I can't buff all characters on 1 guild banner

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bruno.3812

Bruno.3812

I can use another account (I even already have a second “paid” account I could use, but would need another computer) and I can have someone else do it.

I do not get the buff and harvest. I am simply trying to get the buff on all my characters BEFORE I harvest. I can not do that, regardless of what I try.

That is the reason I am posting here. I do not think that is actually fair. I made the banner, I should be able to use it for all of my characters. But, at least so far, can not.

Thanks for the replies so far.

One possibility. Get a free to play account and then either use the way to have 2 accounts open at once (you’ll have to google it. I’ve forgotten what it’s called) or have the game set up on two computers. Set up the banner. Party up with the f2p account and have that char stand by the banner. Then log in on your main account and taxi over as needed.

Best staff skin?

The Bloody Prince Staff skin is pretty cool. It has a branched top and glows red when you use it. It’s currently 250 gold, less if you use a buy order. The Krytan staff glows yellow when you use it.

There’s a couple of karma staffs also. The Peacemaker has a pink particle effect coming off it and there is a karma Modinir staff that glows pink/red when you hold it. That one is sold by Forward Scout Greta in the Harathi Hinterlands.

Hopefully they’ll extend the maps into the areas that in Guild Wars 1 had these environments. Those maps are east and south of where we are now.

Localization in Russia

Unfortunetly extra localizations means delay in patches for everyone. Which isnt very good. Thats why many games with full Russian translation are a separate region with another publisher.

This is was not a problem in GW1 they translate main story, items, skills etc, and later patches releases on english so i don’t see so much problem. This is why Blizzard do better job and treat they costumers on all languages equally.

There’s a financial difference between the two companies. Blizzard makes billions and ANet makes millions. Blizzard can afford to do what ANet can not.

ANet might have translated a smaller game but this game has much more dialog and the costs to run this game are higher

Again, this is was not problem in GW1, just give on outsource text to good russian localization company like Softclub and problem is solved. I know many people who like games like GW2, Teso, FFXIV, Destiny but didn’t buy them until they get russian localization at least subtitles, so they keep playing WoW.

And again, you missed my point about Guild Wars 1 being a small lobby game with instanced maps and lower costs to run as opposed to a full fledged MMO, where the costs are higher and the dialog needed to translate is greater.

But just get a good outsource text localization company for Russian? How about all the other languages I’ve seen people asking for the game to be translated to? Do they all get translated with all the costs that come with it, or is Russian a special case?

And what special case with german or french? Maybe first we should understand differences in size of gaming markets and russian market not so small like “all other languages”. By the way, funny they translate Heart of the Thorn upgrade description, it’s like “give us your money, but we treat you like subhuman”

What was the special case with German or French? My guess is, it was from statistics on other similar games that the cost of translating to German or French would be recovered by the increased numbers of French and German players and adding a Russian translation would not increase the number of Russian players to offset costs. There may be a lot of Russian speakers, but only a few will play Guild Wars 2. Potential market size is not actual market size.

And to say a game not translating your language means you’re being treated like subhuman, comments like that don’t help your argument.

If you have ~21 minutes to spare every day, you’ll benefit more in the long run by buying extra accounts until you have 30. You’ll get over 2K gold every 28 days which comes to about 6.4K gems every 28 days. That’s roughly an $80 value.

30 accounts at say $30 each would be $900. It would take a full 11 months to break even at that rate. For a lot of people $900 is a fair amount of money to spend on a video game where it doesn’t start paying off until you have logged on every day on 30 accounts for 11 months in a row without fail.

Not if you bought them all when they were $10.

Yes. But I was responding to the post saying that you could buy them now at the non $10 price till you have 30 accounts in order to log on for gold.

Broken friends/follower/blocked system

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Bruno.3812

I like the fact the block list shows where such a player is. Recently I blocked a player for being extremely unpleasant (which happens far more often than it should) in PvP and after just quitting my 3rd match with him before it even started (which I really don’t like to do) I just stopped queuing when he showed up in Heart of the Mists, queuing only when he was already in a game.

Now as to stalking, isn’t that banable?

I’m not particularly fond of the follow list, but that’s just because it mildly annoys me to have a list half of which is probably people who don’t play anymore.

