Details for people that aren’t able to play right now please.
I’m not on but I’m assuming they are talking about this:

Improvements
New Currency Exchange UI:
The Currency Exchange UI has been overhauled to be quicker to use and easier to understand.
Quick exchange options for both currencies are now visible on the front page of the Currency Exchange.
The comparison between Exchange for Gold and Exchange for Gems prices is much more obvious.
Fixed exchange amounts have been set to simplify the exchange process and remove confusing rounding points.
Added a preview of new balances.
Added an improved confirmation UI.
So just another effort to make the game “less confusing” lol.
Asuran Guardian. Tiny terror with a big hammer.
Just go to your servers WvW. Visit Trader. Leave WvW.
Right back where you started.
Also works for banking. Just visit any crafting station.
I see that they are selling 2,000 gems for $34.90.
Not a very good deal.
For example, right now crafting materials aren’t all labeled as such. When a player first starts, there’s not an easy distinction between crafting materials and trophies. Giving them the descriptors “crafting material” and “junk” would make that difference much more clear. Plus it would take the guess work out of the “sell junk” button at vendors. Before you come to understand what it does, there’s the question “is this item important? Should I be keeping it for something? It says ‘trophy’ so what do I do with it?”
The tool-tip gives a wealth of information, that’s what the new player need to learn: use the informational tool-tips.
Yes, learn to read.
Well, for me the stats on the gear are all wrong, and I can’t salvage or sell it, so…..
It’s always one soldier’s/knights, one condition and one zerker/assassins type from which you can chose, so all types.
All the pieces I saw were condi dmg.
Leveling a Necro BTW.
Welcome back.
An Error Prevented Saving:
•Message Body length must at least be 15.
you are ignoring a lot of the problems with your simple answer.
locking every trait is too much for new players, most of them just dont get them or have many missing traits.
Its exactly the same for every charachter, thats boring. I can level up to 80 like 10 different ways, go to different zones, do wvw, do spvp, craft, explore, do it slow with dailies, burn some kill boosters and look for bonus exp Run my favorite chain repeatedly. etc.
the unlock on these traits is either grind gold, or do them again, 65? traits 8 proffessions, thats a lot of monotony.bandaids can only make it less annoying, it cant actually make it a good system. I dont think a dev should ever aim for a moderately annoying game system
I’m not ignoring a lot of the problems. I just don’t care enough to do the work when:
- It won’t be implemented. There is no way in Grenth’s Blue Hall anyone would let me get close enough to a game design process to actually have impact on what was made.
- Nobody is going to like it. Let’s face it, any idea I come up with is going to be trash because . . . frankly, I’m an idiot.
- Everyone is going to find faults with it. See above. Because I am an idiot, I likely am going to have at least a dozen problems with how things would have to be implemented.
- Even if the above three weren’t a problem, it’d probably break as soon as people got their hands on it.
Because sometimes +1 just isn’t big enough.
I xpect a trick.
Make sure your weapon is “sheathed” or just remove it. Also be careful with speed buffs. I’ve found that they usually help smaller characters, but can cause my taller ones to overshoot landings.
Wikia is done by players not Arenanet so use it at your own risk. also all other golems work the same way, they all have 2 week real time.
This seems more like a user error.
I did not claim that it wasn’t, I am just upset that it works differently than the other 2 week golem that appears to be exactly the same, without there being any mention of this in the item description. The DD golem can be collected from your mail without the timer starting. Only once you actually use the golem to access your bank does the 2 weeks start ticking away. Thus, I assumed (even more confident after also checking the info on the OFFICIAL Wiki – perhaps hosting is the only official bit about it, but info on there is usually correct and it’s what you find if you use the in-game command “/wiki banker golem (2 weeks)”) that the item you buy from the gemstore would be the same. If the gemstore golem had come with a description that states “timer starts as soon as item is delivered” then that would’ve been fine, but it doesn’t.
