Can somebody tell what is actually on sale?

Is it a loading problem or a frame rate problem. Again the graphics card doesn’t really affect loading times by all that much so any of those graphic settings really isn’t going to make any of difference.
Now if it’s a framerate problem I would suggest downloading GPU-Z and double check that the PCIe bus width is x16 and PCIe V2.0.
RIP City of Heroes
The simple reason that the warp costs weren’t removed was the armor repair costs was a double penalty. Armor still gets damaged, it will still eventually need repair, just that it won’t cost you money as well as time.
On the other hand waypoints are a time savings device. Now that’s something you charge for.
RIP City of Heroes
There was a lot of speculation based on previous sales and what were perceived as huge sellers for ANet and the various slots seemed to be big time sellers based on the spike at the gem exchange as players cashed in for gems. But ANet never hinted beyond that the sales were daily and some discontinued items would be back.
RIP City of Heroes
I have a feeling that post wardrobe that there will be a series of skin sales and returns of old favorites. The demand is too high to be ignored.
RIP City of Heroes
Add an exclusion for gw2.dat to your AV’s realtime scanner.
Check to make sure some other app isn’t sucking down CPU %.
This has very little to do with your graphics card.

Surprised that the Royal Pass didn’t make a bigger impact. I guess the various “warnings” about the RT missing the Daily Event NPC and those that insist that account bound convenience items should automatically be accessible by every character without need of transfering it, soured it enough to keep players away.
Or that on the weekend, more players took advantage that the Gem to Gold rate was over 6.5g and gave balance to the exchange.
Looking at your calendar StinVec, it’s apparent that Sunday is armor skins day.
RIP City of Heroes
Unless you frequently skin items below level 80 in which case your tran-sstones are now worth 1/3rd. Or you mix and match town clothing. Or you bought a number of duplicate skins (of course they haven’t announced how they are handling that yet, refund is likely I think). Or you don’t want your hard earned PvP skins showing up in PvE. Etc.
Personally I don’t have a problem with any of the changes.
RIP City of Heroes
The advantage is not needing to buy tools and kits in the field.
RIP City of Heroes
The bank in DR is a free WP away and it drops you off just outside it.
It bugs me that making a convenience item account bound instead of soul bound isn’t enough for some players. That the minor inconvenience of parking your characters at or near a bank to allow you to swap these items is considered a deal breaker.
shakes head
RIP City of Heroes
Well the Black Lion NPC is a free waypoint away in DR. I’ve always thought that by packing those few extra NPCs on the airship was a mistake. Both the airship and terrace should have been identical.
RIP City of Heroes
It’s always been missing so it’s always been a portal trip to Lion’s Arch, now Vigil Keep. It’s not a “new” inconvenience.
RIP City of Heroes
Yes, the 1000 gem pass is unlimited. It’s account bound. I loved mine since I got it on the one day sale at the start of January.
RIP City of Heroes
Everything is working as intended. Once you transferred you lose access to a guild bank on a different server. Even guesting doesn’t give you access.
I’m sorry you didn’t understand that before you transferred. It’s the biggest drawback of having a personal Guild Bank, that it’s tied to the server it was created on.
RIP City of Heroes
It’s still a cost/benefit decision. And the measure of benefit is on ANet’s end and not the player. If the PC MMO market in Italy is small …
RIP City of Heroes
“Gipping” is a bad word. An ethnic slur against Romani.
Cause knowing is half the battle.
RIP City of Heroes
So you are suggesting that server code should first check the market before deciding what drop each and every player is getting out of a champ bag when they open it?
That’s not going to add any additional load to the servers will it. eyeroll
Might as well roll item drops that are usable by your character’s profession while we’re at it.

Cheers John!
I virtually never died, so with nerf to champion loot/events I will be considerably worse off gold wise.
Cheers again John, thanks very much!
You’ve died 895 times.
And now JS is doing his Root/Machine impersonation.

The attachment really made my day
I think I stole it from someone else’s post in a different mount thread.
I definitely stole it, I mean I think it was in a different mount thread versus one of the other often repeated topics.

