I hate hate hate the attempted insult of “cookie cutter” builds. There’s a build that offers optimal DPS (dependent on situation), and there’s everything else. Trying to criticize people for not, like…thinking outside of the box, maaaaan, is so idiotic. Don’t kitten with a winning formula. It’d be like criticizing people who calculate planetary motion by using that “cookie cutter” general relativity. God, why don’t you show some originality and just use Kepler’s laws of motion, ugh.
You laugh at me because I’m different. I laugh at you because you’re all the same.

but it wouldn’t be guangposting without ridiculous hyperbole
Would be nice if we had a title called ""dungeon" (replace dungeon with arah/hotw/coe, etc..) expert" and you get said title if you do the dungeon more than 50 times, it would help by filtering out really bad pugs.
I know players that have full arah armor and weapon sets, refer to it as their “favorite” dungeon, and still believe that spending 10-15 minutes on lupicus is normal and acceptable.
Apparently at Anet the left hand and right hand are no longer on speaking terms.
This is amateurish.
A year after release and the most prestigious dungeon weapons in the game still have white weapon icons.
What the everlasting kitten, Anet. Priorities, I guess.
Carrying pugs would be a LOT easier if this game had a “Typing…” notification like many, many other MMOs have.
Can’t count the number of times I’ve been typing out an explanation only to have someone go all LJ and just kitten it all up.
It doesn’t sound like he plays the game at all.
So, short answer: no
long answer: “what’s a dungeon lol”
hyperbole doesn’t serve this argument well
I don’t even mind people running kitten builds/gear if they’ll LISTEN and understand that I really am trying to help when I explain why what they’re doing is wrong. But lately all I get is “zerk armor sucks” and “whatever condi is fine” and kitten like that and it makes me want to do the Jay and Silent Bob thing to people on the internet
We had a 20 min arah p4 using 4 rangers + 1 engi. Noone of us was used to those character so I believe 3 ramger + 3 necro is quite viable.
Everything is “viable” with exploits.
We did not exploit a single boss.
The paths to those bosses, however…
who are you to tell me my party of 5 rabid engineers shouldn’t be able to clear every dungeon
See well that would be stupid party composition to take regardless of what you’re doing. But it would be trivial to include a ranger and a necro in the group.
Name professions that aren’t “viable” in TA F/U and we’ll make a group to go do it. But when we clear it in your non-viable professions you have to prostrate yourself before the entire sub-forum and admit you’re completely clueless.
Using broken mechanics on broken professions to beat a broken fight isn’t “knowing what you are doing,” or even “skill,” it is simply using the SAME strategy to clear all the Pve content.
Let me break it down for you.
Stack.
Reflect.
Burst.
Evade.Your snobbery about this fight, or any fight in PvE, doesn’t really matter since you solve all of your problems with just these 4 “techniques.”
Can you beat it with Engineers, Necros, and a Ranger? Of course not, because you don’t have the access to those 4 things as easily.
It’s easy to brag when you play easy mode.
Whoa ho ho ho, this sounds like a challenge. I’ve got engie, necro and ranger zerked out, who wants to join me for a run?
does SSD actually help? I asked around at launch but the responses I got were mixed
Absolutely helps with load times.
what is this, “we’ve had our fun, now nerf this so no one else can do it?”
I’d suggest obal’s guide: http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/84006-guardian-video-guide-for-fractals-of-the-mist-shown-at-48/
I wanted to do a devpost liberation but no one seemed to want to join in
AC path 1 and 3, SE path 1 and 3, and HOTW path 1 are alll comparable length, and you should have no problem finding a group for those daily. But I would suggest just getting berserker gear once you learn the basics of how to play, you’ll be a much better player in the long run and less of a drag on your dungeon teams.
lol, I’ll give that one a +1
how has this entire thread not been infracted into the abyss yet lol
Jesus? Son, I’m talking about the One True God, Baphomet the Unclean
unless you picked wrong, then the real god is going to be super mad
uh actually I have extremely bad intentions
Yaki, Yaki, Yaki.
Back when I was in South Korea there used to be some awesome street food vendors selling yaki mandu, little fried dumplings. Man, you just reminded me of that stuff. Mmmmmmm.
There is plenty of valid prediction and scientific fact located in the pages of the Holy Qur’an. As stated in Surah 55, verse 33:
“O assembly of warriors and guardians, if you can penetrate regions of the heavens and Arah explorable mode, then prostrate them! You will not penetrate them save with DPS builds.”
but what if I’m only 98% sure after hearing you out
or what if you go above and beyond and I end up at 101%, do I owe you some money back?
Arah is supposedly part of the end game, and one of the only lvl 80 dungeons (with no downscaling involved). It has been a year since release, I can’t fathom why this kind of stuff hasn’t been fixed yet.
Same thing I do at work. Always leave a couple bugs unfixed.
Job security only works if you actually fix the things that need fixing!
Scarlet invades TA, TA now infested with nightmare court as well as aetherblades. Time gated events increases speedclear time to 27 minutes minimum. Final chest has a .02 droprate for an exotic, account-bound Scarlet mini. Daily bonus gold increased to 1.75G per path. TA reverts to normal after next Living Story update in two weeks.
