So do the dungeons have different level scaling or can i do just any of them?

At level 80 you can go into any dungeon but you’ll need to reach the maps first, which is a run to them.

Theres 2 types of pvp. There’s spvp and there’s wvw.

Spvp, the gear is provided to you. No pve gear is used, but you’ll at least need to be wielding weapons and wearing armor of some level. You can be level 2 and using level 2 gear in spvp and you’ll be at the same level as a level 80. Use the crossed swords on your UI panel at top right to go to the pvp lobby. Then use the panel at center of your
UI to pick out your trinkets. You’ll need also to select your traits. You should be good to go then and play spvp

WvW uses pve gear. They sell gear there but the exotics you have are probably better.
The other places to get different exotic gear are dungeons (buy with dungeon tokens), from the trading post (gold) or with karma (which you don’t have)
Ascended gear needs laurels to craft and mats (which you don’t have) or drops, which takes playing time (usually in fractals, type of dungeon).

With this people and guilds are punished if the player reps his personal guild for a couple of minutes to put things in the inventory or if he has a wvw guild and a pve guild he has to not rep one of them even though he is doing wvw or pve with those guild mates.

Mursaat Outfit Incomplete

If the player is standing on an invisible riser, won’t that effect skills? It makes the players hit box or interaction area longer if it now extends below the feet. It seems to me that extending the hit box/interaction area to under the feet is bound to effect animations and whether or not the player will hit things during animations with the length extended like that. Right now all chars have the same hit box/interaction area. Won’t this mean that the outfit will change this?

As a thought experiment, what’s the difference between a (mount out of combat and a power build in combat) and a (speed boost build out of combat and a power build in combat) if the second one could be achieved with a button push to switch you between the two builds?

That’s essentially what the (mount and power build) is. It’s a button to switch you between a speed boost build and a power build.

Having the ability to switch builds with a keypress would be better than the current situation.

The problem with that though is that if you get attacked whilst running somewhere you’re stuck in your speed build. Depending on the situation that could be a very annoying thing to happen.

For the purpose of this analogy I specified out of combat for the speed boost, which meant you wouldn’t get stuck in it in combat.

But that’s undoubtably why mounts with speed boosts are not in game as it give the player a second (out of combat speed boost build) along with his (in combat power build) which would effect gameplay and balance if everyone had all power and no speed trade offs while fighting.

Almost all my character have some kind of speed boost that needs no maintenance whatsoever. I think only my Guardian does not.

Regardless, it sounds like you aren’t really asking for mounts, but just to have the base running speed increased. If so, you might consider abandoning this thread, and placing a post in the Stickied thread, ‘QoL Suggestions’. Mount threads never fare well.

Good luck.

I know there’s passive speed boosts, one way or another. The problem is that your build choices are either limited if you want to make use of them or you have to sacrifice power in some way, such as using traveler runes instead of something else.

I am well aware that those speed boosts can be great in combat. You generally do more DPS if you can get to your target faster. I’m only concerned about out of combat run speed though and I’m not a fan of having to sacrifice ability for convenience. It seems completely unnecessary to me.

And maybe that’s the point. The devs are willing for you to have speed boosts but you have to give something up on your build. Mounts with a speed boost means you can have your speed boost and your power build too.

In essence, you’re asking to have your cake and eat it too. Have speed boosts and the build without speed boosts. And that’s probably why they won’t put mounts with speed boosts in game.

I don’t see how it’s a problem if it only works out of combat though. You see, out of combat I can change my build to get that speed boost and then change it back when I’m done. But that’s redundant and annoying… so why not just make it standard.

You could. But how many people do that and how often. I’d say just about no one does which means my argument still stands. That the reason the devs aren’t going to give us speedy mounts is they want the trade off.

I’m not even asking for ‘speedy’ mounts. Something like a 25% increase to the base out of combat run speed would improve things a lot.

In fact.. most of the stick I’m getting here is because people are dead set on not having mounts so I’m going to edit this title to make it more clear is mostly about the speed.

Since 25% is within the range of speed boosts from skills then you might want to make an argument as to why players should get that 25% speed boost and not have to give up skills, traits, runes or time to switch out.

The argument is that it doesn’t work in combat.

After so many years of designing this game and reading the forums, I expect the devs are aware of this. Since it hasn’t moved them to add mounts with speed boosts yet then it might not be a strong enough argument.

Spirit Shards as a newer player

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Bruno.3812

Skill points or whatever they were originally called were automatically converted into spirit shards on lvl 80 characters with excess points long ago when shards came out.

