My answer is PUG’s are stupid
/thread
Creating your own post without reqs often works, but you still get dongs rather frequently. Running with friends/guildies is the way to go, even if you have to low-man :P
Everyone is a PUG to someone else.
I will buy – at any gem costs – Anet’s ‘Ortho weed killer’ back piece. Very useful for eliminating the boring twigs from existence.
Perhaps there are not a comparable number of wvw players on the server to show up to make a difference in the disparity. I know from what I have seen in my own guild this influences people who do enjoy wvw to feel disinclined to join in for the week.
…….
But do tell – how would you like the matches to be arranged? Without some radical overhaul where servers are combined or red/green/blue factions created – meaning keeping the essential shape of the servers as they are now – how would YOU like to see the matchups determined?
And bear in mind that nobody picks these, so please describe something that can be coded rather than one based on feeling.
To start with, let T2 servers rotate with T1. The glicko disparity between #4 and #3 is less than it is with YB and SBI. Yet, T1 remains locked.
There have been lots of suggestions over the years about addressing population imbalances, but nothing of any value has been tried.
I’m on SBI. I play WvW a fair amount (been in the gold ranks for a bit); however, the things that are fun, even fights, roaming, taking an occasional objective, is totally blown out of the water when there are swarms of T2 members salivating to attack the few of us out there. Unless you join a zerg (ugh) or have a fair sized guild group, it gets old real fast getting swamped over and over. Most of us play for fun and the moment that stops, we’re not going to continue.
Yeah, its probably not fun for some YB either. But, having been on the other side of the swarm fest on occasion, I know which one gets older faster.
It’s already been stated by a Dev that they would like to add it. So, ah, tough luck but it’s gonna happen.
They were not going to stick to the living story and not make an expansion too.
I hope it never arrives.
It failed a lot more than it succeeded. It felt disjointed. It felt forced (I don’t like most of the biconics, but I can’t dump them). Scarlet was poorly presented and as interesting as an evaporating puddle.
Once in a while a LS release was fun – Marionette, Battle for LA & Glint’s Lair come to mind. But, they were sadly few and far between.
The same answer as the dozens and dozens of threads have asked – No
I’ll continue to say I don’t want it.
As its something that isn’t in the game now, I’d rather they spend their energies adding things I want instead of things you want. Now we’re all pushing for our selfish desires.
Can't play on Windows 8.1 (more inside..)

Make sure you’re virus software isn’t killing the process – either disable it (just long enough to try running GW2) or ensure there is an exception for it.
Take a look at Yak Slapper and suddenly the Giant killing thing isn’t so bad…..
But yeah, Giant slayer is out of line with the other achievements in that category.
We bought a new GW2 account over the last weekend and, holy cow! The NPE is just awful for anyone who already knows how the game is played. All this level gating and hand holding is a huge pain.
I really wish there was some way to let me be treated as an experienced player though the account itself is new.
A thief should have to avoid your attacks to stay stealthed. Or at least have a better indication that u have hit something.
I concur – hop into stealth, but if contact is made, either the stealth is removed or at least a damage indicator is shown. Its invisibility not intangibility.
It sure did. Tried several variations, but no dice.
Bought a new account for my wife. I went to register it as a new account. Followed the directions – but clicking ‘next’ on step 2 simply bounces back to the step 2 screen screen with the information retained except with the password blanked out.
Yes, the password is unique and follows the rules etc.
The email address I am using is not the one her current account is on. The only unique thing about it, however, is the name on the email. ie HERNAME@gmail and HERNAME@hotmail where HERNAME is the same. (note, this is not the emails accounts actual name).
When I purchased the account, I bought it with her existing accounts email address.

The new profession sounds great, but I wish we had a new race to play.
Any one of season 2’s stories was ok to great by themselves, but the entire set felt disjointed.
I had fun playing it for the most part, so it was a lot better than season one to me.
The worst part of the whole LS are those five nimrods we’re forced to like that I would have sent packing the first time we crossed paths. Rox may be the only exception – there is a tiny spark of potential in that character.
If you are on TC and don’t see more than 5-10 people on at any given point you may be doing something wrong. (That goes for T1 in general.)
Eight hours ago, TC capped BGBL Bay, Hills and Garri with exactly 6 people. I was in the map, with 2 more people. And that was it.
Then you should be moving out of T1 as soon as possible and let a more active WvW server take your place.
Mad King Thorn. Ossa’s voice was supply by the same man who did Mad King Thorn, I believe… which in turn, unfortunately makes me have a hard time taking anything Ossa says seriously.
sorry…
Yeah, I noticed that’s it was the same voice too. A bit disconcerting to hear it and not think of the mad king.
It was a good ending.
The only down side is that ANet is still enamored with the darn twigs. twig twig twig twig It would be nice if the Charr or Norn or, heaven forbid, humans were the hub of the story instead of the boring twigs.
Problem is all the locust style leechers in SW – a totally disgusting behaviour that is even rewarded by ANet.
The hit and run looters are legion. The sad part is, some of the people who cry the loudest in map chat about failing to kill all four bosses at the breach are those leechers.
What do you think?
What do I think? I think we haven’t gotten any new classes, very little new explorable area (though I do like what we were able to get) and no new weapon skills or even alternate usable weapons for the classes we have.
