible for deciding how players would be rewarded. Crystin felt there should be a greater balance between Gem Store item offerings and in-game rewards, and she and the rewards and commerce teams have worked on creating a clear division so that items will fit their method of distribution. For example, armor sets are now exclusively designed as in-game rewards while outfits are primarily Gem Store offerings. Her teams also designed the new transmutation system and helped work on the new wardrobe.”

Nice times are over..and with HoT we get 2 new armor sets, a handfull of loose skins and legendary armor…and 3 sets of weapons and thats it.

Scream as much as you want.. it aint gonna change it, i gave up long ago…

As for gw2 though.. gw1 brought me here. Played that game for quite a long time and eventually stopped cause of work and other things going on. Bout 2 years ago i decided that its time for me to dive back into the gw universe….and here i am…still going strong, bitter and very frustrated at days cause of certain issues a-net doesnt care about and things a-net does… but still there.. waiting for HoT…

Druid better be something special

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Basaltface.2786

Basaltface.2786

You know what would make the druid something to behold? If pets were turned into spirit versions that only appeared when you attack a with a pet attack or action. Basically removing the auto attack from pets and baking it into the ranger itself. That would solve one issue, but as Random said, there would still be the fact that Rangers offer nothing to a group.

Heck, anet could significantly increase the value of both engineers and rangers if they just turned several skills into combo fields.

… yea like engi wouldnt bring anything to the group. Dont insult us… with our fire fields, water fields, smoke fields, poison, frost and light fields we got 14 available fields… 15 if you count in that one of these is either light or smoke with a 50-50 chance and doubles as a wall of reflect on said light field and our arround 15 available blast finishers on skills, kits and weapons that allow for seamless support and additional ones through traits, our aoe heal(s) and pretty solid group condi removal if needed, our pretty darn good cc and good survivability aswell the ability to quickly adapt to pretty much almost every encounter and depending on who you ask highest condi damage in game at this point, sure the rotation is complex for that but possible…aswell pretty darn solid direct damage, especially with grenades and even the bomb kit and vun stacking on EACH explosive related attack…whats quite a lot. Also engi can stack might by just using elixir related skills on the team… just throwing that in. If you really think an engineer got no value to a team then i will point at you and laugh with pleasure and i suggest you to go to the wiki and atleast read what the engi skills do before you throw something THAT stupid on the table.

Less work for the same amount of money…

…sadly yea. Is still a painfull kick under the beltline…specially now with a whole expansion on the horizon that brings in so few new skins. The future is gloom. Nice times are over and there is nothing we(mix and matchers) can do about it. We cant hope for new gem store armor sets and with the pace they release new content we will get maybe 1 set per year. Ontop of that charr and asura will get abbysmal quality cause who gives a darn? Its technically “free” so screw them, no need to add holes for ears, tails and horns or proper 3 toed boots cause who cares? Isnt a-nets issue. Also who needs armor with some class flavour? With tribal armor there is a bigger problem for me, because there is no other set in this wild aesthetics to choose. If I want to play human elementalist in shamanic style (with Tempest overload I want it even more :P ) I just have no other tribal looking armor to wear. I don’t really care if they bring tribal back or put a different wild-looking armor, like gw1 tattoo etc., just give me something close to it. Tattoos being exlusive to norn is a misunderstanding IMO, srsly. Specially, if we can buy face tattoo or war painting in gemstore, so why no other body parts?

Anyway, Maguuma is a jungle, so it would be wierd not to offer any of these.. All clothes we have seen in HoT screens are very detailed plate-armors, that not what I expect from Maguuma (not only).

So please Anet, please..

Gem store will update frequently after release, I’m sure there will be plenty of themed armours for you.

What is YOUR hope for HoT?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Basaltface.2786

Basaltface.2786

I seriously hope HoT proves me wrong in every single way, that the expansion is actually not a blatant rip off for veteran players, and that it’s actually worth the money.

Oh, and for the Charr to get some recognition for being genocidal monsters before getting their magical 180.

And that the humans finally shut the Charr up and make them remember the Humans killed their gods for them.