Actually the descriptions and the icons of the 2 different golems are different now, they corrected it the same day they did the promotion of free banker golem. For the deluxe golems it specifically states timer starts ticking after you consume it. For the gemstore golem that is omitted, it doesn’t say anything anymore, only that you can use it to access your bank for 2 weeks. It would be a nice touch tho if they added to description that time starts immediately after purchase to minimise confusion and complaints.
Yes. Sometimes it seems that the BLTC goes out of their way to upset paying customers.
To be honest though, it’s just that many of the item descriptions are poorly done.
I got wiped by a bazillion bandits in Queensdale a few days ago. They just kept coming.
Real girls don’t need hand holding through entry level content.
I thought the changes were seriously dumbing things down until I started a new character in Wayfarer’s where I started my very first character, totally new to MMOs. And yeah, instant flashback. How do I feed these bears? What am I supposed to do next? Why are the people in my story instance not there now? And not learning what my other weapon skills did for a long time because it was just a rush of confusion. I remember not realizing that Wayfarer’s had a huge section to the north for way too long a time, I thought I was just supposed to spam everything in the lower area over and over!
I know how all this stuff works now, but at that moment I realized that I had forgotten that initial confusion. I don’t know if the new changes fix this stuff or not, only ANet does, but there was definitely an issue to be resolved.
I went to Wayfarer’s for dailies yesterday. How the heck do you feed the bears now?
What daily is there for feeding bears?
None, but there was one for four events in Nornville, so I dropped by. I was on a newish necro, and I didn’t have that heart yet.
Ah, of course. Put that down to having just woken up.
Not being able to feed the bears is way down my list of changes to Wayfarer I don’t like. There’s a heart been removed altogether, and there are rocks dogs on the map now! What’s with that? Rock dogs!! I don’t really care what they’ve done to the other starter maps (except the chess) but some of the changes to Wayfarer just have me stumped.
I’ve done the Norn zones, but to be honest I am more familiar with Asura, Sylvari and Human (of course.) Still, Wayfarer seemed like half thought through and incomplete post patch.
I have been leveling up yet another mesmer, this time in EoTM. I have around 15 or so characters and this is my first one with the new NPE.
At first, the lack of some functionality felt limiting.
Now, when I level up and see that icon in the corner, i’m excited to see what reward I get! Rare armor, breather, etc.
For me, as a serious veteran player, i really like this part of the system!
Well, for me the stats on the gear are all wrong, and I can’t salvage or sell it, so…..
Edited to add that I really like your name.

Even I bought the Inventor’s Sunglasses.

You might want to check out this thread.
I was hoping for the witch’s outfit, as I bought the broom as an impulse buy a few weeks ago.
How do I join this great guild?
First, got to make sure you’re on the right server to do the WvW alongside them. But there are some guilds who would likely be more than willing to organize “let’s get the Grub for our members on X night” if you talk about needing it.
. . . it worked when I commented about needing to finish Ascalonian Catacombs path 2
It is a bit unfortunate, in my opinion, that one would require guild intervention to obtain a trait.
Running a dungeon, yes. That makes more sense.
A skilled player is one that doesn’t take the game too seriously.
Much better than my grumpy, just got home from work comment.
: )
A hefty line of credit and a life free from concerns over work, family or other relationships.
I don’t mind this system
I’m playing since August this year, but I like having to actually work a bit before you can use strong builds with good traits
Oh and I haven’t bought a single trait yet, and have bout 12 more to go before i got them all I think, maybe 15It’s great the first time around! But how many alts do you have? Try doing some of these things 11 or 12 times and see if it’s still as fun.
Yes, the enthusiasm of youth.
Someone mentioned that you have to kill Overgrown Grub to unlock one of the traits. That reminded me of that last time I was in WvWvW and someone was trying to get a group together to kill the grub. The chat went something like this:
Casual: Hey guys let’s kill the grub boss!
Me: Why would you want to kill the grub?
