Sure, bring those things into wvw as they have no combat ability beyond one skill. Make those mounted bags die faster.
Season 3 was an incoherent mess when taken as a whole. Left over plot lines. Contrived reveals.
It started off with a bang! 2 dragons and then…… Livia, for some off the wall reason, shows up to revive a Mursaat so we can kill it. The 2 dragons fizzled. Balthazar ended up being lame. Our ‘guildies’ are about useless.
Bad story telling is bad.
I hope not – just so they could put more effort into new zones instead of having to edit the heck out of the areas we’ve already been to support new professions.
Your post history indicate you want population balance but here you say no. What do you really want then? How can you achieve population balance without change and using the current model?
I don’t have the answer to the population balance issue. However, that doesn’t mean your answer is the right one.
Long read with a simple answer. NO
The every varying mechanics gets tedious. Off the bat, some folks find it hard, some folks find it easy – I’d wager a lot find it just a stupid waste of time.
The story is what could end it for some. Past episodes getting barley a mention, new characters come out of left field to do something that doesn’t make any sense. Forcing your character to take an oath that makes even less sense (hey, we only wiped out 2 dragon, why give us the benefit of the doubt).
Mechanic stupidity aside, this was the worst episode since LS1 where we escorted refugees.
The whole living story was not well connected. We are left with unresolved plot lines. Nothing about this last story was really built to. Nice to see an old character, but there was no reason to do it. Very poor storytelling.
More stupid puzzles. Over and over again. If it weren’t for wvw, I’d have given up on this game over these annoyances. They’re certainly doable, but they are not fun. Not in the slightest.
Thanks Neural that’s what I remember it always being since launch. So pathetic cash grab it is.
How despicable that Anet wants to make money to pay their employees, run their business and grow the game! What evil, pathetic monsters are these people!! Its almost like they understand economics……
I’ve never wiped at dragon stand ever, or any meta event.
Fractals of the mist is easy too its made difficult thru AR if your over the AR suggestion you can face roll all of it easily hell 1-49 can be done with 0 AR with exception to bosses who have the AR check at the entrance.
Never failed any world boss ever since launch, not one ever…Same here. I also get 300 every time I go bowling. It’s too easy.
I though I had the same problem until I had a breakthrough moment the other day. Round after round of shooting 18 on an 18. I finally got a good bounce and got a 17.
FWIW, I imagine everything looks easy when you’re getting carried.
If you disregard the snot load of unresolved plot threads in each LS release, know-it-all/do-it-all characters we’re forced to team with, backstabbing characters we’re forced to reconcile with, general poor dialog, and the underwhelming ‘big reveals’ – the living story isn’t to bad.
stop driving gem sales.
You mean, don’t let the company make any money to pay their employees to work on the game?
Until a new system is put in place we will never have population balance. Its abundantly clear that players will not be able to do that for themselves. Bandwagons are inevitable with huge portion of the player base.
If you read the OP, I complained about a lot of other stuff too…
5 out of 8 points are about the rewards…
It just makes it look like you are here to ask for more/easier rewards, while throwing in some of the other permanent problems wvw has to make it seems otherwise. That said, I do agree on the first two.
You are spot on. He has several threads and posts decrying the speed and amount of effort he needs to do to earn the rewards.
If you really want to throw things in a tizzy – give an AP Point for each wvw rank and watch the PVE heros go bonkers.
No updates to the game mode other then scoring.
The only update that will matter more than any other is one that balances population.
No class balance or skills that are altered for wvw specifically.
Nope, would be nice, but I don’t think that will ever happen. We’ve dealt with it for almost five years, its a much more minor annoyance than player population imbalance.
Rewards gated behind ridiculous rank requirements.
The requirements are spot on. You are completely wrong.
Skirmish tickets weekly cap is extremely low.
It is not. You are wrong again.
Too grindy for new players to hit weekly ticket cap or get rank hi enough so it is easier.
No it is not. Strike 3.
No other way to earn tickets other then grinding participation and maintaining it with mindless activities.
Half right. There is no other way to earn tickets but there is nothing grindy about it.
New participation system eliminates even more ways of playing wvw and makes maintaining participation a chore.