But this is yet another Sylvari game, so the likelihood of that happening is low.

Well the charr never had said “180”. Abbadon commanded the titans to command the charr to invade the human kingdoms…especially ascalon what belonged to the charr before the humans drove em out. In fact its the humans who should be the ones getting their kitten together..and they technically already do thx to the truce the queen worked out. So yea.. technically its the humans and their gods fault that this even happened in the first place…just think about it. Id be mad too if you would kick me from my turf and claim it as yours. Also the charr seperated themselfes from anything “divine” and in fact banished the legion who did worship the titans and opressed their chicks… among other kitten moves. Their invention of the printing press also made the tyrian language available to all races… but lets not derail the topic.

My hopes included more love for mix and matchers, more focus on the other playable races and their technology, magic, lore and so on aswell as a full armor set for each specialisation to have some more mechanical pieces to work with for my main´s apperance and some more appealing engineer kits. Well.. i doubt anything like that is gonna happen… with the few skins we get, the constant sylvari cyrclejerking…and the focus on only giving npcs the nice stuff..like the flamethrower chick in the raids shows. Oh well.. i hope atleast the forge spec is gonna be fun to play…

the Topic. if you ask me, armors are just the same as outfits, the only difference is, the armor is more flexible then the outfits. XD stop whining, the 2 are the same but require different methods to ware them.

Yea and that “only difference” is what many people want. If you wanna look like a drone.. suit yourself, i wont judge, tastes differ and its your money. I however want my parts to make my looks suit my taste 100%…sorta like we had before they introduced these darn outfits who also replaced my awesome town clothes… what makes me hate em even more. Mix and match gives chars an unique flavour…or just a class specific look cause many people also sorta like to have their chars themed arround the class they play..or race for that matter or they just want to colour their look with more then 4 slots, hide their shoulders or gloves and helmet and so on. But why do i even talk to you… doesnt matter anyways, a-net already slapped us mix and matchers with the pitifull amount of new skins…

New Armors, not Outfits in HoT

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Basaltface.2786

Exactly why I’m asking if they’ll be putting more armor sets in or not… because at the moment, it just seems way too little, more like a living story type of release (armor wise) than a full blown expansion 50€ expansion.

They’ve stated we won’t see armor sets in the gemstore anymore. So they’ll all be obtainable in-game now by playing.
Expect new ones with the Living Story releases too.

Anet has been fairly consistent in showing that they are more interested in adding new skins via the gem store and BL chests than actual in-game rewards. So they’ll likely continue mostly ignoring armor and keep adding armor-ish costumes to the gem store.

Yeap and i hate every second i think about it. I dont mind to pay for skins, i never minded it, i bought a lot of gem store related items, and especially skins, in fact i waited every week for a new set of skins or backpiece or whatever. Even if there where ticket weapons that i liked i gladly played the chest raffle to get some tickets to buy em…or directly exchanged gems to gold to buy em… but outfits? F- that, i dont buy those, i want to mix and match. With the pitifull amount of armor skins we get for HoT i actually feel betrayed. 2 sets of armor and most likely 3 legendary armors who will follow the pattern of the ascended in design and have a generic look to them? Really? A handfull of “loose” skins (we dont know how many cause they are together with the “60 other thingies” that also include minis)? Thats it? I waited 1 year for that? No full armor set per specialisation to have a sort of “class specific” look with flavour? Only 1 armor skin and a weapon skin? Really a-net? Where is that “equality between gem store outfits and game reward armors” you mentoned in your blog back then? This really was a slap in my face…specially given that i saw how the specialisation pieces look on charr and asura…so not even good quality. That really hit home a-net…

No constant gearing up while the new gear renders the old trash like in other mmo-s? Yeah, if you say so, whatever.

legendary stats are ascended stats. Last time i checked i didnt need a legendary weapon to do my content either…so whats your point? Want legendary armor? No? Alright, dont get it. Want it? even if im most likely the greatest enemie of outfits.. i do gotta say thanks in advance and also thanks to the artist who remembered that there are charr players in the game who rolled the race for a reason. Horn holes and even ear holes in the helmet, completely covered neck, not even a tiny gap between chest and neck armor, tail plate , crisp clear textures, no stretching, no loveless deformation and also a pretty darn cool looking design. See a-net? This is how you make the charr players happy. I will actually wear this outfit on my charrdian and i will be proud to wear it. Thanks again

The elite spec sounds like it is going to not be good. Why are people frowning on it before it has even hit?

