RIP City of Heroes
Last year Foxconn in China, the company that assembles the iPhone and iPad among other things, was going to raise the minimum monthly wage to 4,400 RMB or roughly $700 USD a month. That’s before charging room, board, uniforms, etc. since you live at the plant.
RIP City of Heroes
I wonder how hard it may be, with ppl trying to kill you from every possible angle :x
Thanks for the answers
Sometimes not as bad as you would think.
RIP City of Heroes
Also explains the surge in Sprocket prices.
RIP City of Heroes
I’ve never seen FXAA eat more than 1 FPS. FXAA is a post process filter and I can’t imagine it’ll take even 1FPS on a 560Ti.
RIP City of Heroes
Gonna need to role a new character then. Thanks CL.
RIP City of Heroes
First person mode and Rift/Valve VR API support.
RIP City of Heroes
In-game? Where? A YouTube video doesn’t cut it for me.
RIP City of Heroes
Well let’s see what the March 24th announcement says about this. It’s titled “A New Way to Explore the Looks of Guild Wars 2”. I’m expecting both 1st person and Rift/Valve VR API compatibility.
Edit: what was my hands thinking when I typed world instead of person.

Well due to the lack of an in-game tutorial I didn’t even notice traits on my first character until I was in my 20s. And I was still sporting blues until I was in my 50s because I detest soulbound anything. I didn’t want to spend my little amount of coin I had on items that I couldn’t sell when I replaced them.
I never looked forward to trait points, after all if it takes 5 to unlock a trait line, why get “excited” over getting a trait point every level.
RIP City of Heroes
At least with the traits, it seems that they are trying on one hand make it more casual friendly while also giving the more hard core player goals by making higher end traits things need to unlock in content, the skill based reward argument.
I like that they are looking at some of the systems in the game and are redesigning them. Sometimes what looks good on paper to a few designers turns out to be “dumb” once people outside their little band looks at it and points out the obvious flaws (ie 5 points to unlock a trait line vs 1 point but have points be rewarded less frequently).
I’m curious to hear about the other design decisions they’ve decided to reconsider and revamp.
RIP City of Heroes
Thief gets a utility signet slot skill that passively gives them a speed boost, Signet of Shadows, cost 6 skill points. But it is a tier 3 skill so you have to unlock of few prereqs first.
Mesmers are fun as well. My first was a mesmer, my second a thief. I pretty much soloed both of these, other than flash mob DEs. I strongly believe in “discretion is the better part of valor” so when leveling I do try to avoid confrontations which may be a problem for my character. I know for instance that at time vets can be a problem soloing if they have minions while I’m leveling up and forget about taking on champs solo until I’m 80 with exotic items. I have no problem running away.
And what do you mean, traits still start at level 11. That’s not changing until mid April and only to newly rolled characters.

Guess nobody noticed the other thread about this.

RIP City of Heroes
What did you expect? Every unlimited gathering tool? All the town clothes?
I am expecting the Marjory’s Axe and Dagger skins. But seasonal event skins, no. Return of the frost/flame/toxic/metallurgic dye packs? Not if dyes are being redesigned. The mobile crafting station is back. (I can hear the dead whoop from here).
RIP City of Heroes
Check your spam folder. You should have gotten an automatic reply shortly after submitting it telling you they got it.
RIP City of Heroes
Plus you can’t go bellow vendor price plus 1 copper. But if the item doesn’t have a vendor price, you can enter bids for 1c.
RIP City of Heroes
If it’s a problem with CC fees both in NA and the EU then I can understand the minimum. It’s usually a fix fee plus a percentage, maybe a minimum amount for that 2nd half as well.
General FYI, minimum package for Turbine Points is $7.99 for 600, for Perfect World Zen is $10 for 1000, for Nexon NX is $5 for 5000 and Sony Station Cash $5 for 500.
And one other thing. Every hear of the phrase “burning a hole in your pocket”? If you are required to buy more than you need, you are likely to spend the remainder sooner than later, thus needing to buy more when another short term available item or sale comes to pass. Yes it’s a bit predatory but only to those who absolutely can’t keep their impulse control in check.
You know, like gamers.
RIP City of Heroes
Because they’re dumb.
RIP City of Heroes
Don’t tell the Asura that.
RIP City of Heroes
Ah … you do know you can move that armor skin to another set with transmutation stones/crystals right?
RIP City of Heroes
It doesn’t delete “game folders”, at least any that contain actual game or player content. You are deleting the game’s browser cache. Actually you are deleting the game’s Awesomium browser app’s cache.
But you rather not have access to the gem store. If you don’t want to listen to another player, file a support ticket.

