Not really. You are seeing snapshots of the number currently on the “shelf”. We have no idea how many are offered and bought between those snapshots. It’s as accurate as walking into your market and counting the number of boxes of Froot Loops are on the shelf and try to determine how many were sold since the last time you counted.

The only information that can be harvested from the TP is what’s available to everyone already, only total number of bids, items for sales and the current high bid and low sale price. Nothing on actual trading volume or what prices transactions went off at.

I will assume it’s based on the ebb and flow of players throughout the day around the world. Sort of sucks if you play during off peak hours.

Depends on the crap level of the included PSU. The GTX 750 is listed kitten watts peak. Additional 5 amps at 12 volts. That can be a fairly large chunk of a generic 300 watt PSU’s 12 volt generation capacity. True the Intel CPU sips in comparison to one from AMD but it’s a concern. I’ve seen some very dodgy PSUs in prebuilts.

If gw2 or other mmos is the primary game you play, do not buy APU’s or FX processors as they are not designed to run for older cpu intensive software like gw2.

Unless you go in with realistic expectations or you are really cash strapped.

Like to note that Asus has been know to ship even smaller PSUs than HP (however in this case it looks to be 300 watts). So double check the 12v amps stat on the PSU sticker before slapping in an aux power free video card what that PSU. You may also need a PSU upgrade as well as a video card.

I’m excited for GW2’s prospects for China, but I sure hope that this game doesn’t go in a direction because of Kongzhong’s demands.

Even though NA/EU have been with this game for over a year, China can be a major player in the direction of the game due to the playerbase side.

For example, NA/EU would really like to see Cantha, but China (Kongzhong) would be very much against that, which could lead to scrapping that entire project.

That already happened. Cantha was originally part of the game but it was removed because China wouldn’t agree to let GW2 there unless it was removed. That’s why there was a giant hole in Divinities Reach for a year, that used to be the Canthan district which was supposed to eventually lead us into Cantha, but China said no.

The first download was patching the main executable and it relaunches itself after the patch.

The second not downloading anything sounds a lot like when I ran Zone Alarm which would ask if a file previously approved to access the Internet was changed. Problem was sometimes Zone Alarm wouldn’t popup the “is this ok” prompt. Could be something along those lines.

Upside, you can schedule your play around events instead of watching an event website or overlay for it to start. It’s 9:45, do you know where your Jormag is?

Downside, fewer events as far as I can tell. Those who make a living milking them across multiple servers with multiple alts just had their cheese moved.

I’m seeing this as another attempt to dissuade what I’ve been calling degenerate play styles. That in trying to achieve some goal, players have adopted a play style that the devs were trying to avoid. Problem is every time they’ve attempted to restrict these types of play, the more unusual/extreme ways a player finds to continue.

On one hand the devs want players to experience all of Tyria, to avoid grinding. On the other the players want to maximize their loot for the time they are playing so they seek out tasks to provide great rewards and grind them into the ground. This kind of grind will always be a problem because the devs can’t change human (or gamer) nature.

It’s not even a laptop processor it’s a netbook processor designed to compete with Intel’s Atom series.

The integrated graphics portion of the chip, even though it’s called an HD 7310, it’s based on HD 5xxx GPU components and only a few, 80 cores Vs 800 on an HD 5770. It’s more like an underclocked HD 5450.

As for upgrading, BGA means it’s likely soldered onto the motherboard, all 413 “pins”, so upgrade means a motherboard swap and since we know nothing about the rest of your system, it’ll probably be easier to buy a brand new computer than overhaul the existing one.

You can’t have it both ways. You can’t say that storage is cheap and by eliminating the history that ANet can bolster profits significantly.

Again, the OP isn’t talking about 1c upping bids or 1c undercutting of sales. He’s asking about when lowest sale price is 1c above highest bid. Those sawtooth downward spikes in price histories we see all the time and inevitably it’s because a seller is selling more than the current highest bid wants and the leftovers are priced at the old highest bid while the next highest bid was only 1c less.

Lets say you have 100 whatzits and you choose to sell it to the highest buy order for 50c each. Seems straight forward enough but lets say the player with that 50c buy order only wanted 50.

So what happens is the TP first creates a sell order for all 100 at 50c each. It then looks to see if some or all of that order can be filled. It sees the 50 at 50c buy order, assigns half of them to the buyer. Now you are left with a 50 at 50c sell order and buy orders under 50c with a reasonably high likelihood that the next buy order is at 49c.

Voila, a sell order 1c above the highest buy order.

It’s an illusion that you are selling your stuff to a particular buyer because all you really are doing is placing a sell order at that price.

No they do. A look of what items and when they went on sale indicates that they wanted to prevent a series of massive upticks. There was usually a several day cooldown between each popular item.

I think they are starting to see more cash to gold buyers as the exchange rate creeps above 6.5-6.75g for 100 gems.

The new items that went up on the market today is keeping the rate fairly level against players buying gems to sell for gold. But I expect we should see a few large spikes down over the next few days because 5.3g per dollar is a pretty advantageous rate.

The best thing about this change is you can now get a really good view of everyone’s face. It’s the primary thing we can customize at character creation but due to a lack of first person mode we are resorted to standing butt to butt simply to look at a close up of another player’s face.

Only thing I had to do to play is turn off my hat since it’s the size of a beach umbrella now.

Have you ever been to PAX East because there are plenty of “old” games on display there? Lord of the Rings Online has had a large section every year I’ve been (4), in fact just about every MMO has a booth with some type of representation because those games are always trying to sell themselves. As far as where they showcase, there are a lot of companies that go to both, and for a game distributed worldwide from a company that has a market cap of nearly $5 billion I don’t think it’s a stretch to fly out 4 employees for a weekend.

As for the booth babes, well there are some but not really a ton at PAX East and that’s fine by me. I don’t need to see people being objectified to decide which games I want to play.

But LotRO isn’t an NCSOFT game. My point was NCSOFT usually doesn’t feature “old” games at a con unless there was an major paid update. Not saying that they are cheap but I can’t remember a time when NCSOFT thought it was worth the money to have a booth when there was nothing to truly new to show. A game’s developer yes but NCSOFT no.

Do you see signs “promoting” the TP from ANet? No, the people who are “promoting” are the ones who keep saying that the only way to make a lot of gold in the game is to play the TP and how unfair it is.
