No you won’t need manuals, characters that are created before the patch will have all major traits unlocked.
As for the trait points, you are confused,* pre-level 30 characters* won’t have any trait points at all and any points you already used before the patch will be removed. Keep in mind that you will have 14 traits now instead of 70.
see that part is confusing.
What he wants to know is if he creates a character now, but leaves it unleveled. …will have all traits unlocked..or not.Andr from the blog, I’m don’t they will be.
As i understand it, yes the traits are unlocked as soon as you have enough points for them, so you don’t need to kill Boss X for that trait.
However unclear for me is, what happens to the way you earn your next point. If you are for example 20 and have 10 / 2 points will you get the next at 25 or at 30, or will you even have 0 points till 30.

I have had this since launch, never thought of it as a ‘bug’. I just move my cursor around, and it always comes back.
But, should they ever have time left over after fixing other bugs, sure…go ahead and fix it! =)
Hehe .. yeah same here. Its a little annoying from time to time, but never that much of a problem that i thought about to bug it

Yea I wonder what are they thinking of? I am sure if the wardrobe thing was announced earlier these skins will sell better.
Like for me I will buy the kasmeer staff skin even tho I have no intention of using it now.
Haha .. and i bought a second kasmeer skin that i still haven’t used that i wouldn’t have bought if they had announced it earlier

Be sure to take everything out of your guild bank as you will lose it all, you will have to open a new guild bank. Everything else will transfer over.
Huh, so you can’t leave the (personal bank) guild open on the first server? I thought I read that along time ago, but have never transferred so I can’t tell if its true or not.
Can you create a guild on a guested server?
I think Wanze wrote recently that he owns 7 banks on different servers.

Sets can also be used, but only as a complete set. Hide headwear should also work, but you can’t mix and match it with other stuff.
The pirates set is however already bought for me as soon as the patch is released

The maps only reset when there are no players on the map at all (for a while, I would guess).
And they really reset instantly when you are the last player and leave the zone. Happened often for me when i farmed Iron at late at night that after i relogged to another character suddenly there was a reset.
However in regards of iron this could be nice sometimes, since that also resets the timer from rich veins.

My new warrior <3
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Well I played the game at launch so the only exotics in the AH were the crafted stuff. It might have changed now but way back when that was the cheapest way.
Yeah .. like i said i also crafted most the stuff for my older character, but now there are often some cheaper alternates or some crafted stuff is really cheap because of people leveling their crafter to 500, but maybe they don’t have exactly the stats you want but maybe you can user other stats on other items instead.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I crafted mine.
It depends what stats you’re going for. I would hold off on skins you’re going for until after the april 15th patch.
Crafted also most of my stuff, but sunday i finished another lvl 80 warrior and bought the most in the TP.
Normally i would go for knights armor and berserker trinkets. However there were for pieces of named armor in the TP with berserker stats that were quite cheap so i bought them and used instead knights earrings.
Then some knight parts were also available for 1g30s or whatever, and others for 5-6g. So i bought the cheap and crafted in the end just the 1-2 expensive parts.
Then i wanted 2 nice axes, as skins. Phoenix Reborn looked nice and i transmuted 1 on an ascended i already had craftet, but the second i simply used how it was since it hat valkyrie stats that also compensated for the more berserker armor, and a Sigill of Fire that was worth 3,20g while i just payed 3,15 for the complete axe.
So .. if you want to spare some money its worth it to browse the AH a little and show if there are cheaper alternates to the crafted stuff

@Title
And no .. its not another goldsink. If we had the wardrobe already from the beginning i think i would have spent around 1500 gold less for duplictate skins.
@Text
I think a lot of people wanted exactly this, since GW2 is for very much people more a skinbased game than e statbased game.

White armor .. right ? Those are pieces that were bought from NPCs.
If you buy white items, the best is not to buy stuff with level 40,50,60 and so on, but better 39,41,49,51 …
Not sure if NPCs sell items for all 10 or even all 5 levels at the moment however.

This happens to me a LOT. And have been a trouble since I don’t know.. 4 months maby. Right click on an item “Sell on Trading Post”. TP open totally clear, and no, I do not have invisible bags.
If it happens now and then, i say thats “normal”. Whenever it happens to me i try maybe use “buy more at the TP”, or sell another item. After that i mostly works again.

