Ah, I didn’t read that post. Still, it leaves unanswered as to why Destiny’s Edge didn’t show up. Answers are always in the future, aren’t they Anet?

Yes, but in the forums, Regina Buenaobra said that Destiny’s edge is still busy with Zaithan.

Rox, Braham, Marjory, Kasmeer, and Taimi are referred to internally as “B-Iconics” (or Biconics) as opposed to our “A-Iconics” or main iconic characters, Caithe, Rytlock, Eir, Zojja, and Logan. They are not a “replacement” for Destiny’s Edge; these characters fulfill a different role in the story. Because members of Destiny’s Edge are so entwined with your Personal Story as well as the over-arching story with Zhaitan, and because the Living World plot lines are taking place at the same time all those other story threads, we couldn’t have the members of Destiny’s Edge splitting themselves between these other areas and what was going on with Living World. This is partly why we introduced these new characters.

I thought that it had been said that the reason why we don’t see Destiny’s Edge, and instead get Braham, Rox, Majory, and Kas, is because DE is busy with Zaithan. But, an npc says to you “Seems like it was just the other day you led us to victory over Zaithan.” So which is it?
They’re not going to change how pve/wvw changes in the middle of season 2. That’s just crazy.
The feature update will either land on the 18th, or not till after WvW season 2.
..or what about the option of not permanently removing content. Just make it insranced or something.
Wouldn’t an instanced marionette be fun!
He does, yes, after the battle against the hologram.
Seriously here… On the March. 18 patch, AN will remove the opportunity to buy Horns/Halos and all the other item in exchange of what we … farmed.
- Zephyr things can stay, but this one not? There is a traider for post-exchanges…
- Both of the potions are not fixed yet. AN expects us to buy them now? -10G maybe?
Well, the Zephyr is presumably a re-occurring event, while escape/battle from/for LA is a one time event. Tho so was wintersday, and we saw how useful those frames were this year!
Be careful buying a boxed copy. I think China is region 6 dvd (C/3 for blu-ray), so if you get a disc from there it will not work in a NA rig unless you have your system unlocked and region free. That would be the first thing I’d look into before trying for the boxed copy.
Regions only apply to movies, not games.

It would be nice if it was a mail sent in game, tho.
See, what people have to realize is that the living story’s what anet’s using to keep us playing. They don’t have gear grind, they don’t have monthly subs. If you could quit the game for a year, and come back and play everything you missed, and essentially not be left behind, what incentive is there to be here?
Not that I expect you to read my signature, but I would answer with PvP, WvW, alt personal story paths, and dungeons for the sake of fun.
I read your signature. The other thing is, there’s only so many times you can do the same dungeon before it gets old. Yes, yes, you love running them. Most people don’t. That’s why we haven’t gotten any new dungeons. Some people don’t like PvP or WvW. What do you do after you’ve done all the personal storylines?
Well that doesn’t explain it, because some people don’t like doing living story either. You may think it keeps people playing, but eventually that repeat audience is going to decline. It certainly won’t grow because the design just alienates anyone trying to get into it.
Find and replace “living story” with any of your suggestions.

No one’s interested in low RNG probabilities when they can get guaranteed loot.
I think the vast majority of players just don’t want to read. Putting the patch notes in game won’t make them read them. Plus, they kind of are in game, they’re featured in the launcher.
Okay, I deleted a few posts about this, but I’ve rethought, and I’ve made up my mind: people shouldn’t have to wait between tournaments to get the mistforged weapon. Every server should get a chance to get one at every tournament. SoS is doomed to 4th or 5th place, because of how the leagues are set up (thanks again for not changing those), which would barely give us enough tickets to get a weapon. And the rest of the rewards are incredibly lackluster. What’s our incentive to spend 7 weeks fighting for a guaranteed 4th place, Devon?
No, they’re not. They were obtained from the probes that have since blown up.
Just like how we deal with Krakatrorik, and Jormag!
I kind of feel like the leaderboards were a red herring, to give us an answer as to why levels needed to be reset.

I don’t think this is entirely their fault. They intended for us to use different tactics than we do, and we broke it. I’m sure they’re working hard to fix it.

There’s a guild challenge in which you have to kill 3 bosses within the same time window that works perfectly to split up the ‘zerg from one to the other’ tactic. It makes coordination very important and creates a much more interesting fight.
I wouldn’t expect an overflow full of random people to perform on the same level as a guild would, full of people who know each other, and have done several encounters with together, and who are probably sharing some kind of voice chat.
Not saying it can’t be done, but I don’t think it would make the event very entertaining. There will always be those who wont listen when people start shouting in map chat to stop attacking. Then there will be situations where one color may not have enough people, and in a bid to correct it, people may end up overcorrecting, then confusion sets in. (etc etc, problems that usually occur when random people are thrown together)
I tend to agree with this. I think the guild missions is great for guilds, but impossible in the open world. Any event that allows people to troll it will be trolled. See the original upgraded Teq fight for evidence of that. And allowing trolls to ruin an encounter is a failure of gameplay.

Do you really need to extend it? You can’t buy the cores? Once the knights start dropping loot, they’ll get cheap again.

It’s theoretically possible that anet thinks the hideous Scarlet’s veil in the achievement for season 1. It’s also possible we’ll get something on the 18th, after the epilogue. It’s also possible they think they’ve given us enough during the course of the living story that we don’t need a reward at the end and that killing their villain sue was enough reward. Hey, at least we got to kill her, and not one of the NPCs, I’m looking at you, Kormir.