What crafting mat has a good actually value? Items on the TP have prices set by supply and demand. Upping supply would likely decrease the price of a mat with “good value”.
RIP City of Heroes
100x increase of Sigil of Generosity’s price! Try only 6.7x for Superior version over the last year. 2.8x for Major version and 9.4x for Minor version.
And how does one make gold useless for an item? Oh they bought them all from other people. Sorry the jury already came in saying that it’s impossible to monopolize a particular market for any extended period of time. Even if they are trying to pull a De Beers by controlling supply.
Same goes with with your third case, relies on control of in this case a material. Unless that material was available only during an annual event, crafting mats fall like rain if you bother acquiring them yourself.
Someone is yanking your chain if they convinced you that hundreds of players are earning 1000s of gold per day/week/month and thus pulling the strings on the market. It’s like typing in the code for Dust after an event in chat implying you had one dropped on you. It’s to wind up people that are easily wound up so they come on the board to scream about the unfairness of RNG.
And to be clear, I’m not a “flipper” but at times I’ve been a “salvager” and “mystic forge gambler”.
RIP City of Heroes
Patch scheduled for April 15th.
RIP City of Heroes
No, it gets rid of the cost of the repair. Armor still takes damage that you need to repair. Bolded the relevant bit.
Despite his recent defeat in the Captain’s Council elections, Evon Gnashblade has magnanimously decided to put all of Tyria’s experts in armor repair on salary. That’s right: the day is fast approaching when you will never again have to pay for another repair! Explore and experiment all across Tyria with no cost to repair your armor damaged in trial and battle. We feel the time penalty to return and repair accomplishes our goal enough to not need a secondary cost that punishes newer and less experienced players the most.

Not to toot my own horn…. but beets…. come on who called that kitten? Your welcome world haha.
Anybody following the threads about the changes in the China version and talk about syncing the feature set between the Chinese and International versions. We knew something was up with dyes. We knew the Chinese version had account unlocked dyes.
Next logical step was to stock up on mats used in making dyes. Wasn’t a bad guess. You got to avoid the Tuesday rush at least.

The TP can’t promote inflation since it sucks 15% off of every trade and doesn’t create gold. Gold is only injected into the game from drops or selling items to a vendor. Gems to gold doesn’t inject gold either because that gold first came from players buying gems with gold and that gold gets hit twice with the 15% sink, once going in, once coming out.
Oh-no! Speculation via information, how dare they inform us, don’t they know some people may buy out all the beanie babies? The TP API wasn’t provided by ANet but derived from watching the traffic going to and from the TP, which is a browser app.
Sorry you can’t legislate common sense. If players are willing to sell an item at the current high bid or buy an item at the current low sell price, thus creating an environment for players to act as vendors, what could ANet do to force players to use the market smarter? Every suggestion I’ve seen to “punish” player vendors would negatively impact the purpose of the TP which is to allow players to get rid of unwanted items or buy wanted items with ease.
If a player gets manipulated by a ton of 1c false demand, well … see PT Barnum.
Here’s your chain of thought:
1) Players with tons of gold (who must have gotten only via playing the TP) either keep prices of desirable exclusive items high since they can afford them or convert to gems so they can buy desirable skins/tools. [Rich trendsetters and early adopters buy latest sexy Apple gizmo.]
2) Other players see these desirable items shown off and want one themselves. [Latest sexy Apple gizmo becomes must have trendy item.]
3) Players wanting said items are sadly gold deprived so if they want it they must either buy gems for gem sake or to convert to gold. [People who can’t afford latest sexy Apple gizmo but have an overpowering want turns to crime to get one from someone who could buy it.]
4) Therefore players who have tons of gold (which they must of gotten via playing the TP) are causing players to buy gems with cash thus profiting ANet. [Therefore if Apple’s latest gizmo wasn’t so sexy to become the current must have item, some people who couldn’t afford one wouldn’t feel the need to steal one.]
RIP City of Heroes
It was half of the voluntary replies who didn’t buy gems with cash. Extrapolating such a pole to the actual active player base will get you an F in any college course on poling.
RIP City of Heroes
You have people who thought the April update was going to contain content, even though ANet never used the word content when talking about the patch after the LS was over.
Then you have the players who bought items that are going to be either useless or redundant with incomplete info about what ANet will do to compensate. Example, players who bought a lot of very expensive dyes on multiple characters are only going to get a unidentified dye are compensation. Same goes for skins and trait adjusters.
Then you have players who simply dislike when their cheese is moved like trait and reward changes.
Lastly unhappy people are more likely to post their complaints than post their kudos. Actually that unbalance nature makes it less likely to post complements since they will be shouted down by those unhappy. If you simply don’t care, MMOs always change so why be surprised, assuming they are even paying attention about the upcoming changes, then why bother posting.
TL;DR – Haters gonna hate and post about it. Lovers keep to themselves.
RIP City of Heroes
But buying gold via gems bought with cash isn’t making ANet profits from using the TP.
Every legendary bought was first made by a player. Are you suggesting that player shouldn’t be paid a king’s ransom for the time and mats involved in crafting it?
Also 2K gold costs only $300 right now. Ridiculous yes, but actually coming down over the year when 2K gold cost over $1100 (Bifrost for example is now is 2950g but a year ago it was still 2400g).
The purpose of the Gold to Gem side of the exchange is to provide those playing the game a lot to be able to get some items from the Gem Store. It also funds the Gem to Gold side of the exchange as well as yet another gold sink. It at least provides a method to buy items from the cash shop, most MMO’s with cash shops don’t have that.
LordByron, your explanation is three steps removed to link ANet profits to TP use. That’s like saying that because more robberies involve Apple products being stolen that it’s Apple’s fault for the uptick in theft.

