well.. engi and war and thief are the ones i look forward to. Thief and war mostly cause im really curios what they gonna do with them..specially war who´s spec seems to be called berserker if the placeholder image they datamined can be trusted. Engi cause its my main and favourite class. As for the rest…yeh… rev is too restricting for me to play it anyways, ele is just not my thing though i do respect a good ele and ranger…ehhh if it gets all these longbow #4 skill spammers out of my hair then im glad

Mortar kit visual change please!

I disagree, they didn’t use just a start zone rifle, they combined this rifle model with the old mortar model and I really like it. It is just what an engineer would do, using the parts of the old unviable stationary mortar and a rifle to tinker a new mobile mortar. This cannon wouldn’t fit for this theme.

So… you do realise what gw2 engineers are capable off AND do all the time?
Scarlet.. look at her stuff, look at the citadel, tanks, airships, siege weapons, watchwork guards, charrcopters, heck even golems and other asura shenanigans even if they are technically more magic then anything. I mean seriosly.. if i would be an engineer for real in this universe where i stand on the frontline to fight friggin dragons id take sure my equipment is TOP notch and up to par with the magical spells and armament or just the physical skills other classes bring to battle…and especially a frigging mobile siege weapon should well kitten look like one…not like a lvl 5 rifle. Im personally fed up with always (visually) looking like the weakest link in the chain and i very well hope that the devs keep their word and the current models are indeed just placeholders…

I'm throwing money at my screen over here...

[Forum Specialist] Specialization Update

in Engineer

Posted by: Basaltface.2786

Basaltface.2786

well…

1. yea mortar WAS making up for the nades (for me).. before the friggin 28% nerf

2. crate > mortar > elixir-x. Crate cause its relyable and im used to it.. and now its even more usefull. Mortar cause of the toolbelt and fields.. and F dat auto nerf, without that nerf it would be the perfect replacement for the crate (imo). I still run it atm cause that double blast finish and the fields are really nice to have…but the attack damage man…ouch. Elixir x is really good, its just not my personal deal, i do like to moa lich form necros with it though.

3. I always used bombs and thats gonna remain that way cept they give me a (for me) pleasing melee weapon alternative. They are utility and attack power in one and its so nice to kite with them. With HGH i enjoy the e-g even more in my build. She is my clear choice of utlity with the blast finish, heal, cripple and stun break and now she also stacks might, love it. Flamer… ehhh i do use it, but not that much anymore. I did however use it in wvw just fine. Oddly i only ran the flamer waaay back then before it got buffed…but then again i wasnt that familiar with the class.

4.Well i run a weird build that most would laugh at cause its not meta and i had a lot of bad experiences showing my builds off in the forums so lets not go there…but be assured its really comfortable to play..especially now with the new trait system.. 25 stacks might sustain in battle….awww kitten.

5. Med kit…eh.. well it sure is fun and all but sooo clunky and really hard to hit things with #2 to #5, i can barely use it, a real shame… cause i love the revamp in theory, also where is the buff pylon thingy? That thing looked awesome. Also the visuals are epic too…like a mad scientist´s brass knuckle 10\10.

6. If mortar #5 + blast finish and elixir gun #5 count then yes i do. And if turret toolbelt+ blast finisher counts then i do aswell.

7. Compared how it was before the patch this is golden, compared to other traits its lackluster, it could use a bit of work…but dont ask me how to improve it, im not a gadget fan and i dont belive thats gonna change all too soon

I’m going to guess we’ll see the other half after things calm down a bit.

Who knows? Maybe the delay is due to the designers wanting to make it possible for kits to use custom skins.

Well i am with Syviren. I have startet designing stategy games over 30 years ago and have experience with balacing browser games.(Nedless to say i am an IT guy and bord/online gamer for 30 years) He is right ;-).
And yes i can see that much can be done better but they did a good overal job with the new system. I hope the don´t panic and/or give in to emotions. Just do the math and improve it.

with a 28%(!!!!!!!) mortar kit damage nerf they did give into emotions, but dont ask me what emotions that might be….. it does about the damage of a rifle now with the only truly damaging attack it got (its AA) WHILE taking over the elite slot

Why does Anet keeps nerfing Engineer?

in Engineer

Posted by: Basaltface.2786

Basaltface.2786

If you want the damage back then be prepared to lose the utility provided by the mortar. The amount of different effects and fields it provides is just way too good to be coupled with a strong autoattack.

Yea wouldnt want a relyable long range attack that takes my ELITE slot… My kittening bad…

a-net adds a good thing, a net makes it viable to show how awesome it is, a-net nerfs the hell out of it cause screw you, you aint getting anything good here on a-nets watch. Finally had a viable ranged kit option (in pve) cause i dont like the nades and what does a-net do? Nerf the kitten out of it of course….

They are pretty “normal” and “rustical” and that is a good thing for a change. Polished, clean, very detailed, made clearly with a lot of love and reasonable in size on every skin, also sharp looking blades and they got that “yea i can fit to anything if i want to” vibe. Thats from my perspective a clear 10\10, i specially dig the hammer and the dagger and sword and the smart idea for a focus… an incense burner? Yes please, here are my tickets.

