I don’t really need the account-bound feature, so for me it was more a bad thing that new tools should now cost 1000 instead of 800 gems
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I suspect I am in the minority in being unhappy in the account bound infinite gathering tool change. So be it, because I am unhappy. Not because it is a bad thing for some – it is a great thing for many, in fact – but because I quite simply prefer to pay 800 gems for a soulbound tool than 1000 for an account bound (insomuch that, I was intending to finish outfiting my main characters with tools, and now will probably not bother, nor do I have any intention whatsoever of unbinding the infinites I do have).
Can it be an option for people like me to get an infinite gather tool that soulbinds for 800 gems currently or in the future, while others can choose to get the account bound for more? Again, and if this becomes possible, I will cheerfully keep (or accept and use) something that removes the option to account bind my current infinites. I am quite happy with the infinite gathering tools I have, and would acquire more, but I do not want to do a bank shuffle to pass them between my characters, and I don’t want to be paying out 25% more than what I am already to see to the outfitting I do desire.
I’m in the same boat. I gather a lot, have 4 characters that are fully equipped with these tools, and a 5th that has 2 of them and need only a logging axe now.
Shifting them around from char to char is not really an option for me since i switch chars every 10-15 minutes often when i gather.
So the change to accountbound is not really helpfull for me, having to pay 1000 instead 800 now for more tools however is a bad move for me
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
very good on them. I would rather them not be account bound and pay less. but I am a cheap skate and in the minority. I am happy that they made them account bound for the masses.
Yeah, i need all of my 14 tools and will at least need one more logging Axe .. since i often gather with 4-6 characters, and shifting the tools around all the time is not an option.
Maybe they should give us a discount .. the more tools you already have the cheaper they get

In the future, this issue will not be a factor for our players because the devs are going to make some changes to these particular items that will make them account bound instead of soulbound. We don’t have a timeframe for this change, but we’re really happy that it’s coming and I think it’ll be soon.
Let the wait begin !

I’d love to see this.
I bought the Krytan set for the vest. There are some pants and shoes i would like to get as well, but they are from two different sets. I don’t feel like paying 1600 gems for a pair of pants and a pair of shoes.
Yeah .. paid twice 1600 for the combo of Brahams vest and Etherblade leggings, everything else i will maybe never use and have already destroyed some of that.
Btw.: i would even be fine if they want to have 300-400 for single pieces if we still have the option to buy the full set. Maybe 400 for vest and leggings and 300 for the other less visible items.

You Warriors have it easy. At least you have an elite skill that is useful 100% of the time — Adrena Signet.
Yeah, i really wished we had something similiar than that for every profession since is simply hate long cooldowns and nearly never use these skills then since i always think : oh better don’t use it now since maybe you need it later.

GW2 isn’t supposed to be about grinding or farming, so this change is a positive step to help move away from that.
If it isn’t supposed to be about grind and farm, then they shouldn’t have put in time gated crafting, nor recipes that require a hundred or more of A item to craft ONE item of, never mind a kittening set. Times how ever many alts you have the temerity to roll.
THEY created the grind. THEY created the REQUIREMENT to farm to feed it. THEM. WE don’t have access to the code.
People still don’t understand that the “no grind” thing was just about leveling and get maybe exotic gear, that was the best gear at release. And for that you really don’t have to grind.
Everything else is optional, only for the looks. But for that ANet created of course receipes that need so much stuff that you have of course to grind/farm if you want to get them. But Grind/Farm is needed in every MMO else you play it 2-3 months and have finished.
The only difference is the form of the grind. In other MMOs its mainly run Dungeon / Raid T1 1000 times to get Gear so that you can run Raid T2 1000 to get gear to run T3 1000 times .. and so on and so on ..
Here its more farm money to buy whatever you want .. since i don’t like raiding i still prefer that.

This is why i just have the signet elite on my warrior and almost never actually use it, just go off the passive.
The Elite Signet is really the one signet that should be active whenever you can use it. Its really one of the best elite skills i know, and the recast timer doesn’t restart when the active part ends like on so many others. So if you have 48s recast with signet mastery and the skill lasts for 30 seconds you can recast it 18 seconds later. Now take some food that gives longer boon duration and maybe 2 Runes of Water and you can have it active nearly all the time.