Unequip your gathering tool. Speak to a black lion specialist. You can then trade your soulbound tool for an account bound tool.
Btw.: Where can i find the black lion specialist now ? Finished a new warrior last night, and i want maybe to transfer the tools from one of my Rangers to her
And if he is in Vigil Keep, i really need a closer location, since i hoovered over all icons on the mini-map 3-4 times and didn’t found him
He’s right next to the black lion TP in the vigil keep, iirc.
Thanks, will have a look when i’m home from work

Did they recently make invisible bags unable to sell items on TP? I swear before I could…
Thanks for the help!

That has been so since forever. Its the reason why invisible bags exist so that you can’t sell items in them by accident

And Beldin: it was kind of my point that there’d be no need to “flag” people out in the Open World, but rather that they could pitch in with the Dynamic Events.
So if i can’t even flag outside of events, its really even worse, since that means full ganking everywhere. Yay.
Why want you people all destroy the game just because you have maybe fun with ganking lowbies for a while, until there are no more newbies and then the highlevel chars that get fed of beeing ganked leave, and at last the gankers go because there are no victims left.

But on a more interesting note. This does bring up a interesting point of conversation, specifically, more areas. GW2 is has a pretty large game world, so it’s more than reasonable that some areas would have little to no people playing there. Sure people are leveling alts or grinding higher level areas but there is a mid-level zones that tend to be rather empty.
Yeah .. in the end the people will mainly be in those zones that gives the most rewarding loot, or has the less annoying enemies i think.
Last weekend i leveled a new character from zero to 72 (with instant lvl 20 scroll and crafting 3 professions to 400) and in the end i only did Queensdale and Wayfarer complete and spent the most of my time in Dredgehaunt Cliffs, since i like those zones simply the most.
I was also shortly in Gendarran fields with lvl 55+ when i got DR on doing events in the Cliffs, and noticed that the Pirates there got even more annoying with all those new conditions they have now.
So with the current system you will never be forced to use new zones if you don’t like them. In other MMOs you MUST do them with every character to level them to max because you need the exp from all the quests and don’t get exp in lower level areas. Here it is simply not needed to do that.

Its totally false. You forgot this is one of the few games with stats tied to equipment…and was designed with easy to change equipment in mind…(until some guy had the brilliant idea of ascended equip….obviously ignoring how the game works).
Equipment had stats in all MMOs i’ve played so far, the only difference is here that you have more different stats to choose maybe.
And the whole introduction of ascended gear was of course a bad idea (for me), and i doubt also that many players here crafted more than one set of ascended armor with different stats for 1 chars, and don’t let us talk about alts.
Personally i only crafted 1 piece of ascended armor, and that was a medium chest, and yes it was even celestial, but i really don’t care because i made it just for the look.
Also i have 5 characters now with 6 runes of the traveller, and i also don’t really care about the stat change, since if i would do as a min/maxer i have never bought that runes at all. Main point for me is however the 25% speed and the 15% boon duration.
Also like i wrote bevor, a lot people just do the wrong math. 50% crit-damage against 70% is just a difference of 10% effective damage, and that also only at 100% crit-rate.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I would buy blue or green Knights gear, maybe mixed with some Berserker. Just look what you can get for the best prices from the AH.
I also would search maybe for lvl 59-61 stuff at that level, since there is often stuff that is much cheaper in that area than the crafted 60 stuff at the moment i’ve noticed this weekend when i leveled a new warrior from 24 to 72

I’m german and i can still laugh about all kind of Hitler Jokes and really like Chaplins “The great dictator” for example. That is never guaranteed. Personally for me in Lotro the performance was worse than with DX9, so i directly went back to DX9.

I can say this:
Changing functionality of a GRINDY equipment already obtained by players is total disrespect towards players and totally unprofessional.
This is after all an MMO, and things like that happen all the times in MMOs. Just look at all the raid-centric MMOs out there, where people grind the whole year to finally have the best stuff .. and than .. BAMM .. new expansion .. new level cap .. green stuff is suddenly nearly as good as what you raided for the last year.

Flagged for PvP?
So lets discuss it: When should players be flagged for PvP in the Open World?
NEVER. EVER.
Any form of open world PvP and i’m gone. I can live with a lot of bugs, problems and things i don’t like, but that is an absolute no-go. After i raged quitted AION at some point i decided that i never ever will play such a game anymore.
And the whole system of the dynamic events will just give so much room here for griefers where they can destroy the fun for all players, even if there is a flag that you can’t be directly attacked.

That was months ago …
Yeah .. that was already a half year ago when they also nerfed the bloodstone droprate. And that is the only reason i do the train from time to time since i don’t play dungeons, and so i’m one of those rare persons that has constantly more dragonite than bloodstone.

