Critical Impact [Crit]
Critical Impact [Crit]
I did the same thing when the game first came out!
But it’s wrong, yes, you must grind out levels in order to do your personal story. You can not level to 80 from PS alone.
PS is also broken up into 8 segments which each cover about 10 levels. So my advice would be, go explore and have fun till you hit lvl 10, then go do PS up to lvl 10, then go level up to 20 > do PS up to 20 etc etc.
Map completion, hunting skill point challenges, WvW, dailies, crafting are all good ways to earn XP. Technically, you earn 1 level per hour doing any activity.
Critical Impact [Crit]
Guardian FTW! I’m sure several classes would meet your criteria, but Guardian fits it best and will have the most longevity in the game (it’s a great class at lvl 80 for high end material and will always be welcome in group play).
It is a heavy so has heavy armor and a lot of blocks, making survivability no issue. Grab a great sword or hammer and go to down killing everything in sight. You’ll have a blast.
Critical Impact [Crit]
And not just karma armor, but all armor and weapons. I decided to scrap my accessories and get new ones.
I was allowed to salvage all of my accessories EXCEPT my spineguard back item. WTF, it’s only a rare item when the accessories were exotic. It just doesn’t make sense.
Critical Impact [Crit]
if that was the case ppl would get karma armour and salvage it for ectos.
or buy the cheap cultural armour and do the same.
Same applys to the rare weapons and offhands.
but i do agree if you put on a rune/sigil,then using the kit only gives the rune/sigil back.
Who cares if people do that? It’s not a threat to the economy. First off, cultural armor is lvl 35 and 60 and won’t give ecto, so ppl would have to buy t3 for 20 gold for maybe 3 ecto.
Karma armor is still expensive, ppl would spend 42K karma for 6 ecto max.
People ALREADY do this with dungeons, they run dungeons, buy rare armor, salvage into ecto.
Critical Impact [Crit]
This has been getting on my nerves for a while. And I just ran into a ridiculous chain of circumstances that really highlights how annoying this is.
After BUYING xstones (from the gem store) to get good stats and look for my mesmer armor, I then decide it’s time to get some good runes as well. I decided on Rune of Lyssa.
They are ~3 gold on the TP. I’m not super rich, but I did have a lot of karma jugs lying around, so I opted to buy the karma armor that comes with lyssa runes instead. I then BUY (from the gem store) a black lion salvage kit (100% guarantee to salvage upgrade components) and head to the vendor. Since I’m going to salvage the runes to put on my existing armor, I just buy 6 of the same piece of equipment.
Then, to my dismay, I cannot kittening salvage the armor! Why? I have no clue, you’re just not allowed to! And since I bought 6 of the same piece of gear, I have to buy another 5 pieces just to be able to transmute the runes onto my armor. So I spend more karma, then I have to go BUY (from the gem store) more xstones to transmute them. Now I have spent a crap ton of karma and gems just to do this, and in the end I’m left with 5 karma gear that are utterly useless. They can’t be sold, traded, salvaged or even merched, I have to just destroy them.
This is ridiculous. I don’t mind spending money to support anet, but this is just enraging. I could be wrong, but it comes across as if they want to make it hard to have fun and force us to spend more money to do anything.
All armor and weapons should be salvageable.
Critical Impact [Crit]
It seems like everyone unanimously agrees that zerker gear is the strongest for PvE (how fast can I mow down that mob). But I’m tired of zerkers!
When solo’ing or in a small dungeon group, can condition damage gear on my staff mesmer be just as viable as zerker gear? I have the trait that applies confusion on all shatters.
If condition damage gear isn’t viable on a mesmer, then who? And if zerkers gear and pwning champs is the pinnacle of a legendary PvE player, I hope we get more variety soon.
Even in high end dungeons it’s all about bringing more dmg to get through faster. Never about bringing someone spec’d with great team support or a rupter or anything. Yes the holy trinity is gone, and what do we have for it? Everyone is now just DPS
I miss the gw1 elite missions where you needed a variety of builds, working together. Remember farming for Volactic Spears? IoJ monks, perma assassin, BiP necros. Remember DoA? DwG rits, imbas, HB and UA monks. I have never played WoW or any other mmo. So I’m not saying we need to move backwards, I’m just saying, variety is fun.
In gw1 I had an 80 alt of all professions so I could full fill many rolls. But now in GW2 the only reason to roll an alt is to do DPS a different kind of way.
Critical Impact [Crit]
I run a shatter cat build for dungeons and WvW. Which gear is stronger, are they comparable. Typically I run zerker on all my toons, but I thought cond dmg would be a fun change up, but is it comparable?
Critical Impact [Crit]
While this is good news, I’m still eagerly looking forward to a timely expansion (hopefully cantha or elona!).
Critical Impact [Crit]
I bought some but can’t put them on my armor. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen people use these instead of Runes.
I thought maybe I couldn’t use them because I already had Runes on, so I bought a lvl 80 piece of armor with an unused upgrade slot, but I still couldn’t apply it. What gives?
Critical Impact [Crit]
I just tried the Sigil of Perception on my offhand but i can’t see any diference on my stats. It´s as if it won’t add to the critical hit chance value. Can anybody confirm this?
Knight GS and Szepter+Focus (with the Sigil of perception) will give me the same Crit Chance value
It doesn’t show up in the UI, but from lots of testing we know that it does in fact increase your proc chance.
Critical Impact [Crit]
Ah okay, so pending type of dmg and traits it could vary. I’m asking for my warrior who does mostly direct dmg with GS and Axe. It seemed like the 5% dmg bonus would always be greater, and the fact that it’s constant and can’t be stripped were two perks. Plus I swap faster than the internal cool down of Battle.
Critical Impact [Crit]
(edited by Beorn Saxon.4762)
To me it seems that Sigil of Force (5% more dmg) would always be better than Sigil of Battle (3 stacks of might = 105 power).
Has anyone done the calculations or testing for this?
Critical Impact [Crit]
I’m after Superior Runes of the Eagle. I know they can be bought on the TP, but can the be crafted or bought from NCP’s, where do they come from, are the loot drops only, what drops them?
Critical Impact [Crit]
War has been my main since launch and I am finally liking what I’m seeing