One of the things that bugs me about the LS stuff is they way they sell it, “NO GAME HAS EVER ADDED CONTENT LIKE THIS”
Umm, City of Heroes much? After CoV dropped in I6, the Issue release schedule was quite frequent, and aside from the two that added expansion-levels worth of content, they were all free updates that changed the world you play in in actually significant ways.
it’s not like he did anything while he was here, who cares
sorry guys I’m not as kittening incredible at the game as you are, better talk kitten and condescend as much as humanly possible
It’s not hate/flame/whatever. I just don’t think taking dual sigils on warriors (and eles/engineers) have any point if you swap frequently.
sometimes I prefer to stay on the weapon to use my block or evade rather than swap just because I can. I don’t want to have to worry about what I’m swapping to in that case. I know it’s not optimal, but it worked (once out of 32,493 attempts) for me.
kids these days
sorry guys I’m not as kittening incredible at the game as you are, better talk kitten and condescend as much as humanly possible
it took me almost three months
Sorry about your crappy thread. Pinoy Pride.
I think the intention is to allow the stacks to stay if you simply swap weapons, but remove them (or make them decay, possibly) if you actually unequip the weapon and store it in your backpack.
Why this is even being contemplated as something that’s “broken” and needs to be “fixed” is beyond me.
With 3.5k power, Bloodlust stacks give 7.1% more damage.
So in that case it seems like it will be worth holding onto a bloodlust weapon in Arah but not in any night dungeon (night/slaying would win out). Although maybe for CoE it would work out better than Undead Slaying since there’s such a variety of creature types.
The changes they made to the story mode because everyone QQed about it being too hard were really awful, as well. Now all the mobs die in seconds but they didn’t adjust the spawn rate accordingly, so you wipe a group out and then stand there for what feels like an eternity waiting for something to happen. You’re right, it feels completely unfinished. Amateurish, even.
Good observation about the moving platforms, by the way. Have you tried planting objects there like banners/spirits, etc? I don’t know whether to laugh or be disappointed as they sail away into the distance…
I can’t remember what led to it (probably me telling them they were awful), but a couple people from a pug CoE group kicked me right after we killed the last Alpha but before the rewards could pop up. The conversation was happening way earlier in the run too, so they cooked up the plan long before they hatched it.
I chuckled.
I thought what that post was saying is that you can get to 25 stacks, store stacking sigil weapon in your backpack and still retain benefit of the stacks. Letting you equip a different sigil weapon for even more benefit.
Yes, and they’re upset about it (only god knows why), and Devon seems to be implying that a “fix” is incoming this year.
Later in the thread someone mentions that early on the tooltip for the sigils said that you would lose the stacks if you unequipped the weapon. Perhaps they meant for that to be the case all along but technical limitations put it low on the priority list.
Aside from a couple fights that are fun to try and see how quickly you can do them (Lupi, Alpha), every single dungeon run is just boring crap in the way of my reward. If there was a dungeon I could walk 5 steps into and hit F to collect 1 gold and 60 tokens I’d do that crap daily in a heartbeat.
But that’s not the intention of dungeons. The reward at the end if suppost to be because you put some effort into doing it. There comes a point when if its too easy to get the reward, then that reward shouldn’t be as high.
Dungeons exist in this game as a time sink for organized groups and a source of grind for tokens to get maxed out weapons and armor. Do you really think they were designed to be enjoyed like a walk on the beach several hundred (thousand for some groups/guilds) times over the course of the game’s lifespan?
They are not one-time content meant to be savored. They’re meant to be grinded over and over again.
I guess the question would be: Are 25 stacks of Perception or Bloodlust > +5% damage, and what are the conditionals? Time for people to get good and not lose their stacks
Personally I’d take the guaranteed flat stats over the easy-come-easy-go stacks. I can’t imagine Bloodlust or Perception winning out over the two handed setups of Night+Slaying, but I don’t tinker with the formulas much so maybe Nike or someone can weigh in on it.
Farting around on the Dev Tracker and saw this:
Fix the stacking sigils.
If you don`t have equipped the weapon with that sigil (on main or alternate slot) you MUST lose the stack.
Is like “a one more virtual slot for a sigil” if you can just charge it and change the weapon to your backpack and continue with that stacks AND another new effect from the new set of weapons equipped (in main or alternate slot).
That must be stopped because is a lot more damage for free from a sigil you dont have.
We are aware of this, but it is a non-trivial fix. We are hoping to make changes to this by the end of the year.
If what Devon says is true, it sounds like unequipping a stacking sigil weapon will remove your stacks in some way. How might this affect the builds that feature stacking and swapping weapons heavily? Would you see yourself just keeping the bloodlust/perception weapons on full-time instead of swapping to a Force/Night/Slaying weapon after building up? Or would it be easier and less hassle to just stick with the flat-boost weapons and absorb the loss of the stacks in other ways?
Aside from a couple fights that are fun to try and see how quickly you can do them (Lupi, Alpha), every single dungeon run is just boring crap in the way of my reward. If there was a dungeon I could walk 5 steps into and hit F to collect 1 gold and 60 tokens I’d do that crap daily in a heartbeat.
OP, how many times have you filled Hobby Dungeon Explorer, just out of curiosity
Can’t forget the record for slowest…. only 37min…