(edited by Behellagh.1468)
No. There are enough “exploits” found working within the confines of the playing the game, imagine how many more “cracks” can be found if they allowed players to create content.
RIP City of Heroes
Want to socialize, form a guild. Want to RP, ask around for the server where RPers hang.
RIP City of Heroes
I think in China it’s less than 40 gems a pop to identify. We have over 400 dyes right now, a 500 gem price would be outrageous.
RIP City of Heroes
Pontificating on the China version.
Hmm, a gem store or crafted item to identify an dye that would be unlocked account wide. Okay.
And the Royal system is a loyalty program. Interesting. I wonder if loyalty is measured by cash purchases of gems. Buy X amount of gems, get a chest of goodies. The more gems you buy cumulatively, the better the goodies. We’re going to need to learn the details on that to properly pass judgement.
RIP City of Heroes
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/March-Sale-item-record
Why don’t they tell us?
1) It requires players to check in everyday. And who knows they might buy something they normally won’t.
2) If you knew what was coming, you might not buy the thing on sale today because you only have enough gems for either item. By not knowing you might buy the item on sale today, then when the other one comes up for sale you would be more likely to bite the bullet and buy gems for cash.
RIP City of Heroes
(edited by Behellagh.1468)
Honestly, I’m surprised this hasn’t been posted yet considering how the debate is going.
RIP City of Heroes
Yes. To move it you will need to use transmutation stones/crystals, depending on the level of armors involved.
RIP City of Heroes
Well search here sucks to be frank about it but often that isn’t the problem, it’s usually just not joining in the “official” thread or the largest one or not even bothering to look for similar topics on the first page. And then there are threads were the same arguments are repeated over and over and over again between a handful of players. It’s obvious nobody will be able to convince the other and all it does is raise the post count.
You can use Google to search by adding site:forum-en.guildwars2.com to the end of the query.
RIP City of Heroes
Not surprising. NCSOFT games seem to do one run of merch and once it sells out that’s it. Doesn’t stop them from having some merch for trade shows but they are rarely offered for sale directly.
RIP City of Heroes
Depends if the thread was closed because it derailed or if the subject is simply forbidden to talk about (bots for instance).
RIP City of Heroes
To move it to another set, you only get one copy of the skin.
RIP City of Heroes
+1 for the gentleman in the tux.
RIP City of Heroes
Yeah, just checked.
it is somewhat pervy to sit here and check your breast size before and after pictures but after staring at your ummmm, chest region, I couldn’t see a big difference. Maybe because of the lighting being so different?
Okay this picture should remove any impact of different lightning.
The chest lost some volumeLeft: after patch
right: before patchI just overlayed your before pic (with 50% transparency) over your after pic and the breasts are identical in size and ‘volume’.
Oh seems like you did something wrong because I overlayed them aswell and there was a difference.
I did nothing wrong. Your overlay image does not have them on top of eachother, you have them offset.
They said they adjusted the normal map. I take that as removing any hint of nipple. Nothing about size or shape.
RIP City of Heroes
Probably they were requested to add in the code to gate content by the Chinese publisher. It’s a relatively easy thing to have our servers when queried to say everything is unlocked for our players.
It’s been 18 months since they aligned themselves with them to add the code as well as coordinating the localization port.
RIP City of Heroes
Well there’s been a lot of patching. You might be experiencing disk fragmentation.
RIP City of Heroes
You fight along the way. Actually the XP for previously ignored critters are up to 3x more. Then there’s the DEs you stumble upon. Gathering from mat nodes.
Gods forbid you are just running from POI/Vista/WP/Open Heart to another, how boring.
RIP City of Heroes
How about when you are underwater and get mail? I guess they fly to your underwater mailbox. Now THAT’S dedication to service.
They beat out the postal service, “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds”, because they add underwater flight to the motto.
What? Never heard of flying fish.
RIP City of Heroes
People will buy it and try it. Question would be is the game worth $15 a month? Do they have the time they can devote to the game and feel they get their money’s worth? How many will sit on the fence waiting for them to go with a hybrid F2P model X months after release? How many Hardcore don’t find a satisfactory experience there either?
RIP City of Heroes
True but there is only one HD 7970 OC to 1GHz up at NewEgg. Everything else is an R9 280x, but some of those are also OCed to 1GHz+.
RIP City of Heroes
I would like to know how some gets 100k+ gold on TP without harming the economy.
There is a chinese imigrant guy I know in the city, he explained me how the goldfarmer network works (mafia). Last time I saw he had 100197 Gold.
Isn’t photoshop amazing.
RIP City of Heroes
Actually it’s not recommended since Sandy Bridge, but those warnings normally don’t stop OCers.

