Not true. You can get up to 6 ores with 3 pick attempts. The likelihood of that happening appears to be statistically impossible, but getting 4 ores with 3 pick attempts is relatively common.
Never saw that beside rich iron nodes and maybe some other rich nodes. Even rich gold never gives more than 1 per pick.

I like the Arctodus farm in Frostgorge. They give bloods, claws, fangs, and hides. I used to do it for about an hour at a time and I would get like 10-20 of the tier 5 and a handful of the tier 6 mats I listed.
Yepp .. thats what i also mostly do.
I think the Icebrood droprates were nerfed maybe a year ago when the corupted Lodestones were still selling for 1g70s or whatever. Since the prices of the Lodestones are so low now, and prices of fangs and claws are nearly like blood at the moment, Arctodus farm is much better.
Also you can maybe kill the troll from time to time whenever the champ-train is there

Hmm, I’ll have to pay more attention when I’m mining ore then, but I’m still quite certain I haven’t gotten bonus ore like that before. I harvest EVERYTHING I come across, and while I do notice the bonus wood, I haven’t ever noticed the bonus ore (this is all with the Molten pick), which strikes me as odd.
You don’t ever get more than 3 ores out of 3 picks, however sometimes you can pick 4-6 times. Wood can also sometimes be harvested for max 6 times and herbs up to 4 times.
However that also can only happen on your home server and not on guest servers.
Wood and herbs can also give sometimes 2 items per try on all servers, normal ore nodes not.

You need however the expensive Transmutation Crystals for the first transmutation when using T3 Armor since that one is lvl 80. After that you can use just the cheap stones until you need crystals again to put it on lvl 80 armor.

I think the shoulders are the issue. Yours are hidden, though.
But I’m not sure entirely.

Only if I get Norn tier 3 heavy on my human male! No deal otherwise!
I would be fine if they make the cultural armors available for all races. I also don’t see a problem since we can use cultural weapons from other races. So i think one of the main reasons was maybe only that they don’t wanted to create all those Skins for Chars ..
There is also no real reason why armorsmiths from other races are unable to copy the design of armors from other races. Even not if you say its fantasy and not real live. Its just a piece of cloth, leather or metal.
On the other hand .. it also makes of course no sense that warriors can’t wear leather or whatever ..

People just have to go away from the opinion that they MUST have a legendary.
I have 11 80s and all are full exotic, 10 of them have at least 1 ascended weapon, and most have quite some nice skins.
So since it was said that shorter grinds feel more rewarding, maybe do what i do .. instead of grinding forever for one stupid legendary, buy something nice for all your toons more often … this for me feels very rewarding

PvP isn’t winning for everyone. A lot of people don’t even play it. Winning in this game can be gold, skins, PvP, achievements, all kinds of stuff, and it varies player to player.
No. Absolutely incorrect.
You cannot win at playing dress up. You can only win where objective criteria are present for determining who has won and who has lost.
This is your opinion, and I respect that even if I disagree. To have unique skins for some people is winning in a game, whether you recognize it or not, in their mind it’s winning. Open your mind, think outside the box that developers have created for you to play in.
Then the game is already P2W just because you had to pay for the box, else you were never able to dress your toons. So the shop is still irrelevant.
Also all the discussions about picks are irrelevant since there have always been dresses in the shop, so that already let you win. And don’t forget exchanging gems directly to gold gives you much faster the gold you need as first buying a pick, then harvest 160.000 times until you have made some profit.

Time gated crafting items can be purchased for cash/gem/gold as can legendary weapons, nice gem shop armor skins and unlimited use picks/salvage machine to just about everything else, saving you time and in game gold, i don’t see how gw2 isn’t p2w.
So .. how many players have you killed in PvP that you wouldnt have killed with your unlimited pick ?
Exactly .. zero .. nada.

I am aware some mobs are tied to certain locations and will reset if kited out of them. I’m not even talking about that (although that is stupid as well.)
Its not stupid, since else you could never avoid fights with running away if mobs will chase you forever.
Else, i know that was a big problem with underwater fights after release, but haven’t had any problems with that since a long time.