And if someone on your friend list is bothering you, maybe he shouldn’t be on that list anyway.

There’s two sides to a block, and they don’t have to be equal in what they do.

If you block them, then you may have good reason to want to know where they are and if they are logged in, so that can stay. However the opposite isn’t true. If you block them then they have no reason to know where you are and if you are logged in, so blocking them should block information to them if they have you friended. If blocks are mutual then neither side should be able to see the others login and map.

Free unlocks for LWs3?

Bruno.3812

In all honesty Odin, I agree with you. In my opinion, if you have HoT or the base game, then by virtue of logging in on during the window of opportunity, then yes you should have LS3 unlocked and all you need to play it. If your only F2P or you missed the window, then you should be able to buy the episodes off the gemstore and play, but that is not the route anet chose.

If they only have the base game and new Living Story episodes are in a new map, then how can they play it?

Why magic carpet isn't a glider?

Possibly because it will require a different animation (a sitting animation) than the current gliding animation. It will require extra work and possibly they don’t want to bother with it at this time when there’s other gliders they can sell for the same number of gems but less work to make.

I googled it. It appears to be one of those fad dances that springs up, is a craze for a while then dissapears. Dab: dance. The problem with making an emote out of a passing fad is that few recognize it now, as seen by this thread, and once the fad is over with it will be a strange emote that no one at all will know what it means.

Old Gathering Tools

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bruno.3812

Bruno.3812

You guys mean to tell me all gem shop gathering tools are supposed to work on all characters simultaneously without having to juggle the tool between characters?

No. You only get one per purchase. You have to juggle them around no matter what (or put them in shared inventory slots).

That’s why I was comparing it to the new items like the cosmic mining tool, which becomes your standard mining item for all characters at once, not just one at a time.

I don’t think that is the case. I don’t have the Cosmic, but I was under the impression that it was a single item that needs to be equipped to be used, so even though all your characters can use it only one can use it at a time.

Unless I’m reading both the in game description of the item in the gem shop and the description on the gw2 wiki, I’m pretty sure it works simultaneously on all characters.

If the new mining tool had a different and improved functionality that allowed it to be used on all chars without first going through the account bound slots or juggling through the bank they would have charged more than the standard 1000 gems for it and made a big deal about it in a blog post.

Hero challenges are locked for all new accounts, paid or free, until one char on the account is level 11. It’s been that way for months, if not a year or more.

All accounts, paid or free, have access to all the starter zones. Each starter zone has one waypoint unlocked.

I don’t think that leaping into the endgame at the start of playing a MMO is the best idea. You miss out so much by doing that. I think you’d be better off either putting that char aside for a while and playing with a brand new char or sticking to the lower level maps for a while before trying out the harder expansion area.

Well, he did say “I want to make Eternity, but I won’t get it but You will get!!! If You don’t belive, Your loss!!!” So he’s not saying that he will get Eternity. He’s saying he wants to make it using his Sunrise and the other person’s Twilight. Then he will have Sunrise and Twilight skins and the person he sends Eternity to will have both skins and Eternity also.

Shared Inventory Slot Feedback [merged]

Although I agree they are pricey, I now have two slots and they are convenient. My only gripe is a feature of this slot feature. All my bags are now closed when opening my inventory. Is there a way to keep the bags open permaneantly until, as an example, an option is unchecked or I missed something somewhere.

Try removing all bags from your inventory (except your starter backpack of course) and then putting them back in. That fixed the problem for me.

"Taken" names

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Bruno.3812

Frankly such name locks should NEVER be implemented in multiplayer games at all. The time for what that beginning programer level design offers left years (if not decades) back.

It is one level of “realism” that I wish more games would be more cognizant about implementing.
I have zero issues if companies want to make it such that per your account, you can only have unique character names. Aka. Both Player A and Player B could have a character called "John", but neither A nor B could have a second character named “John”.

Bad idea.

What happens then if there are 1000 chars named John in the game and you want to email one of them but only know that the name is John? What happens if someone sends items to John but instead the items go to John? Support won’t help in this sort of situation. They’ve already said emailed items are considered gifts.

