Hi everybody! I notice a lot of folks seem to have issues with something they might not even realize is a problem! When you post a youtube video link to this forum, the forum code automatically creates a space in your post for an embedded video. But since embedding is not enabled, there’s just a big ol’ gross block of white space with nothing there. This white space persists even when people quote your posts. I’m a big ol’ dummy, some browsers doesn’t show the embedded video! Like so:

I would think a thief using blinds could do this particularly well.
I’ve talked with a thief who farms it. Combination of Ambush Trap, Scorpion Wire and Pistol Whip. His cooldowns were way lower than mine as well, meaning Thief is probably in the best position for farming it as fast as possible.
People need to not use the word exploit for everything. An exploit is not a general term for everything that might be nerfed in the future.
Did you all find some mechanism that prevents you from dying? Like are you glitching under the world? If so, that would be an exploit.
Are you fighting and winning? Using normal game mechanics? That isn’t an exploit.

Just because the devs (should I say Dev, it seems like Mr. Hrouda consistently undervalues the power of reflection skills) didn’t intend for us to beat him this quickly doesn’t mean it’s cheating to do so.
This video is plain bullkitten, I have exact same items, runes, sigils, skills and build as he and I even used +10% crit dmg food and I still can’t kill him fast enough, I only lost my kittening gold and badges for exotics not mentioning 80 tickets, I’m attaching screenshot as a proof. If you want farm gold then pavilion zerg is the best and you can even use mf gear.
No, you don’t have “exactly the same” stuff as I did. Perhaps you transmuted your sword/focus, but those look like rares and not exotics. Your backpiece is not ascended, and there’s no berserker spineguard above masterwork as far as I know. You’re using Bagh Nakh and Rurik’s Royal Signet, which are not berserker (although I am using a Zerk/Valk amulet). If I had to hazard a guess you’re probably not using Runes of the Scholar. You are probably not using the same trait setup as I am either. Your utility bar also doesn’t have Wall of Reflection, which is a key component here. I use foods even though they’re not necessary- a maintenance oil to improve crit chance and a butternut soup variant for more crit chance and crit damage. There are also strength boosters to help, and of course you could easily build up Bloodlust or Perception stacks below (I recommend Bloodlust, since with all the above setup and consumables you’ll be very nearly at 100% crit anyway).
An easy way to tell if your setup is right is to see how much damage Dunwell takes from a reflected Volley and your Shield of Wrath explosion. Volley should hit between 8 and 11K. Shield of Wrath should hit for like 5K if it doesn’t crit and 11K or so if it does. Watch the video and try again, perhaps post a screenshot of your combat log if you still can’t get it down.

Well if you don’t have a teleport a pull works just as well, since his first teleport puts him right on top of your starting position. I can do it about the same speed (cooldowns included, so basically one kill a minute) on ranger, mesmer, and thief. It’s probably possible on warrior and engineer as well. I don’t know about elementalist but I’m sure lightning hammer could probably get it done.
But other than the class, zerking it up as much as possible is key. I suppose condition-heavy builds could do it too, but it’ll take longer.
Deadeye 1hit is going through my guardian invunr elite skill, wall of reflection, and even dodge rolls. Is this normal? What am i supposed to do when he fires from the opposite end?
I bet the devs don’t post here much because the dungeon forum community is full of people that are pretty rough on the devs. We’re a bit of a pack of ravenous jackals compared to general forum or others where the devs get kid gloved quite a bit.
Why you would ever run to the forums, then post that your making 15g/hr doing this is beyond me, tell your friends and farm it yourself. Bringing it to the attention of the forums is just asking for a nerf…
Well my best hour yet gave me back 290 Resplendent Watchwork Boxes, less the cost of tickets (4 silver per ticket) that’s ~6 silver per box for roughly 17.4 gold. I did get two charged lodestones this time, which increases my haul quite nicely.
The “risk” taken with those 4 gambits on is essentially nil. The worst thing that can go wrong is if you accidentally try to use Flashing Blade before you’re in range, then you won’t teleport to him and you might end up dropping your wall at the starting point if your muscle memory has taken over. But you can recover from that by using Renewed Focus to walk through the mine. You’ll need to probably pop your other virtues to recover from the Volley in the middle at that point, and then he’ll get off his first teleport. You can use Focus #4 at that point to nullify his Kill Shot, at then Flashing Blade should be off cooldown so you can TP to him again and finish him off.
Of course all that can be avoided if you just walk in range of Flashing Blade and do it correctly to begin with. You can add more damage like the 5% boost consumable or stacks of Bloodlust, but it really doesn’t matter since the limiting factor is the wall/shout cooldown.
Well after refinement and getting my routine down I’m up to a full stack of boxes in about 45 minutes, which returns 25G, less the 9G it took to buy a stack of tickets gives me 16 gold within an hour of running, leaving 10 minutes or so to get up, stretch my legs, grab a snack, etc.
Would really like a dev response to let us know if this will be looked on as a bannable exploit.