Critical Impact [Crit]
No offense, but the yell should be “Come at me!”
haha, I second this. Maybe even ‘Come at me, bro!’
This is a great idea, love this skill. It’s not as much a ‘tanking’ skill as it is a ‘ball them up so i can nuke them’ skill. Much like guardian GS skill 5. It’s like the opposite of fear (which is annoying when trying to ball up mobs).
Critical Impact [Crit]
It’s funny how the necro transformation elite is so viable, but no one ever uses the warrior, ele or engi transformation elites. Guardian transformations are 50/50. None of their elites are OMG yes! either.
Either the necro one is a ton better, or the necro just has poor other elite options.
Critical Impact [Crit]
I know I would love to revisit Cantha, the jade sea, the lore remains of the kurz and luxons as well as a Nightfall expansion. Joko would be an amazing expansion final boss <3 <3 <3
Critical Impact [Crit]
Can anyone weigh in on whether traditional/typical expansions from other MMO’s normally have less content than a GW1 campaign? Or whether the prices of expansions are generally the same as the original box price or if they’re priced lower?
Smaller than game and costs less money. When EotN came out, it was considered one of the best game expansions that year. Just compare EotN to Nightfall or Cantha and you have the difference.
Critical Impact [Crit]
@Beorn and @schizandra,
I also remember pre-launch that it would be expansions and not campaigns. Also the Canthan Expansion was planned (The reason Diviety Reach had a Canthan district) but was dropped do to NCSOFT saying something before release ( the reason we have the Great Collapse). I will also look for the information to post on here about the expansion comment.
Glad someone else remembers them saying that. I doubt I’ll be able to find the source if it was in a video. Search video takes infinite more time than searching text.
Critical Impact [Crit]
I’m not saying you’re making anything up Beorn, but could you find us a link to where a dev had said that? I just want to read it for myself.
I knew someone would ask for a link. It never fails. It was pre launch, it will take some digging…lots and lots of digging. But I’ll post it when I do. And sometimes my quote from memory fail me, so it’ll be good for me to re read as well.
Off the top of my head it was on a video of the Q&A during one of their pre launch game events they attended, like gamescon or something.

