There was no reaction on how much the difficulty of the early content was tweaked. Mostly talking about Personal Story here, because the open world 1-30 zones are very easy anyway even for lower levels.
Tell that my level 23 thief that was dead in 2 seconds when 2 or 3 Icebrood Wolves in Snowden Drifts jumped at her.
I don’t know why many people always say that it all is sooo easy, when infact i don’t know any other MMO where i died more often than in GW2 while leveling because of the bugged respawn rate, where mobs instan respawn that you just killed and how mobs often spawn out of nothing in events and whatever.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
The question is, what exactly you have to do for that .. fine if it is all soloable, but would be bad if in the end you have to “buy” these skills maybe later from other players because you need to kill champs or do things in Dungeons that nobody else does anymore.
One of the screenshots in the announcement/article shows a trait that is unlocked by defeating the High Wizard guarding the entrance to Arah. I’m sure there will be a surge of players doing all these events for unlocks shortly after the update hits. But good luck getting that later on.
The only time many events like that are done on my server is with the post-reset world boss train. Which is nothing but a mess of lag and overflows that I have no desire to participate in.
The ‘option’ to buy the unlocks from an NPC will likely end up being the only option for many of us to get some of the new traits.
Yeah .. with all my later alts i haven’t even been to Orr at all, since i don’t really like Orr that much. So that would mean first i have find and fight the whole tedious way through Straits and Malchors Leap with that “funny” Event before the bridge when you are alone there, and then maybe guest to another server to find people that maybe make this event.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Tbh I am wondering if this is all in aid of a possible incoming increase to lvl cap, that would certainly explain some of this..
With those changes in my opinion they can better decrease the max level to 20, so that we get starting from level 6, at least 1 skillpoint every level.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Two things to think about:
- Will they tweak the areas, given how there’ll less stats available?
- Will they be implementing China’s 1 – 30 experience (the only logical explanation for moving traits up to 30)?
The question is, what exactly you have to do for that .. fine if it is all soloable, but would be bad if in the end you have to “buy” these skills maybe later from other players because you need to kill champs or do things in Dungeons that nobody else does anymore.
You can buy traits from a vendor, so if there’s a specific trait you want, but you don’t want to do that bit of content, you can still get it.
Of course we don’t now the prices till now. And if they want to “force” us to “enjoy” content we maybe don’t want to play, i believe these price could be quite high and its maybe less expensive to buy a dungeon path from other players or whatever.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I, personally, also dislike the idea of having to do specific things to unlock traits. I can see why this change is happening, but I don’t like it and would prefer the unlocking system to remain more similar to how the current system is.
It makes exploration more rewarding and exciting, and creates new opportunities for Anet to add new permanent content in the open world too.
What feels better for you, to get a new sword trait after fighting a swordsman in an epic fight, or to simply “unlock” it via a menu and then “explore” the world for more generic gold/ karma?
This new hunting system greatly enhances the value of exploration and world immersion, something that was lacking in this game.
The question is, what exactly you have to do for that .. fine if it is all soloable, but would be bad if in the end you have to “buy” these skills maybe later from other players because you need to kill champs or do things in Dungeons that nobody else does anymore.

And when you talk about getting bored, you have to remember your first days in gw2. Getting to level 30 isn’t about trait points. It’s about learning your weapons, unlocking all of the new skills, and deciding how you play the game. There is a lot that new players have to learn, which is why it will be much easier on them in the long run.
I have leveled multiple level 80s and trust me it is very much about traits. For one thing without them early on you’re severely kitten. Which really slows the leveling down.
Yeah .. even on a Warrior it was great when at 20 you could boost your crit with Deep Strike finally at lvl 20.
And for classes like Mesmer, Ele and Engi .. i would maybe have given up if i couldn’t have leveled them in 3-4 different starting areas to maybe 20-30 and then craft 30 levels, so that i could finally make a decent build with enought traitpoints.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
As for older players with alts… Well, leveling is boring anyway, but knowing game mechanics will probably compensate the amount of time added by traitless levels.
And thats why leveling should be made even more boring ?
I just wonder if that will also have impact on mobs. Do they have also traits ? I just always had the feeling that somewhere around lvl 12-15 the mobs started to get much harder than the lower mobs. Now if players get even weaker will those mobs also get weaker because of missing skills / traits or proportionally harder ?
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Btw.: Does anyone else has the feeling we get the China-System here ?
So next news is, that weapon Skill unlocks are level-bound, and we have to autoattack just through the first levels maybe, and we get our elite-skills at what was it .. 50 ?
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Now with their new talent tree, you gain like, 1 point every 15 level for 1 new ability or passive, and it’s boring as hell.
Maybe they should then also just reduce max level from 80 to 20 .. so starting with 6 we get at least 1 point every level.
And yes, i also like to see at least a little progress with a level up .. thats normally the reason for levelling.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
/agree
I’m really happy that i don’t plan to level any new character at the moment, since that all doesn’t really sounds funny but more like boredom.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Speaking of new players… no traits at all until level 30? Sounds like early levelling just got worse.
Yeah .. i’m happy about the free trait reset that we get, but i’m happy that i don’t want to level new characters in the next future.