3 year record of the engi class makes most people have a few…trust issues, also the engi devs just love to nerf stuff to oblivion and make it unusable in ALL game modes not only pvp and then take months for fixing it (bomb kit anyone? Turrets that take friggin condi damage?)….also drones smell like AI, alone that most likely makes em unrelyable and so far everything nice they added came with a huge nerf to something else or itself within a short period (for example 28% mortar AA nerf within 24 hours of release of the kit without any explaination and even now its intended purpose still doesnt work proper). Also hobosacks anybody? 2,5 years to fix that…and still leaves you with ugly bomb kit (that btw still misses some ranges) and a mortar that looks like a lvl 5 rifle. Also promises like the pistol AA beeing an explosion what it still isnt and so on… yea.. if the forge is actually nice i gladly eat my words.. as for now…there are my reasons for my frown.

Who's the dev responsible for engi

in Engineer

Posted by: Basaltface.2786

Basaltface.2786

Engy currently has the highest sustained DPS in the game, (using bombs actually)

With Bombs? Based on what? The entire explosives (bar short fuse) is balanced around 3 nades vs 1 bomb.

Bombs are so win. The mortar kit makes up for our ranged problem so we don’t need grenades as much unless you just want the power.

Now it would be nice if we could give healing bombs back to that “sustained DPS” because they gave alot of survivability in zergs and 1v1 fights. Add that to that healing power to attack power conversion and we have a much more stable engineer that doesn’t die instantly when hit by a zerg. Alot of good high dps does when you are throwing rocks and junk on the ground because you don’t have the heals and attack power to back you up.

mortar is slow, weak and most of the time the projectile finisher doesnt work. The only good things about it are that you can aim it at your feet to get fields and the orbital strike(that one is seriosly kitten). As a ranged weapon it blows…my untraited rifle´s AA is more relyable then mortar aa…and does more damage ontop of it… thanks 28% damage nerf.. couldnt have done it without ya. Also it looks like a lvl 5 rifle…fitting for its damage output.

We got the most ugly armor class that got like 2 armors that are actually visually designed towards the class…one beeing a gem store set, had for an eternity hobosacks covering up our backpieces and even after the kit visual overhaul we still got the shaft with visuals (looking especially at you bomb kit). Only npcs get nice things at a-net, get used to it. The lvl 5 rifle that forms the mortar is most likely as good as it gets… cause a-net doesnt really care for the engi class

A new form of kits, instead of replacing our weapon, it replaces our armor. It will be hobo sacks all over.

With some effort and love put into engineer visuals this wouldnt be an issue…but then again we talk about a-net here… as long there isnt a boob window included in something there is not much chance that there is effort to make it look good.
Even after the “mental shift” to overhaul the kit visuals… look at the mortar and tell me that this looks good…or atleast on par with a lvl 80 weapon

Yeah , i think so too. That Mortat design looks not cool at all.I was expecting more , thats why i don’t think that the new spec will be that cool at all… i mean drones and hammer … 10 new skills = 3 kind of drones probably , each with long cd and 2-3 hit , 5 melee hammer skills ,elite skill and one heal skill .Tada ! Done new spec … meeeh … makes me sad , if it will be like that to be honest.i dont think those drones will be THAT usefull at all.So probably kits still better than that and also that traitline will be also meeh … like the other ones.Very limited at variantions.

Just an idea , how it may be , not sure , if they will do that like that

well maybe another mental shift comes and the engi devs are like “oy… just noticed that kits look like garbage, how about we…uhhh.. how was the word again?… OH! Effort!
Know what? Lets try that for once.. maybe people will like that. Cause maybe… JUST maybe some people play engineer cause they sorta kinda like crazed mechanical stuffs thats made with some love to the design.”