My point is playing Excel Wars 2 is only the first part if you’re trying to prove a point like this. The second bit is actually demonstrating, something that as far as I know the Engineer Fan Club hasn’t done.
Brazil demonstrated the validity of swapping a warrior for his Ranger build. Kitsune demonstrated the validity of LH ele. That’s the difference between someone that wants to be taken seriously and someone that’s full of doo-doo.
We swapped one warrior for elementalist. And he did showed solo engineer dps.
I have no argument against elementalist being considered top tier. Have you swapped a warrior for engineer yet?
Where are the engineer-based speed clear videos? How much faster can a team go through, say CoE p3 with an engineer than without? Why has no one shown any actual accomplishments with an engineer? All I see are these arguments based on spreadsheets. But if there’s a discrepancy between the theory and the empirical results, either the theory is wrong or there’s something fundamentally broken about the class.
The excel charts mean kitten-all if you can’t put them into practice.
You’d have to be very lucky with lodestones to make 20G/hour, but I did make 16G in the last hour (plus 2 sovereign skins). Would be more if people didn’t steal my arena.
Yeah, so here’s what’s happening on my gauntlet farm. I take 5 tickets, I load up 4 gambits and fight the guy. I win, making 5 boxes back, which gives more than 15 sprockets and 20 silver back, allowing me to purchase the 5 tickets all over again plus pocket the change as profit. Not to mention every so often getting a lodestone drop.
That’s generating endless returns, provided I can continue to win. I don’t even need the gambits, since one ticket and one win gives you more than 1/5 the purchase price of a pack of 5 tickets. It’s just faster with gambits and essentially effortless once you’re skilled enough to do it right.
I just want a clear response from Anet stating that it will or will not be viewed as an exploit.

As long as you’re not hacking/glitching/cheating you’re not exploiting.
Are you farming Subject 7 by chance?
Nope, though my kill time for mine is only a little bit quicker than the warrior’s on Subject 7. Waiting for my cooldown is the main thing limiting me, that and random losers wandering in to my arena and getting killed on whatever. 4 gambits and a fifth token for the fight, I’m doing about 5 fights every 6 minutes assuming no interruptions.
And your statement about “hacking/glitching/cheating” isn’t really accurate, see: snowflake jewelry bans.
That’s the main incident making me hesitant to continue doing this farm. That recipe and salvage was not what Anet made it out to be, and once the market caught on the prices equalized to the point that it was not nearly as profitable anymore. And lots of people were banned for doing something that was right there in the game, right out in the open, no glitching/exploiting needed.
Dev response please. If I were to find a particular gauntlet opponent that I’m really good at beating very quickly, would it be considered an exploit to use lots of gambits and defeat them over and over, opening the watchwork bags and using the sprockets and gold to buy more tickets and continue the process?
I’m hesitant to continue because the response on whether or not gaining lots of gold (for me between 7-9 gold per hour depending on lodestone drops) has been considered an “exploit” or not is usually pretty arbitrary. I mean, it’s one thing if a nerf comes down to this. That would be sad, but being banned for doing something that’s right there in front of us would be completely unacceptable.
The funny thing is, there was a video, I don’t think it was Guang playing because he only plays with the Excel client, but it was some engineer back before the Kit Refinement nerf doing a solo DPS demonstration…

Yeah, that was me, and I blew Strife up pretty hard. Basically I did a sustained DPS test, and Strife apparently doesn’t understand what sustained DPS is so he did a burst demo, which I also beat.
I also don’t know why you are still asking for videos when Brazil uploads videos pretty much every day of him using my builds (or similar) blowing up your miserable warrior numbers.

If he’d just make a video or get someone else to make a video he wouldn’t have to put up with people calling him wrong.
But of course what happens instead, is he claims things and then gets mad when people don’t take them face value.
Also, many mouses and keyboards would be destroyed should engi become a part of the meta.

This thread is exactly what happens when casuals try to theorycraft about things like DPS.
Also, engineer DPS is fine, it’s about on par with ranger + pet. It’s just not as obvious because about 20% of it is in the form of bleed damage. They also do just fine in an organized group comp, their ability to solo-stack might and vuln for the entire party means you can go full DPS on everything else. Case in point, a single grenade engie stacks the same amount of might kitten warriors with FGJ and as much vuln as 3 warriors with A/M and OMM, and deals about equivalent DPS as any of those warriors.
They also have a ton of group healing, condition removal, and snares by default, which may not always be necessary but it certainly doesn’t hurt. Considering how many people bring guardians just for PoV, and considering that engies can remove conditions faster and more often (albeit without the convert, which honestly isn’t that good), I’m surprised more people don’t demand engies for fractals and Arah and whatnot.
I suspect it’s because most engies are just bad.

It’s a Vision of Mortality. I think you’re having culling issues due to the amount of players below you.
Yeah I finally realized it’s the clones exploding when they get near. It should still show in the kittening combat log. Also, thanks Anet for not making this instanced.

Wall can work but Feedback is more reliable. Now taking a mesmer over another guardian is debateable, but if a guardian had both Wall and Feedback as utility skills, which one would you use?
Berserker gear is the best gearing for any and all dungeons. If someone kicks you for berserker gear they’re frankly terrible.
If you don’t know the dungeons and you aren’t confident in your dodgign ability you will down and die fairly often at first. Some people would suggest starting with Knights or Valkyrie and replacing gear with berserker as you improve, but personally I think learning the hard way and jumping straight into berserker is better as it will insure you don’t get bad habits from using more defensive setups.
