I need to understand the double-dodge during phase 2 AoE better. I was practicing last night in a duo and a couple times after dodging forward and back right under Lupi one more projectile launched right at me hit me. I feel like I have to blow every evasion I have just to be absolutely sure I don’t get hit (dodge/dodge/swap/dodge/focus 5/renewed focus/aegis/MASH ALL F KEYS DO IT), and then of course I get swiped because Lupi’s AI was written by someone who gets off on making me suffer.
If you create a CPI in game using staple items inflation is just fine. It’s only the luxury items (actually good sigils, runes, zerker stat items etc) that have risen, as to be expected since people have slowly gravitated towards more efficient pve builds.
To the OP, a berserker guardian with a mind towards farming CoF efficiently is kind of in a weird spot, because stupid pugs won’t accept you even though they’re not even coming close to approaching minimum run times even with 4 warriors. When was the last time anyone pugging CoF got into a “4 runs per omnom” group? They’re the most discriminatory community for any dungeon, which I could totally understand- and even support- if it was actually getting them anywhere, but most pugs doing CoF are completely and utterly terrible players.
If you go to the other side of the spectrum however (“all classes” groups), you’ll continue to find terrible players, the difference being you’re spending 12 minutes per run instead of 8.
Four runs per food is completely doable with a berserker guardian replacing a warrior, but you’ll probably have to get a dedicated guild/friends group to do it.
A+ thread, had me twitching at several parts
You can only get Knight’s gear from SE and Arah, not CoE.
It’s like watching one of those world record guys do a rubik’s cube and saying “ugh rubik’s cube is such a stupid easy puzzly, nerf pls”
No one is telling you you can’t come to fractals, some of us are just telling you you can’t come in our groups. But you want to force me to play with you. Because players who refuse to accept the DPS meta won’t allow people to play with or not play with whoever they want, they want to force us to play with them. Like a crybaby little brother who won’t let big brother/sister hang out with their friends alone.
It absolutely is by design though, that’s why you have a dodge button and most melee-centric classes have evasion skills as well.
If a boss does 5000 damage per second to your party, every second you add to the fight by doing less damage is you adding another 5000 damage that your party has to avoid or heal through. Every second you shave off by doing more damage is 5000 HP you’ve provided to your party.
Kill speed is the best damage mitigation in the game, no team healing comes close.
We’re not judging the players, we’re judging the class. I mean, I guess somewhat by extension a player that takes a kittenty pve class into fractals gets judged a little bit, but if that player were to switch to a non-trash-tier class there’d be no big deal, because there’s nothing personal about it.
-not running retreat or save yourselves for swiftness
-didn’t show all the jump paths
You say you don’t want build advice but changing your build (or at the very least, your utility bar) is part of how good players do the fractal better. Locking in your utility bar to whatever your favorite skills are and never changing according to the situation is not a good strategy.
Malrona. Instagibbed by her own AoE.
I’ve posted this in the bug forum, perhaps keeping it bumped will get a dev to respond to it. I could also win the lottery.
Dredge fractal last night, ice elemental version. After I think one or two pulls, the lava buckets stopped showing their animation for my entire party. At first we thought it was completely screwed and wasn’t dumping the lava at all, til one of the group suggested we pull the elemental over to one anyway and see if it was just an animation issue, which proved to be true. I recorded a few times to demonstrate.
I have posted this in the dungeon forum as well and other people are also experiencing this bug. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Dredge-Fractal-bug-buckets-missing-animation
Ok cool, I will crosspost this to the bug forum. Not that I have hopes of it being addressed, mind you.
I’d suggest changing out your utility bar there, replacing wall and smite condition with retreat and save yourselves for mobility or the occasional party-wide aegis for a tentacle swipe. Though they should be superfluous since a guardian using GS with sword/focus can chain blind for every swipe unless you get caught between two tentacles on phase 2, or if they get off a swipe after death since they lose the blind condition then. But but between aegis and blinds, a guardian should never have to dodge the tentacles and should never get hit. Stand your ground is useful to engage the jade colossi but the blind from leap of faith will take care of the knockdown ring-aoe they do.