Based on less that 600 votes on a web site I hadn’t heard of before because I rarely play WvW. It also uses very broad ranges to bin the replies.

What you are missing is that the whole game is designed around the TP, while WoW for example is most certainly not designed around the auction house. The big difference is that Anet profits from players using the TP, unlike other adventure games.
Please explain how ANet profits from players using the TP? Gem Store yeah but the TP?
RIP City of Heroes
Armor will still be damaged and after enough times you will have to stop and get it repair and that takes either time or a gem paid repair kit. All this change is doing is eliminating the 1.63g for each damaged armor piece.
RIP City of Heroes
We don’t know anything about a refund policy yet about dup skins. I’m sure there will be one but the refund will be in gems.
RIP City of Heroes
Well that is a good idea but each language done costs money so it becomes a matter of how large the prospective market in that country is and how many ANet thinks would buy the game to decide if it’s worth doing.
Right now the NCSOFT standard for European languages is German, Spanish, French and the UK can get stuck with American English without all those extra u’s.
RIP City of Heroes
Is it confirmed that it will remain untouched?
Did your original quote from the blog sound like it was going to remain untouched? No it says it’ll be changing but all the changes aren’t in stone yet so we can’t tell you until it’s closer to patch day.
RIP City of Heroes
If they’re making it free, why even have armor durability in the game? Just remove the whole system.
Death penalty.
RIP City of Heroes
Event and Champion Loot
With the changes we’re making that remove some of the systems that take gold out of the economy, we need to make sure the economy remains balanced in terms of gold input as well. We’ll be reducing the amount of raw gold that comes out of champion loot bags and events in an effort to keep the economy balanced and spread out player activity a bit.
I read this as major events (ie Maw) as well as champs. Right now the playstyle has become more about farming champs and bosses from events than exploring and doing normal DEs (Vs Boss chest events) on the rest of the maps. If you decrease the incentive to play only champs and boss events then maybe, just maybe, players would actually play in the other 90% of the game the devs created.
Maps empty of players discourages players on those maps and creates the illusion that nobody plays.
Or are you suggesting that players are now so trained to do only champ trains and boss events that it wouldn’t even occur to them to explore and see if something better exists or would earn them just as much while being different.
RIP City of Heroes
The gold sink wasn’t needed any longer.

The reason for no 64bit was because the game would be rendered incompatible with 32bit systems, namely winxp and the idiot versions of vista and now win7 and win8.
WoW isn’t just 64-bit now but simply has a 64-bit version available.
RIP City of Heroes
(edited by Behellagh.1468)
I believe they are trying to get players more spread out in the world and degenerated gameplay like champ trains and boss event trains are keeping players away from the rest of the game’s content. All it’s doing is training players to zerg en mass instead of learning how to play their profession.
I would also expect that the trait unlocks will also require players to spend time in zones and doing content rarely frequented now.
RIP City of Heroes
GW2’s entire technical frame-work seems outdated for a game that’s only 1.5 years old. It’s obvious that the years of delays left much technical potential unused.
I think it was originally planned for 2010 but wasn’t released until 2012.
The engine has obvious issues:
- It’s extremely CPU limited,
- it has poor multi-core support,
- it’s a 32-but application,
- can’t harness more than 2GB of RAM,
- it doesn’t benefit from DirectX 11,
- it has a very limited map-size,
- it has issues with calculating conditions,
- it has issues with AoE affecting more than 5 players.
According to the steam hardware survey less than 2% of steam devices have a DX 9 GPU. And I doubt any of them are used for serious gaming. I doubt a significant portion of the Guild Wars 2 player-base has a DX 9 GPU too (probably less than 1%).
World of Warcraft has both had a 64-bit client and a DirectX 11 client since even before Guild Wars 2 was released.
I believe many limitations of the game could be overcome is they updated their engine to support more modern APIs and hardware.
- The game is enabled to support 3GB of memory on 32-bit systems, 4GB on 64-bit (IMAGE_FILE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE enabled).
- The Dx9 is due to XP support which is still wide spread in many parts of the world. You could have a Dx11 card but if you are running XP you can only use Dx9.
- Game development started in 2007 when quad cores weren’t as prevalent, Vista was being rejected by gamers, another reason for only Dx9, and since Vista was the first Windows OS that had widespread 64-bit support for drivers, a reason why no 64-bit.
As for WoW, when ANet brings in $1 billion USD a year in income, I’m sure they could fund a tiger time to rebuild the game engine for both Dx11 and 64-bit.

Champ trains were the most degenerate style of gameplay I’ve seen evolve in this game. From last summer Champs went from not worth the time defeating to something that drew new players who never learned how to survive on their own. The first nerf the rewards helped a lot and now hopefully this change will “encourage” other forms of gameplay returning.