Might be a bit off topic but if a designer is reading that… maybe you could note somewhere down to make a flail skin for a mace sometime in the future in the way the incense burner is, actually just make the ball solid and slap some spikes on it and done, would be something id personally love to have arround.

eh yea.. sorry to say but they do look like crap..especially the bomb kit (and especially on charr)…i mean wtf went wrong there in the design department. Also the mortar looks like a lvl 5 rifle. Med kit looks very good, the nades.. eh.. what else you gonna do there anyways? Imo they work..well id take other options too but yea they are the least of my visual nightmare fuel atm lol.

On a slightly different note.. the mortar is a beast and i LOVE that kit, i went with it for a test run earlier in EotM to just see what i can do with it…and i ask myself how the hell did i ever play wvw without this kit? 10\10

two versions should be everything thats needed.

-HoT Veteran version = comes with a char slot and title like “dragon slayer”
cause i do belive every (pve) “veteran” atleast killed one of these darn things at
some point…or sits on a mountain of spoons like i do.

-HoT Adventurer version = comes with the base game to get the new players right
away “equipped” proper to make their adventure in tyria

but who the hell cares what a guy who just 2 days ago pumped 50 euros (for the 2nd time this month) into the gem store thinks. Yea i wouldnt care either about a guy who usually sinks about 100 euros into the game every month cause he sorta likes the game and a-net…even if he plays charr and to this day still waits for proper armor sets that take racial features in account and are on equal quality with human sets, who plays engineer and waited almost 2,5 years for a hobosack fix that only now is coming who still logs in every day since the last LS…but yeh… im not gonna be salty. The engi spec is deciding if i stay or go and if i stay i buy the cheapest version…cause kitten buying the ultimate, dont care. I personally never bought a char slot cause i filled mine with the classes i like to play…but yea whatever…

Expectation management: Mortar kit

in Engineer

Basaltface.2786

What i want it to be? A heavy hitting, 1500 range kit with a somewhat slower attack speed with decent fields that makes commanders shout “MORTAR ENGIES ON THE WALLS!” when they see it. I want that kit to be lethal, heavy and menacing looking, i want it to resemble the charr concept art in the attachment and i want to feel like i use a heavy weapon once i equip it…and not a dinky little (elite skill) charzooka that you hold like a rifle or some puny nades (nades are powerfull but dont look as powerfull as they should imo, so dont come to me explaining how awesome they are, im fully aware of that ). I want it to rain doomsday on enemy zergs and abolish enemies in pvp aswell mobs in pve, a kit that strikes fear into the hearts of my foes. I also want it to work like a regular kit with swapping back and forth like i please…and not with ammo or charges that run out..or a timer, reasonable longer cooldowns on 2 to 5 are acceptable to me though, i want it to be my reliable ranged option once HoT hits cause my firearms gonna be most likely replaced with the hammer and i also want it to have no minimum range to be useable to blast a combofield right below my feet or deploy one.

Eh..i can dream i guess

And if you hadn’t noticed, EVERYTHING about the traits revamp is about limiting options. Specifically limiting options to a pool small enough the players might finally stop completely destroying the Developer’s expectations for profession performance with builds they didn’t predict.

the “panic” was there already as they revealed the rev´s mechanic and the second they said the skills most likely gonna be locked on the twitch stream´s chatroom and about 10 mins later on the forums…just sayin

Really? Blowing the first big mission is suddenly wiped clean by doing the job of a red shirt or other expendable anonymous henchmen?

I hope he dies in HoT and becomes the shield aligned legend Revs can stance to.
Then again I feel bad for every Rev having him in their head.

well.. might aswell lay out my logan skillset…even if it de-rails the topic a tiny bit…

- Heal: For the queen! : Makes the rev run from battle, refills the entire health bar and
gets an asura in your group killed, if no asura is present a random member
of your group gets killed

-#7: Dishonor friendships: Taunts a random charr in your group and if the player of said
charr is on your friendslist he gets removed, if no charr is in your group a random
friend gets removed from your friendslist

-#8: Disregard the fate of tyria: Ports the rev far enough away from enemies to occ

-#9: Ego blast : Makes the rev immune to taunt and blocks for 5 minutes all members
of your group

Elite: Must protect the queen: Summons queen jennah, the strongest known mesmer
in tyria to carry the group and make the rev look pathetic weak in comparison

and a confession:

- I dont really like logan…lets leave it at this

after two weeks of “casual” SW farming i had so many obi shards that i actually needed to toss a stack of 250 out of my bank and my crafting tab holds 500 units per stack…so do with that what you want.

thanks everyone. Just curious what do you mean by casual bc that means different things to different people. Like 1-3 hours a day? 30min? Very thankful for the answers and glad I didn’t miss out on the farm.

well usually i just did the vinewrath run with fortress defence followed by the chestrun that usually happens right after the wrath and then jumping to the next instance to repeat the progress…or stayed if the people wanted to go for another wrath. Did that 2 to 3 times a day and now i got so many obi shards that i dont even know anymore what else to do with them. Actually.. now that i talk about it i sorta think i should start doing that again.

also the time varies at the SW stuff.. but you can count for 30-45 mins depending on how the people work together and protect the forts and fight the wrath and stuff

Dubious.