Ascended armor will only become cheaper when there is less LS (wow, like right now) and people get back to farming mats (should start happening) and the prices of the pre-requisite mats drop as a result.
Since the main problem are Silk and Linnen, that are not really farmable, it doesn’t really matter if people play LS or farm something else.
So they need to down the number of linnen that is needed for a Bolt of Damask, or let us harvest this stuff from some plants or whatever.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Ok .. let all normal mobs drop Dragonite .. then for gods sake they can screw all bosses like ever they want.
As long as i need to do Jormag and Shatterer for Dragonite … leave them alone. Or make that you need all Orr Temples at the same time in 5 Minutes and Bosses have Mega-AoEs that wipe the whole zone or whatever -sigh-
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Also the supply will go down if dyes only can be crafted or opened via gemstore stuff, so in the end the prices may be even higher.

The preview removes your helm so I didn’t realize I’d have this issue with Magnus’ eyepatch and I was kind of disappointed with the change. I still really like the hair but I’d also like the option to leave my helm on in preview so I can see a problem coming. I filed a bug report in game about the clipping, anyway.
The preview never removed my helm or shoulders, even since i normally don’t show them i always had to manually remove them from my character.
Or does it happen as soon as you start to change your face ? Have never tested that i think and always first canceled and removed my helm.

Since yesterdays patch it seems to work again, now even when guesting on other servers.
Wonder if that is a “feature” now, and if not they could however take as much time to fix that like it took to give us back the bonusIt is indeed a feature. That was actually mentioned in the patch notes and quoted above by oliverstoned.
Ahh .. thats nice. Since i don’t play WvW i mostly don’t read those Patchnotes
World bonuses obtained in WvW will once again apply in PvE. Additionally, they will now apply in overflows and while guesting (based on the player’s world).

Crafted dyes – let’s imagine those would not need an identifier to open … could balance things out a little?
“Dye unlocks now come only from crafting and from the gem store "
I think that is totally clear that the crafted dyes don’t need an identifier since he said UNLOCKS come from crafting.

So, all you watchwork defenders who pointed out that the pick isn’t OP because of the ‘cheap’ sprockets..
Price of sprockets has jumped 100% overnight.
I guess it’s not OP now to have sprockets sell at +1.2s now?
I bought 3 of them .. i already made maybe 30 Gold since than with sprocktes … tomorrow i will rule the word.
Ohh .. i forgot to mention that i still have to make another 210 gold first, and that in the last 4 weeks i was doing nearly nothing else than harvesting Iron Ore, and i made maybe 1000 Golds with selling steel ingots.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
The question is, would you accept paying gems for it, like in China.
You can still CRAFT dyes according to Mark O’Brian. The question is of course still what impact that would have on the prices of dyes.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I disagree, all the level 15 starting bosses should be easier introductory bosses. If anything, I’d like the other 2 dragon champions (claw of jormag and the shatterer) become tequatl style bosses, but with much improved rewards (also heavily improve Tequatl’s) so there’s a bigger incentive to make it.
Nope .. leave Claw alone .. he is fine and done regular on most servers, and i would hate to go to Orr for Dragonite.
Shatterer could maybe use a little tuning, on the other hand, since that area is very dark, i however also don’t really want him to be too compicated.

Restating how there would never be pay to win stuff in the gem shop, only vanity and utility items reminded me why I like Anet so much…
Of course there will still be those that call these “time-saving conveniences” P2W
Mike O’Brien:We think it’s right that players can spend money on items to provide visual distinction or customization, and can spend money on account services and time-saving conveniences. We think it’s right that players can trade gems for gold and vice-versa, such that players can keep up with other players and be on a level playing field, whether they use their time or money to do so. But we think it’s never ok for players to buy a game and not be able to enjoy what they paid for without additional purchases. And we think it’s never ok for players who spend money to have an unfair advantage over players who spend time.

-If these changes revamp the dye system and replace it with these account bound, gem store dyes, then I’m afraid this would be extremely controversial and disastrous for some.
What people always overlook seems to be that it was mentioned that there are still CRAFTED Dyes.
Dye unlocks now come only from crafting and from the gem store.

Well it’s not like hair in reality is a chunk of solid wall. Could just pretend it’s flowing around it.
Yeah .. i also had that thought when i previewed it
And also .. i would never ever rant about clipping if they just give us THAT hairstyle, that is apparently not in the game because of clipping problem
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Not that you can already see that in the Preview. I very well saw the clipping on my Female Ranger with Kasmeers Hair on my Kryta Chest, and nonetheless decided to use it, so i can bug it maybe, but no reason to rant about it.

