Where did my ancestors leave that ORGE SLAYING KNIFE! I can actually make use of it now….
The definition of PUG has changed quite a bit from the beginning. Its taken on a more negative connotation over time.
Glad they came out and told us that (even though it was reddit instead of their own forums).
Right … making a mistake, recognizing a bad business decision and stopping low-value development now equates to immaturity. I suspect posts only get better from here.
Choosing to not fulfill your responsibilities, honor your obligations, or keep your word?
Yeah, that could certainly be considered immature behavior.
Making a, “mistake,” and leaving others holding the bag for it is not what I would consider the mature thing to do.
They said they would – actually sold the product saying they would have all these legionaries. The lesson is to not believe them or at least take a bucket of salt with anything that they say. Generally people who say they’re going to do something and don’t are called liars.
Alpine coming back = GREAT
HoT gimmicks coming with it – SUCKS
I don’t think the map is ‘beautiful’ at all. But, that’s just an ascetics thing anyway. The problem is the lack of fun – looking forward to the Alpine BLs coming back.
You guys don’t seem to understand what this really mean. They are basically giving up on improving WvW for good and are rolling back to a previous version instead of investing in the game mode and fixing issues.
The new borderland had a lot of cool new ideas, it’s in its implementation that it had problems. The old borderland isn’t much better honestly,it was designed for the orb mechanic that was then removed and replaced with nothing, the ruins are also useless. Most people here were already sick of playing them 2 years ago.
If you think this will be good for WvW in the long-term it wont.
Long term/short term, I don’t recall anyone saying the Alpine BL was the fix for the game mode. You totally went straw man on that.
In fact, you introduced a fallacy along with that somehow equated going to the Alpine BL means they’ve abandoned improving WvW. Yes, their attention to the game mode is lagging far behind all the others (save dungeons) but going to the better BLs doesn’t mean they’re going to ‘give up’ on making improvements.
Very happy to know its coming back!
Yay for the Alpine BLs making their way back.
The other changes sound good as well.
Of course, people want more (and I am among them) but at this point, I’ll be happy with what we can get.
My answer is simple. I had fun on the Alpine BL, I don’t have fun on the Desert BL.
Hello left hand? Right hand here. Did you hear that we’re going to renege on our legendary weapons we sold as part of the expansion?
Left hand here. Really right hand? When did this happen? We’re still marketing the product with that information in it!
Sorry about that left hand – we’re also going to continue to work on our communication skills. Make sure you don’t let anyone know about this mix up or we will have a hard time convincing people that we’re getting our act together!
It felt half-kittened.
They use their company line about all the things that were in the release, but one game mode (wvw) got totally messed up with a map few people like or want, 3 zones to explore in – dragon stand is just a mass instance since the entire map is wrapped around the meta event, guild halls that have been pretty lame IMO and just a handful of promised legendries. Yes the revenant and some of the elite specs are fun, but as an expansion goes, it felt small and unfinished. Unfinished for sure since they didn’t finish it and are abandoning things they said they would do.
I like the idea of a title track of sorts, that increments when you continue to achieve legend, season after season. I have a couple ideas for the titles:
(1) Primordial Legend
(2) Exalted Legend
+
(3) Ascended Legend
(4) Fabled Legend
(5) Mythical Legend
While I’ll never get to one of those, those are some slick titles. Totally worth putting in.
I miss the ‘mini-me’ from GW1 and the gender swap. Those were the best.
from https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/hot-new-legendary-weapons/
" It takes a lot of work to craft these legendary journeys for release, so rather than take the time to develop the full set before releasing any of them, we will be releasing new legendary weapons in small groups at regular intervals until the full set of sixteen has been added to the game. "
until the full set of sixteen has been added to the game…..
I won’t lose sleep over not getting it, but I just wanted to add this to a growing list of untruths and revisions we keep getting.
maguuma vs i forget who in smc. All 3 servers spread out inner outter and all 3 levels of the castle. Mag ended up pushed onto a platform on 3rd lvl and we started portaling people up to hold our “embassy” we called it. 2 hours later we finally got killed out but was an amazingly hilarious time
I remember that fight. Epic is often over used, but in this case, it fits.
Because there is nothing funnier than
‘The idea starts with “run for it” and generally goes downhill from there.’
So let me see if I have this down; Anet has always claimed that making armor is far more developer intensive than making outfits so they pour developer time into making raids which are played by 5% of the population and then pour more into armor that will only be used by 5% of said player base. Time well spent I’d say lol!
Locking anything considered the best option into any one type of content is just flat out bad design. Every top tier item that is in the game should be made available in all formats, dungeons, fractals, pve, pvp, wvw, crafting that’s just bloody logical and any counter argument is just elitism pure and simple. Top tier items should be a reward for playing the game not for playing one particular way that’s just divisive nonsense. The main fear raiders have always had is that if the rewards weren’t there then people wouldn’t do the content to get them well by conclusion it means they don’t like doing that type of content or they would acquire it that way.