Things they have said (to my knowledge):
- expansions, yes
- campaigns, no (split player base/had to create tutorial areas x each campaign)
- increase lvl cap, yes
- mounts, no (to date)
- monk, no
- cantha, no (was scrapped due to cultural sensitivity , but popular demand may bring it back)
- new race, unknown
- new profession, unknown (early stages had 12 professions, but current 8 encompass all game play styles which leads me to believe no)
- time frame, longer than gw1 campaigns (which were 6-12 months apart. they want to focus on free live updates)
- denied claims of Q3/Q4 expansion release
- said a small team is working on it
But regardless of what they have said in the past, all of this may change based on popular demand. Anet wants to listen, they want to make money.
Critical Impact [Crit]
(edited by Beorn Saxon.4762)
Another reason was because new campaigns required them to waste time rebuilding pre existing stuff. For example, they had to build a new tutorial for each campaign, wasting dev time.
Critical Impact [Crit]
doom the game
lol, your past 20 posts have contained this sole statement. feeling a bit negative bro?
Critical Impact [Crit]
Devs already answered this before the game launched.
They said they will do expansions with GW2. They did not like how GW1 campaigns split the player base.
Critical Impact [Crit]
I’ve never been there before, but I did just find out about
The one you posted does not work for me either, so maybe mine will help for now.
Critical Impact [Crit]
From a recent interview with Robert Hrouda posted on March 3rd.
We’re looking into the dungeon instance owner problems, and developing solutions. It will take time to get right, and I can’t answer anything about dates and tech for that – it goes a bit above my head.

I just took a look at gw2armor.com and it looks like Tactical shows the most skin. You can also show some of your arms with Vigil armor.
Why have I not known about this website before??? Mucho grassy kitten

My male norn necro wants to show off his sweet tats. What’s the skimpiest outfit he could wear?
Critical Impact [Crit]
ASCALON CATACOMBS. I swear, there has got to be a hidden boss/chest/event somewhere inside the hidden room behind the Howler King. It’s to big and beautiful to have just been made for nothing.
Critical Impact [Crit]
Also, pet’s should have their own, separate heal skill.
Critical Impact [Crit]
protection is not the same as invul. I’ve seen silly pet’s stand and get one shotted while I evaded. Not cool. If you think it’s OP, then maybe while invul, they can not attack either.
Critical Impact [Crit]
That is my single suggestion to help pet’s out a little more and help them from getting nuked in dungeons.
Other mechanics should also be added, or numbers tweaked, in addition to this. But at a minimal this makes sense to me. We as players dodge big attacks or out of AoE to stay alive, so why shouldn’t pets be able to do the same.
Critical Impact [Crit]
Maybe I’m the only one, but when I log on I play whatever content I feel like playing and pretty soon I’ve already got 3/5ths of the daily done. Then I check to see what else I’m close to finishing and just do it.
The other day I run some dungeons for fun bc that’s what I like.
- kill vets, check
- complete a dungeon, check
- get a skill point, check
- dodge, check
- revive ppl, check
I will say this though, if you wait until the last hour to log on and do your daily then yes, it’s going to feel like a grind.

