I don’t think you have ever programmed anything and tried to test everything that users can maybe do wrong. Because you can spend much more time with that then with the programming, and in the end the users will still make something that you never in your wildest dreams could have imagined.

So the choice is more to live with bugs in updates, or get new updates maybe once in 6-12 months instead regulary. And even these updates will have bugs of course.

I’ve got 3 wings so far. From Level 3, 7 and 50 mobs, so every mob can drop them

I choosed Order of Whisper armor for chest and legs for my female Norn ranger

And Southsun Cove has a source for T6 blood, scales, and poison sacs, but as far as T6 totems, claws, fangs, and ancient bones, if Anet don’t do something about the nerfs soon they will be going the way of the DUST soon also.

I sold fangs for 20-22s before the Souuthsun event started. After that they went down to 11-12s .. so i think they also must drop there. Bones and claws however went up .. and when i tried to farm the Icebrood in Frostgorge i had the feeling they were also nerfed, because actually maybe 1 of 10 mobs does drop anything at all.

I also still think they should give dust to the droptable from high-level Ice-Elementals, since i saw level 40+ Ice-Elementals drop T3 dust.

People have listed lots of good suggestions above. It’s worth noting that, until you start adventuring frequently in level 80 zones, your income will be nowhere near the levels people are quoting.

As long as you don’t compare everything to CoF Path 1, you can even make some nice money in lower level zones, if you constantly harvest everything and sell all mats you get from that and from mobs.

For example i started a new character a few days ago , i did so far 4 starter Zones and Gendarran Fields complete, and was a little in Lornas Pass. After 20 hours played i had at least 17 Gold and i had constantly bought new Items every 5 levels.

Also i was harvesting a lot in Dredghaunt Cliffs the last weeks, and if i sell everything that also can give me 2-3 Gold per hour, and thats not much less than i get when i farm in Level 80 zones, especially since prices of T5 mats are now under 1 silver and also Blood and Fangs have gone down with the Karka-Event.

The Champs in the Orr events will maybe have 10 times more hitpoints and deal even more damage .. there you have your challenging raid content. Something like that is very much what i expect :/

You should try mobs at lvl70-71 too, my friend in the southsun event with its upscale took his lvl70 character to play there and he already got t6materials. And even tho the mobs were lvl80 u can only get drops to your lvl (like a lvl10 player will get t1-t2 materials), I assume that if you can get t6 at lvl70-71 these lvl mobs should drop them already.

Mobs of that level don’t drop T6 .. i farmed the Minotaurs in Frostgorge a while back, and they are 72 i think, and the never dropped T6 blood.

The most money you make is not with items like armor or weapons, but with all these crafting materials, or the different kind of bags. Never sell them at an NPC and always look what they give at the Trading Post. Also harvest all wood, ore and herbs, and always look for what you can sell that .. at the moment a lot stuff sells for good prices.

I wished every time somebody cries for “more challenge” a dev would directly flag their characters for permadeth and say : here you have it.

I harvest in Dredgehaunt cliffs .. T3 (?) wood is over 60c .. Gold-Ore over 90c .. and there are some rare Herbs (don’t know the english name .. its Rosmarin in german) that go for over 7s .. record was 8.50

Also there are a lot nice short events on my round where i mostly just need to slay a veteran and thats it.

That the devs want us to farm CoF is however contradictory to the theory that they want us to buy gold in the shop .. because .. CoF generates Gold while farming T6 mats not even doesn’t generate gold , it also removes gold from the game when we trade them.

Fix Orr by returning it to the improved state of the January update and you will have gone a long way towards addressing the grievances addressed in this thread. And, Anthony, I agree there is a sweet spot. No one wants loot to rain from the sky simply because you’ve brandished your sword, and no one wants a loot wasteland. I wish you success in finding that sweet spot.

I’m all for bringing Orr back to the old state .. but i bet if someone starts a thread about that there will be a couple of people jump in and complain that not all should be “faceroll” content that we can do while being Akitten .. or things like that. Even if this people themself don’t play there and run CoF all the time .. or whatever.

Lots of people who hate dungeons farm solo. That will continue. The price has dropped because for the time being, Southsun is more profitable than Orr. When the event is over it will change again.

I know .. i’m myself somebody who prefers open world farming. At the moment it also confuses me what is with the prices from T3 wood, herbs, gold and whatever. They also are really high at the moment. One specific herb i sold for a max 7.5 silver today.

