Awesome changes just went live I see

What about underwater skills unlocking faster?
Level 23 to unlock all underwater skills is still a bit far away.

And any word on account based trait unlocks (mostly in regards to PvP traits)

Most likely they took away the feed (although the bags are still all over the place) because folks used them as speed boosts.

What? You seriously consider it a good reason to destroy content? I mean… Who cares? :/

Re-reading my post, I really don’t see that I said it was good. Actually I only gave my opinion as to why it was changed.

And if no one cared, they would not be talking about “Dancing with the cows”

I passed through Tillamook this summer ankitten ow truly sorry that I did not buy the t-shirt with that caption in the gift shop.

Yep.

And in Queensdale you get to dance in front of cows and rub plants till they grow. Blame the NPE, apparently Arena Net think new players are brain dead and can not possibly handle anything so complicated as pouring water on plants or controlling a golem that only has two skills.

Most likely they took away the feed (although the bags are still all over the place) because folks used them as speed boosts.

I haven’t seen the catch the bunnies active up by the Asura gate to DR, so I don’t know if you can still get a bunny speed boost. If so, a bit more problematic as the bunnies are not up often enough to count on.

Now that we can pick stats for PS rewards..

Forcing players to spend out hundreds of gold for them AND then use Transmutation Charges to apply it to their armor just feels a bit like them wheedling that little extra money out of your hand. It’s not a nice feeling.

The good thing is however that you can sell the armor directly back to the NPC after
you bought it, and so its a little cheaper since we got the wardrobe.

That’s a good idea, I just destroy mine : (

On the “New Players” that was used for making this NPE, did ANet even once think about whether or not those “New Players” may have been fanboys for another MMO and saw GW2 as a threat so they purposely gave ANet bogus feedback hoping ANet would make the changes and then alienate their WHOLE player base?

That seems pretty far fetched.

How about some basic salvage and gathering tools again?

Putting out fire with water (!) removed.

I found it a bit amusing when I was semi-AFK near the first heart in Queensdale, and the NPC shouts that I need to grab a bucket of water and help put out the fires. There were no fires, there were no buckets. There was a player or two killing the Bandits, so I can’t say if any of the hay balls gets actually put on fire anymore, but still.. the dialogue was so out of place now that the bundles are gone.

If you walk up close to the burning hay bale, you get the press f prompt. That extinguishes the flame.

Firefighters rock.

Key Farming (exploit) Y/N?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bellizare.5816

Bellizare.5816

Though.. considering my key runs still net me tons of sellable farming mats, I end up gaining gold and a key.

Yeah, but none of the mobs in PS drop anything, and there are no gathering nodes in PS or early zones, so you don’t get mats and stuff anymore.

The crappy RNG isn’t worth the effort and gold to do it now, imho. I loved doing key runs in the old system. I mean, I can’t imagine doing a lot of them at a time, but for those times when I knew I just had 30 minutes to play, and I wanted to do something that was almost muscle memory so that I could let my brain defrag from the day…keyfarming was a soothing, easy 30 minutes that I didn’t have to think about, and in the end I got a chance to play lottery with a chest.

But, in all the chests I’ve opened, I’ve never gotten enough scraps to get a weapon skin; I mostly got crappy boosters, stupid 50 luck bubbles, and other junk like repair canisters. The “biggest” thing I ever got from a chest was a makeover kit.

So, while I liked chests as the cherry on top of my mental defrag keyrun, they are not worth paying real money or spending gold on, for me personally.

But however you feel about keyruns, or the impact on them by the new PS, as has been stated over and over, and here on this thread by a Mod; they are not now, nor have they ever been, an exploit.

I did notice that there are no mob drops anymore. Also I got loot bags that gave me gear for professions other than my key runner.

I don’t know about how many people forum post vs total players, but if you hang out in the starter zones, you don’t hear a lot of praise for the NPE.

That being said, I am OK with it, but with a couple of tweaks. The thing with skill points is kind of silly in my opinion. Also they should just drop the intro instance. It’s just a waste of time now, unless you are so dense that you need a whole instance to learn movement and camera controls.

Ranger. Golem banker. I used xp, regen, speed and armor boosts. White armor with power talis, blue lvl 0 SB with sigil of blood and speed. Pet bear.

From start to end of the PS was one hour and 45 minutes. Could have been faster, but I had to go to Divinity Reach to buy some 8 slot bags. The TP guy that used to be in Shaemoor didn’t seem to be around anymore.

The key got me a bank access, crafting booster and BL salvage kit.

I did the thing with trying the NPE. Well, I really can’t pretend to be a new player, and my MF and other account bonuses really made it unrealistic anyway.

So I’m going to go at it the other way. Rolling an alt and using every advantage that I can drop on it from the very start (except for leveling tomes). I can use up some of the hundreds of boosters that I have in the bank among other things.

My guess is that the only part that will make me grumble is the trait business from the previous feature pack.

If you want to try this as well, please share your experiences here.