The only way you can grind that 200 (and i’ve done it many times) is dailies, and converting tomes of knowledge on lvl 80 characters into shards. Basically how i look at it, I can make 3 from a daily, and about 5 a night in WvW from tomes.

gotta grind, and i don’t know any other way to do it faster with little time spent (I only play after work and kids go to bed, so my time spent daily is limited to about 3 hours a
night)

While I don’t have kids, I’m in a similar boat. I work all day, and after I come home and my wife and I get dinner cooked, finished, cleaned up, and then we go about our evening bedtime routine of showering and whatnot, we each get to play from 8pm – 10:30pm. That mostly means I have enough time for dailies and not much else. The
weekend at least allows us to play the entire day, so if I’m so focused I can grind out an entire WvW reward track… but still, the Spirit Shard return is pretty dismal.

I really envy you guys who’ve been playing for so long because this isn’t a problem for
you.

If you do pvp dailies, even in a pve friendly daily custom arena, youll get a tome every day to every other day that you can give to a level 80 for a spirit shard. That’s 15-30 more a month for doing dailies.

It’s great being able to glide on low level chars. It makes a big difference when doing map completion and leveling to be able to glide off any hill you come across. Makes leveling that much more fun as you actively look for tall places to glide off of.

It’s just not a good idea to make the raid story gated behind the permissions and time of other players.

Mursaat outfit

This outfit looks nothing like a mursaat, the only thing that makes it kinda sorta pass as a mursaat are the wings which aren’t even part of the outfit. The female version should be named something else if it’s not gonna look anything like a mursaat -_-

Sure, it’s not exactly like it… but it’s pretty darned close. Also, it’s worth noting that your screenshot is of a female, when the image your comparing it to is of a male…. So, that’s going to make a bit of a difference too…. at least if ANet wants to keep GW2 from
being R rated.

~EW

Well the way I see it is if I’m gonna spend almost 2,000 gems on a Mursaat outfit set I should look like a darn mursaat…but I don’t, it looks dumb. I think they could of got it closer than that, especially the top part.

I wouldn’t even mind if they flattened the chest on females and gave them a manly
chest as long as it looked like a mursaat…..

There were undoubtably female mursaat around somewhere and unless they floated around with their breasts hanging out they probably wore the female version of that
outfit.

All mursaat looked the same, none of them looked anything like the female version
of that outfit. And their cloths aren’t all ripped up on the bottom like gw2’s version of it either.

Annnnd all the mursaat we saw in guild wars were male, so of course they wore the
male version. So your point on that point….. is pointless.

I will give you on the ragged hems though. Arenanet has a ragged hem fetish or something and it shows up when it doesn’t make sense,

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Coventina_the_Matron Notice they call her a she, and
notice she wears the same armor as males.

Ok. Lol. Fair point.

However it just wouldn’t be workable in the game for human females to have male armor that exposes the nipples even if it’s a male breast. To many women wouldn’t like wearing armor that exposes the chest area like that and too many cultures are breast
sensitive. It would cause controversy in a way that female mursaat armor doesnt.

If it looked JUST like the male version I really don’t see how it would be an issue and if it is an issue maybe males shouldn’t wear it either then just to be fair.

It’s not an issue for males. Cultures and men aren’t sensitive to showing male nipples.

The thing is, I really doubt that most women would be attracted to an outfit that removes their breasts. There isn’t a real male equivalent to this situation but breasts are fairly central to many women’s self identity.

You’re right though. The outfit could have been stretched over to cover the breast area. Arenenets artists seem to follow templates when designing male/female armor and dont show a lot of gender boundary stretching.

Well I’m female and so are all of my characters and I absolutely adore the male aka the real mursaat version and I find the female version too plain and boring and so not like a mursaat at all. So if I can’t wear that version I don’t think anyone should get to, they should make them both cover the nipples and every inch of skin if the female version has to.

Individual women may like the male version but just look at the posts and threads that have asked for breasts on femCharr and femAsura as well as begging for them to wear feminine clothing, specifically dresses, to see that if they had made the outfit a male breast removing outfit that there would have been a lot of controversy and requests for a female version that keeps the breasts.

Srsly I don’t think it would be as big of an issue as you think but if it is then maybe they should just let everyone wear any version of every outfit so you can have a choice between the 2 and not be forced to wear the version you don’t like. That would work too.

True. But then that means men wearing women’s dresses (which I don’t have a problem with but others do) and women wearing male outfits that do expose their breasts, such as the Rainment of the Lich and possibly the Daydreamers Finery. Both of these situations would cause controversy and that’s not what arenanet is looking for.

I agree. It’s not a cherry red. Maybe it’s a cherry wood color not cherry fruit. The blog post describes the colors as autumnal, which are warmer colors rather than bright.

Any up-to-date profession statistics?