They still making that rubbish?
I’ll leave the ‘rubbish’ chalked up to your opinion (though I tend to agree). But, yes, they’re committed to this path.
Wow.
Just wow.
If dueling was added, I’d ignore it. As for them doing it – I’d rather they spend their time doing just about anything else.
If only there were a filter we could apply to the incoming chats (like the one Anet already has in place for certain ‘swear’ words) that’s we could put our own key words in. It wouldn’t take long to vastly reduce that whisper spam.
Its a mode that I do not miss.
However, there are a few people who salivate over the prospect of getting it, so I hope it shows up for them.
The Flameseeker Prophecies
Twilight
Incinerator
Having four T2 wvwvw population servers really plays havoc with T3 and T4 level ones.
Predicting that 3% chance of seeing DB (350+ glick points ahead of us) is going to come to fruition again. That’ll be fun!
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
valid reason? i don’t want to lol
That’s the only reason necessary.
May 2015 be the year you see some dreams come true!
Anet – masters of hyperbole.
GMs in the game looking to take out the hackers.
Visible or not, its nice to be reminded, from time to time, that this is happening. Thanks!
The Karma train fever got to someone in charge.
I don’t know who the people are that Anet uses as a focus group or for alpha testing, but I think they might want to add a few non K-trainers or at least include a few people who spend most of their time scouting.
The more I play without those swords, the more annoying it has become.
Its a PvP zone using PVE gear, buffs, etc. Anyone who derides you inappropriately should be reported using the in game tools.
Once in a while, I enjoy popping arrow carts and slaughtering the uplevels (or anyone else who doesn’t realize they shouldn’t sit in a hail of arrows) trying to take various locals in EOTM . The tears of the cry-babies makes the activity even more entertaining.
I don’t have a problem with the new system as far as how it works. The thing that disappoints me is that they could have left the prior thing alone and used the development efforts to offer something new instead of making an unneeded change.
The NPE change, this one and a few others looks to be little more than a developers pet project instead of something that players were looking to get.
My early review is that I don’t like the change. That could change down the road but usually the initial impression is the one that stays.
It’s seems like a bad idea to me to have so few options when including something that’s on an event timer. Otherwise, the change makes it easier for AP collection. I still prefer the prior method, but as changes go, this is rather benign.
DeWolfe — I’m sorry you’re inconvenienced by this situation, but honestly, it’s the best overall. The restrictions aid greatly in account security, just as early chat restrictions reduce in-game advertising of money-selling sites. I sure understand your frustration, but the limits will lift in a relatively short time, and ultimately, the player experience is better for having them in place.
Thanks for understanding.
While I understand the restriction and actually think its a good ides – I just don’t get the “and ultimately, the players experience is better for having them in place.” The only people who might have a ‘better’ experience are people who don’t have their entire savings ripped off – though they’re going to be ticked about any amount stolen.
I get that they’re going to have a lot of people out and wintersday is right around the corner. However, they knew when they were going to release the wintersday patch and didn’t adjust their season to account for it. It sure looks like bad planning from this end.
“I think and hope it will mean devs will be able to participate more, since they’ll be able to focus on the topics in a distilled form.”
This is, I would argue, an exact description of why CDI threads were created, and it’s not worked out that way for the most part. Other devs post a few times, with Yourself and Chris doing most of the legwork – even when you’re not in the position to answer any of it.
Basically, Gaile, I’m more concerned at this being yet another attempt at “Better communication”, that won’t see many/if any results. After all, your policy of ‘No Discussion’ remains, and no amount of Initiatives/Specialists will solve that.
That last paragraph speak volumes. Until the company moves to a more open form of communication, initiatives like these will continue to come and go.
Ah well, throw a few volunteers at us and see how it plays out.
I’d wager the mounts you see like the broomstick and magic carpet are the types of ones you’ll ever see.
I find myself going back to play GW1 more and more. A time when Anet really knew how to make a game fun. If/when my wife comes back to that realization, we’ll be able to bid this one farewell.
Take it for what its worth. My wife and I spent yesterday in Silverwastes. I had a day off and it was crappy outside (decided to skip skiing for the day) and we decided why not grind out the items we need for the two new luminescent armor pieces. Literally stacks of keys used, dozens of breaches and between us, we got one – that’s right ONE – usable piece for those collections. We only stayed at it to see how long it would take for something to actually be worth a snot.
Also, between us we have several thousands of hours of play time. Neither of us has gotten a precursor drop or one from the forge.
RNG is a wall that prevents anyone from working towards a goal. We’re at the merci of other people’s luck and market demands (price) to get anything worth working for.
Given the lack of direction of the season so far, I’d wager that’s some infinitely powerful sylvari ranger pet that we have to play hide and seek with.
Play the game the way you like!
Except for this. You will be a thief. Not only that, you’ll be a thief with skills that are different than other thieves.
Got it done, but it was ZERO fun.
Enjoy the grind – even more so if you don’t want to wait for the next explicit extractor to be released.
The short answer is: Mike O’Brien
The grinds are still there if you want them. The LS is better than last year, but ‘expansion level content’ is not (regardless of the white knight’s bloviating). Some of the QOL changes they’ve put in has been well received.
With all that said, its worth giving it a shot and see if what drove you away is still around.
