Now “casuals” will call for the removal of gw2efficiency…………..
See I’m in a casual raiding guild, I get maybe an hour sometimes two of play time every other day, I make it into raids since I found a guild that has a flexible play/raid schedule I didn’t start raiding till 2 weeks ago. It just perplexes me of all the QQ posts on the forums that pop up daily About requirements and such.
If it is on EU server, can you maybe invite me there?
Sadly NA
90% of thread being ragey? Depends what sub-forum you’re at (a moment of silence for our thief broski’s).
If you’re looking to rage on this thread? Congrats, you did it! Grab the popcorn and watch the commentary roll in. My advice? Add something constructive. Rather than rage how about adding a note or two about what makes your guild successful or even offer advice to other who may be in the same boat. PUG’s lying about they qualifications? That’s been going on since the beginning of times, so we’re not getting anything new out of your rant.
If you read the post the problem isn’t the lying the problem is the people crying/complaining about being forced to meet requirements when no one is forcing them to do anything, I will go through and rephrase it to get that point across more clearly I guess.
Could be considered Ragey I guess but that is what 90% of the threads are right?
I
Always was never a fan of Jerry Seinfeld never thought he was funny.

Why do “Casuals” come to the forums complaining about be forced to meet requirements asked by PuG groups? No one is forcing them to group with the group that are looking for specific requirements, if a group has requirements that you don’t agree with why try to join them by lying and risk being discriminated against because of it?
All that is required of you is to learn the mechanics of the fights( it takes about 10 minutes tops to view videos that are posted to help players learn the fights) , have exotics as a minimum and the ability to work with others and know your class/role.
I have seen quite a few “Casuals” spout off ways to lie to get in these groups, even though they say they hate their playstyle and players that impose requirements.
There are multiple reasonable options before them to get into groups that have similar views as them.
1. Make your own group for Raids how you want.
2. Join a casual raiding guild. They exist and they clear the content. It can take sometime, (I found the guild I raid with by being a pug and they asked me to raid with them whenever I was on no set raid times very casual friendly with very few requirements).
3.be willing to take advice and make compromises to accomplish your goal at completing raids.
4. Find a PuG without requirements.
5.Prioritize your time spent in game attempt to clear one boss each time you log on if you have limited time.
And last but not least
6. Raids are not for everyone, just like pvp and WvW aren’t for everyone, take pleasure where you can.
If you find any of those suggestions offensive or unreasonable maybe you have to look in a mirror at yourself and decide if Raiding is worth it or if complaining about it is all your going to do.
TL:Dr
Anet is not Forcing requirements on you, it’s not their issue.
Players aren’t forcing requirements on you, it’s your choice to join the group and to meet their requirements if you so choose.
It takes a little bit of effort on your part to compromise to make your goals, and to accomplish them.
You can make your own group with your playstyle in mind.

I run SD so If the put Dagger and staff back to where they were /should be I would be fine, the Sword AA did need the love so if they need that he’ll will be raised
But yes I agree and most Thieves do the AA buff to dagger and staff was ridiculous and should not have been implemented but we won’t say no to a buff
If you are facing two burst class you should not win unless you outs kill both by a lot. Just common sense, and the horrendous Bunker meta allowed player to 1v3 which was even worse so yeah they fixed the horrendous Bunker meta that was everywhere.
…Also any 2v1 scenario is going to be death if it’s against half skilled thieves.
It wasn’t before.
Because horrendous Bunker meta
Sounds like people don’t run Stun breaks….also if you are 2v1 against a burst class you should melt, thieves if you sneeze at them they die pretty fast. Yeah it can be annoying but you are being overly dramatic.
Oh btw it was a Necro main trying to claim that Thief Hardcounter revs I was just coming here to see how you guys viewed it. Thanks for the input
It depends on your build and playstyle, I prefer UC do to the ridiculous amounts of Soft cc flying around, if you are playing D/P I would say BD for more burst/stealth
Melt for 5 seconds. Reaper/thief/enj can survive much longer. Rev just die from 10 stacks of bleeding/poison.
How rev make dmg, if he dead all time against any clever foe?
Or gold rule “dead can’t dmging” there doesn’t work?
Bahahaha thieves last more than 5 Seconds? With those conditions thieves melt, thy have no sustain. So I have no idea what your talking about yes thieves can disengage but they rely on bursting classes down not sitting and fighting. Engines and reapers have sustain and can fight, Reapers also virtually hard counter Revenant so there’s that.
Depends on build and what pve content you are going for.
So far, based on testing and asking PvP guildies it seems we mostly agree on the following;
S tier – Condi Reaper, Daredevil, Power Scrapper, Power Rev
A Tier – Power Druid, DH, Condi Rev
B Tier (this one is more variable) – Berserker (some of them say they are crap), Power Reaper, Shout Druid.
Z Tier – Tempest, Chrono.
Power Rev can’t survive under focus of 2 bodies. Just dying from condies very fast…
The Bunker meta is over if you are being focused 2v1 you should lose on any class.
at pvp no duels, so my survivability should be randomed, except thieves/reapers/enj?
