I would normally love this idea (Mirage was one of the 2 specs that I didnt care for but reaaaaaally surprised me last weekend to the point I may change my main WvW toons), however I frigging LOVE that one that moves your clones around that target and condi them up.

But how is the current 1v1 balance? Again post HoT it was pretty good. I mean sure there were a few builds that played themselves and needed to be buried and never spoken off again (PU condi mes, condi thief, cele ele etc). But After HoT it felt like there were so many builds that you really couldn’t lose when running, that it became sort of unplayable. Not to mention that to put yourself on somewhat of an even playing field, you HAD to run the new elite trait line.

Any thoughts, has the situation improved?

1v1 is severly declining. Lots of “roamers” are now groups of 3-5 to 10 ppl.

Build diversity has also severly declined. The builds you’re quoting have totally vanished from my game experience.

Now, about the elite traitline, I’m mixed feelings. Some months ago, I would have said it’s compulsory. Those last weeks, I’m seeing more and more core specs, so I suppose the meta is changing.

Im asking not because i expect people to solo roam, as that was rare even when I used to do it, im asking because back when builds were (somewhat) balanced around 1v1, a good roamer could pull off a 2v1 or 3v1 against somewhat competent players. But after 1v1 balance went out the window, it became essentially impossible to win outnumbered fights. a lone thief against 2 dragon hunters and a longbow ranger (post LB buff) i think not haha. Whilst pre HoT 2 guardians and a ranger was very possible to beat if you didn’t slip up.

I personally still see d/p venoms condi daredevils (and saw a ghost-ish venom DD as well…he didnt like having condis on him tho)

Scourge has less defenses and worse disengage than Reaper, and reaper was already considered a glass cannon.

Also Scourge has enormous trouble dealing with ranged attackers. It’s got a lot of melee hate though.

I wasn’t hyped for deadeye as the damage didnt look real enough for me but kitten. Even if they cut that by 50%, id still go for it

Its a perfect idea imo as there are really good min/maxers and/or thoerycrafters out there who can find exploits in the new classes.If there was also a beta testing server, PvP and WvW would be a wasteland for the 3 days (for most servers anyway).

Complain all you want, as you have the right to, however its the best way to do it and keep the game modes active at the same time.

To answer all the questions:

1.) No other thief (just capped a camp, saw a druid, stealthed and denied stealth). If the chicken’s damage doesnt show, then that can be the only explanation I can think of.

2.) I traited for pulm impact, but the camp it happened in was flipped about 2 minutes(ish) when this happened

3.) No dead dollys on the ground at this point. The vid on twitch just expired yesterday so next time it happens ill clip it asap.

4.) Invisible areas huh? Maybe I hit one at SEC beside the supplyhut.

I have been maining thief for probably 9ish months now in WvW (not long), and I have noticed something time and time again. What reminded me this time was I was watching one of my streams and noticed something wrong.

From time to time, if I am D/P combo stealthing, I will break out of it while heartseekering into my field. I took a look closely and my most recent one it was near an ambient (chicken) however there was no damage indication (nothing on screen to indicate I hot something for 6 digit damage). I never checked my combat log at the time, however I remember this happening when there was nothing around.

Is there anyone else noticing this or am i batcrap crazy?

I can do the same with my build. Only things I use are Steal, Precision siggy, and the physical heal. If I really want to troll a group ill add some shadow shots and actually use my shadow step.

Its fun until people actually learn and either move on or who know when to CC me (which is why I tend to save my shadow step)

Cant watch the vid due to me being at work, however if it was anything like my build that I ran pre HoT and again after scrapper;s gyros were nerfed (no daze on gyro explosion), this is a painful build.

Easily kitable and not enough projectile blocks for the amount of ranged sustain out there.

P/P was always my fav set up for engi (even during the P/S meta way back when).

Ive run 3 builds without trickery…..literally….I just started GW2 earlier this year and its rare for me to switch builds soooooo……

Please share those builds. I’ve tried running a few builds without the extra init and it was a painful experience every time. Especially in WvW.

I tried myself and the damage was insane (replacing Tr with CS), however without the extra init and heal on steal, it was def not as easy.

I am assuming you fed both catmanders (one in Alpine with Gift of Battle and other in Desert with a can of Spicy Meat Chili).

I am not entirely sure but I thought you had to have them both before they would appear in the home instance. I checked the wiki and it doesn’t have anything in regards to that. Dulfy had comments on her page from some who only had one catmander and nothing was appearing in the home instance. Evidently it was verified that you need both for them to appear as they fight each other in zergs.

It doesnt stop condi damage. Elixir S is kitten in WvW because it will get you killed unless its only power builds you fight.

