I think what Vayne is trying to say is… GW2 is still one of the most popular mmorpg on the market eventhough the game have been out for 2 years.
That being said just about every mmorpg is slowly leaking players. Very few can refill new players as fast as they lost.
this is not really true, most of the historical successful MMOs expanded before the contracted. WoW, FFXI, FFXIV RO EQ Lineage etc.
the bleeding usually comes later in the cycle after they have peaked.many mmos do bleed players, but those are generally not the ones that are seen as successful,
Besides WoW that are all asian games .. and the market in asia can’t really be
compared with the west.
Lineage 2 for example had 2 million players when i played it, but only 64.000 in
the west 2 months after release.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
So .. how many people really play Lineage 1 in the west ?
I know Lineage was the biggest MMO before release of WoW, but it was always only
strong in Asia.
Lineage 2 had for example 2 million players when i played it, and here in the west
they happily announced 64.000 players 2 months after release.
And Crossfire .. i never even heared that name at all.

2. Archeage release. I know for a fact that many big guilds left for AA, as guilds.
I bet that were all those people that wantet to have person to person trading here to scam people, and of course open world PvP
But seriously .. that game really seems to be such a mess of scamming, griefing, bots and recently even more and more hacks .. its not even funny anymore.
Well, thats not the point, i wasn’t trying to say that AA is a great game. No, the thing is, AA is very guild oriented game, some went for all that farm/housing crap, some hardcore WvW guilds for open world PvP etc. And another thing, the main point here is not about AA, it’s about ppl being ready to leave. If this assumption is true, then that’s the problem.
In the end you just said what we all now, that a lot of MMO player are just like
locusts .. they consume content and go to the “next big thing”. Be it ESO or WS
or AA or Black Desert, or Generic Asia Grinder 4711 .. or even some single player
games .. or whatever.
And even if ANet would give them a full expansion a lot of them would cosume that
in 2 weeks, and leave after that to GrindAge 12 because they are bored again.

32-bit Windows can only use 4 GB in total .. and 2 GB per application. Since also some
Memory is used for system thats in reality something like 3.5 GB total, and 1.5 per application.
So no .. its not enough. Only solution is to upgrade to 64-bit Windows.

That gw2spidy link is invalid. The API call for gem prices was mysteriously disabled as soon as the patch hit, so that graph shows gem prices up until immediately before the patch, when they suddenly became very expensive.
The API still wirks :
https://www.gw2tp.com/gems
The price jump however is really strange.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
For the last few months, the price of getting 100 gems was hovering around 12.5-13gold. However after this patch, on the new system it says that 400 gems will cost 83g15s which is an average of 20.78 gold for 100 gems.
This is especially relevant when you look at the external websites (gw2spidy.com/gem) that track the gem buy and sell price, and who have the price listed at 15g20s at the time of this post. That is a disparity of nearly 6 gold difference added on per 100 gems. Are we to believe that this increase is purely from customer demand? I don’t think so. No previous event has made the price of gems rise this sharply and the price stats from external sites do not tally.
I wanted to highlight this here, because not many people seem to have noticed, and the more people that do, the more noise can be made about it.

I like the UI, but I’d like it better if you put at the bottom or top a section to Fill in Your Own values. Best of both worlds, you know?
^ this, I’m posting it again and I will post it again on devs working time (more chance of them seeing it)
^ This
Will also post it again and again, that what we really need is just to type in the number
of gems we want to buy, instead of the number of gold we want to use.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
The old system worked absolutely fine and needed no change whatsoever.
It needed just one change :
If you wanted to buy gems, you enter the amount of gems you want, and you see the price
That would have been much better than randomly trying to change the gold numbers
until you finally get the number of gems you want.
THAT was the really confusing part.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Overall, GW2 is in a good place, thankfully to its strong, consistent aesthetic. If I could improve anything, it’d be these:
-higher res textures with improved normals (pretty much everywhere, some areas look like they were built back when GW1 was still in its prime)
-higher poly models on older weapons and minor environmental objects.
Not before they make a 64-Bit Client, else they would shoot themself in the foot
because there are now already people who crash because they need more than
3,5 GB of Memory with everything maxed in big zergs.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
What really is needed is just that we can type in how much Gems we want to buy and then see the amount of gold it costs .. instead what we had where we had to randomly try a number of gold until we finally get the correct number of gems.

Personally i had much more fun with LS1 than with LS2 .. and even since the LS2 stuff
is replayable i really don’t have any interest in playing it more than once.
So personally i would have rather seeing LS2 more than LS1 instead what we have now.
However that LS2 was mostly just 2 looong breaks makes it maybe look worse that it
really is for me.

If u think u can stack in a corner and spam 1 to down bosses, u clearly never been in a raid. As i was saying, the rewards would only be skin with no stats increase, as u progress better skin would drop, but bosses encounter would get harder more complicated and would require better planning. Most raid bosses has attack that can potientally wipe a whole raid if not interupted.
We are not in EQ2/WoW/Rift here .. the number game that raids in these kind of
games have doesn’t work here .. and yes i have raided in EQ2 and i am here because im
simply sick of that kind of stuff.
If you like that .. please go there and have fun .. but don’t turn the only game that
is different into the same kind of sh**

