Returning from a week away, no changes to computer except GW2 update. Nvidea GEFORCE 745 H. Only place I have seen it (so far) is Vale in Queensdale.
Coming upon it via Pinion Trail. Thought the card had burnt until I got closer to the ranch.
I don’t understand their logic here. Create an official forum just to communicate first through an unofficial forum.
I guess that they don’t actually read the official forums.
Yes, crashed, logged back in, all progress lost.
I am confused. How does someone that got all of their accounts banned, post on the forums anyway?
He is in the same place every time I’ve been to LA – at the candy corn icons on your map, by the southern-most one/bottom left one standing in front of a tent or something.
Thanks. Found him and finished up my Halloween rewards. : )
Walking all around Trader’s Forum, but I have not seen him : (
Iam sorry if i wrote Characters and Fractals wrong or even something more. English isnt my native language and in my native language its written with “k”. Maybe it was some kind of auto correction, or i just misspelled it. In any case, sorry for that, but that doenst make my initial Post any less true or more emotional. I dont clame to be 100% right in everything, but i do think i have a pretty cool-headed opinion about MMOs.
Actually your original post is only true in the sense that it is all based on your opinion. And to be honest, your opinion is no more true than anyone else’s.
“boring”
I see that word being used by a lot of impatient kids these days.
I’m having a blast in the news maps, but maybe that’s because I’m playing for fun and not really paying attention to any sort of grind.
Not all of us are so entertained by shiny pixels. My idea of fun isn’t repeating the exact same event chain 30 times for a SINGLE mastery level. And then I get to do that 30 times to earn all of my masteries.
And then I get to do that ENTIRE process again for all of my characters.
So much fun.
Sadly, some people actually have nothing better to do.
I think it’s fair to say the majority of GW2 players have not had sufficient life experience to arrive to this conclusion, and honestly, I don’t imagine it will make any difference to read it without seeing it first-hand… but let me try to explain how it is that I never find myself up in arms about anything regarding this game. (Not anymore, that is.)
If I am not mistaken, ArenaNet has made it fairly clear what their objective is in producing this game, and it can be summed up nicely in this quote that I recall seeing more than once from various members of the team:
“It’s not about the destination; it’s about the journey.”
Aside from being a profound nugget of wisdom, this approach is evident in the expansion content. It will take more than a few hours to do much of anything, and that’s the bloody point, because when you do finally achieve whatever it is you’re working toward, it’s still nothing more than bits on a server. You don’t get a sensory or monetary reward, or even so much as a pat on the back here in the real world. So why are you doing it?
Think of it this way: when the day finally comes that you stop playing this game, who is going to give a flying kitten how many legendary weapons you had? Or if you unlocked all the elite specs? Or got whatever particular thing you have your sights set on? The obvious answer is literally nobody. You aren’t playing because it gets you anything in real life. You aren’t playing because you’re trying to make a fortune and send your future grandchildren to college. You’re playing because it’s a kitten game, and that’s what games are for.
So, at the end of the day, the whole purpose of it all is purely diversion. And that is what you have been given. You may take it or leave it, for as long as you wish, however it suits you and your own personal circumstances in life. You may even find it simply isn’t worth your time or money to play this game, and if that’s the case, well, you shouldn’t be playing.
All of you who have taken it upon yourselves to cry outrage over the amount of time it takes to do X, Y, or Z, all that amounts to is petty signaling. You just want to show you have principles that you refuse to lapse. But that means nothing. The reality is that I have chosen to be satisfied by this game, with all its ups and downs, because the only thing I seek from it is to be entertained, and for as long as I am entertained, I will continue to enjoy it.
I urge any of you who are unsatisfied with the game to consider this perspective. It has rid me of the self-imposed burden of being upset about nothing, and I’m sure it can do the same for you.
Insufficient life experience to appreciate a fantasy world? Get a grip please.
So it’s possible to use the elite specs in pvp without purchasing the expansion ? I’m asking, because I have gw2 uninstalled.
No, it is not possible to use elite specializations in PvP if you do not own Heart of Thorns.
Yes, elite specializations are far superior to normal professions, and have no drawbacks whatsoever.
No, you cannot choose to join matches with other players who do not own the expansion.
Yes, this does mean Guild Wars 2 is now technically Pay-to-Win.
Right now, most of the Elite specs are not good.
As a matter of fact, I have no idea why they even refer to them as “Elite”.
The intention is to balance all the new “specs” to be EQUAL to all the base specs. So if people without the expansion can’t beat them then they will get nerfed.
Right now however, most of the Elite specs suck. So I have absolutely no idea what you are complaining about.
well i was fighting a druid character with my ranger and had no effect on him.. he instantly heals ..no matter what i hit him with..yesterday..was killing players left and right.
Pst…. try some cc. I swear, this thread is so funny. Just because something is new and people don’t know how to fight them yet, everyone is screaming “OP” and crying that it is all pay to win now. So sad…..
Warrior is OP, Pst…. try some cc. Ranger is OP, Pst…. try some cc. Necromancer is OP, Pst…. try some cc. Elementalist is OP, Pst…. try some cc. Guardian is OP, Pst…. try some cc. Thief is OP, Pst…. try some cc. Revenant is OP, Pst…. try some cc. Mesmer is OP, Pst…. try some cc. Engineer is OP, Pst…. try some cc. Don’t know why you even mention CC, real win strategy is to just bring their health down to 0.
Of course. But as I said above, what a kitten bore. The ranger elite thing is ridiculous. Takes forever to kill it, but considering it isn’t really hurting you, it turns into a boring boss fight. More relieved than elated when the thing is finally downed.

HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]

Yes, if you want to turn your original account into a storage account and start over on a brand new account, you can. You’ll have a new account and it will have 5 char slots, vanilla Tyria and the expansion.
Can i apply the expansion to my current account and use the base game i got with it as a separate account? That would definitely be more advantageous..
No
I’m having trouble even getting into the zones. Is very confusing. One would think if they bought the expac they would be able to try the content?? sigh
Never fear. They will bring the NPE to HOT.
And they do this with Assassin’s Creed Syndicate coming out on the same day as well as other games coming out on the same day. People were looking to see what to spend their 50$ on, nerfing the core game, meh, who cares, we’ll just play another game.
Hence the reason the pre-purchase was pushed for the last few months. Lots of people threw money at them based on faith. Hopefully those folks feel that they got their money’s worth.
Yes, the only problem with poorly played elites is that it takes kitten long to kill them, and the process is kinda boring.
Anyone not buying HoT and still playing ?

I’ll probably keep playing (didn’t buy hot yet, as I didn’t care for the pre-purchase thing). I only finished living story 2 on one of my toons, and have several that have not even begun it yet, or finished their personal story. I might change my mind if I log in and find that pre-existing core content has been locked behind HOT.
They have been nerfing loot continuously for the last two years. How often do you actually find something useful in a “Champ” bag? Key runs are now limited. How many keys have you had drop since that change?
As to revenue, there might be a very good reason why the HOT pre-purchase {It’s been months} was pushed so heavily. Always nice when you can use other folks money, and not have to pay interest. The question in my mind, is whether post launch sales of HOT will be strong.
You’d spend more on waypoints than what it’d cost to just buy the copper from the TP
You don’t have to spend anything on waypoints. I never do.
Huh????
He probably runs everywhere and never waypoints.
Ah. I thought he was saying his waypoints were free.
Yes, you can get to any city at no charge, and free waypoint to starter map entrance, which is where you want to go to mine copper. You usually don’t have to go far to find some nodes.
There are free waypoints to starter map entrances now? I didn’t know that. They must of put that in at the same time as the Play for Free accounts.
Edit: I just checked. It’s not free for my level 80 to travel to the starter map waypoint. I guess you meant that you have to travel to the city first, then waypoint to the closest waypoint by the portal, then run through to the starter map.
Yes. And in Ascalon, for instance, you can pretty quickly run to two rich nodes. There is a chest at the one location as well.

what do you need said copper ore for?
Turn copper into gold most likely. I wanted to make a backpack for a new toon.
To be honest, I was not referencing promoting. Simply selling copper for gold. Some profit there.