Random1: Go back to PvE, n00b.
Commander1: Everyone get to the keep!
Random2: Swords at keep!
Casual: We need more for grub, there’s only like 4 or 5 of us.
Commander2: If you aren’t on my tag, just uninstall the game.
Random3: Why are there a bunch of people fighting the grub?
Random4: More like, why are there a bunch of people dying at the grub.Last time I killed the grub it went something like this.
Guildie: Can anyone help me kill the grub.
Other guildies: Give me a sec, just finishing up this event…I’ll go…sure thing.Five minutes later the grub was dead.
People say there’s no value to guilds in this game. I just don’t get it.
How do I join this great guild?
Bottom line is that they deleted content. Yes folks. Not adding content. Just the opposite. Silly golem chess and so on. It was content , now it’s gone.
Personally I enjoyed the silly starter level quests and such. The game is just so mundane without it. Still playable, yet so bland.
Hmm? I must have thought you meant “swap weapon” effects happening on bundles. Such as getting swiftness when I pick up a “bone” bundle weapon.
Oh? I never heard about that, sounds like some bug or something.. if my slow mesmer would only knew that.. goodbye unreliable TC… :P just joking.
For PvE Mesmer I always equip a weapon slot with sigil of speed and murder everything in sight to maintain acceleration.
Yeah, I see that.
Never understood why they had the boost on the feed bundle to start with. The cows are right next to the sacks.
The bunnies on the other hand…
The feed bundles were abused as speed boosters.
Of course that does not answer why they just didn’t take the speed boost away. On the other hand, I bought a dancing with cows t-shirt at the Tillamook factory in Oregon this summer.
The speed boost happens that way because it then manages to work with Engineer kits, presumably. Taking it away then breaks Engineer.
. . . well, breaks it again.
The feed bundles at the ranch were speed boosts. The bunnies by the Asura gate to DR also gave a speed boost, but I have not noticed that event up lately. You used to be able to buy rabbit foot accessories from the nearby merchant for a short time if the bunnies all got returned before they ate all of the melons.
But the bunnies were not up all of the time, and I never passed the ranch without grabbing a feed sack.
Suggestions:
- Unlock personal story at level 1 and every 10 levels after, and re-insert “My Greatest Fear” at level 60
Except that violates the reasoning behind the change, to unlock a chapter only when a player can binge it in it’s entirety.
Assuming, of course, that the change is a good one that should be kept.
HandOfKane. Warhammer?
I was thinking Command and Conquer.
Ah yes. Warhammer was Khaine or something.
Loved C&C on my old power mac.

Anyway, let’s put it this way: entertaining a cow isn’t logical in anywhere in universe, either RL or in game. A cow is hungry and what you do is dance in front it? C’mon, that’s non-sense. And again, what’s the difficulty in handling a bundle? Anyone curious enough could quickly figure out what to do with it and how to get rid of it. It’s even funny they took away bundles from starter hearts while I still see random bundles around in some starter areas (and with it I mean lower than lvl 5 areas)…

The obelisk in my home instance seems to have vanished after the updates.
You should read the dev posts on this forum. Trial accounts have already been locked out from messaging anyone who does not friend them first …
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Free-Trial-Changes/first#post4440172
No I think Bellizare meant seeing them flooding a free trial is an indicator of a healthy MMO and when they don’t bother coming it’s a sign that the end is nigh.
Xackly. : )
Gold sellers are kind of like canaries in the coal mine.
Possibly they don’t want the trials scared off by all the NPE complaining that you hear in the starter zones.
They are annoying now and make the maps a little more ugly. They are easy enough to do when you know what you are doing and if you have the right gear/lvl/build or number of players. But like others have said, the reward is junk and they just seem out of place now.