Sounds like something an AFKer would say or someone who likes to camp the warg.
No tournaments or anything exciting planned for the near future.
Thank the maker that there are no more tournaments. Those were a disaster for the game that even Anet realized afterwards.
As you have in the past, you’ve confused your opinion with facts.
I know others have said this, but the real issue is the pace that we earn tickets. PIPs are just the path to those. Earning PIPs faster or trading something for them doesn’t really solve the issue with ways to earn additional tickets. Sure, if someone doesn’t play much wvw, they’ll get focused on their inability to get higher level chests, but it still means they want those for the tickets.
I have about the same experience gaming as the OP and would not support doing any more for RP. Anet – please keep the emote ranges and don’t waste valuable development resources making more. I don’t care about any art being done by the players. As long as it doesn’t effect development time of making new content or figuring out some balance (HELLO WvW!!) in the game.
Pay Our Freight
It is different, but I wouldn’t say its all that improved. It feels cluttered and its not intuitive.
Its not a horrible change by any means, but I would rather have seen development efforts other places than changing something that didn’t need it.
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
This is a case of “Be careful what you wish for”.
A loud minority of people raised a massive stink about supposed “Outnumbered Abuse” that was never an issue as it only took place during off peak times. Well now that problem, as well as the AFK farm is solved.
im laughing hard too.
They got what they want, they shoulda be happy and celebrate.
This can not be repeated enough. Where they were demanding more PIPs (though PIPs aren’t the reward, tickets are) through tinkering with the outmanned buff, they ended up nuking roamers and scouts from earning much of anything. Anet is promoting even more K-train activity.
However, if you thought his was a disaster, wait till you see what they do next! LOL
Mounts suck, imo they will make the game look like some stupid asian mmo.
Succinct and accurate.
Changes to how the outnumbered bonus is acquired is coming in the next release.
More proof that whining by the special little frozen sky falling elements get results.
Expect to see a whole lot more of that.
While it would be nice to exchange these tens of thousands of badges for more things, I don’t want the tickets to be one of them.
Seems like this patch was just hype to get people to play again and the reality is almost no one will get any of this gear.
I don’t know about the ‘hype’ part of the comment, but my friends and I are crafting this gear. So your reality and actual reality don’t appear to be related.
There is no problem. Its only a problem for the reward hunters which add little value to wvw play.
The pips are fine. If anything, add more tickets so the reward seekers can get their trinkets and leave so we can stop hearing about the darn outmanned pips.
Leaving the fact that they linked 3 time straight. Lets talk about something objective and that is population balance.
DH and DB combined offhours, particularly SEA can fill up to 2 map queues on weekend, and more than a map week queue during the weekdays. It is something many other servers couldn’t.
Anet obviously does not care about population balance. I will continue to recommend pvp focus mmo players not to play gw2.
I disagree. Anet cares. Its just that they don’t do much about it. They leave it up to the players to balance themselves out and we’ve shown that we are awful at doing that.
So, we’re left with players that won’t do anything and a company that isn’t putting in effort beyond some band-aids. This population disparity will be the death of the game mode (even more than the massive skill imbalances).
There have been a kittenton of threads about this over the years and it always comes down to “NO ONE HAS HEARD OF YOUR COMMANDER OUTSIDE OF THE LIKE 50 PEOPLE THAT FOLLOW HIM IN HIS TIMEZONE AND POSSIBLY ABOUT 6 ENEMIES THAT READ THE UNOFFICIAL WVW FORUMS.”
No one knows enemy players on enemy servers because you can’t see their names, end of discussion.
So much this!
Top anything is subjective when there is no way to directly compare the players contribution (aside from the ‘who the heck’ is that issue).
10-20 depending on how often my roaming crosses the zerg taking a structure and if I feel like joining in on it.
Players are allowed to troll the game, but not the forums.
Goofy Anet logic.
The only complaint I would have is that I wasn’t dead when we lost. Why am I dead in front of the pedestals. For the most part, I usually leave the as soon as the match ends so I don’t see the screen (win or lose).
Why not just give everybody the diamond reward as soon as they enter a wvw map?
Why not just add a ‘give me everything with no effort’ button.? Cut out all the pesky “effort”.
