I really wonder if you do the same for example with computer hardware ? You just bought a new video card from ATI or NVidia, and 3 months later the bring out a new better modell. Do you run to your computer dealer and expect he exchanges your old against a new ?
Have to try that out with my old HD 6870 i think

Take your lvl 80 to any of the zones up to lvl 40-50; run up to a probe and get the cores. If it’s guarded, kill the mobs first. An 80 shouldn’t have problems with the defenders when down-scaled.
Haha .. i even died once on my 80 warrior in a 15-25 zone, and had to play a lot hit and run even in that low level zones.
So my tip : use the lowest possible zones, and you can also use guesting to check the same spot on 3 servers to minimize porting costs.

Next they will release another Teq/Wurm like Boss on a WvW-Map .. they really are THAT crazy i believe meanwhile
But i have no doubt that TTS would be rocking WvW also ^^
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
So .. if they sell you something like the following :
Yo pay 80 gold, and if you play at least 1000 hours for the next year then you
will get 81 gold, would you call that P2W ?
Because that is more or less what you have if you buy such a pick just for “winning”.
Or you can pay 10 bucks and buy 80 gold for the gems, or you can buy a pick, work 1000 hours with that pick just to have maybe made 81 gold after all that time.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Real problem is that it is “unfair” for people having bought previous items at the same price, not knowing a better version would be available weeks later.
That the same as to say its unfair to pay for a skin and 6 months later there is a new skin that looks better.
And also .. the tools already were upped in price from 800 to 1000, and since i have 20 tools for 8 characters till now i really don’t care much if they are accountbound or soulbound.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I think they should add a 20% chance for something on all the other unlimited tools too! then I’d be happy, I bought 9 over 3 characters and I feel cheated now!
I bought 20 tools for 8 chats till now, and i have no problem with it. Had a much bigger problem when they upped the price from 800 to 1000. If i buy one of those now, maybe after a year it would be at least as if had costed also only 800 because of the sprockets.
I see already i can buy 100s of precursors then
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I remember that when you payed around 25 Gold for the first picks people did the math and said that you have to harvest maybe 65.000 time so that you have started to save money against buying orichalcum picks.
Now .. if you have harvest over 65.000 that item will suddenly also be pay to win since every 100 picks you save the money you would else have to pay for a new pick.
Now however a new pick costs what ? 80 Gold maybe ? So you have to pick maybe 180.000 times to get back the money. If you save 6,7 copper per pick now because of the sprockets you will maybe still have to pick over 100.000 times that the investment pays of.
And because this is highly unrealistic, and demands a really heavy time investment and devout dedication, there is nothing remotely close to P2W behind this mining pick.
Even in the day where players will finally save money out of this, they will do so not because they “bought to win”, but because of their crazy dedication.
Yepp .. its in the end not more P2W as if they say we sell it for 900 instead 1000 this time. It just makes the thing payoff a little earlier .. still its a loooong run to get the payoff.

We have at least German, French, Spanish and UK Servers and some multi lingual.

And again just another patch that fits only one specific playstyle. I really wish they would return to give us more mixed content for all playstyles like Queens Jubilee and Bazaar.
What did those patches offer for wvw?
I don’t know since i don’t really care about it. What i mean is not related to WvW but the direction that all the updates in the last half year always only had one focus instead of different content.
So instead of just a Raid-Boss or just a new Dungeon Path i would rather see that and also something to do in the Openworld .. and also something in WvW .. and maybe a new Minigame .. and Jumping Puzzle .. and whatever.

Well, no underflow as described. You could still get rid of dedicated servers in PvE and just use a smart district system that would assign each district of a map a rating based on how many people from your server, guild, or friends list are present, as well as the need to balance population. If you don’t select a specific district, it uses that rating to pick one for you.
Don’t forget the language problem in Europe. We have English, German, French, Spain, Polish, Russian and even more languages here and most people prefer using their native language in the chat instead of speaking english all the time.