I feel…

Dubious.

I hate outfits and I reckon I’m in the majority on that one. I like armor. The idea that I can earn all future armor without gems sounds great. Except that I can only recall 2 complete sets of armor being released (which didn’t cost gems) between release and present time. Also, the gem armors feature some of the most detailed armor sets in game. Whether or not you like the zodiac, aetherblade or flamewalker sets, they are of a higher design quality then most of the non-gem sets. Can we expect high quality or low quality sets if Anet will no longer be making a direct profit off of them – and most importantly, if armor sets are non-gem, will we ever actually get any?

im actually afraid of that….i play charrs.. means i get sub par quality even from the gem store…so yea seems ill be getting blurry glitch galores without personality at all in the future… yay… -_-

Morfedel's Beta Review: Revenants

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Basaltface.2786

Basaltface.2786

well.. thats exactly my issues with the rev aswell

Locked skills AND no weapon swap does not fly. No room for experimentation and fine tuning\adusting the class to your needs and likes. If you happen to not like\want to use a skill of a specific legend then it sucks to be you….cause thats beyond your total controll. Got the hammer equipped and get dragged into melee then it sucks to be you…or you are melee and an encounter “forces” you to go ranged…what ensures you even got time to open your inventory, swap your axe and mace to the hammer..or whatever else the rev is gonna use? Nothing.. one hit and you are screwed…ranged aint gonna happen anymore till you go OCC. The rev is as flexible as a plate of steel no matter how i look at it. Im not saying that the rev is lame…not at all, i actually love the idea behind the mechanic… HOWEVER…. there are things… build diversity, personal touch and so on that got no place at the current rev. Well lets add all together…

- No weapon swap what is a point i can swallow..cause i main an engi and im used to
that.

- Only two legends that most likely wont allow to change out skills at all…means it
forces skills on you that you got zero controll about. If you dont like ALL of the skills
of a legend then though kitten…gotta take all or none

- With the upcoming trait nerf\buff (however you look at it) the class takes another
kick into the shins of build diversity

What do we get? The class version of an outfit. I rest my case.

Asking for cultural themed things is nice and i can understand the OP, but while half of the charr wear a neon coloured anime hairdo and the other half look like a kitten from your backyard the point is lost.

And the norn? Ridiculous moustaches everywhere (also in neon pink or cyan). Some pitch black armoured.

Armor wise the game is frankly mostly catered to human chars, human female mostly.

This is not true. Maybe there are more items that could look good but the actual number of working combinations is quite limited. I guess it’s still “the thing” to say that females get the better armors… (Even if it is not the case)

Quality wise they certainly do. Crisp clear textures all the way, most of the time perfectly form fitting… I as a charr player get almost a joygasm when i get an armor with tail slot or a helmet that does not take my horns away or boots with 3 toe covering and helmets with ear holes. Well its my own fault for playing charr or asura you could say… but then again i like them way more then humans.

The game is all about sylvari, charr and asura and you have to complain about god-themed back items?

Armor wise the game is frankly mostly catered to human chars, human female mostly. Not saying you cant make a non human char that wears armor that reflects a specific race theme… but you gonna be very restricted with the parts… mostly to dungeon and cultural armor and even there it can be a kitten to get the “feel” in…looking specially at you medium charr cultural. Try to find a single gear on these things… I dare you lol.

Also the op asks for more “different” options that use more racial “traits” added to the game. Think braham’s armor… Sorta that way, just for all race “traits”

[Suggestion] Crossbow Skins for Firearms?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Basaltface.2786

Basaltface.2786

Mhm not a bad idea, though it would be off with a couple of animations. I can’t imagine rifle engineer launching themself by firing a crossbow as they would a rifle for example.

I don’t think it’d be too far fetched. It’d be like loading an explosive bolt into it and using the resulting blast to launch you. I actually find it weirder that rifle engineers could use a musket as a blunderbuss or—on the flip side—warriors sniping with a blunderbuss.

well… i think we reached a point where it (imo) really doesnt matter anymore to look at small details like this. I mean we got guardians in dresses, swinging pixel weapons at dragon minions that look like the little shop of horror´s plant on acid while a garden gnome sized asura swings a hammer thats as big as he is to knock a 16 foot tall undead patchwork project on its kitten right besides a 4 horned 4 eared cat ogre with trenchcoat and gas mask that shoots a 6 feet long sniper rifle from the hip with buckshot ammo. So yea.. whats the harm in having crossbow skins? If you ask me.. they would be less insane then what we got going on right now (not that there is anything wrong with insane)

Early on in the game’s life, people asked for great axe skins for hammers or greatswords. The response to that likely still stands as regards this: Anet have no desire to make weapons look like other weapons… they’d rather just add in new weapons with new skills.

well.. we get a chain whip sword skin most likely tomorrow onto the gem store (what looks btw epic as hell imo).. so i wouldnt bet my money on them keeping this system.
But yea.. they did menton something like this waaaaay back then.