Actually i currently have 72% crit dmg with my ele.
After the patch it’ll be around 50%., That’s a 22% lose in damage. No amount of power/pres/cd/vit/tough could make up for that in pvp terms.
Considering the general rule is max 10% for zerker… it’s far high for celestial user which contains a time BLOCK on crafting.
It’s not a loss of 22% in damage. Unless you literally crit every hit.
Even then its just 11%.
He now makes 222% damage and will do 200% after patch. Thats like 111% vs. 100%, so a loss of 11% and that also only with 100% critical chance. With 50% chance its just 5,5%.

Always ask yourself if the item is worth the price of the splitter or the 2 crystals you need.
Rule of thumb for me :
1. Use splitter only if you want to keep the stats, and only with ascended or legendary items
2. Use the “transmute to white” trick when you want to keep the skin.

Wayfarer Foothills are also quite some people normally. Personally i also simply prefer Queensdale and Wayfarer just because of the relative flat map layout and because there are no undeads there.
I think its also why there is a train in Frostgorge .. its mostly the zone layout. Just imagine running a train in Mount Maelstrom or Sparklfly.

More 80s and other higher level characters will be travelling around to accomplish tasks that are supposed to be fun for scaled players. (I’m referring mostly to the new trait hunt) They will do these “challenges” with impunity and get bored. If a max level player can just steamroll the content that he is forced to play, the game will get boring for all concerned.
The exact opposite for me. I still can’t make myself finish the leftover 30-40% of the map because doing hearts is boring. Being able to steamroll low-level maps with my ascended geared lvl 80 will actually make it more “fun” for me, because I can move back to the my definition of “fun” things faster.
The highest i have on my 11 80s is 73% .. i lost all interest in further exploring when i heared that i need the PvP Maps for 100%. After that each char did less .. my last 80s have even only 21% and 19% .. and i also really can’t bring myself to make more .. and yes for me it would be more fun if i could really steamroll it all like others always claim, however i my opinion the midlevel maps often are not really that much easier than Frostgorge as a lvl 80 map.

You should go to a more populated server then (or don’t, since it sucks); Shadow Behemoth usually has so many people attending the event on my server that if you are not in the swamp 10 minutes before he is spawned you might as well not show up. He goes down that quickly.
Behemoth is the only boss that goes down that fast. Try to solo the Maw Shaman .. or do him with just 2-3 others .. it still takes very long and he can hit hard.
Or go just for fun to maybe Snowden Drifts and stay into some Icebrood Wolves and say how long your 80 will live if your not a warrior with high passive healing. Or steamroll the Mesmer Boss at the Skill Challenge in Snowden.

In other MMOs mostly mobs in low level zones are gray and non aggro to high level player, what makes exploring for me less annoying then when i constantly have to fight.
So no .. i will have no problem if i am maybe a little stronger since you are by far not invincible in GW2 in lower zones.

Basically it is the reason why end game maps like Orr are completely empty, and maps like Queensdale are so crowded. Poeple pick easy loot=easy life.
How do we fix the high level maps in GW2 guys?Devs always talk about bigger penalty over our stats when downscaled. But is this trully the answer? I think not, for 3 reasons.
1st – the mobs in the starting maps are way to easy, and makng them harder (like those in Orr) will be a huge turn off for the new players.
2nd – downscaling in this game works BETTER than the upscaling, therfore low level characters have no benefits whatsoever for being in Orr. Also they dont have access to all their trait, so this means less damage and survivability.
3rd – it is a consequence from 1 and 2 – low level zones are crowded with players from all levels, and the high lvl maps remaining empty.
Also isnt it weird that if I decide, I can level from 1 to 80 just by doing champ events in Queensdale, but if I decide to do so in Orr….well good luck with that.
Orr is a depressing area and it has been constantly nerfed lootwise because people were too much farming there. And not only has the loot nerfed, the bosses in events have als gotten more life, more damage constantly up to a point where some hit you with 64.000 damage.
Personally i lost all interest in Orr after that at some point, and i think from my 11 level 80 character 7 have never been in Orr at all.
Thats the reason why there are maybe not that much people in Orr anymore.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Two things about low level characters:
1. You are sub-30 for about 4 hours unless you are intentionally avoiding things that give XP.
So new players should just buy gold for gems so that they can craft to 30 before starting to actually play the game ?
No, new players should play the game normally and be level 30 in around 4 hours by doing events/renown hearts.
Early leveling is incredibly fast.
How in the world do you make 30 levels with exploring and hearts in 4 hours ? You must confuse 30 with 3 somehow, since this is simply impossible. Doing 2 level in an hour is already really fast .. normal is something like 1 level per hour.
