What huge queues on ‘many servers’ is being referred to by the OP?

Or, is it that they got stuck in a queue on an overstacked server and are projecting.

I will admit that the DBL was made better when gliding was added.

They must have an entire department just to come up with all these ‘currencies’. Its gone past an insane number of them.

Everyone should just transfer to Blackgate and sit in monster queues and then wonder why there is nobody to fight.

I’m not saying that is where the OP wants to go, but its the way the population is shifting.

I think it was a mistake to remove the vendors. However, no amount of whining has changed Anets mind on this yet (keep at it though, the mapping requirement in WvW was removed because of the perpetual whining).

I say that as primarily a wvw player. Let the thing be bought with badges and let the people who don’t get how awesome WvW can be, leave with their little trinket.

I think there are more than enough bank tabs. Those who wish for more should learn to throw garbage items instead of amass them.

Your choice of what to save and not save is not everyone’s choice. What you might consider “garbage” items, someone else might find value in keeping.

More bank tabs are fine. There is no compelling reason for someone to be against it, makes absolutely no sense.

That’s a great sentiment and all, but doesn’t refute his point. The fact is, people who ran out of space just have trouble managing their inventory space. Adding more bank tabs will put that problem off for a few more weeks/months/years maybe, but eventually these same people will fill up those new tabs again, and request even more. And it comes down to not being able to manage inventory well.

Adding more bank tabs will not solve that problem, it just won’t. Eventually you’ll want even more, because you’ll fill up the new ones

Im sure hoarding is a valid point but other than that, what objections do you have to people giving money to ANet for more inventory space? What gameplay problems are caused by people having more bank tabs?

The gameplay problem is none on the players side, but it could be huge on Anet’s side.

What we don’t know is how Anet implemented storage and how it sends the storage data from the servers to the client in their code. Adding more bank tabs may be an simple coding change or it may require the whole system to be reengineered.

I’m good with their being more storage – more $$ for Anet with people buying bank tabs. I also know that hoarders will forever be slamming into whatever cap there is. Those folks can be an endless source of cash.

Fortunately, my wife hoards only in the game vs in reality. She’s always asking for more slots. I have five unused bank tabs that I help store stuff for her. Each of my characters have multiple open 20 slot bags and she is lucky to have a half dozen open slots on any character. FWIW, we each have about the same hours played 10K+ and a fair AP (hers is over 33K and 30K for me) so our incoming resources have been about the same.

So much junk that people hold on to that they’ll never use.

Scoreboard shows FA as ‘winning’ so if you’re deserted, your competitors must be the same.

If you’re not used to pvp type battles, you’ll want to tag along with a commander and their zerg vs roaming on your own or with a friend. WvW is a harsh place to wade into individual (or outmanned) battle against other classes where you may not recognize what it is they’re running.

Be kind in map chat. Don’t use team chat until you feel comfortable announcing something to everyone on your server (in WvW). Ask questions, but not in the middle of a fight. Hop on TS (discord or whatever) if you can.

Believing that Anet really cared about balance.

Yes, the links may take a little time to balance out, but you’d think Anet would know what the population numbers would be and could preset the matchups to avoid that colossally lopsided matches across the board.

New linking, worse balance. I have argued with other about not blowing up worlds. So much for that…. There is not a single balanced matchup on any tier. Yes, there are new links, but this is the worst I have ever seen it across the board in five years.

Your more likely to get permanent bans by saying the wrong thing on the forums than you are actually cheating in the game. There are some really messed up priorities going on at anet.

Your in for a rough time if how other people play upsets you. The ‘you’ is not directed at anyone in the thread; just try not to get hung up on it.

You NEVER EVER heard that from me, my wife or my guild mates. NEVER EVER. Waypoints were a draw in this game. Wasting time moving between locations is not fun. I don’t play video games to be bored and wasting time on a mount just to get to a location is BORING.

What is getting cheapened is the time spent in game doing something fun.

I played the demo weekend and I have to say, mounts are FUN.
I mean, a lot of fun.
Also, I am in the “waypoints cheapen the experience” camp.
I think waypoints are good, but only when used sparingly.
IMHO, the current system of strategic waypoints combined with fun types of movement makes the entire game more fun.

Thats good – for you. I also played the beta weekend and I do not find running on a mount to be fun at all. What is nice for you is that you can choose not to use the waypoints to get where you want and use the mount. Those of us who prefer the waypoint system are not given the same option.