Well i want to go on deso…. i am directly in overflow because itvs already full….. i wait …. i have a box who says do you want to go on the choosen sever… i click …. and an error happens i can t leave the overflow..
So…. how can i go on deso ?
This happens especially on weekends and when you try to do Jormags Claw or Behemoth, since in those zones there is always a champ train and when the event is up the zone is often full.
The error is just that there was a spot free when the question came, but the spot was already taken by someone else when you clicked on it.

but the fact that there is a game in beta wich is already more “improved” than 1.5 years old GW2.
Who cares ? 1-2 month after release that game is the worst game with no endgame and worst suport that has ever been released .. like every other MMO that was always sooo much better before release.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
The term is meaningless for an MMO. The game itself is never “finished.”
That’s the correct answer.
What are you guys comparing GW2 with? The 7-year old WoW? The 6(?)-ish-year-old Lineage II? GW2 is improving. It just takes time.
I’m testing an MMO in beta wich is way more bugless and smooth than 1 year and a half old GW2… So i wouldn’t say that the term is “meaningless”
It can’t be ESO at least, since i have heared only bad things from people who played the beta. Maybe 1 of 30 said that he will play it nonetheless.
And Wildstar .. who needs WoW in Space ? And also it wouldn’t really make me sad if all the folks that want so much their hardcore raids better go there thand constantly trying GW2 to be more like WoW.

As I said up front, it was just an idea I’d come up with. Feel free to tear it apart. Hehe
Personally i have no problems with things like that, however i can already hear all those people crying : now we MUST GRIND even more for all those factions

Google is an amazing invention.
It’s not very difficult to check my above statement for truth.
Anyone can look up Ncsofts financial records for q3.
I suggest before posting again you do just that.
Only that that says nothing about population at all. Its normal that sell of boxes go down after release, since we don’t have to rebuy the game every month, and of course the number of newcomers will also go down when the game gets older.
What i can say however is that my server went from medium to high in December.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
You can make the traditional Endgame very easy yourself. Just farm Items and destroy them .. since that is what gear progression in other games more or less does. You farm items, then go next dungeon / raid to get better stuff, so you can delete your old stuff. And at some point when you have the best there comes a higher level cap and suddenly level 81 green armor is better than your level T20 80 raid armor for that you farmed so long and that you can destroy now.

I thought they should have already learned that after all the complaints about Tequatl.
At least they haven’t started to change the other worldbosses in that form till now, since if they do that i really start to look out for another game
There might have been a bit of complaints about Tequatl, but it is still getting killing several times per day on different servers, so clearly people do like it.
Oh yeah .. on Desolation .. and other players from Desolation start already to complain that ANet should do something about guesting there.
These events are NOT fine if 80% or more of the servers can’t do them on there own and are forced to guest on other servers.
A lot of the advertising for GW2 just said something like : You run through the world, see an event and just jump in and help. It was not : you know an event starts in 2 hours so you go there, after you joined a certain guild and went to there TS3 Server, and then you wait until they shuttle you in an overflow where you have to wait another hour till the event starts.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Overflow is not a problem. If there are enough people in the overflow, then any event performed just as well as on the main map.
But you just want to get to the main main main main map
For “normal” Worldevents like Claw or Behemoth it is a problem, since they are not on the same timer on overflows.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I do hope they figure out that you need instanced boss fights for challenging content and leave the open world bosses alone for pugs.
I thought they should have already learned that after all the complaints about Tequatl.

Overflows happen especially on weekends at Jormag Claw and Shadow Behemoth also on other Servers where a champ train is running.
Else for things like Tequatl, its maybe also the fault of players from Desolation that constantly brag that these encounters are totally fine and Desolation does them all the time, and players from lower pop servers just should go to higher pop servers.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Agreed .. since i nearly never play dungeons i will also never complete it and on every new alt has done less of the story.