Totally incorrect. Not even close to reality.
Though, saying its a simple change to implement doesn’t mean that it is. Unless you’re familiar with the code and requirements that they’re using.
Stop talking nonsense.
I’ll remember to not hire you for one of my developers.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I’ve been in the new maps. I know how to get around. I’ve tried to like it, but the Desert BL is not fun to play on. Not. fun. at. all.
For all the faults of the Alpine map, I had fund while being on it.
Maybe once they’ve had a chance to revamp the map and bring it back, my opinion could change. But as of right now, I want this horrific map gone.
I don’t care if mounts are added or not. I don’t want one and wouldn’t use it. Just leave the waypoints alone!
I like the idea.
Though, saying its a simple change to implement doesn’t mean that it is. Unless you’re familiar with the code and requirements that they’re using. (though, it does seem like it would be easy)
I’ll chime in by repeating what a lot of others have been saying already.
1. Bring back the alpine BL. Its a personal choice, but it was a lot more fun than the desert BL.
2. Population balance. The fun factor gets diminished when you’re vastly outnumbered for hours on end every single day (whenever it is you play).
4. Rewards. It would be nice to have a pvp style reward progression of some sort.
5. Let the auto loot master work in wvw.
Choices have consequences.
Maybe someday they’ll just hand things out for just showing up……
Yes, change it back as it was before.
I spent about 2000 gold on top of all the mats I had saved up. The gate on Zinn was the only hold up that couldn’t be overcome by spending gold.
In Astralaria 3 (correct me if I got the number wrong) The night time requirements were the most annoying thing. You just have to sit around and wait for night to fall.
I think this is one of the things they’ve talked about changing in an upcoming patch.
FWIW I haven’t gotten a precursor drop and I’ve played since launch (thousands of hours across all game modes). My wife has played more than me and has gotten one. Our guild leader uses the mystic toilet several times a week and has crafted 218 precursors to date. He never has any money though, he sells the pre and buys exotics to throw into the forge and get another. RNG is evil.
I’d wager most of us don’t get the drops, but buy what we need (or craft now).
The real problem is Mike O’Brien, who infamously called all WvW players PvE players.
Yeah, that’s a biggy. I can only hope that he meant something other than he said.
I play PVE and I play WvW. It doesn’t mean I want duels in pve or PVE events in WvW.
I was in high school when Purple Rain came out.
Junior year myself – fun times!
Anet has always had very poor communication – its part of their culture.
As campy as the story was in GW1, it was much more entertaining than what has occurred in GW2. And even more important, GW1 was fun fun fun! GW2 just isn’t as fun as it could have been.
The golem OVR-9000
My favorite as well.
There are several named after developers (or a reference to the dev’s character names) that are neat to run across.
So many things wrong with the OP and the follow up that its easier to just say everything about it is wrong then to take the time to rebut everything. Fortunately, for all of Anets faults, they’ll not do anything to diminish any time over another.
Ha! I made a free account some months back. Did Teq with it once, got a horde. Never did it again so I could stay at 100% :P
u can buy ur rank using laurels
I don’t think you can do that anymore.
Since Anet does little more than say things like ‘eventually’ – just come back and check the release notes every few weeks to see if something new shows up.
Anet has terrible communication. Always has and there is nothing to indicate that it’ll get any better. You just have to periodically check in on your own.
For me, I don’t care if it comes back or not – I didn’t like the content.
With that said, it’ll probably show up someday. Some year. The sad thing is there are probably thousands of people who wasted their money on that continue coin who have left the game over the last few years. Anet is laughing all the way to the bank on those folks.
Its a race now, will SAB get here or a meaningful fix to the disastrous changes to WvW?
Someone should bring this up on Reddit – you’re much more likely to get the attention of an Anet dev there than you are here.
If all you want are levels, join EOTM and follow the tag.
Its just observational evidence, but I too had to spend a whole lot more time and open more chests to get the sparks than I did the other materials from VB, AB & DS.
Fissure of Woe!.
Do it!
guild betas are out. so i say 3 months to 6
I heard most are PvE guilds, so umm yea…
They didn’t listen to wvw player suggestions last time, why be different this time?

Anvil.
We so need an anvil.
Can honestly say after finishing Astralaria, i’m never going after any Gen 2 Legendary again due to step 4’s non-sense.
I’m with you on that – at least for the other two second generation weapons. I’ll reserve judgment on the next released set.
You definitely want to keep an eye on Reddit. You are much more likely to find useful communication from Anet staff there then you are here.
Maybe someday we’ll get that.
There are so many things they should do or need to do, this change is probably just buried in the pile.
Why not send him a PM or mail in game and ask instead of hoping he is on the forums, reads your post and decide to respond?