Corpus Christi they already said there will be short break after end of LS, but because they did not announced length of that short break, many people thinks that Feature patch will be in summer.
ESO launches in early April, the most logical time for GW2 to have a major update is within a few weeks of April 1, either to draw attention away from the release (mid-late March) or to recapture the interest of those who play the free month of ESO that comes with the purchase of the game but don’t continue paying to subscribe to the game (late April-early May). So far it seems this will coincide with the LS finale and the features update with a few weeks between to account for a temporary drop in logins from the new shiny.
I don’t think so. I think they’l wait until the shine wears off a bit and THEN launch.
The shine of ESO has already worn of after the beta event in january, after all i have read so far.
The PROs for ESO were often just something like that you can at least create Elves that don’t look absolute horrible

My issue with taunt is that it kills any illusion the enemy is intelligent at all.
I’ll keep banging way on this guy, even though he’s not taking damage, and even though I’m a super intelligent demon from the abyss, I have no idea healers exist or someone is keeping him alive.
It’s just too contrived for my taste.
I always have to laugh when people in a trinity game say they want a better Monster AI since i know that they don’t really want that because any AI would kill the trinity.
If a monster is intelligent it would ignore the low damage tank, and first kill maybe the healer or the squishy DDs.I’d very much disagree. Taunting works on human players all of the time. I played WoW for years and in every single BG I played I’d often simply /laugh at someone (usually rogues) when my ret pally was OP’d and smashing anything that moved. 9 times out 10 that player made a bee line for me every single time in sheer frustration and annoyance over a simple emote. Out healers loved it. The other 10% didn’t fall for it but boy does emote tanking work. Its a taunt. It works on human players a lot. I’ve had players log out, log into my realm a some level 1 character and abuse me in typical WoW fashion. “F%$$%#g scrub, blah, blah, blah, rage, rage” all over a /laugh or a /mock. Music to my ears!
Im not really surprised that most WoW players also are in need of a better AI

That would probably also include less time gating, maybe a bit higher drop rates… You name it!
I expect even more time gating, like you can do dungeons only once a day, and also that maybe a lot of items (better items, more item progression) get bind on pickup, and that is the last thing i want.

Don’t worry, WildStar is actually just as awful as GW2. The difference being it has less content, wants 15 bucks a month and has a trinity, if you’re into that kind of kinky thing.

Most of all the advertising of GW2 before release was about the open world and events. They never said much about that it would be another dungeon grinder where you have to be in brown holes under the earth for 99% of the time.
They should have called it something other than Guild Wars, honestly.
The only real resemblance it has to it’s predecessor is reusing names and brand awareness.
Don’t really care about that. However i wouldn’t have played it at all if it would have been like GW1, and i needed to convince a lot of friends that it is different because a lot of people simply didn’t liked Gw1 at all.
That’s so cool.
And all of those kind of people will be gone as soon as the next big MMO comes out, and actual fans of the IP will be left with this husk of a game.
Not really .. a lot of people started GW2 because they disliked raiding and item spirals and play GW2 because it was different in that way.
The people that leave are maybe more of those old hardcore GW1 players that simply hate everything of GW2 because it is not like GW1.

They whine because if you’re just trying to PvE and if you’re forced into an open-world PvP zone, and you’re being killed over and over, it’s not fun. I know this from experience trying to level for the first time in Aion.
Haha yes, been there, done that. I stopped playing Aion because of the forced PvP. I do not mean forced PvP as in “there is no PvP off switch”, but as in “areas which hold important PvE content are also PvP zones”. I have no problem with dedicated PvP zones you can go to when you fancy some trashtalk fun, but having to put up with players who are only there to grief others when all you want to do is complete your quest log is extremely annoying. Aion is a fun PvE game as long as you are in the lower level zones, because the other faction cannot enter. But later on, the other faction can sometimes enter the lvling zones with higher level players and farm newbies, and one area is even completely shared by both factions so that you are guaranteed to have PvP whenever you go there. So if you want to go to some quest spot to do your PvE stuff, you can be sure that some high lvl ganker is just waiting there to “lolnoob” you. Of course you could always bring a full party of friends, but sometimes you just want to log on and solo for half an hour, or maybe your friends are simply not online.
Yeah .. i quitted Aion when i wanted to bring my second character to 43-44 so that i could level the rest in Theobomus, even if there were just quests starting at 45, but i rather wanted to grind those levels like i did on my first character.
However then i was killed by a group of lvl 50 characters 3-4 time in 30 minutes, and i just quitted and never logged in again.
In the 20-35 zones at least when i was jumped from other there was mostly a chance to fight back and even win now and then, however in Heiron after the game was out for over 6 months, there were more players of the other faction than of your own it seemed, and of course all full geared lvl 50s, while it was a leveling area for 35-45 .. it was just plain horrible.