This accusation gets tossed around a lot – that certain people who post such high praise for Anet’s decisions might be rewarded in some way. I haven’t reached a decision on this yet, so I thought the best approach is just to come right out and ask.

Will someone at ANet please tell the rest of us if you reward certain people for their forum comments? If you could just issue a flat out denial then that might diminish the number of accusations, especially right now.

If it were to be serious, I’d guess Vayne, but let’s face it – it would be below any level of decency for any company to do that.

If you think that corporations don’t use dirty tactics, then you are just a little naïve. And of course they won’t fess up unless they get caught.

It’s really not that unusual. TBH I’ve done very similar things in connection with political campaigns.

So you know why I put my last sentence precisely as my last sentence. Just to highlight the gravity of the “dirty tactics” if it were the case with this game.

The following are level gated items:
. . .

All of that is plenty horrible. Did they not realize that all of these things were unlocking later than they were unlocking before? If anything they should unlock faster, not slower. When has “slower” ever been a desired feature? If people wanted slower, all they’d have to do is take a break after killing each enemy, maybe go get a sandwich.

I usually play with snacks close to hand myself.

Still upon occasion a bio-pause is needed.

Things you can do at level 2: use the bank; use the Black Lion vendor; start on trades; purchase harvesting and salvaging equipment, and use them; use the gates to get to Lions Arch.

Of course this doesn’t make up for the elite skill coming at 40 and underwater skills coming late but we aren’t crippled. The game still works.

Are you talking about underwater weapon skills. I went to the TP at level 4, bought a harpoon gun and could use it underwater. What you DON’T get is a free underwater weapon at all.

You still get a free weapon, my level 2 warrior has his cracked harpoon. The skills are unlocked fairly late though. Except for, obviously, skill 1.

But my level 3 Ranger has nothing equipped for under water.

Keep reading through the thread.

So I have to buy one then. Thx.

LOL, I’m only trying to level as a lark because I had my key farmer slot. Obviously I can buy the best of stuff (actually have good stuff like Primeval Armor, Level 0 blues, sigils, runes, harvest tools, every sort of booster, food, skill and level scrolls and lotsa gold), but wanted the new player “experience.”

I’m actually having a good time, but mostly because it’s all so silly. If I had just bought the game, I don’t think that I would be enjoying the humor as much.

It’s not just about making more sense. It’s about the feeling of progression you never really got before. A new person coming to this game from another MMO didn’t have a lot of bling in the leveling process.

So you know, your stats would go up every time you leveled, but nothing told you that happened. You used to be able to level without ever noticing. You can’t do that now. It always gives you something. There’s always something unlocking.

I’m guessing for a new player, it might be a bit more involving if nothing else.

And the speed to level to 15 has been dramatically increased, which doesn’t hurt me.

No point Vayne. Look at all the posts in this topic. 80% of the people here complain because they like to complain. People would focus on speed leveling through the game and then complain their is nothing to do. This game imo is the fastest game to level in but they are all “hardcore” gamers so they will attack anything that isn’t WoW (gear treadmill) or a game that forces you to have 5 skill bars open because THATS HARDCORE!!! YEAH!!!! HARDCORE!!!!! ( Hey I can be sarcastic too! Awesome! I never knew! )

Everyone is complaining on the their decision, presentation, planning, and thought process. Not the direction, You’d be in heavy denial if you think this is a great execution.

TP was fixed. Rangers fixed. You know whats annoying? When someone reads a build on a forum and comes here and gets owned because they don’t know HOW to run the build. The changes to leveling imo will help people with that problem. Just because you go to a forum and pick a build doesn’t mean you know how to use it correctly or when would be best times to us skills. Not everyone is born with the GREAT INTELLIGENCE that all the Q.Q here were born with. Honestly I’m sure a good portion of these people have bad W/L ratio in PvP because they don’t know how to run their build. LVL 100 with 30%/70% W/L ratios. And you level here then go to ANY OTHER MMO and level there and see who gets to level 80 1st.

People running around with other people’s builds not knowing anything. This situation is a flaw by design. Accessibility is of course welcomed but I honestly don’t think people are as.. In need of help as you imply. Taking more time to get to lvl 80 is fine and perhaps preferred for people that enjoyed the progression aspect more. However without the meat that fills the husk just getting to 80 slower or quicker is meaningless and pointless.

Well idk I think the point for low level areas is to learn the game and I think this update does just that. Neither you or I can say how much help a new player needs because we obviously are not new players. Looking back at when I started playing GW2 I didn’t feel a sense of direction now with this new patch you have those guides.

And can you please explain what “meat that fills the husk” means because I honestly don’t understand you on that one.

Yeah, the dodge tutorial really helped me personally — took me a little while to master though. I also love the fact you can’t die in the tutorial and can just AFK. They should just remove the downed state and death from the game until you reach level 80.

Personally, I got a portal through the dodge tutorial. I kept getting knocked down when I tried to get the chest. Frustrating to say the least.

I kept dodging backwards. How do you go forwards?