Personally i felt this LS lackluster when it comes down to LENGTH. I mean it’s like playing half of what S1 gave us (excluding the fail Scarlet). All events in this LS took place in 1 map that opened slowly. The new map is not bad if u go over the intensive lag it makes.
As kitteneason1 was…i clearly remember the first time robots appeared on a map..then on another..then on another..then the attack on one of the most iconic capitals in the game. After that the marionette….after that LA fight. Everything in it definitely felt more epic and long…making it seem like a serious fight. It also took more people to do..which gave the impression it’s something hard where everyone should contribute. This has it’s good sides and it’s bad sides…but overall gave it the feeling it was a long tedious fight against something big.
Now …if i think of S2..i don’t remember honestly anything important. A new small map opens up that has lag, but interesting mechanics. Funny thing is the most interesting part was the Charr story and the sacrifice Rytlock did… Definitely more memorable then anything else that happened in S2 lol.
The scenes which we got in other maps were extremely short and they all led to the new map in the end…so the overall feeling is everything took place in 1 map.
Compared to this think of the S1…we were having fights on numerous maps that continued for quite some time….+ i feel like the timelength overall of S1 was much greater then S2.
I dunno…..S2 feels very lackluster…and hearing it ends soon makes me go “meh..really?…that’s it?” Practically sacrificed quantity for quality…the quality is definitely better ..u have to be dumb not to see that….but this is an mmo….quantity is a major point. That’s why ppl desperately ask ANet for expansions..because of the very small quantity of actual content we receive.
The quality of the LS story is at a good level by my standards…but the quantity that should have kept me playing is half of what S1 was.
That’s my personal opinion atleast.
Totally agree. I don’t even have have any interest to replay any of these instances
a second time .. so i don’t care about that its replayable .. in LS1 i wasted much more
time and had lot more fun.
Heck i even just need to watch LS2 on YouTube .. its something that isn’t really
connected to the game .. just another instance in a parallel universe .. while LS1
changed the real world.
LS will be ending? EXPANSION CONFIRMED!
Nope .. instead LS we will get now 1 raid every 6 months .. and a new tier of armor
since that will “save the game”
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Sure raiding not be for everyone. But there needs to be a way to show the effort people put into the game by completing raid content. A way to distance the hardcore mass that sticks around weeks after weeks learning the fight from the filthy casual that enjoy spamming 1
Yeah .. content for the elitists that constantly insult all other players .. that will save the game .. why not ban 90% of the players because they are just “filthy casual #1 spammers”
so that we only have those real skilled corner stackers left, since they are the only
one that counts.
Than delete the whole open world that you can login directly from charselect
to a corner where you can stack and kill a boss with spamming #1.
And new content .. every month that boss gets double hitpoints and hits for double
damage, and the corner gets another color .. and since you got gear that also
doubled your hitpoints and the damage you do .. in the end nothing changes
but hey .. its called progression and will keep those players that think they are
so much wiser than everybody else.

I don’t understand. Why would someone want to turn off a feature that tells you what your skills do?
Because at some point you know what the skills do and don’t need the tooltips
any longer .. or whatever.. in the end more options are always better.
In some other MMOs you can even change the delay of the tooltips for example and
that is maybe even better than just to disable them.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
But creating content that gives the best items only to 1-5% of the playerbase while
kittening of the rest of the playerbase is not really something that would keep “people”
interestet .. and maybe made all those people leave that choose this game mainly
for the reason that they simply had enough from these raid-grinders.
More maps .. yes .. more world bosses .. yes of course .. more skins .. yes .. could never
have enough .. but raids (in form of inszanced WoW-style raids) .. no thanks.

The only MMO so far where i thought underwater combat is not totally bad was Champions Online, and even there most people avoided the underwater zone like the plague.
Not that there aren’t beautiful places here underwater .. but fighting .. no thanks.

lol stop clicking? never seen someone complain about this.
Some people are simply bad at typing .. i never learned it (i’m 50) so i still type just with 3-4 fingers and have even to look onto the keyboard often to hit the right key .. so mouse clicking is much better for me most of the time.
I also have bought a G600 .. but i’m also not really good in using more than 4 keys on that one, and often waste my elite skill or whatever when i don’t wanted to use it.

Implementing DX11 by itself wouldn’t do much good. It could be a tiny performance upgrade, but that’s about it. People often think DX upgrades are some miracle patches that make games look better, but that’s far from the truth. In fact, The Witcher 2 – still one of the best-looking games out there – is a DX9 game.
First – you can’t compare a game like Witcher 2 to GW2. Witcher 2 is a single player, somewhat linear game with closed environments. It looks kitten pretty, but it’s nowhere near as complex as GW2 in terms of map size or character interaction.
Second – DX11 would be a big improvement as it specifically allows for the use of multi-threading in a way that DX9 just doesn’t. It allows threading to scale with the number of cores available on the CPU. DX9 has a specific number of threads regardless of the computer its running on. It would also allow for the use of DirectCompute to further enhance performance.
Yes but the engine would need to also be recoded to be more multithreaded than it currently is to get the most out of a Dx11 port.
It would take some work, but it’s not unheard of. WoW has added DX11 support, as did Lord of the Rings Online.
WoW had income over $1 billion a year for a few years there, they could afford to devote a small building of devs with game engine development experience to recoding it. GW2 is only in the $80-100 million income range.
You ignored LOTRO, which had nowhere near GW2’s income.
When i tried it in Lotro the performance wasn’t better in any case, sometimes even
worse than with DX9, and i switch back to DX9 very fast.

Sigh .. i wonder if Microsoft first asked ANet before they implemented such a feature into Windows :
This doesn’t work. Tried it.
It doesn’t work because it only deletes temp-files that have not been touched for
over 5 day i think. It should just show you that there are even tools directly into
Windows that delete temp files ..
So if you still don’t want to do it manually, just don’t play GW2 for 5 days.