Necro is my last alt and I’m utterly clueless. What builds are good, which are not? Any must have skills or traits? What armor stats, cond prec toughness?
Typically I run dungeons and WvW and want to be able to blow stuff up (good damage).
Most of my toons run zerkers, so I was thinking a condition build would fun. Marks + siphoning also caught my eye, are those viable/strong?
Critical Impact [Crit]

There was never a queue for world events before guesting came out.
Critical Impact [Crit]
You have no solid proof to support yours -.-
Fact is, both factors play into this problem. Only devs know the real statistics. And the fact that have yet to deny it’s an issue may mean there is validity to the problem, and something they are looking in to.
Critical Impact [Crit]
I’ve seen that page and tried those codes, they don’t work for me
Critical Impact [Crit]
Can you add an item to the gem store that would allow me to transfer Commander status from one character to another?
I realized that anet doesnt want commander status account based because the community gets used to our name and that’s how we build our rep. But the truth is that as the game evolves and I have leveled all of my alts/professions I know longer use my Guardian for WvW. 90% of the time I use my Thief. I’d like to be able to make the thief my permanent commander, but it is really expensive to buy two commander books. Making a transfer item would help us players out, and would still limit ppl from spam swapping who on their account is commander.
Critical Impact [Crit]
what is the code to imbed an image in the thread, so the image appears and not the link? I use photobucket.com to host my images, but I can’t get them to work.
Critical Impact [Crit]
Because we are stuck in overflow while guests kill our Tequatl the Sunless. T.T
I’ve never gone out looking for these events, but due to the new loot drops, a buddy convinced me to come try one out. I was disappointed to be stuck in overflow while he killed Tequatl. I think natives should have main map priority, put guests in the overflow.

I like how you guys blocked the usernames, but I can see both of your account names in this thread! lol. funny and interesting idea. Maybe the color changes depending on how much World XP you have gained as a Commander.
Critical Impact [Crit]
This is so silly and frustrating. I run a lot of dungeons, and I’m collecting a lot of superior runes…but they are all soulbound, why???
So if that particular character has no use for it, I just have to throw it away. I can’t sell it, I can’t give it to an alt, I can’t even put it in the mystic forge?
Please, at least let me forge them for something more useful. All Rune and Sigil drops from dungeons should be unbound.
Critical Impact [Crit]
Yes please! ANet has had great success against bots. Please remove DR now. And please make story mode account based. Oh, and don’t make rune drops soulbound from dungeons, that is just lame.
Critical Impact [Crit]
This is a GREAT idea. Please do this. You can already see friendlies in WvW and PvP, why not PvE???
This is the situation I run into: I often see someone on the mini map getting downed/defeated. I start hauling tail to them to rez them > they have no clue how close I am and they use a WP -.-
If we could see friendlies we would know how close help is or is not. It doesn’t have to be the WHOLE map, but at least the /s area or something.
Critical Impact [Crit]
(edited by Beorn Saxon.4762)
I agree, either make SM account based (the achievements are) or offer full token rewards to SM. (Also, please get rid of dungeon leader status, it’s frustrating when someone leaves and the whole party get’s kicked.)
Critical Impact [Crit]
Yes pls, make them account bound. I don’t want to have to craft Sunrise 4 times.
Critical Impact [Crit]
Nice idea. I also like the idea of letting all professions swap weapon sets quickly while not in combat. Like a toggle button that you can preset with certain weapons and skills. GW1 had this. Often in dungeons we are swapping in and out based on the next section, and opening up UI all the time to manually do it is time consuming and frustrating.
Critical Impact [Crit]
First off, thank you for all the sweet daily updates!
Today when the monthly reset, a similar mechanic was used to check/uncheck what is viewable on the UI. However, the monthly and daily are using the same UI space, so you are unable to view all daily and monthly goals at one time. Can this be changed so they have separate UI areas?
EDIT: Adding some of the great ideas in the comments. Can we please track more than 5 daily tasks…like all of them for those of us that like the additional XP?
Can we also have a UI check list for general achievements so we can easily see what we were working when we log back on?
When the daily/monthly is completed can the UI automatically disappear vs having to manually go uncheck every box?
An on/off switch for personal story on the home UI.
