I don’t get why people say the DBLs looked nice. I thought it was drab and dull.

Completely agreed. Sick and tired of ‘Infantile Mode’ in WvW. When they altered the desert maps, they may as well have put happy clouds that fart rainbows in it. Thanks whiner wimps.

With that said, it’s a rotation, not a replacement. I will be looking forward to when they rotate OUT these tired old alpine maps again.

Thanks for bringing back the superior alpine BL. True wvw people appreciate your efforts on this. The pvd desert bl people are going to continue to whine and cry, but they just don’t know how to adapt.

See how easy it is to belittle the other map and those that like it.

My wife and I are so looking forward to playing alpine again. She stopped playing wvw because of the desert bl. I spent my time in EB (or the EB queue) since the desert bl was not fun to play on – at all. Again, thanks!

Another interesting factoid is that 94.5% of all facts are made up on the spot.

WvW and map exploration (just to see if there are some tiny nooks I haven’t come across yet).

I don’t think that people won’t play on DBL weeks, they’ll just go someplace else while waiting out the EB queue.

I’d wager some of the favorite ‘testers’ that they have continue to stockpile the things they know are going to be valuable down the line. In this case, came ready to craft when they knew this was hitting the streets.

DBL is better after the patch. It is still an awful map that belongs in the dust bin of history – but it is better.

Since nobody wants to play desert borderlands EB ends up with a crazy queue while the other maps are empty or full of semi-afk players waiting for their EB queue.

ArenaNet needs to quickly roll out the alpine borderlands. It would alleviate many of the concerns on this forum right now.

Welcome to GW2 WvW since day 1. It’s always been like this – everyone go to EB and only if its full go to BL.

The difference is that people are not going to the desert BL while waiting in the EB queue.

It may not have been clear in the notes, but read the sticky threads on top. They said it this link may last 3 months, but they’re evaluating how it works and may automate something that changes more frequently.

To bad, so sad, buy the expansion or learn to press ‘F’ (hot key may vary) as everyone who’s ever played wvw has had to do for over 3 and a half years.

That foolishness aside, I can’t wait to go home to the Alpine BLs – whether anyone else goes or not.

Just sat through an 80+ queue for EB and none of the BLs had a queue.

Yeah, the alpine BLs can’t come back soon enough.

Until the desert BLs came into play, I rarely went to EB. I was always on the home BL defending, roaming, recapping camps, running supplies etc. Now, I want no part of that horrid dessert map.

I would dance a jig if FOW made a return. Heck, I go to GW1 from time to time to just do a FOW run.

Queues are even bigger today.
My main concern is that queues could put people off coming back to WvW and linking servers would only make any such queues worse.

I wager that the EB queues grow and the desert BLs remain unchanged.

FWIW last night (NA) on SBI EB had a queue of 50+ and none on any of the BLs.

I went to our home BL and there were a few people around. Saw some of the changes, capped a few camps back, saw a few red dots doing the same thing. Still don’t like the map, went to EOTM to wait out the EB queue.

The reward track seems to be well paced to participating when you engage the enemy or ppt. Though I did see something that may (or may not) be a bug.

In EB outside Aldons our dolly was getting hit by some bats. I killed the bats and escorted the dolly the rest of the way to the keep. Because I had only been standing in the keeps refreshing siege, my participation bar was reducing. Neither refreshing siege or defending the dolly stopped the reducing participation.

Not a big deal, but I was a bit surprised that defending our supplies (even from a mediocre npc) didn’t at least stop the reduction of participation.

No, this player with 100% assurance, wants the desert theme utterly and completely removed from WvW. As I’ve stated many times, a desert theme is not conducive to learn term player retention. Even if they create map rotation, they’ll be participation drops every time the desert map is introduced. It’s simply a bad theme overall.

I also think the desert BL is a terrible map – both in function and in presentation.

I’d be happy if it disappeared forever, but I’ll do what I do now – avoid it when it comes up in the rotation and let the five people who like that map have a field day.