Since the total amount of cash in-game is continually going up (gems to gold)
Gems to Gold doesn’t create more Gold, the Gold that is bought is not created from thin Air, its actually the Gold that people pay when they exchange Gold to Gems.
New Gold is only created from Champion Bags, Dungeon Rewards, Event Reward and stuff you sell to NPCs, and the very low money that mobs drop sometimes.

I think the bigges problem they have with making DEs more rewardings is, that they are so different from the time / effort that is used for some of them so that instead of generic rewards that we seem to have now (1,5 Silver, 300 Karma or whatever) they have to assign maybe a reward to any event manually.
And then there is the problem that you actually get always a reward even if you just hit a mob around the area.
Now if it gets better rewards people will maybe just hit a mob in a 10 minute defend location event and run to the next, while 1 person left standing with a higher scaled event and has to do it all alone.
I want really better rewards, but i can imagine that it is hard to find a good solution for the whole system and there must maybe really tracked exactly how many damage everyone does in an event and things like that, and the have to move away from the thing that everybody gets the same rewards. That however will bring people even more to cry about Class A is better than Class B and things like that.

WoW has so many advanced features to it that, for some people, the whole game is centered around making a beautiful UI.
Haha .. yeah since the UI is the worst i ever saw in an MMO, and even all the addons are not able to let that crappy map show you where you really are.

Try Rift. I downloaded it about a week ago and have been enjoying it very much. There is literally at least 50x more to do in Rift than in GW2…. I’ve been doing PvP and getting rewards for PvE, I’ve been exploring the world while questing, and I’ve been enjoying the guild features that GW2 should’ve had at the beginning of its existence.
Yes some of these people have played this game probably over 3k hours and are bored, but you have played rift week and you still have lot’s of thing to do there.
That may be true, but I can tell you that once I hit level 60, I’ll be playing Rift for 1 to 2 years…. that’s how much there is to do.
Played the game when it was released, and was bored after 3-4 months since even if it was fun in the beginning, in the end it was just again another Raid-Grinder, and if you don’t like Raids there was not much more to do that daily faction grind and of course there was no chance to get better stuff.

Nope, when using one of those shouts, you always automatically select the next target and attack it, even if you have nothing selected before. Its really annoying, and normally i always try to only use it when no Mobs are near.
You even attack ambient creatures that can normally not targetet via tab.

there’s nobody on the lower level maps and im on Tarnished coast , and they must make content way harder on level 70+ zones or otherwise people are reward for braindead clicking .
And there is nearly nobody on all Server at Southsun Cove, so why can’t you just stop to wanting them to create even more such Maps that noone wants to play ?
If you want it harder .. fine .. just solo naked Vets and Champs on Southsun, but just stop to force everyone into something they don’t want to play.

100 % female characters on male player here too.
Don’t try finding strange explanations. Games are a visual art and RPGs let you create an avatar as you like.
I used to draw a lot before and I could draw perfect female characters but my male characters looked poor and bland. I just can’t find me interested enough in male characters to learn to do them properly. In games it is the same. A good deal of the interest of MMOs, and GW2 among them, is playing dressup with your character. Please, don’t try to deny it. Almost anything you can obtain and that is worth is visuals.
Than I can’ find myself wanting to dress up a male character. I prefer to create a stunning female one.Simple fact: this is a visual game in which the ultimate goal is to obtain nice outfits for your toon. I can’t find myself interested in dressing up a male toon. Really…
Well said .. very much the same here

I was always saying how it would be nice to be able to buy a certain piece of a set since you might not like all of it. Perhaps 400 gems is a bit over the top, but I don’t mind really. Neither do I like them to begin with, but okay.
I would have paid 400 happily for Brahams Brestplate and the heavy Etherblade Leggings since i only used those 2 parts from that sets.

The concept that is hard to get is that it’s somehow ‘fun’ to run in circles killing the same 5 mobs over and over again for hours. I don’t run into many people who actually do consider this ‘fun’, they mostly do it to get ‘stuff’.
If it is so much more fun to run Dungeons, than maybe the people would do that, since you can make even more money there.
The thing is, people are different and whats fun for you might be unfunny for others and vice versa.
Personally i’m also not a big fan of doing champs longer than maybe 2-3 rounds, and i hate dungeons … but why should i cry for nerfs all the time just because i personally prefer other playstyles ?
Yeah .. i hate dungeons .. rewards should be no better than 1,5s and 250 karma .. the same you get for doing a DE for 15 minutes ?