Arenanet doesn’t release stats. All we have is our personal observations. At best you can ask what professions do well in what type of content, such as open world, pvp, raids, wvw and what build in those areas

Ember Bay completion?

It dropped below 100%? I find that weird if they won’t let you get a reward for achieving 100% again…it should stay at 100%, even if the Hearts reset.

When they added new hearts to the starters maps it dropped below 100% but doing those hearts didn’t get you map rewards. Is probably easier to do it that way than to keep it 100% even if the hearts are not done.

well you all can say what you want,i might overreact a bit as well but at the end its a small thing that could have been fixed but it`s not.

and whatever you prefer to eat and where. it has nothing to do with the fact that most people probalby stoped reading quests texts at the end of vanilla wow, thats why there are also only at most 1 or 2 RP servers in most games.because people simply don`t care as mutch about the full story and don`t want to listen for 2 min to 2 npc`s talking to each other.

and sure there are other things to do and i was writing i did other things in the start until i needed masteries and did the story to finish it, but this does not change the fact that the skip button is not there now and would not be there when the story mode would be the last thing to do in the game for me.

Here’s the quote from Randulf’s post above, since it seems you didnt read it.

There’s a bigger technical issue—during “in game” scenes, the NPCs are moving around and things are happening (gadgets might be activating, props may be animating, etc.) and if you just skipped all that, it could lead to some really bizarre behavior. Trying to manually set a “failsafe” to teleport the NPCs, fire off effects, etc. to replicate what the world state is if the cutscene plays is extremely tedious and error prone.

That’s why the old style “dialogue cutscenes” (and the fancy but rare full blown cinematic sequences, like the Order movies and racial intros) are skippable, because we aren’t doing anything to the world while the dialogue plays, so skipping it doesn’t have any effect. We’ve moved away from those, because the in-game scenes are a lot more satisfying, but there’s a trade off.

Carnival Weapons

They sort of remind me of the beaded weapons you can craft. However the prices for these are way to high. It’s like arenanet wanted to say they had new weapons for the zone but wanted them only available for the few.

They could have made them rare drops instead. Even rare drops and account bound to keep them off the trading post and only for HoT players who go to Ember Bay.

If you’re only doing the story to get mastery points then of course it’s going to be boring.
Go off and do other things that give mastery points instead. No ones making you do the story. They said they can’t skip with the way it’s setup. Too many bugs.

As for your boosted gear for your necro, you do know you can get gear that suits you better dont you? Crafting, buying, dungeons, karma, wvw badges, pvp or wvw reward tracks. These all are places to get different gear.

You need a Skritt Worker Contract to open one Skritt Stash. The Skritt heart vendor sells them.

Are you happy buying rewards?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bruno.3812

Bruno.3812

Well, you can purchase things in the Heart of Thorns other maps for Map Currency alone. So, I guess it’s not a complete trend. /shrug

Doesn’t bother me; the very first thing I purchased in Bloodstone Fen was the Home Instance Node.

Hmm – I’m not sure about your first statement, I’m pretty sure all the vendors also want gold for items.

My question is why did you HAVE to pay 50g for the node? If collecting 10,000 unbound magic was seen as too trivial, Make it 20,000 or 30,000 but the rewards should surely be free?

Natto on the airship sells skills for unbound magic and bloodstone dust. The backpack and trinket vendor takes blood rubies and unbound magic.

Raids and build snobbery

It’s not playing sitting in the lobby criticising other players builds without seeing how the player can handle themselves firsthand.

It’s not playing posting on the forum complaining about other people either.

Oh I intend to, just wanted to gauge the response to see if there was more of a meta cadre on here or actual players!

And what exactly will the handful of answers from the people that post on the forums tell you? If everyone had said use the meta builds they wouldn’t be actual players?

Where can I buy the core game cheap?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bruno.3812

Bruno.3812

you don’t buy accounts, you buy the heroic edition which’ll run you $15-$30, honestly, it’s better to just buy the HoT expansion since it includes core game free and only runs you $5 more.

buying an account is breach of ToS, will not be tolerated, and if found you’ll have your account banned.

and the core game isn’t worth more than $10? where do you get that ridiculous conception? It has the value of the full core game which is $50, you unlock all account restrictions and can play the full game.

Halloween: Bring back the old Lion's Arch!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I agree it for it being brought back for Halloween. Old Lions Arch was an important part of the game and it’s something that new people will only partially see in an instance. Bringing it back will allow them to see what it used to look like and explore it as it used to be. It would be work for the devs but it has a large amount of nostalgia value.

food/utility costs.....!?!!!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bruno.3812

If the food is expensive it’s because other players also want it so demand is high. What are you asking arenanet to do? Increase the plant nodes to the point that the prices drop to really cheap? You’ve complained but you didn’t say how it could be changed.