Personally, I still like luck-based drop more than any tedious and boring chore (be it crafting or quests).
Depends on how rare those drops are. In my first 2000 hours of gameplay i found 2 exotics in total, and they both were not even worth 1 gold. So at that point i don’t really like luck-based drops really and i’d rather collect my crafting mats piece by piece and know that after x hours of gameplay i have what i want.
That probably has something to do with the drops in this game are beyond terrible. It’s always very suspicious when a game has a real money shop, but when the drops are as bad as they are in this game it’s more than just a bit suspicious I feel.
I still could buy everything i wanted in GW2 without ever have to pay real money, while in all subscription based games i seldom got the luck drops i wanted and also couldn’t get most of the stuff at all because i dislike raiding and everything better in all that games i bind on pickup these days.

There is not even a good logic to craft a Precursor… To fit logic let people be able to craft precursor replicas (Only cosmetic) and as OP says make a great story of it so there is something to work for rather than craft for. Crafting is not fun and I want fun.
Great post OP.
The logic is, that weapons normally don’t drop out of thin air and that a blacksmith has to create them first so that maybe somebody buys it from that blacksmith, then dies deep in a dungeon and there it lies until another adventurer finds it there

I’m pretty sure the only ones that are against having both options are the people on the open world side because they’re afraid they won’t be able to find a big enough zerg to spam 1 with.
If you spam 1 constantly you should know that you can activate auto-attack with ctrl-leftclick.
Don’t know how I missed this comment.
No Jim, that’s not true. I can beat instances, and I can raid. I do just fine in dungeons and fractals.
But I didn’t buy this game to play instances. I’ve always wanted an MMO that was more about the open world.
And if you think you can just spam 1 in open world fights and win, I invite you to try the new jungle wurm encounter.
Yes there is plenty of content where spamming 1 does work. There’s also some content where it doesn’t.
I think you didn’t got the hidden message in what i said.

But this is a step (even if really small tiny step) in the dangerous direction.
The step in that direction was already made when they decided that we could buy Gold for Gems.
And i’m quite shure that ANet has no interest in creating items that give you soooo much more gold that people never again feel like they should change gems for gold.
And that in my opinion makes the whole P2W discussion irrelevant.
Also .. i would gladly buy the same pick without sprockets .. for 800 instead 1000 gems.

Guardians everywhere, since they can more or less do the 3 roles
Having Trinity officially in the game would force a total revamp of the entire system, so Guardian as we know it today would be different.
I think having “no trinity” is the stupidest design choice Anet made among many bad choices, but that’s just me.
And your opinion is just that – an opinion.
Why would they make their game exactly like all the trinity games out there?!Because well, one famous trinity-based game has been around for like 10 years – with more players SUBSCRIBED then have only PURCHASED GW2. It’s a model that works in the long run.
GW2 was great. But now that we’re in the aging process of the game, the system in place just isn’t cutting it. I’m bored..
WoW at the age GW2 is currently at was a complete wreck of a game too. Botters, hackers, private servers, scammers, account selling, bugs, glitches, poor raid systems, poor pvp, limited pve etc etc. Put some perspective on it.
Yes but that was 2004 when players didn’t know what graphics card their computer had inside of it. It was a complete revolution when it came to opening up the game genre to the masses.
And just as an FYI: MC and Onyxia’s lair were open and available upon the game’s release in 2004, even being present in the game’s beta-testing stage.
The world’s first completion of MC was done at the very end of 2006 – more than two years after the release of the game. That’s called being prepared with something to challenge players with and keep them interested. The only thing we currently have in place in GW2 is the “open world” zerg system (trash). And I guarantee even the new Wurm won’t take more than 2-3 weeks to be downed. Even upon fractured re-release some guys hit 50 within like a week.
That just shows how lazy Blizzard is. For me that sounds like 2 year of no new content, while in Everquest 2 we already had gotten 2 expansions after 1,5 years.

Mob mentality.
Also, what if a group of..“Ebil Marketeers” were looking into the far future with plans of capturing the sprocket market when the Trading Post supply of sprockets dry up and the new players don’t have sprocket mining in their home instances.
These new players will be forced to the Trading Post where the Ebil Marketeers will profit, profit, profit!!!!!! Heck no, they don’t want Joe on the street to be able to mine sprockets as that will cut into their sprocket profit. These players are using mob mentality to protect their future markets.
I am a proud owner of this sprocket generating pick. I love the colors.
I have a set of each of the previous mining sets spread out on all my alts, and I don’t feel cheated at all. I bought them so I don’t have to carry a metric ton of gathering tools with me. I even bought extra so a few of my alts who are in a cave mining steel don’t have to leave to buy new picks as often.
Hmm…After reading this thread, I would encourage you all to buy this pick and flood the market with sprockets to enrage those who are dreaming of becoming sprocket trillionaires
