Death to the unimaginatively written twig!
That was the best part of the story.
I use VM Player to run windows 10 (yeah, beta version) and the second account of GW2 in that. Works like a champ.
Not likely.
Whoever set the achievement levels and whoever approved them were clearly trolling AP hunters. That trolling won’t stop now.
Just keep at it and you might get to Yak Slapper before the turn of the century.
Begging doesn’t work.
Pleading doesn’t work.
You’ll get about the same results by holding a séance and arranging vegetables in bizarre patterns.
Well, they created this EVENT with this problem, which causes people to be able to use an exploit, and therefore it follows that if they ban people, they’re doing two wrongs.
Rather than reverting/retracting the dumb, poorly executed event, and also removing the bug, they’re allowing it to remain.
Your logic is flawed.
Must be staff lol
Bumped because still relevant, excessive messaging after sending 3 mails, really? Anet please do something about this, it’s annoying.
Annoying? Then its working as intended!
I use Windows 10 in a VM and it runs the game perfectly fine.
I understand your pain. I also think you’re misstating your angst. You’re upset by the value you’re getting for the money vs the value new players get. You’ll pay 50 for the expansion (and potentially a character slot). New players get the same plus a bank tab and four character slots.
The real question you need to ask yourself is “does the expansion have enough content to justify the money”. As for the fairness issue, get over it. Anet and the white knights don’t care.
Revs were weak as could be and certainly need a balance tweak. I did not play one, but the ones I faced were pathetically weak.
It takes some time to learn a workable skill rotation with the trait lines. Then it takes more time to effectively use those skills.
That’s assuming you’re facing someone who even knows how to work on that.
I’m good with the rules – if you get it on the rev, you don’t get to keep it. However, I am going to toss the exotics in the mystic toiled just to see that if I can get a precursor drop. Never had one, and just seeing it would be nifty.
It’ll be different. It might even be fun for a few minutes.
I can predict that a few people will jump into golems, locate some GvGs and attempt to wipe them out.
Our guild leader is at 153 crafted pre cursors (all crafted and crafting is what he does in game). Between my wife and I, over 7K hours of play time and only one found (we avoid the mystic toilet). RNG is a vicious mistress.
Not to mention that roaming solo is obsolete now unless you have 100 condi clears. Guess its nothing but blob zergs now. gg anet.
It really has been a roamers disaster.
But, Anet does like their players zerging, so don’t expect any changes.
I find little value in the change. Most people are going to end up using the same meta builds (as they are devised) just like last time. No real gain, but a loss of valuable development time.
Saying it’s bad story writing is like saying a preview for a movie which shows Character A trusting Character B and then hating Character B in the same preview to be ‘bad writing’. It’s a preview.
Actually, those are mutually exclusive.
I don’t see a lot of whining – I just see a lot of people not getting all excited about the change as Anet seemed to be hoping for.
People please learn to read, it’s not that difficult.
Assuming the post you’re reading is in a language you understand…..
Though, the spirit of your post remains true.
So far, the specialization is ‘meh’ at best. It seems to work, but doesn’t have any redeeming value.
Yes, we have thoughts and opinions.
The swirly machine.
As I enjoy killing every thief I see – it would be a great time to grab some guildies and go collect some bags!
In other words, a mini WvWvW clash…..

Its simply about value for the money. New players will get more value (five toon slots, bank tab etc.) than existing players who upgrade for the same $50. Anet has staked out a position that this is somehow a good thing.
The real question for you and the rest of us, is the expansions content worth their asking price? If you like the class you currently play, mainly WvW or PvP – it sure doesn’t look like it. It might be better to wait until they discount the expansion and jump in then.
There is little value to the expansion unless you are a new player.
So New Buyers of GW2 Get what exactly?

Why would you even pay 60$ for the base game? You can get the base game for 20$
You won’t have that option when HoT goes live. Early adopters will end up paying about $100 for the same content that the new players get for $50.
If i buy WoW today i won’t have to pay what someone that bought every expansion on release would have to pay. If i bought a brand new computer today, mark my words within 3 months the price will have gone down, that does NOT mean i will get my money that i supposedly “lost” back.
I do think however within 30 days it’s reasonable to get your money back, so you can buy hot, but you will lose your account. Resonable and fair.
But to believe that you will get back money from 3 years ago, you are living in a dreamworld and have little to no experience. And to believe that somehow just because you bought the game 3 years ago, you wil get the expansion for free.
I mean what’s going on here? WoW has sub fee’s and still people buy their expansion and there’s not any bs over there, yet in Gw2 a game you can play how much you want for a reasonable price it get’s torn to pieces?
Something is wrong here.
I don’t want money back that I spent three years ago! I want a feeling that I am getting value for my money. Since I don’t feel that I am, I will not be purchasing HoT until I do. In order for that to happen, something will have to change. I’m not sure exactly what, but this is where I stand.
Good don’t purchase it. I’m sure your attitude is shared by a percentage of people but I’m not convinced it’s a big enough percentage to make a difference. But I’m happy with you not purchasing it. Doesn’t stop me from feeling you’re completely unreasonable.
That is understandable, your unreasonable positions would make it more likely for you to see others as unreasonable.
The most accurate statement said in all these threads was earlier in this thread.
they won’t get my $50 until such time as I believe I am getting sufficient value for my money