I was clearing the Brisban map on one of my alts last night and there was a tree I wanted to gather from but it was right in the middle of one of these areas. The event was not going but all the mobs were there. This essentially means that is 1 dead tree spot that I can not gather from (well I could but the time/effort taken to kill the enemies would not be worth it). Yeah you can laugh it up “oh noes you can’t gather from 1 lame low level tree”. But I have seen other cases in other maps where these events/areas/mobs intrude on other things as well.
It’s time for them to go. I am not saying I don’t want hard content at all, but at least have that hard content be fun, rewarding as well as IMPROVING the general area where it is located. While also not having it be some confusing odd thing for new players. We know you can dumb the game down to such levels that new players and vets are left with the feeling that you will never let go of our hands so why the heck are things like this still in place to confuse even more these confused players…..?
Still, if the mobs dropped anything useful, it would not be a waste of time to clear the area.
Sorry. To clarify, I think that the OP meant “zones lower than 40”. I disagree. I think that there should be one, well-placed toxic event in the starter zones. IMO, other zones are fine.
Oh, you are correct. So sorry.
Still, I might agree with zones -15.
After that, you should know enough to make an informed choice about the event.
And it would be a good thing if the engineers fired their mortars. If the thing is on the map, it should at least work.
Starter zones maybe, but the post is about 40 zones.
Seriously, you can easily avoid these areas. Just walk around them.
I do agree that they should function correctly if they are to be on the map. It looks unprofessional otherwise.
To be absolutely fair here, every change that is made to the game (whether you approve of it or not) needs to be done by the developers. Every single little thing makes time and effort, and that takes money.
So, when you’re buying gems, you’re not putting money into some soulless computer. You’re putting money in the pockets of all the developers and technicians it takes to keep the servers running, keep fixing bugs, keep filing support tickets, keep making all the changes to the coding…
Sensationalism is one thing, but keep in mind that every cent you complain about spending is going to put food into peoples’ stomachs and a roof over their head. Even if no changes were made, you’d still be paying the people who just keep the day-to-day running. So, watch what you say when you complain like this, because the implications are often deeper than you realize.
Here in the USA, we mostly operate on a free market economy model.
The Six alone know what the “Unidentified Object” actually is.
“Points of Interest (level 7)
Gathering Nodes (Level 9) – Nodes may have been removed in areas before this level. No there is no potato famine there is plenty of potato in Metrica Province.
Vista (level 10)”These help you level. They shouldn’t have been removed at all. This is 2014, most players coming to Guild Wars 2 already have a strong grip on the basics of an MMO (leveling, gathering, professions, etc).
We need more guilds like mine offering help to new players in exploration and other things that GW2 offers that you don’t find in other MMOs.
Talk about a storm in a tea cup. We’re talking about the first ten levels, which you now pass in about an hour. I think people need a bit more perspective.
Even if it’s two hours, in the life of your character, is should represent pretty much nothing.
Are we really complaining that we can’t get some potatos at low levels now?
You do know that the leveling changes are way more than the first 10 levels, right?
Also, much of the material that was removed, added much needed flavor to the NPE.
The issue you fixated on is small potatoes indeed.
On the other hand, there is no shortage of merchants selling…..
Bags.
Just Bags… : O
Ran one time and got lucky. Pyre dye.
Do the buffs for relocating stack?
There’s been so many times I’ve seen people complain that after they explored the first zone they couldn’t progress to the next one because they were underleveled.
Being underleveled was never an issue for me, but I also do a lot of different things like total zone completion/exploration before moving on, some WvW, gathering, crafting, Personal Stories and Skill Challenges.
So, yes, if you have a “timid” or unadventurous player, it could be an issue but I find it rather unlikely that they’d be “underleveled” if they were doing the Personal Story, Hearts and participating in Events, etc.
If one felt “underdeveloped” it was always ez to clear one of the other starter zones, or run a city completion.
The story lines made it so cool. An Asura in Queensdale, Charr in Metrica etc…
The fun was in the flavor. The world was so cool.
That’s what they took away here, and that’s why so many people are upset.