Last tip: when you post videos to the forums, use the share link so it doesn’t add all this white space from trying to embed the video:
Just so.
oh lol I was so focused on the timer I didn’t even notice the entire point of the video
No no! It’s still there! If you go back to where that chest was now it’ll be full of loot waiting for you, you’ll even get tokens too!

45 seconds stealth to stealth (except for one where she gave you an extra couple seconds for some reason), and even with a spark pull that lasted longer than a stealth window she gave you enough time to DPS her the rest of the way. The scenario the bug crowd is describing is her popping back at 50% and not giving a full 45 second stealth to stealth window.
I don’t know why some people are getting 45 and some are getting 55, that’s kind of odd. But your vid shows normal behavior as far as I can tell. It’s the stealth-to-stealth window that flips out (I still believe), though we don’t have any video evidence of that yet.
As Lord Byron said, there’s a good chance they were upset at you not pulling forward into the fights in Ascalon fractal because the NPCs were on you in the back. If you come forward to where everyone else is, the NPCs will come forward and join the fights. Also, making your whole team wait while you kill the chickens is very rude. You should have asked their permission.
Yeah, I can understand the argument to be made, that for people who aren’t as comfortable in berserker gear they might actually have better clear times in more defensive oriented gear and with a dedicated supporter team mate. But honestly they’re going to be better off in the long run if they just learn to start dodging and using evasion mechanics rather than relying on their “healer” guardian to carry them.
As a great mind once said, when practicing for a fight…

Yeah once we got un-discombobulated we settled on a bucket-puller and resumed as normal, just checking the debuff icon to make sure it hit.
ed: We had the same thing with the F prompt not showing up but I believe that was simply due to all of us running around trying to pull every bucket to see if it was isolated to one member. Once we settled on one puller per the usual method the bucket prompt was refreshing at the normal rate.
Posting this here before posting it in the bug forum. Has anyone ever had this bug? Dredge fractal last night, ice elemental version. The wide-eyeness of the OP when considering the fact that some people would like to run groups as optimized as possible no matter what the content is hilarious to me.
Why does it seem that people are more tolerant of non-max efficient team compositions in fractals than ‘regular’ dungeons? Or is there just simply something special about fractals that allows for a broader range of classes/builds to excel?
I don’t think people that would discriminate on dungeon runs are more tolerant. It’s the same group of people making or joining “all class” runs for both. I think those of us that discriminate are probably even less tolerant when it comes to fractals since you know you have to be stuck with that crap-tastic group for an hour or more.
Anet’s quality control strikes again.
I wouldn’t want to run a level 2 fractal with 2 necros and a (pug) ranger. The entitlement in this thread is ridiculous. Play How You Want to Play Unless You Don’t Want to Play With Me, I guess.
“Just play together”, says OP. “Some people should suck it up and play regardless of the group,” says another. How about you all let people make their own decisions about what teams they want to play in, and just post/join “all classes welcome” groups?
10 in Wilderness isn’t needed to make QZ worth taking. Also, haste doesn’t speed up rezzing (anymore, if it ever did.)
Always did and still does, sir!
Quickness will increase the speed of channeled skills (including non-combat actions, such as reviving, mining resource nodes, opening chests, building siege weapons or communing with places of power etc., if activated prior to act) in a cost of decreasing distance you travel with leap skills.
Blorf, you’re right, just went and tested. That’s what I get for trusting word-of-mouth info.
Candidate Trials are different, they’re a story mode instance rather than a dungeon instance, so you literally need to be on the same server and zone (main or overflow) to be invited to the instance.
Can you post a video of what you’re trying to do? I feel like there’s some information missing here.
Pretty impressive, but does Entangle on boss #1 and Spirit of Frost really speed up a team over a guardian?
Also, wouldn’t the run be faster with a traited Signet of the Hunt instead of Quickening Zephyr?
Not doubting the ranger, but I’m just trying to analyze it. Could any experienced rangers help me out here? Thanks!