Doesn’t cleanse existing condis.

If specced for it, it will cleanse one due t the fact its still an elixir.

I started running this build (some asc, some exo stats until I get my full asc) and I love it.

Still getting used to atunement swapping, however the survivability is really good, condi cleanses are great and mobility isn’t that bad. I’m not that good yet but I feel like I am getting there.

In wvw most of the thieves I have encounter do not use sword. Yea IF they spec that way that can lockdown me down at times. Its the same as me doing a point blank phoenix combo to delete an enemy it can happen.

The thieves I mostly encounter tend be at half health without me doing much to them. Not everyone in wvw uses the same gear like spvp. It just feels like their are more new players in wvw nowadays.

Yea its arcane blast. I just confused it was arcane missiles from wow since it a similar projectile effect. For consumable I use any I have at the time. I do not buy a specific type I just make sure I craft something useful: truffle steak, bowl of roasted lotus root, tin fruitcake or the damage reduction mussel foods.

All aura traits: air 1-3-2, water 1-2-1, tempest 3-2-3. I start fights in earth attunement for that earth-air combo and in case I need an immediate defense. Earth has 3 options for defense at the start of a fight, overload for stability/reflect/immob, magnetic wave for cleanse/reflect or obsidian flesh 3s immune. I have been using glyph of elemental harmony lately. Its the best solo heal and can give protection or regen if attuned correctly (try not to use it in fire/air).

Never thought about that heal…I like that you use non meta. Anything specific for elite (If I remember right, I think you has FGS?)

If you are in t4 and were that thief I killed multiple times around north camp. Then that was probably me. Most thieves are not an issue with this build. Reapers are still scissor vs paper with this build. Was finishing you with comet into a air combo, gale into phoenix combo, or both just to lock you down when you were low.

Its an Scepter/Focus build: Air/Water/Tempest, celestial armor, runes of the trooper, marauder/berserker everything else. The utilities I was using were feel the burn, aftershock, and arcane missiles. With the arcane missile ammo change has made killing runners easier. Focus has cc/damage avoidance but less healing compared to other offhand, so its harder to recover when low. It has 3 reflects: overload earth, magnetic wave and aftershock. Magnetic wave can cleanse 3 conditions too, so use it for reflect or condition removal. Obsidian Flesh is the uh oh button so its best to have a heal ready after that or use it for stomps.

I swap back to scepter after air aa was buffed a bit. It does slightly less damage than dagger when fully charged. Instead of not being able to compare to dagger aa even when using multiple skills. At times I want more damage so I am considering changing my gear to marauders but with the xpac I should wait a bit.

Your siggy tells me you are the one (TC). You were the only tempest I have had consistent issues with (tried to find a weakness, but I believe I dont really have a proper way to exploit it).

I really hope I catch you again sometime. Would love to duel you to better my teefing skill.

Also, thanks for the build/rotation. My ele hasn’t been used since I got tempest, and been sporadically looking for a good non meta build but none I liked so I appreciate it.

Had some lag this morning. Fairly empty BL tho. ME and a pug went to 2v3, he died but I was still going strong. Downed a reaper (already about to focus chrono once I stomped nec) D/P stealthed when the lag spike hit. May have gone through the field once but too much time has lagged through for me to stealth stomp and I got downed because of it.

Its not a game breaking item, however it is a simple QoL change that a lot of people wouldn’t mind having.

Burn guard is a 1 trick pony. I played it in PvP for months and i quickly rose to plat.

Before this, I haven’t touched my guard since I got DH about a month after HoT went live.

Gotta time your clears/transfers.

Easy to pick up, easy to win team fights. (I have recently stopped playing it and focused on another class)

In other words…this request was in the right place at the right time

This morning I have fought a really skilled tempest in WvW. I dont remember what server they were from (or pairing I guess), however your rotations were spot on. I typically like to focus your class due to the AoE power you bring, and 99% I don’t lose, however you have proven your abilities as a tempest and I /bow to you good sir and/or madam.

Those auras, the projectile hate, the CC, the ranged air swap bursts were great. I thought I was in for another easy fight but you proved that wrong. My ele was my first class I played, and the one I used the most when I created 8 toons. When I finally found a rotation I liked and worked, it was nerfed. Same thing happened again so I hung up my ele. Hopefully I can figure out your build so I can run it and love my ele again

Yes, its nerfed into oblivion and considering that Warrior was already the least used class in high level play, anyone who says this was warranted or a “decent patch” is delusional.

Decent patch. I remember when I mained my war/berserker, watching my class being Anet’s favorite child, all “balances” were very easy on us compared to the other classes.