Upgrade to 64-Bit Windows .. thats the only “real” solution.
Instead of roaming the forums telling people to upgrade to 64-Bit Windows in every thread, why don’t you try to help them instead? I run XP, it works fine. On my 64-bit Mac on the other hand, I have crashes every 10 minutes after today’s patch.
OOM means Out Of Memory
You are NOT the OP, so whats your problem ? Also XP need less memory than Vista or Win7, so yes the Client take longer to reach the critical 2 GB mark under XP, howver i will not tell people that the solution is to downgrade on XP.
And btw. for me upgrading to 64-Bit Vista was already the solution some year agao when i played Age of Conan, that also crashed every now and then because of the 2 GB Limit of 32-Bit Windows. And at that time i still had XP.

However I do feel that it would be worthwhile to put something in, say Kessex Hills, that requires a bit more co-ordination to prepare people for later bosses like Teq or the Wurm.
First they must create a tutorial about Guesting, then they must say that only Desolation is the correct server for guesting in EU, and that you must join TTS in US .. and then they can start with a new boss.
Oh .. and my idea for new bosses is that they have now to be killed in 3 different Overflows at the same time .. and after that the next one has to be killed on ALL Server at the next time.

If you don’t use the word “kitten” that much you could write a support ticket and they will change your duplicate item against another

My concern with this quote is that it seems to be saying that, once implemented in NA/EU, all future dye purchases will be packs that contain random dyes from the gem store. I’m fine with this change and actually welcome it for the most part. However, I do have some more concerns on how it will be implemented:
More important for me is this :
Dye unlocks now come only from crafting and from the gem store.
I would hate if the Gemstore would be the only way to get dyes.

No thanks .. please leave all the old World Bosses alone, we don’t need more events that could only be done with guesting on Desolation and bring the Desolation Players to cry because they can’t do these events because they always end in Overflows.

I don’t think they should be doing in world housing and selling plots of land. In my opinion, the right way to do it would be instanced housing/guild halls like EQ2 had. It’s easiest from a development/support perspective and you don’t end up with abandoned buildings all over the world. Most knick-knacks could be crafted or come from quest rewards but if they had some that were only available on the gem store, people would buy them. Much like people buy weapon and armor skins from the gem store now.
Also, if you want your wives/girlfriends to play the game with you, housing and guild halls that they can decorate is something that they will really get into. Mine does. That’s most of the reason that she played EQ2.
Said it already 10 times in other threads, but again : i was a big fan of the housing in EQ2, and i really hope if we ever get housing here, they do something like that
LotRO housing for example was totally boring in comparsion.

@ OP. There is nothing wrong about the fingts (I do agree there could be less Zergfests though), but there is something REALLY wrong with the guesting system IMO. I can hardly (4 times despite playing a lot) get to my own server (Desolation) during tese events. I feel I’m getting forced to make room for all the guesters.
Its like being forced out of u’r home by foreigners so that they can take turns to live there – leaving u out!
Is it guesting or the missing scaling of these event ? Whenever people complained about these events that they can’t do them on there Servers there mostly came some people from TTS or also from Desolation and tell them how great and easy that all is because they do it on Desolation all day long.
So, who wonders if all come to Deso now when they always read that that seems to be the only place where they can do these events ?

This is likely not a bug, a lot of people have been going to DR to hang out at and use the TP and craft ever since LA went kaboom, so it’s not that surprising there’s overflows.
Thats what i also thought. Since there are no crafting stations in Vigil Keep, people must now use again the starter cities

This is true for the last few big LW updates, even more true for Tequatl and Jungle Wurms. Despite all possible efforts I could not get certain LW achievements in the end.
Thats simply a problem of how these specific events are designed. I simply ignore them and hope they never really do the same to Jormag and Shatterer than what they did with Tequatl.

For events you normally also have to fight mobs. So the best is fighting mobs to finish events, since that will give you exp for the kills, and of course exp for finishing the event

Should work the same way than transferring a legendary. First transmute the Greatsword onto a white Greatsword, that should make it account-bound. After that transfer it via your bank to your other character. Now use a transmutation Splitter on the sword to get back the ascended sword.
Infusions will however get lost.

Wildstar is a WoW 2.0…
This is a statement made in ignorance. It’s as if you don’t know anything at all about the game.
It looks a lot like WoW, the so called endgame will be heavy raiding, and it even was made by developers that made WoW. So for me that sounds very much like WoW 2.00.
Also it simply caters to other gamers than GW2 .. all these players that thing raiding is the best since invention of the wheel, and if it pulls players from GW2 that are mostly the elitist players that never where in the right here from the start, and only gave us such great things like ascended gear and Tequatl 2.00.