There’s so many games out there, ages older than GW2 that at least have some people in the starter zones (after the first boss thingy).
I was by myself completely and was surprised based on experiences from other, older games.
These games have maybe also only 1 or 2 starter zones. GW2 has 5 and at least in Queensdale and Wayfarer Foothills i normally always see some people.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Okay you don’t like it, what do you want though? What WOULD be good? And people’s ‘solutions’ to what they think is the problem usually isn’t viable, like making an instance for 50 people for a boss or whatever. How would you do an open world boss to make it good? How would you tell the story better to make it feel epic?
Different things to do for different playstyles .. some solo stuff .. some zerg/grind stuff .. something to explore .. and also maybe a boss.
Something more like Zephyr Sanctum or Queens Jubilee .. and not all the last updates where we just had one thing to do and if you don’t like it .. then there was nothing else to do for you.
And of course no Pseudo-Raids that can’t be done with random people and that don’t scale in the open world.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
This is really the most idiotic type of game design i have ever seen.
Why do game designers not learn that random one-hit kills are NOT FUN and also not challenging or whatever .. they are just plain stupid and frustrating because a random death is no challenge when you have no chance to do anything against it.
That death isn’t supposed to be the challenge… the challenge is to prevent it by succeeding in the event. Personally I like it that failing it actually has a big consequence for everyone, and I kinda expected Tequatl to do that (kill everyone) if you failed to defeat it instead of just flying away.
Yeah .. to make the whole zone even more of a desert since nobody would even explore it anymore. Why not kill also everyone in the whole world ? How could people just stay around in LA when elswhere in the world a bossfight fails ?
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Already did that with Teq2.0.
They made the Wurm. So that approach clearly does not work. What would probably work is a nice, scathing review on an MMO website or a magazine.
It would maybe work if all the players who already hated Teq and still run to the new events because of maybe some more stupid achievement points, even if they know that they will be just frustrated, simply would directly ignore it.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Or an over-compassing one. WBD – World Boss Destroyers
Hey .. don’t take the fun out of that. The fun will just really start when we need 5+ different of these type of guilds

Could you cite the metrics on this observation please?
Just take a look how many Server do Teq on their regular Server and not shuttled to some Overflow .. that should normally be enough.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Really .. if you hate waiting 2 hours for pseudo-raids in an open world for the hardcore raider crowd .. just ignore it .. don’t even try it, else ANet again thinks its a “big successs” and weget even more of that stuff.
If you don’t like that stuff all we can do is to show them the numbers that only a minority of players enjoy that kind of stuff, and the only way to do that is to totally ignore that stuff.

Have you ever played a game with a raid system?
If you do end up uninstalling, don’t go to games where raids are end game content.
Thats why i started GW2 .. because i hate raids and GW2 had no raids.
The other reason was that GW2 had no gear progression ..
so now i wait for the next tier of items that is only available through raids.

Just another update i will totally ignore i think
But i have good ideas for the next updates :
- instant death on login
- instant death after zoning
- instant death whenever you are near the next vista
- instant death every 5 minutes when doing random stuff
And of course
- instant death for the whole server when any event fails.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Wow .. so they really will do the same nonsense again and clear Bloodtide Coast from players the same way they did with Sparkfly Fens ?
Do they just ignore everything thats written here on the forums or simply don’t care to turn maps to ghost towns on most servers ?
Players who have been unsuccessful in defeating Tequatl will know the dangers that defeat brings to the area. We asked if these new bosses would also cause the environment to be more dangerous after a defeat. The answer was yes. The Marionette’s is more immediate, with everyone in Lornar’s Pass being instantly killed by the boss’s Aether-cannons. On the other hand, the Wurm has a lasting effect much like Tequatl’s. Instead of exploding fish heads however, one of the three Wurms will randomly pop-up and use their signature move on players traveling across the map.

Weapons are worth it….I personally don’t feel that a 4.8-5.2% boost for the cost is worth it for armor. Weapons gave 10% so that was a big enough bump to justify the cost.
Thats also just the difference compared with exotics. If you compare the difference on to your total stats it just around 1% that a full set of armor gives.

What is so challenging with trinity if your not the tank or healer ? DPS there was always the easiest, just sit behind the mob to avoid cone AoEs and go through your rotation and hope that tank doesn’t loose aggro or die because then you could also better shoot yourself a bullet into the head.
Tanking was always a question of how good your taunts and damage was in the current expansion .. Shadowknights in Rise of Kunark were shafted hard in that role since they were always more AoE-tanks and there we had not much AoE encounters.
Healing .. yeah staring on bars all the time and spam heals and cures .. stressfull but boring at the same time.