I got bored of how easy I had it (I was not pro by any standards) so I switched. Granted soem balances were not warranted (like the shield bash for instance), however overall it is what I wish we got when I played it. Very recently I started to pick it back up again. Very rocky start (rusty af) but now actual skill is required to beat some classes. Most fun I have had on it in a while.

So after doing math, I found CS is better for quick power bursts from stealth due to Hidden Killer, however if you don’t stealth often enough, DA reigns DPS supreme.

Unfortunately I do not know how long Hidden Killer lingers for, however the overall damage output between DA and CS shows DA as more reliable. Where I take Revealed Training myself, the damage difference pulls a bit more in DA’s favor overall.

Both traitlines have great abilities that can greatly help

DA = heal on steal, steal does damage, poison on steal and extra damage on conditioned enemies

CS = Extra fero means more damage, heal when you crit (if you choose that) or guaranteed crits from stealth and extra crit chance outside stealth

With my playstyle, what DA brings is better than what CS does, although that initial BS burst is better with CS, what happens after (if they didnt down) DA is a bit better for the after fight.

Math was based on Full Marauder stats, Scholar runes and no food to make it as fair as possible. Also other traits were used in these trait lines, however this is based on max DPS. Obv different stat sets will make this vary, and playstyle will make a difference as well, however looking at every aspect and what each brings for every situation, DA provides a bit better overall damage/utility the longer the fight goes.

I really think the biggest loss out of DA is the poison on steal specifically if a given build has no other poison access. That said with my p/p staff build, CS is a no brainer as in that one I take IP and IP is so functional in that build.

I do not PvP but in WvW IP makes a world of difference. You can live long enough to get that damage in.

Damage wise (this is where the math nerd comes out of me), it seems that DA is still better than CS (math was used using full marauder and full zerk). CS does offer some nice sustain and decent pressure if you are using pistols (which I am…im currently doing the math to see if the CS line is stronger (again damage wise) when using pistols over DA.)

Just in case that isn’t clear, when you take all these slow, telegraphed moves that you need to hit for condi clear and sustain, and to ramp up damage…

And you nerf all of them by 66%…. Power Berserker was already struggling against anyone with half a brain to dodge roll.

So the primal burst damage is treated as T1 instead of 3?

There are several factors to consider here other than fuglyness. Many of our players have pre-existing vision problems up to an including poor or aging eyesight or even color blindness.

Coming from a background designing HMI sytems for process automation, I can tell you there are a plethora of different opinions, vision needs and safety factors to consider in these situations, and it’s worse when you’re “upgrading” an existing system. It may seem as simple as draw and make it visually appealing, but it’s not.

Now, the designers in this case couldn’t do anything about the existing background of the displays (ie BLs), but in order to to add this new functionality they had to consider who all would be looking at it and what vision challenges those operators bring to the table.

TLDR; The thickness of the border lines will seem overwhelming to a normal sighted person, add in the color and you have fugly and busy. But, if they thinned the lines and kept the existing team colors, our players with vision problems may find it difficult to spot problem areas.

If there was an option to make it thin or thick, that should work for everyone.

First of all I think you are an outlier as far as how fast you can get GoB. But regardless, you are still talking a component of a legendary weapon for a home instance cat. That’s way too much. Think of the gold value of that gift of battle.

I am assuming you are referring to me, however a liar I am not (its easier to remember stuff when you are telling the truth lol). Given a good 8-9ish days worth of playing (maybe 2.5ish hours each session) I have cleared the reward track for it (hense why I kept doing it another 7-8 times lol).

If it will appease you, I will do another run (after my current track), record the # of hours it took me and let you know.

I was dual maining into power reaper. Those are honestly really the only two builds I enjoy.

The latter this patch basically got removed from the game, so yeah. I’ve run pretty much every possible build in the game and prior to yesterday I only really enjoyed at most three of them. I’d rather actually just not play than adapt at this point because there’s actually nothing left to adapt to.

With all changes, there is always something different to adapt to, however your refusal to acknowledge this, already indicates you don’t care either way and maybe you just need a break.

Hell, I went through every adaptations twice before I opened my eyes to thief. Your mentality to want/need to adapt plays a big part. If you are not mentally ready, you will continue to feel the same way you do.

If Anet cared at all about their CUSTOMER’S opinion then we would see some kind of respond. In every profession forum there are people that have severe issues with this patch and they’ve yet to respond even once….they don’t care what we think. If they did then maybe they would act like adults and actually communicate.

With the amount of players there are, just think there’s also a lot of requests from the CUSTOMERS, some valid, some not. Everything takes time, patience is a virtue. This patch JUST came out. Enjoy some bacon and just wait