Marksmanship XI to get the signet active will only give you 50% more damage on one single attack every 30 seconds. Unless you meant Signet of the Wild, but that would still only be a 25% damage increase for a few seconds every 120, instead of whatever QZ is (higher) every 60 (not to mention the pet DPS increase). Plus you’d be giving up too much from either Skirmishing or Nature Magic to put that extra 10 points in Marks.
Signet of the hunt, if traited, gives you ONE shot at 150% damage. and it costs 30 points into Marksmanship to get it. In addition to this, it still have a long cooldown, considering the benefit and cost.
Quickening zephyr costs 10 points into Wilderness Survival, a trait line which is a must either way since the adept minor gives +50% endurance regen. Quickening zephyr lasts 6 seconds, thus allowing you to do more DPSs in a relatively short time. It also speeds up any animations, so its better overall, as it speeds up rezzing too.

How is Unscathed Contender+ Fiery Wrath 40% if aegis only gives 20% and wrath 10%? Are you including the Scholar’s buff or something?
Ask yourself why any guardian dps build should have 25 in radiance even when they don’t use sword.
Ah that’s right, Fiery Wrath + Radiant Power. Thanks.
It really sucks trying to get multiple backpacks when you only have one char in the 40s. As far as “rings dropping like crazy” that everyone always says, even if they it did rain rings in the 40s, there are too many kitten rings to be useful. Red Ring, Crystalline Band, and I guess I’d accept the Zerk/Valk rings. That’s 4. Which means even worse RNG for getting a ring you can actually use.

Also, wouldn’t it help the group’s DPS more if the mesmer picked up the other hammer? The guard or thief is doing more damage with it, but it’s not as much of an increase over their regular weapon as it is for the mesmer and they have plenty of base damage modifiers too.
Out there claiming that swapping the two thieves for guardian and engineer can do it faster.
Congrats, that’s pretty awesome.
mace/shield/staff sentinel/cleric’s guard
I heal my team I’m a paladinnnnnnn
The optimum support role is to give out as many offensive boons as possible to your party (might and fury), as much vulnerability as you can to your enemies, and pump out as much damage as possible while staying alive.
There are a couple guardian builds than fit this quite nicely. “Cleric’s support healer” isn’t one of them. You are slowing your team down.
not everyone who thinks some people need to get over their ridiculous hangups about DnT is an “obal zealot”
Sometimes its not even when the creator is kicked… I made a HotW party once, we kicked this AFK Charr and the whole party just imploded. Everyone out of the dungeon, half quit cause they didnt want to go again…
It has nothing to do with the party, it’s about the instance. There is no party leader, only an instance creator.
Casual isn’t about the amount of time you play, it’s how you spend that time.
There is currently not. GW2DB just pulls items from the dat files, which means that one is just buried in there somewhere. Accessories and Amulets currently cannot be upgraded to 10 AR.
Doesn’t he only do the shake and spider spawn move if you’re at range?
That’s like going to your manager and asking for some OT shifts and he says “Well, you can come in and work if you want to, but I’m not paying you for it.”
Those little guys are good for the loot and sigil stacks, but skipping the berserkers is easy. Just run to the back left corner of the Alpha room and the only thing that should follow you is the wraith.
Also, do a 2 count dodge for the plague carriers when they do the animation for their explosion move. People always be gettin hit with all those conditions, lol.
I always thought Smite was doing multiple shield ticks to the shield. Live and learn!
+1 for account-wide. Fractals already kitten you in enough ways (kittenty RNG for rings and weapons, account-bound exotic drops, time/reward ratio terrible). Let’s get rid of this one thing.
We wiped on the worms near the beginning, we wiped on the spiders, we wiped at least once on every boss. Wasn’t a case of teamwork either, because we were all synced well. Both the warriors and the engineer were glass cannon, and the guardian was set up as buff support. My necro was set up for condition support (cleansing them, throwing all of them on foes, etc). It’s odd because a few months ago this would never have happened, we’d have wiped all the enemies without problems. I don’t remember reading about a buff to TA, but just from fighting in there I can tell it seems like they buffed quite a few things.
They didn’t buff TA.
why do you want multiple difficulty levels when you’re only gonna play on Easy
Every hit. Entangle, warhorn 4, and LB skills ( 2 and 5) hit multiple times.