I’m sorry, but the tantrum is being thrown buy the people crying about the cost. I really don’t care if you buy it or not, I just feel all this whining is pathetic and I believe I made a valid point in; as far as value for money goes, how many hours of entertainment are you going to get for the same $50 elsewhere?
Isn’t that for the person who has $50 to decide?
If you feel the price is worth the value you’re getting – then peachy keen. To others, its not.
Welcome to the real world.
The only thing I know for sure is that Anet did a poor job in their marketing efforts on this pre-release fiasco.

I’m really amused over people complaining over $10 USD
please tell me what you’re going to do with that $10?Going to go on Steam and buy 2-3 games that you will only play for a week before forgetting about them?
Going to go to starbucks and buy 2 cups of coffee?
Going to the movies and only have 1 lrg popcorn?
If giving away your money for no value is how you operate, send me $10.
GW1 had saving, Changing, and Sharing builds as part of the game.
One of the myriad of things GW1 did right that GW2 chose not to implement.
I had forgotten that video…..
dang nab it!
I think you’ll find a lot of people being surprised by that decision.
You know they considered it and had to know they’d get some backlash. The most reasonable explanation (to me) is that money won the day and they expect people to shell out enough money for the gems to buy a character slot or buy the more expensive releases or, potentially, a gold sink for people to convert gold to gems to get a slot.
In any case, its just another reason why I’m leaning more and more to not buying the expansion.
Its all about value for the money and at this point, I don’t see it.
Anet knows everyone who gets the expansion will want to create the new class. I’d wager most people don’t have an open slot and don’t want to delete existing toons. So, the result is people paying more or dumping gold into gems as a gold sink.
I wish they had just an expansion only option. Including the core game (first time that term is getting tossed out there) is meaningless value to hundreds of thousands of existing players. Heck, they offered GW2 for $10 awhile back – make an expansion only option for $40 instead of fifty and it would probably mollify most folks.
What i don’t get is why people create new threads about same thing over and over and over again.
Probably trying to get someone from Anet to respond as though they cared one iota.
Why in the world of Tyria would they want to give us a festival or SAB that people are clamoring for when there is absolutely nothing else going on?
Crazy talk.
[/end sarcasm]
That was, perhaps, the best video I never watched.
In an ironic twist – the forum rules are enforced faster and with more authority than the in-game ones.
Sounds like fun – you should get in on it instead of worrying about players getting killed…. in a pvp zone……
Uplevel squishy k-train sensor going off!!!
I don’t like the jumping puzzles. Sure they’re not difficult, but they’re boring, have no redeeming value (you’re opinion may vary) – so I don’t do them.
If you’re grinding AP, then you’ll have to decide how much suffering you want to take with them.
I know I change my build around when I see thieves on the other team – simply because of that annoying stealth. However, it does make it enjoyable watching them melt like butter.
I dislike stealth as a game mechanic. Its an annoying feature that you can make melee contact with something that’s invisible, but no feedback is given as to where you made the contact.
The flamers go ballistic if you just laugh at them.
Laugh, block, move on.
It has the nickname of ‘toilet’ for a reason.
Remember, Anet focuses its efforts on the PVE play style. When enough PVE players whine and complain (like they did on the wvw mapping requirement), they’ll change those WvW achievements to something actually attainable.
The beta is not for you. It’s for ArenaNet.
Exactly.
Anyone who thinks otherwise should take a look at their entitlement issues.
The queue for EB is about to get much longer
Anet has never – ever (including GW1) been friendly to their veteran players with their game changes. Why would anyone expect anything different?
I’m sure they have meta data showing how long an account is in a wvw map.
that means nothing.
the guy above you stated it good.
They should just contact main NA and EU guilds to get those people, or talk with different server communities and so they can represent different wvw tiears.
Even would need som EOTM lovers (no i don’t think they plaing wvw there)
Contacting ‘main NA and EU guilds’ means less than nothing. There is zero benefit to contacting a guild – its about individual players. And they know who was on where and could pick a cross section if thats what they really wanted.
I’m sure they have meta data showing how long an account is in a wvw map.
This Beta Portal is a freaking sham....

There are a lot of people with entitlement issues.
There are a lot of people who confuse criticism of a design decision with entitlement issues.
You must have missed the threads where people announce how many AP points they have or the number of hours they have played before complaining that they haven’t gotten a portal drop.