No, I expected them to answer questions as we go along, so that there wasn’t a long list. However, those hopes were dashed long ago, so now I go leaping from update to update, hoping that each update will be the one that answers my questions.
I wasn’t being sarcastic. I was saying that 6250 blade shards, you have probably more than you’d ever need. You have almost half of what an light armor needs to get a full set of ascended armor, and that was specifically introduced to act as a material sink. Since blade shards can’t be sold, there’s no need to ever introduce a material sink for them.

My “wait for it” point was about how we’ve been told we just have to keep waiting to get the answers. And now we have to wait s’more. Why can’t they just ANSWER SOME QUESTIONS for once?
Perhaps having 25 stacks of blade shards, you’ll probably have way more than you’ll ever need.
If you ask anet, the personal story’s still ongoing. For some reason. That’s why Destiny’s edge isn’t really around during the Scarlet Story. So I guess no Personal story 2.0

For those saying “wait for the epilogue” why do we always have to wait for the answers?
Clever. Naturally, my complain was about the constant refrain of “wait for it. Wait for it. Wait forrrrrr it….” we’ve been hearing since, oh, say, September.

I think of the Living Story as more like a TV show than a book.
And like any TV show they’re not going to give you all the answers and wrap up all the storylines at the end of Season 1, because they want you to keep watching (playing) Season 2 to find out what happens.
They could give us some answers. And not the one no one apparently guessed, despite everyone guessing it already.

I got super crazy lucky on my last run. I was looking at something else, came back to the screen, and it had started. I greatsword spun to her, then greatsword charged at her, hit stomp, and won. I dunno how, by hey, I got it!

You don’t need the backpiece, no, but it’s a lot easier to get the helm this way then wait 30-60 minutes to get to Scarlet, and if you don’t want to take the time, why not? It’s not hard to make the fine quality backpiece. Also, it’s kind of necessary for the “nowhere to hide” achievement, unless you get super crazy lucky on your second attempt or like waiting.

All you need is the blue spinal backpiece. You do not need anything more than that. Go and have fun!
That’s sucks, I only have the “Spinal Blade Pack”…..
With blue he means quality, not the Dynamic one, which means that yours is enough to skip the watchknights.
She, and yes, I meant blue in quality. I apologize for the confusion. (tho it’d be weird for anet to only allow ONE of the colored backpieces in)

I know, I just don’t want to lose my fractal backpiece, like my friend did with his monocle.
I want to give the spinal backpiece to my main. But she has the fully upgraded fractal capacitor, which I’d like to give to my wvw main. If I transmute this backpiece, can I use the transmutation splitter to get it back with the stats, and stuff intact?

So, for the end of the story, which you’ve been promising would be awesome for the past 6 months, I need to fight a three man fight using boss tactics no one likes, against a bugged event so that I can fight a harder battle on a ship? Thanks, anet.

So, anet, to see this fantastic ending, you have to do a boss fight you know hardly anyone likes? Thanks.

It won’t be a one time event. Anet learned their lesson about that during the ancient karka event in November 2012. Presumably, we’ll get another instance, and then it’ll be much like the current living world event.
It’s not their fault. China doesn’t allow western companies to publish mmos in China. You have to use a local company.
Yes, why do you want to punish people for doing something that doesn’t affect you in any way?
Yes, you should join Team Shatter, if you like WvW, PvE, and most importantly, PvDoor.
My proposal to fix the dredge fractal? Make the clown car the boss, and make the suit/elemental another Maw type end boss.
No, it’s not an exploit. Is it an exploit to quit when you hit the dredge fractal and start again? Should we force people to have to play the dredge fractal? Maybe we should make that the unskippable first fractal?
You’re not getting it obviously. The whole point of Fractals is that it surprises you with a different assortment of Fractals every time you play it. Re-rolling for the quickest and easiest fractal bypasses this entire concept… plus it’s rather annoying.
Oh, it’s the cliffside fractal. Re-roll for swamp!
Oh, it’s urban battleground. Re-roll for swamp!
I know we’d all love to reroll every time the dredge fractal comes up, but that’s a problem with the dredge fractal specifically, not with the randomness. People should just play the fractals they’re dealt, and they should all be of comparable difficulty.
I get it. I just don’t think it’s a problem. Why wouldn’t people reroll to get swamp if they get Cliffside or dredge. Cliffside made me quit fractals, because I couldn’t take the stress of wondering if I’d get it, and then have someone bug it out because they can’t be bothered to think any harder than “kill everything.” Why do we care what other people do when it doesn’t affect us in the slightest?
Why do we care so much about rerolling?
From a purely functional point of view:
An element of fractals is randomness, that you don’t know what content you’ll be playing, re-rolling allows you to partially control that randomness bypassing the mechanic for 1/4 of the run, which is by definition an exploit.
No, it’s not an exploit. Is it an exploit to quit when you hit the dredge fractal and start again? Should we force people to have to play the dredge fractal? Maybe we should make that the unskippable first fractal?

Well, we can’t discover stuff that isn’t in the game. And simply setting up mysteries, and then claiming you don’t want to spoil things, while at the same time, never solving any of the mysteries is frustrating.
So the toxic krait can’t go home, the molten flame legion need to win to go home, and the molten dredge are in it for the glory of the moletariat. You ducked the nightmare Court, which suggests we’ll find that out in a future release. The Aetherblades were stated back in October to be in it for the loot, and the Inquest doesn’t actually appear to be in it anymore.
And just like that, all my apprehension and negativity over this alliance issue is resolved. Thank you, Angel!
If only all that was in the game.