However i’m happy about that because i can make some nice money now with harvesting in a lvl 45 zone .. and thats much more the vision of the game then just running CoF

As I have recently run out of my own supply of t6 dust this thread caught my eye. I have not farmed too extensively anywhere but I do have a simple question.

Sure the stationary location farming spots have been nerfed to be less effective than before, but can you not just farm the zone by moving around and still loot the dusts?

I see outrage because of a “spot” or two are not worth it anymore, but I can’t believe that dust is completely unobtainable anymore unless those spots become active again.

The problem is, that the answer to everything is : go farm CoF Path 1 .. and nobody seems to notice that there drops no dust .. and the more people that farm CoF the higher the prices of dust will go until it is maybe as high that you can earn the same money with farming in Orr than with doin CoF.

Uniqueness and fungibility are excluding each other. How can something unique and reflect your excellence if everybody can buy it without the effort to complete challenging stuff? To preserve uniqueness you have to bind it to character or account.

I get the impression reward means for many people to build up oligopolic structures to control markets and to earn a lot of money by selling rewards. In last consequence you want only pile up money faster than other players. Elitisms is just another word for avarice.

He’s not saying he wants unique skins as an kitten meter to show to other players.

He’s saying that those unique skins functioned as a reward system that motivated players to do the harder content.

Why should these people need a reward to do that content, when they say that the so badly want to play content like that ? If thats the case then beating the content must be reward enough .. if not .. then all they search is a way to earn goods faster than others.

In the end thats mostly the fact .. do easy and challenging content with similiar rewards, and most people that only wanted the challenge and are sooo bored say suddenly : why should i take the hard way when i earn the same on the easy way.

Thats also why the trick with one hand tied behind your back never works .. beat the same content the hard way gives no better rewards.

Yeah .. wait till 80 .. else statwise i would go for the first since you barely do any condition damage beside maybe a little bleed from a trait.

1. Some of us enjoy it.
2. You don’t have to like it or do it… just like you don’t ‘have’ to PvP or WvW.
3. Those cheap mats you are so excited to buy… they are cheap because of farmers and likely the bots too. Take farmers AND bots out… enjoy the huge spike in mat prices.
4. Like it or not… these “farmers” you are hating on… are working for you! Saving you money and making some of their own at the same time.

So… next time you are at the TP getting a good deal… remember… “farmers” are part of the reason the prices are lower.

Not to mention that there’s absolutely nothing wrong for a gaming company to cater both to hardcores and casuals. In fact, it would be a lot of a better business plan than what they have now. Having both markets play your game is better than only having one of them…

Thats the big question. Is it really better when 50% of your developer ressources are spent for maybe 5% of the playerbase .. and 50% for the other 95% .. or are these 95% kitten ed of maybe after a while because it would be so much better if they get 100% and also a chance to get some nice shinies that normally only these 5% have.

What confuses me the most her is, that all these selfcalled elitists didn’t had the skill to find out that GW2 was a casual game long before release. Even very casual skills in using Google would have already been enough for that task.

It’s all been said but yes, Anet is pretty actively interested in nerfing farming areas almost as soon as they are discovered. Which is very paradoxical because this game is probably the grindiest MMO I’ve ever played.

The only conclusion is: they want the game to remain ‘the casuals paradise’, catering to the vast majority of the playerbase that plays less than 8 hours a week and spends RL money on the cash shop to buy gems. (Which they can then exchange for gold at a ridiculous exchange rate)

The big question for me is however still : why don’t they do anything about CoF Path 1 where people can farm so much more than anywhere else ?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but T6 dust used to drop from Risen, correct? I mean, T1 through T5 dusts all drop from Risen, and I believe T6 dust did as well, but it was nerfed to no longer drop from Risen in an attempt to raise its price.

Nope .. it was changed more because people said : we only get this worthless dust from risens and blood is so expensive.

I did it with my wife last night. After a relatively disappointing afternoon I got another 10 in about 20 minutes of farming. She only got 2 in the same time period.

Whether you believe me or not I don’t care. RNG is RNG. I am many things, but I’m no liar.

Thats why these numbers don’t say anything when you only farmed for a short amount of time. I also had times when i killed 4 Arctodus and got 2 powerful blood a vicious claw and a vicous fang .. however thats normally not the fact and i get maybe one T6 maybe every 3-5 minutes or every 20-25 mobs with 76% MF .. and also there are times when absolutely nothing drops for maybe 30+ minutes.

And yes .. i counted the drops for maybe 20+ hours at least.