Do you want to know how many SP I got within 1 year of play? Over 2000. And you think 1 SP a day is a shortcut? Let’s do the math, shall we?
2000/365 = 5.479~
That’s 5 and a half SP per day I’ve gotten over the course of my playtime in GW2 the last year. That’s through dungeons, exploring, etc., and includes days I didn’t play in the average. If I did play as religiously those days as I did most of the time, I’d probably be over 3K or 4K SP.
I have 11 characters, so if i do the math and get my SP daily on every character thats
365 * 11 = 4015
So twice what you got in your year of playing.

Because a game should be fun and not actually work ?

Well, that’s why I consider the Bazaar to be the best release since summer. Some achievs sent you on a series of jumping puzzles, another forced you to win a really competitive race… And all this with absolutely no zerg to help you out. Had loads of fun back then.
I only wished they already had the dailys there since i’m not good at jumping and so never got the meta

The problem is, that people who say they want “challenge” mostly forget to say that they in reality want better exklusive rewards. And if other players say that they want that in reality they mostly say : Nooooo .. we just want the challenge.
So, if ANet then creates more challenging content but without better/exclusive rewards, nobody plays it. Best example is Southsun.

Events are just unrewarding if you don’t need the exp to level up. At 80 its just 1,5 silver and 250 Karma or whaetver for 5-15 minutes and even that was nerfed now since we even don’t get a reward anymore when events fail.
So why should we do them when i just need to harvest a tree to get 4,5 silver in 5 seconds ?

Beldin: You are buying the whole armor set (6 pieces) you can choose to use them however you like. In this case there is no choice, you can get 1 piece for 400 and 2 for 800 but there is no full set and a la carte is way out of proportion.
I know that i will use only one piece but i can’t decide to just buy that piece alone, i only can sell 800 for that piece i want. Don’t see a big difference for me.
I would be happy if i could get every single item of these sets for “only” 400 gems.

Gathering materials is rarely a cost effective use of time. Outside of Orichalcum Ore and Ancient Wood Logs, you’re almost always better off spending your time doing something more profitable (such as farming events, running dungeons, etc.) than spending your time gathering.
When i gather i make around 5-7g per hour, and thats with maybe gather 8-10 minutes and then make a break for 3-4 minutes to sell stuff and relax .. can’t say that is so bad escpecially since it really very relaxed and you can make breaks whenever you want
And no .. i don’t talk about T6 mats here.

Just remove the stupid timers .. now when there are 3-4 people at Jormag you know you don’t really have to begin with trying it. Without timer you can start and maybe even more people join after a while. That was simply much better in the past.

You have 5 zones for copper, then 25-40 gives iron (So that’s about 6-8 zones), then 40-50 gives platinum and 6o-70 gives platinum into Mithril. 70+ almost always gives Mithril ore, with only 80’ed zones (4) which have Orilachium, and that’s about 5 nodes a map +/- compared to the 20 or so Mithril nodes.
Iron goes up to at least lvl 50 (Dredgehaunt Cliffs). Platinum and Silver are different since they are not used for weapons, only for Jewlery.
Personally i’m happy with the mats prices, since i like running around gathering much more than doing champ trains for earning money

The only way you can kill Jormag is to join the uber zerg right at daily reset time (8PM Eastern), but half the time you will be shunted to an overflow, and the other half you will not get enough strikes in to get credit. ANET Please remove the useless timers from these events so that the mere mortals can actually participate! Thanks!

I don’t understand this bit I’ve bolded in your post. Skill points are character bound. There’s no wallet feature for them, so there would literally be no benefit to making armies of alts to gather up skill points from the obelisk.
You can buy some items used for crafting ascended or Mystical Forge Stuff in LA for SPs. These items are account-bound, so there is the benefit.

Haha nice one, read my post again Gw2 is an MMORPG, why I have to solo to get the challenge I want? They are just punching bags with 3 billion hp. Sometimes I find dungeons a bit boring and I wanted to try some open world content but it looks like it’s full of people like you that want everything given to them for free. It’s ok , I will just keep my distance from open world stuff.
Defend it as much as you want, arenanet dont want people to stay at the same place . Nerf incoming, get ready for it.
So .. why don’t you clear Balthasar Temple then each day ? Its not that there is only FG and Queensdale in the game. There are also Champs everwhere in the world that you can do with your friends if you want.
So, what is the reason you want to nerf the everything in the game just because people do something in 2 specific zones you dislike ?
Come .. make Balthasar … show everything what a great player you are, and then open it on 2 more servers, and then people will even thank you for that.