Logged in yesterday and was astounded that there was not a single copper node in the Troll’s tunnel complex. Killed so many poor grubs in my anger.
When I see revenants i say to myself “this gonna be looong fight”
Some builds are way over the top, its like elementalists v3.0
Yes, killed one over the weekend with ranger. I was more relieved that the incident was over, than I was elated at a kill.
wow people are getting super upset by this, just like EVERYTHING anet does. Theres always a group of people who get upset at anything anet does, even if anet gives every player 100 gems someone will complain. This change is happening, plan around it.
100 gems is kind of like chicken feed. And they don’t even feed the chickens here.
Was on a loser streak, then fell into a match where we came back to win 500 vs 499. Closest match I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately, there seem to be too many matches that end 500 vs 0. No way you can convince me that is good match making. No wonder people leave of afk.
I got dc’d while winning. Sometimes people leave even if they don’t want to.
Yes. I just use the “Play Now” option, as I am not too serious of a PvP player. Usually the matches are OK, occasionally close and exciting. Other times you can’t even get out of the spawn point without being quickly downed.
That being said, some of my best drops came from losing matches.
Was Mining in Orr today .Ran into an event Daggerstormed a large amounts of incoming Undead boom Key think my fourth in three years:)
My past key drops have been from unexpected sources. But on my first day with an alt account, Ebonblade dropped from a bandit under the Shaemoor Fields Bridge, and a key dropped on water pipes defense. I had to mail a chest from my main account to use it. I got a Toxic Skale mini and some junk.
Guys and girls, you do realise 2 things happened with the change:
1: drop rate of black lion keys increased.
2: drop rate of black lion chests increased.
So while Anet are saying they giving us something, they are infact not, as the chests always had a higher drop rate so we got more chests than keys. So this will just be the same.
If they had just increased the drop rate of the keys alone then I believe we would see a difference. As for waiting until the data is in, there is no need.
Just check the data from the past 12 months, as nothing has changed.
Move along, nothing to see here.
I was scoring a BL chest almost daily, but recently I’ve been finding 2 or 3 after a couple of hours of PvE play. No keys though.
We shouldn’t blame this on F2Players Anet restricted their use of the TP.
An F2P account can be unlocked by upgrading the account. Thus, an RMT/gold seller could employ an army of F2P accounts to farm keys and gather black lion tickets or other rare items, then upgrade each account when it hit critical mass.
The problem could have been dealt with much more elegantly by preventing F2P accounts from being able to get Black Lion Keys. The change they implemented went overboard and hurt legitimate players.
Yes, it would have been an effective strategy to allow free accounts to get chests, but limit keys to paid account. Upgrade to open the chests. Even give a free key for upgrading.
For a while now, I have seemed to be acquiring a BL chest or 2 anytime I played any toon of any level in PvE. Even after dumping 500 on the TP I have over 100 now. I did have a key drop a couple of weeks ago in Orr, off a random npc, but that was before the patch.
Opened a BL chest over the weekend, and got a ticket and a scrap. Scrap got me to 10, so I picked up 2 skins. Probably use them myself, but tempted to hold on for a while to see how prices go.
Very likely to be this one: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sanctum_of_Secrets
Yes, the Order of Whispers up to old tricks again.
I just hot join. Lucky sometimes if only down by one. I’ll join the losing team or whatever. Eventually I’ll be on the stomping side.
Recently got two ascended drops despite the fact I was on the losing side. I just do my best no matter the odds.
Just click “Play Now”
Good Job. I think I might try the Smurf thing.
TBH, wouldn’t it be nice if they just let you skip the whole starting area if you are not a first timer? Do we really need to learn how to press 1 each time we make a new character?
Prior to NPE, at least you could unlock some weapon skills there.
Oddly, I did the Windows 10 update this morning, and my fps increased almost 2×.
I am running on one of those Asus Laptops with the dual graphics cards Intel and Nvidia.
On WIFI, 55-65 open world auto detect, 22-28 best appearance.
Why? I haven’t noticed any problems outside of the small graphical glitch telling us to train. I still have all of my skills/traits. Stop whining.
“Stop whining”?
LOL-maybe you ought to read the bugs area and the fact Anet has acknowledged the various problems being reported. I suspect you are trolling or just living up to your name. No, you’re all making a big deal out of a non-issue. Sure its annoying that it keeps telling me to train my skills/traits but its just a graphical thing. It will go away eventually when they fix it and until then it doesn’t affect my gameplay at all. I have noticed zero game play issues since patch. Anet may be acknowledging issues but none of those issues are rollback worthy nor do they warrant the crybaby reaction that is going on.
Try playing Living Story Season 2, then we can talk again.
K, just did one of the episodes. What is the issue?
I lost 2 levels that I just completed.

All the PvP amulets that I had spent gold on unlocking (Cavalier, Assassin, Magi, Sentinel) along with all the gold-unlocked runes and sigils have become locked again and require me to unlock them with gold again.
Oh Oh, I just checked, and that happened to me on top of everything else as well.
Bug aka other players. 3 from my 4 characters – reset traits, absent hero points, locked living story S2 (all finished and openly missions), locked and reset much achievements ….. etc, etc, etc.
Perfect work.
Yep. My two oldest characters are totally busted. Everything reported here and who knows what else. Odd, but my newest has PvP rewards track, Dailies, skills and traits etc, just like before.
Great job there. If you ever get it fixed again, you should really give all of us that got messed over some swag for ruining the game.
Make the debuff a 24hrs ban and we have a deal
Way too excessive. Not at all ban worthy.
A quitter’s debuff of 30 minutes sounds about right.
3-1-1 I think.
I play Asura way too much.
And the Mysterious grubby package of course.
Ohno! My necro’s perfect pet is bugged. Plz fix asap.
I have the same issue.
On Red Alert, one of the level 60 priory personal story instances, uses a non restored version of Lions Arch for the area outside the house. Its a minor bug, but its interesting to enter the house and look off the balcony and see a very different city
The Order of Whispers Personal Story line takes place in the pre-destruction LA as well.
You can sell the maps to a vendor for around 1 silver each.
Yes, this must have been mind boggling to many. Hence all of the threads about lost skill points etc.
Seriously, if you are 80, you have nothing to complain about (except gold spent to unlock the now free traits).
If sub 80, no idea. Don’t have any serious one. Just a key runner.