Opposed. Not because I care if mounts exist. I care because development resources would be used that I feel that could be used in better places.

Earned stacks and stacks from pvp rewards tracks. Sure, hundreds were turned to spirit shards, but at some point I just started to throw them out. It would be nice if there was another conversion for them.

Even if they were the same, Anet still needs to make money. The people working there need their paychecks – food and rent isn’t free.

Aside from that fact they lied about getting new legendaries and that hits them hard in the ‘trust’ issues, they really couldn’t touch their gem store income stream.

If people are still doing the COF farm, you could join in on that. Otherwise, world events (teq, triple wurm etc) are good ways to rack up some exp. if you don’t want to just run around and do the typical event chains.

A lot of people quit over that? Even if they did allow you to change it, those people would have found some other off-beat reason to quit.

I’m sure it has to do with the amount of work to make it happen isn’t going to generate enough revenue to make it worth while.

Tyler Batman said in one of the reddit things linked, that they will post this “detailed explanation” right before EU reset on friday. And then the EU pairings as EU reset, and the NA pairings as NA reset. To avoid gaming the system.

Unfortunately, anet has already informed, the people they like, what the server merger plans are, and these people have already “gamed the system” in their favor. These people have been bragging about it for a week or more.

I’m sure some insider (disgruntled dev, alpha tester maybe?) spilled the beans and that’s why we see so many people running to a few specific servers. I hope anet surprises them by not doing what has been reported in that fake release notes. Though, I bet the fake ones are going to end up being pretty much right anyway.

A reset may help those folks who aren’t maxed and didn’t really understand what they may have been putting their points in.

It would also help to have a ‘populate all’ for those of us who do have an excess of points.

It will also be interesting to see competing tags pop up from the different servers who are used to running their raid or pug groups during certain time periods. There is potential for entertaining drama in the chats.

We’ll see how this plays out, but the servers that didn’t have ‘off hours’ (whenever that off hours is) still won’t have them and it might be a crap-shoot to be linked to a server that has it.

In any case, I’m hoping for the best for this beta.

I know the company is touchy about any criticism and wants helpful feedback – how about making the forums the place developers go to talk to the customer base. Heck, how about fixing the search feature. Howe about fixing the paging bug?

I consider this a massive fail and give in to the whiners of this community.

This is no step forward, this is like a huge degeneration of this game, going back to old crap because this community is so degenerated to give the devs not at least a chance to overwork the new desert maps – no instead they hue and cry mordio as typically usual like theres no tomorrow

They should bring back the alpine maps first, until following points are done:

1) They reworked the Reward System of WvW to make it equal with PvE/PvP
2) They made some proper changes to the Desert Map as preparation TO KEEP IT in its overworked size reduced form
3) They implemented into this game a system with that they can rotate the maps out at will freely

However, thats already a dead horse topic by now and to me is WvW already totally ruined beyond any chance that anything Anet will do can fix it anymore to bring it back to a healthy state, regardless on which map we play now as long theres such a degenerated community in the background that dictates Anet what they should do with WvW beyond any common sense.

And as long such a kind of vocal minority ditates for WvW the route for this game mode to go, leadign to the point that Anet just completely ignores to use their own common sense just to please the whiners, there will be no future for this game mode in my honest opinion, if they make for every step forward due to whiners like three steps backwards…

The massive fail is the Desert BLs.

The vocal minority that likes these BLs is made clear by the absolute desertion of the boarderland.

Its good that Anet listened to the vocal majority and is making corrections to the desert BL and bringing back the Alpine BL.

Now that we’ve voice our subjective facts and that it appears you have no hope for WvW, I wish you well in whatever part of the game you chose to continue to play. The rest of us will enjoy seeing the Alpine BL come back.

Wait until Anet reveals what changes they’re planning on with the population situation. Somethings going to hit us within the week.

If you look at the faux release of server mergers, you can see why DR and TC are getting flooded with people now. Lets just see if Anet has the backbone to change who’s merging with whom (if a merger is even done) and squash whomever is getting the early info.