I couldn’t find the link where they made the change, but they removed because it was causing a performance hit on the servers.
It would be nice if we could show our wVw rank as a title – at least in the PVE world. I get why they wouldn’t open that up in wVw (some commanders might avoid letting lower ranked folks in their squad).
For a small experiment, I play two different accounts. Same class, same build. Last season, one account was top tier gold. The other was at the bottom of silver. The only difference between them was the matchmaking (other players). I don’t know where I belong (high, low or in between) but I can say that the MMR system is total fecal material when it comes to accurately ranking players.
Short of the hadfull of great players out there who can carry a game here and there, you’re at the mercy of who you are teamed with and against.
Pip farmers are the only ones who see problems with pip acquisition. Those of us who have played the game, continue to play the game.
Saying “I for myself no longer really want to do WvW normally and i used to only play that mainly, all i do is log in and farm pips dont even care if the garrison is being lost as long i am like in outnumbered map for increase my pip acquisition” is something that a dedicated wvw player would never say, but a shiney hunter.
Only pip hunters see this as a problem.
As others have said, play the game for the fun of wvw and stop worrying about what others are getting.
Who?
/15 chars
For goodness sakes, will everyone stop worrying about pips!
There is NO problem!
Don’t get overjoyed. At best it’ll be a small bandage to the severe bleeding of the games population imbalance.
The bleeding population that many cried about and now cry about queues? Shame on you. My gawd people this update is the biggest I have seen since playing WvW and you all still kitten. Surprised ANET doesn’t pack it all up and shut ’er down.
I’ve never complained about the queues. In fact, I pointed out the day the pips were released that it would only take a short while for the queues to greatly reduce or go away. Again, I was right.
The 1-up 1-down method may be the biggest you’ve seen, but that doesn’t make it great. Its a band-aid at best. If I were to wager, this will last a handful of months and Anet will revert back to the glicko system.
Don’t get overjoyed. At best it’ll be a small bandage to the severe bleeding of the games population imbalance.
Anet needs to make a dead zone in every BLs where you can’t get any pips, so the afk pip kitten can’t sit at spawn and take up valuable spots for active players trying to get into a BL. Force of em out the spawn area where they can get hit by enemy/killed players. Make the safe area at spawn a DEAD pip zone and have the pip active once you’re past the legendary guards or something.
I agree with the dead pip zone idea. Its a good one. However, how is someone taking up valuable pace on an OUTMANNED BL?
There is a false equivalency being used here. People are trying to equate how long it takes to get armor X and assuming armor Y should be similar in length. Anet made no such claim and using as a fact is disingenuous.
The armor requirements are fine. Sure some people want things easy and will make up whatever arguments they can concoct to justify their position. But none of it is based on any published statements from Anet.
Timegates are the way of line in GW2.
Though, I’ve only ever crafted the items to trade with the provisioner, so I skip the ‘have to sit around with a list buying things from the Trading Post’ part of the OP statement.
Dry Top, TD and Curser Shore are the only ones I dislike.
FWIW, to offset the folks who had Lonars, its my favorite map.
Once you finish diamond, you’re done with earning tickets for the rest of the matchup. It resets when the matchups reset. You can worth through them again to earn up to another 175 tickets.
You only get tickets the first time through. If you didn’t get them, put in a support ticket.
forum bug lives!
2000 is very reasonable compared to all other game modes. Well done Anet!
Compared to other game modes; no it certainly is not.
It most certainly is.
Your wall of text was all guess work and conjecture. As you said, crude math which is meaningless math.
Your premise that because legendary takes X long, therefore T3 wvw ascended should be Y long is pulled out of thin air. There is nothing that anet has ever said where these things should be equivalent.
As for insults from wvw people. Calling snowflake arguments a snowflake argument isn’t insulting, its an observation.
Again, well done Anet.
Glicko is a terrible system to use as its rating is based on the play of the person getting rated. As populations and participation fluctuate, the ratings do not react quick enough.
Anet adds in volatility and massive lopsided match-ups are the result.
The server system needs to go. Blow it up and reorganize so the population disparity isn’t so dramatic.
Keep stacking those servers. It will eventually make Anet blow them up and add some balance to the game.