Make tanky/heal/sup enj? that can easy survive under 2 bodies, so why rev can’t so that? Cos withous stunbreaks and condy cleanens he’s a trash…
Power rev isn’t a Tanky spec that’s a dps spec it Should melt under two bodies. Or did you not read he said Power Rev?

Either or they are both very competitive Staff could provide more dps overall with the right build
For dps….. Why wouldn’t you use it?
I was never a fan of D/P play style, and I am just testing out builds that fit my play style.
Ah understandable.
I know tonight I will be posting on my thread for S/D but taking a more sustain approach which should benefit more from pack runes vs scholar but we will see when I actually get to test.
Yeah this could be true that’s how I took it was all passive damage boosts to not get damage from other sources
I believe that is pure AA chains for each weapon set
The only reasoning they gave for AA dos increase was Anet wanting Thief to Use Initiative for its defenses instead of purely offense. And as stated the build you used to make the 6k damage the majority of Thief Mains would never use since Trickery is Mandatory. Yes you can achieve the 6k dps but to do so. You have to give up any survivability Utilities and a virtually required trait line. Granted Staff and Dagger did not need the AA dmg buff to begin with, only Sword AA needed the work so it could be viable alongside Dagger and staff. But in Anet fashion they botched the balance.
They botched it back in June – and only realized there’s a bunker meta when watching 2 ESL teams unable to kill each other 1 month ago – although it already started in June.
I had a heated argument with one of my buddies today – he’s usually a D/D thief and switched to staff. Staff itself to me is like everything else: evades give you a broad band of being able to screw up. The other classes with their invulnerabilities and passives have the same = all of them are just smashing buttons and sometimes land a hit – to them it’s balanced.
Anyway – what defensives does a thief have? When it comes to dagger mainhand we’ve got the evolutionary all around winner: D/P. D/D still can’t land a hit = no CnD = no defense. You can argue about Basilisk Venom – haven’t tried yet.
Others have already pointed out that sword has got more utility and cleave. But maybe their AA damage will be buffed in half a year.
I bet though that the only sets that are being played then are D/P and Staff – that will probably stay like that until the end of this game.
The main defense that I was referring to with the current AoE /Cleave spam in current meta is to use SB and disengage (I am one of the few that have stuck with S/D through almost everything so my FS is a defensive utility)and now with Staff its defense is tied to its offense so I don’t know why they buffed its damage , in regards to Initiative conservation, now defensive utilities are Blinding Powder, Shadowstep and BD or SoA.
I was just stating the reason I remember Anet Devs saying why they buffed Dagger and Staff AA damage. When only Sword need the rework to due clunky mechanics
The next few days I am going to be testing a few different builds using Acrobatics, mostly since S/D is by far my favorite weapon set since launch, but here is the basis of the build so far. Any input is appreciated.
The previous build was not providing enough damage, causing the fights to draw out and make me over extend, next I will be trying this out.

That’s what I thought, but I have had some people that don’t main Rev saying that Thieves Hardcountered you but I wasn’t seeing it.
He made that ridiculous thread.
Much needed now to get this stickies in all forums and the pvp one specifically, even though in Pvp Thieves didn’t need AA dps increase I won’t look a gift horse in the mouth since I give two weeks before nerfs from all the complaints.
And if the Thief stays to engage you he is going to be on point which means on your Marks which means you Condi bombed the Thief……… Revelation
I don’t know. Thief forums are probably worst possible place, you guys are so kittening terrible at the game.
Thief was fine even before balance patch, meta was bit too tanky but thief did not need damage buffs.
Currently, thief is broken in my opinion.
We never asked for Damage buff we asked for sustain, Anet in their infinite wisdom gave us Damage buff instead. Sad really 90% of Thieves will agree we did not need a damage buff.
Do you guys feel hardcountered by Thieves and if so why? Just looking for some insight.
Everything is equalized your pve gear has no meaning in pvp and most pve specs will not function as they do in pvp
As a side point contender, let’s see now the role of thief is decap and +1. Ok by you logic thief should always be able to decap nomatter what.
Now where does your chill being cleansed in this an issue? Is it because the thief is able to get away from your Condi bomb? Now UC does cause the thief in most cases to Dash off of a point almost every time allowing you to attack from range, which Necro has superior range pressure compared to Thieves.
Now if the Thief is disengaging completely you did your part he ran, if he stays to fight most Necros Condi bomb the point/thief causing them to have to disengage due to measly Condi cleansing as well as puny Health pool. yes you can be outplayed m, no you are not nullified.
Necros can essentially double their Health pool with their shroud to buy themselves time till teammates arrive. Now I am no master of Necro but from what I have seen and the little I have played to learn how the class operates you are not nullified, and if still you feel that way you can corrupt all the swiftness and vigor Thieves give themselves into Cripple and Weakness, I guess you may be upset that Thieves don’t give themselves any consistent Boons to corrupt besides those two, that could be why you feel Thieves Nullify Necro. Joking aside.
(edited by BlaqueFyre.5678)
More thief QQ if it’s not the damage it Unhindered Combatant, it’s amusing to say the least.