Like for example… remember the buff pylon thingy they showed on the live stream about balance changes and kit changes? That was a cool thing and looked a little wacky. I hoped we get that.. but nope… clearly too nice, wouldnt want an engineer use “wacky but still awesome looking” tools and contraptions. Also.. still sour about the 28% damage nerf of the mortar since im at kittening anyways. And who the hell thought the bomb kit visuals are an alright thing? Ugh.. i do hope HoT fixes atleast the visuals a little.. (blurry picture shows the buff pylon)

Basaltface.2786

But why some people still don’t like the Outfits system? It is more convenient and it goes to the full account, and you don’t need to buy transmutation charges for the each part of armor for all of your characters on your account.

Why? Take it from somebody who would (if he could, what he dont) destroy that system, put its remains in a woodchipper, set the darn chipper on fire together with what comes out of it, compress the ashes and shoot em to the moon and then blow up the moon just to be sure it stays dead.

-Outfits are locked down, you cant do anything but maybe hide the headpiece and colour 4 slots IF you are lucky.

- They completely remove any class identity.

- You cannot combine em with skins… or even other outfits for that matter to add personality to your armor.

-It took my town clothes away and i happened to love my town clothes very much…also since we are at it kitten the town cloth tonics too

-If you dont happen to like a part of that outfit (such as pauldrons or stuff) then go and screw yourself cause ya aint gonna be able to fix it.

-It turns you a storm trooper (look at the balth armor guys and tell me im wrong)

-Since the system is in place we dont got many skins for those who DO like to add personality to their chars and update their looks with fresh and new skins added to the wardrobe system that came at the time the outfit curse came too

- they said the outfit system allows em to do stuff that doesnt fit into any armor class…and yea do tell me how heavy armor outfits and stuff like the mad scientist does not fit any armor class… in fact if seperated like normal skins they just would be armor skins.

Well i give you the no transmutation charges… but not the account stuff cause also skin unlocks are accound wide. Before i use the outfit system id rather chop off my own hand to not be able to buy gems to even buy one outfit. So yea.. just say " they dont need your money they got mine" and call it a day.

Oops, you’re right, I should have put this on the thief forum. I had HoT on the mind…
Yes, the real issue with a sniper thief would be preventing it from being too powerful. I’m picturing a long cast time (maybe watch your character bend down and adjust his sights) and probably a revealed effect during and a bit after to prevent you from just disappearing or suddenly attacking out of stealth. Range doesn’t have to be more than 1200. And not all the skills need to be ranged. It would be tricky to design, but a lot of fun if they ever figure something out.
I hadn’t heard the staff rumors – I’d been assuming it wasn’t a possibility since that was already a special weapon for the rangers – but now we see shield on both chronomancer and herald, so they’re obviously not using unique weapons for each class. I will be happy with a staff!

Check this here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s593TFD1NNQ Snowball mayhem infiltrator “class”. If i imagine a thief with rifle it would be along these lines. In fact IF thief actually gets rifle (what the class most likely wont get given the datamined “evidence”) then i do hope it got a similar mechanic like that here… just obviosly tweaked to not be OP or stuff

we can dream.........

well.. rev is done, berserker, druid, forge and whatever thief gets is missing.. so if we get an elite spec next week its 25% its the forge…so thats that i suppose

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/hidden-arcana-developer-spotlight-on-crystin-cox/

For example, armor sets are now exclusively designed as in-game rewards while outfits are primarily Gem Store offerings.”

And this is why I love Anet. Well one of the reasons. They care about the player experience much over exact profit.

Sure. It’s a clear decision, but that doesn’t make it a good one. They can call putting a new outfit in the store every month and a new armor set in the game once a year “a greater balance between Gem Store item offerings and in-game rewards” but that doesn’t make it true. Plus I can’t be alone in being perfectly happy to pay for gemstore armor skins (I own all but the zodiac skins) and refusing to buy even a single locked-together do-it-their-way-or-not-at-all outfit.

dont bother… cept you love the usual “they dont need your money they have mine” or “i love outfits cuz – insert reason here -” comments. Just suck it up…. a-net made its choice