I don’t play the game to run places, I play the game to find new things and fight (mobs, people in wvw or pvp). The way point system helps me not waste time on things that are not fun.

Mounts are what brought me back to the game. It was my biggest complaint. Waypoints suck. They serve a purpose to get somewhere quickly, but there’s no joy in it. It’s not exciting or anything. Mounts are FUN! I had a blast this past weekend with the raptor mount and immediately pre-purchased the expansion.

Great – you have your mounts. Now, I want waypoints added so I don’t have to waste time ‘running/riding’ to where the fun is.

Please add more waypoints. Mounts may be needed to accomplish things, but travelling is a waste of time on them and will be tedious very quickly.
Unidentified items is a step backwards. I didn’t like it in GW1 and I was very happy when it wasn’t part of GW2.
And, another Rytloc not telling us anything. This has gone deep into eye rolling bad story telling.

I did prepurchase and I am not second guessing my decision, but I was quickly bored after a couple hours while the HOT preview was an engaging event. I’m considering this a gamble and the full release will be worth the money.

Its a rotten system that I hope they do something about. It has zero advantages. People who feel that it’ll save inventory space (hoarders, people with bad inventory management) will find that over time, they’ll have the same problems they had before.

The story telling in GW2 has flashes of being ok, but always turns in to a convoluted mess with poorly executed plot resolutions and contrived dialog.

So far I still prefer the waypoints for getting to where the fun is vs sitting on a mount for several minutes navigating to where I want to be. Definitely a step in the wrong direction. Generic MMO feeling.

The map itself is ok, pretty bland so far, but verdant brink felt that way on HoT beta and it was better on release.

Populations are falling as fast as they grew with after the last major update. I often struggle to find a dozen friendlies across all maps in T1 during off hours.

Overall, participation fluctuates and there are clearly less queues here (outside of reset) than when pip mania first started. However, currently in T3 and find people at all times of the day 9am, 2pm, 8pm, 1am, 4am all EST. Sometimes only a few dozen here and there, sometimes map queued. Our anecdotal measurements clearly conflict each other. So any conclusion from said measurements cannot be trusted. Only Anet knows what the participation level is.

DBL was a new and better map. People said they wanted a new map, Anet delivered. It is better in every way. Plenty more spots for strategic positioning, sieging structures from various angles, deadly drops that make knockbacks actually lethal if you position yourself favorably…the list can go on and on.

But the incredibly loud forum dwellers found it unfamiliar, even after asking for something new. It seems like they didn’t want anything new after all, since they were unwilling (or unable) to learn the ins and outs. They didn’t like change, it took them out of their comfort zone where they already knew every nook and cranny of ABL. They didn’t want to explore DBL for strategic locations. They pathed certain areas of ABL just like a horde of brainless NPCs until someone crossed that path – and apparently they are OK with doing that forever, but somehow, at the same time, they are NOT OK with doing that forever?

I guarantee that if DBL was our first map, and then ABL was added later as a new map, the same people would explode in a fit of rage and demand that DBL was placed back as the norm.

You sample is probably just your friends who probably think like you. My sample is probably the same where the ‘vast majority’ felt that Mounts is a very bad idea and shows Anet has lost its creative touch and is looking more and more like any other generic MMO.

I’m sure they’ll have just about everything as a mount one day.

This is a win. Sure, we may be looking at some time to grind out whatever it takes to make the gifts, but that’s how gaining legendary equipment should be.

I am cautiously optimistic. It may not address the most pressing concerns in the game, but it may add an additional complexity to attacking and defending objectives. I’ll definitely be in there checking it out (not that I don’t pretty much do wvw everyday already).

No, no, no and NO! No season – ever again. They were the single biggest destroyer of wvw population balance. Anet even took the incredible step of acknowledging they were detrimental to the game.

If you already have HoT, you do not need to buy it again.

However; if you are a new customer, if you buy PoF, you do not get HoT or any of its features. You’d want to include HoT in the bundle at check out to get it.

If you buy HoT, you do not get PoF and none of its features which includes Season 4.

I hope not.

But, I also hoped they wouldn’t waste development time on mounts and they did that, so you never know.

As several people mentioned, and Mo mentioned in the AMA, we release on our own cadence and will continue to release updates for WvW outside of the expansion release.