Or Revenant or Scrapper. Thieves don’t hard counter pretty much any class, you are just upset that they can disengage from your Necro chill spam , it sounds like. .
Thieves doesn’t counter Revenants? Okay sure.
I’m not upset they can disengage from Necro’s chill. I’m upset they nullify the class.
How do they nullify the class? Explain that.
You say thieves weren’t trash tier but you never experienced the blatant harassment thrown at thieves in every match, by their own team I have had people ask before a Match even starts due to me not rerolling on another character, now a skilled thief could still do well in season 1 yes but that was relying on knowing the class and out playing any opposition.
pretty much this bit says it all average thief players are nothing more than bandwagoners running cheesebuilds that required no skill and you guys rather have everyone else penalized than actually get good.
Sorry I have been a Thief main since launch, sorry no bandwagon here.
Ill tell you what I don’t like. Basicly every tanky option for an Amulet removed the same patch thieves turned into gods.
Also, Unhindered Combatant nerf. (ICD on condi clear)
A chilled thief is a dead thief. We rely on mobility and chill would just be a hard counter to us. That’s not balance. Dash is balanced. Necros chill us so we waste a dodge which means they can get a few hits on us. Cuz after all, thief is still as tough as wet paper.
Doesn’t change the fact that Thieves hard counter pretty much every single class atm except for Druids and Dragonhunters.
A 3-5 sec ICD on Chill clear would not be pushing it.
Also, remember that the counter to dodges are Immobs, which .. well is not a thing anymore. They’re unstoppable 1v1 unless your one of the two classes mentioned above.
Or Revenant or Scrapper. Thieves don’t hard counter pretty much any class, you are just upset that they can disengage from your Necro chill spam , it sounds like. Let’s see between having to dodge attacks and dodge to clear soft cc energy regenerates at 5%-8.75% a second which equates to 2.5- 4.375 energy a second to a max of 50 energy which would mean between 20 secs or 11.32 secs to reach 50 energy outside of blowing any utilities or heals to get more energy faster, and this is under the assumptions all thieves run UC because right now it’s a toss up between UC for better survivability and BD for higher burst.
It has a built in cd already, in the form of Energy, thief game play is all about resource management, energy and Initiative are thieves resources, both have to be use offensively or defensively. Now with the amount of Soft CC being thrown around makes this Trait in line with the current Meta. Now of soft cc was not all that prevalent yes it would be Op but as the case stands it is not. Every class has Passives that keep their class afloat, thieves have almost none, this is an active trait not a passive one, the thief has to decide to use a dodge that could be saved for avoiding a burst or used to get away.
And then there is the glaring bug that this trait does to thieves if a thief tries to use a Shadowstep i.e. From shadow step or Infiltraitor Arrow they are rooted in place without having moved at all until they dodge again.
Thieves were trash due to the amount of sustain every other class had as well as all of the AoE/cleave spam mixed with the CC. A good Necro can keep perma chill on almost any class, even thieves with this trait because a thief won’t dodge just to cleanse your chill. They have more important things to save those dodges for especially if trying to fight over a point.
Unhindered combatant already has a cD it’s called needing Energy to use it, also with the amount of Soft cc like chill, cripple, immob flying around its actually balanced, but if you want it to have a icd then give us sustain to actually stay and fight on point in the cc/AoE spam fest. Or is balance not what you want?
You surpassed thieves with the Bunker meta you weren’t on par, but you didn’t deserve the huge nerf you got. Bunker Mesmer should still be a viable thing if they actually tried to balance, it fits the amount of utilities you could bring to the table but Anet screwed it up, I love having Mes in Meta they are the most interesting fights when between thieves.
Let it drop random bombs while patrolling the map bahahaha
Double click the mastery in the pane to spend a mastery point
Nah us Thieves asked for sustain buffs not damage, Anet spits in our face and laughs giving damage but we still get hit as if we are wet paper bags. Idk why Mesmers got nerfed as hard it’s stupid, the quickness Rez/stomp was a big enough nerf, in itself with the amulets removed as well. I think Anet Devs just don’t have and finesse with Balance
Get a twitch streamer to complain next day they will fix it.
Not a buff they moved it from the Acro trait line
it’s more than what a lot of other classes are getting, so it’s a buff. Stop trying to downplay this, you know nerf is incoming.
How is it a buff if Thieves had it in another trait? They just moved it to SA instead of Acro. Hmmm interesting
problem with pvp is with spd atm,you cant have one slow moving char and other with 5 blinks and max spd + invs
its just that.
each class has strengths and weaknesses, Thief is the master of mobility, and supposedly stealth in this game designed to do massive burst damage, but they get shredded like wet paperbags due to all the AoE/cleave in game. Other classes rely on passive defenses while Thief relies on pure active defense. Hardly any boon access.
well i hope it get nerfed, bcs its soooo bad,you cant put on invis char best mobility + spd.
its just bad desing,im sure they will get that and nerf thief back to where he was.
This trait does not get used and it has been in the game for a long time , has it caused any issues?? You are only complaining now because you view it as a buff to Thief yet it’s has been in the game in an unused trait line and now being moved to another unused trait line, that won’t see any use still, this is another call for nerfs on Thief just because.