Download GPU-Z and check to see if your “Bus Interface” (mid page on right) width is x16. For some reason most of the instances of this reported here is the PCIe width to the graphics card gets stuck at x1 which means the CPU simply can’t talk to the video card fast enough to get your frame rate up.
Note there is a little button with a ? on it next to the “Bus Interface” which launches a small Dx program in case your driver intentionally drops it while out of Dx apps.
Also a bit more information would be nice. A screen shot of your current in game settings, information on your CPU and GPU. Also where are you when you are getting these low frame rates.
Also if you are coming back after 9 months, there may be some settings that have changed their “meaning”.
RIP City of Heroes
At that price point (well just above) an R9 280X or GTX 770. A GTX 760 isn’t that much faster than your old 660Ti and the step below the R9 280X (boosted HD 7970) is an R9 280 which is a boosted HD 7950 which isn’t a lot faster than your 660Ti either.
$300 is a tough price point, not a lot there.

Yes, I know it’s an wholly own subsidiary, I’ve been tracking NCSOFT since 2004. But I’m telling you, NCSOFT can’t simply close ArenaNet, all they can do is divest it and ANet keeps the GW1+2 IP. I can’t say how or why I know, but I do.
The original creators of ArenaNet had already seen publishers buying up game developers for the IP and discard the company (EA, Ubisoft) and didn’t want that to happen to them. So there is a dissolution clause in the sales agreement to prevent NCSOFT simply shutting them down and running off with the IP.
Did you know that ArenaNet for instance hired it’s own advertising firm for the GW2 rollout in NA and EU? NCSOFT corporate which controlled advertising for all of their native titles in NA and EU as well as previous NA based titles had nothing to do with GW2’s ad campaign. It was only after GW2 stupendous opening month or two of sales that NCSOFT dumped it’s existing agency and signed the one that ArenaNet used.
This is why when the first two quarterly conference calls ANet was able to contradict what NCSOFT said about expansions. They may be “owned” but they are very much autonomous to the main office in Seoul, unlike NCEurope and NC Interactive which are micromanaged by Seoul. So NCSOFT gets to count all of ArenaNet’s income as their own and as long as ArenaNet is profitable then NCSOFT is happy. But if NCSOFT becomes dissatisfied with ArenaNet, all they can do is let ArenaNet go, taking their IP with them including the name ArenaNet.
At the time NCSOFT bought ArenaNet, it was a relatively small game company in South Korea. Yet they were given a chance to buy a 2 year old company that included some of the Blizzard employees behind Diablo, Warcraft and Starcraft. And in a country crazy for Starcraft that’s like signing Lucas, Spielberg and Scorsese to an exclusive 10 year contract to your movie studio. It was serious bragging rights, didn’t really have a lot of money so they were a bit flexible about the arrangement.

14 more days guys. Don’t give up so easily.
RIP City of Heroes
Only thing I can suggest is to use a site like this which shows the count down to such events. Select your world (or tab up every world) and see when each event is coming.
RIP City of Heroes
Actually … ANet does own the IP, GW and GW2. There’s a poison pill clause in contract when NCSOFT bought ANet all those years ago. If NCSOFT divests ANet, ANet keeps the GW and GW2 IP.
NCSOFT is more of a sugar daddy during the development cycles. A bank or a book/music publisher providing an advance against future royalties.

1) Six months. I had an epiphany.
2) no
3) From 120g down to 80g or so, had my current character get to Level 80 and bought exotics armor and weapons off the TP.
4) For me, I spend 60-70g a month on gems. For the most part the only thing I buy from vendors are crude and basic salvage kits, mithril gathering tools and armor repairs (I rarely go into areas where I need top end gathering tools). So maybe a gold or two a month. Of course I make all of that back in a month at a couple gold a day. I can only guess how much is skimmed off by the TP. The stuff I don’t/can’t salvage for mats (as well as excess mats) I sell off on the TP and since that is my primary source of income, maybe 12-13g a month in fees and taxes.