Might be somewhat problematic as they keep removing farming spots.

One problem was maybe also that they have listened to the players that always said Blood is to expensive, and changed the loot to of the Risen that they don’t only drop Dust and Bones anymore.

So maybe they should now also alter the droptables from other mobs that they can also drop dust. Just recently i noticed for example that Ice-Elementals in Dredgehaunt-Cliffs can drop Dust .. so maybe they should add that also to higher level icebrood mobs

Logically speaking, Dust should be have the LOWEST price since it’s used a lot. Anet themselves designed it to have to lowest price it’s common sense. Being cheated in real life is just as painful as being cheated in game. AND even if it’s only a “virtual” economy, its still economy. It’s a very sensitive topic to people.

Anet hasn’t designed it that way else you could buy everything at an NPC for a fixed price and mobs only drop gold. Instead we have a market and prices are regulated by supply and demand and if there is no supply then maybe the farmers have to farm on another spot for a while.

Good for solo is farming Arctodus in Frostgorge Sound, they drop Blood, Fangs and Claws. At the moment it is even nice to just run through Dredgehaunt-Cliffs and harvest all Metal, Wood and Herbs since all prices are very high at the moment, also there are always some nice short events on the way where you only have to kill a veteran.

Warrior with axe .. has the best auto-attack as far as i know.

Yeah I get that a lot about xp, I like it better than the later versions.

The biggest problem with XP is, that you will have a hard time to find goot 64-bit drivers, or of course that 32-bit only supports 2 GB for a single application, and 4 GB total minus the mapped memory for a video-screen.

I hope so for the powerful blood and vicous fangs, since that was my best source of income. I just wonder why vicous claws are so high at the moment, while blood and fangs went down.

You can try this :

-Close GW2
-Go to C:\User\<you windows user name>\AppData\Local\Temp and look for a folder named gw2cache-{<bunch of hexadecimals>} and delete the directory or its content.
-restart GW2

Not giving raids their own reward tokens wouldn’t make sense – if you want dungeon armor now, you have to do dungeons. If you want raid armor then you have to do raids. Same stats, different aesthetics, but yeah. SOMETHING has to be given as reward

Nope .. i don’t have to raid for raid-armor .. simple because we don’t have raids. And this mindset is also why i am strictly against raids.

Threads like these always begin with saying that people only want it because all the fun and challenge they like so much .. but on the long run they always end with : why should i do that if i don’t get exclusive stuff to show i’m so much better than the rest.

Its just so that the people have to do something (reading patchnotes) when waiting for the download to finish .. instead of staring on the progress bar

More or less the same mobs over and over .. the area i run around is in the end not bigger as when you do the tunnel-events in Orr.

Its normally possible with all other skins to transmute them to your next item, so i think it should also work with that one .. only that you need transmutation stones the next time.

I’m not really a fan of these mini-games, also i never was good at Jump&Run and thats why i played RPGs .. so what i really want as non-combat content is a good housing system like we had in Everquest 2

I have to disagree, I have got the value back many times on my pick, the simple fact of not having to use extra slots to carry more or having to equip a new one every time one breaks is nice and that alone makes it worth it to me. I just can’t wait for perm axe and sickle. Truth be told, they need more things like this in the store and less town clothing.

Oh yeah .. i really also wait for an axe and sickle .. especially since at the moment i am harvesting a lot since the prices for wood and also everything you can find in Dredgehaunt Cliffs are so nice at the moment.

So if someone kills a mob it should never respawn, and in the end the world is empty and for all new players there are no mobs left to kill ? This simply don’t works in an open world, it only works in personal instances. Or do you want Mob camping like in Everquest where some rare mobs only spawned once in a week, and so you needed maybe years to kill them for your quest, because 1000s of peoples also needed to kill him.

Bank slots, character slots .. and the pick axe if you like the look. You will maybe never get the value back, but if you like the look its more like a skin .. and of course you never need to carry spare picks again

Gladiator Armor is fine as long as you don’t have the money for T3. Also i would primarly buy just the T3 breastplate and leg-armor

Also Barbaric Breastplate fits nice to T3 legs in my opinion. Here a picture of that combo :

Yeah .. there are really not many nice dagger skins. At the moment i just use the T3 Sylvari skin on my Necro and Elemtalist.

No, that isn’t possible. They fixed that because the cultural models simply don’t exist for all races, and you could end with beeing naked when you equip for example human armor on a Charr.