Bruno.3812

The parties in question are satisfied, let it go already

No. This is not about the fact that the OP and Anet are both happy with the outcome of this situation. This is about the fact that Anet first attempted to strip the OP of both gold and items, and hoped he wouldn’t complain about it. It is only because of the uproar on Reddit that Anet was forced to go beyond sending him “We’re right, you’re wrong” e-mails and actually do something to rectify the situation in a manner that is fair to the OP.
This is a serious issue that needs to be resolved on Anets side, and other players, as well as potential players, have a right to know that this sort of unethical practice takes place at Anet.

You’re making the assumption that Anet knew they were wrong the entire time which doesn’t appear to be the case.

I think the problem is that Support made the assumption that they were right the entire time, and failed to actually look at the facts that the OP gave them to show that they were wrong in spite of multiple back and forths on the issue, then Support closed the discussion down.

Thank you the information. It was very disturbing to think that the trading post was not a safe place to sell items and that ANet could remove gold and not restore items from innocent accounts, unless a fuss was made as shown on that thread. Perhaps you should go back to that thread and state exactly what was finally done and what the policy is for items bought with RMT gold as the thread ended without this information being clear.

And this is why these situations shouldn’t be posted on Reddit of all places. Now you have to spend EXTRA time to fix the situation that has already been dealt with.

complete time waste.

Or….

It’s an opportunity for them to clearly state the policy regarding RMT transactions and when accounts will be sanctioned. As far as I know this has never been stated and unless openness and clarity is bad, then this is a good place for them to get their message out.

They cannot even agree on a refund policy, what makes you think they can agree on a RMT/TP policy?

As far as I can tell they do have a refund policies depending on the item in question, but they also make exceptions in some cases. Players might not be happy with the policies and that exceptions make the policies look unclear, but it doesn’t mean they don’t have one.

Edit: post on another thread after this one.

Gaile Gray Refund Policy
There is no standard answer to this question because, in order to be as fair and reasonable as possible, each situation is reviewed and resolved on a case-by-case basis. So whatever the speculation about “this is policy” or “that thing happened to my friend” the fact is: If you have questions about your personal request, please discuss with Customer Support, and they will investigate the matter and resolve it to the best of their ability.

Inactive XP-Bar

Bruno.3812

I like the idea of receiving the current Map Bonus reward, though I’m not sure what one would receive if one happened to level up in a Starter Zone or City.

They could make it so once you have achieved all the xp needed for your masteries in tyria/HoT (or when you hit level 80 for non-HoT players) your xp bar is replaced by a zone reward progress bar, which is increased slowly with xp gain (in addition to the large amounts of progress from completing events).

They could even add an interface when clicking on the bar that would show all the rewards and your progress. It’d be much better than the frequently broken reward preview on the world map.

I think this is a great idea.

Being able to see what your progress is and how far you are to your next reward would be an incentive to do more in a map, especially for people who are just passing through while farming.

Hey guys; Chris is out for the week but I’ve been looking at this and the bottom line is that this was a single incident that was mishandled when we removed the gold before looking deeper into the account’s behavior.

We made things right with the player because it is not our desire to punish someone who clearly took advantage of a buyer who didn’t check their source. They did not engage in RMT activity and should not have had their gold removed which is why we gave it back.

On the other hand when this happens – An account buys something worthless for a large sum – it is almost always RMT activity but it still falls on mine and Chris’ teams to investigate the account before removing the gold.

If you (as players) engage in fair gameplay you should feel confident that neither CS nor GS are aiming to take action on your account – but we make mistakes. If we do; reach out and we’ll fix it. You all know me well enough by now to know I’m going to do right by you.

Actually, as far as I can tell from what was said on the thread by the OP, they didn’t give the gold back. They eventually gave the items back, which the OP relisted, but not the gold.

So, if they didn’t give the gold back is it now policy to remove gold from innocent accounts if TP items were bought with RMT gold, and then give back the items?

KDB Daewoo: sales warning for HoT

I would’ve bought HoT if it was available without the base game and I could just buy the expansion for 30-40 bucks. Right now I’m waiting for it to go on sale otherwise I don’t think it’s worth the money

Since you’re willing to buy the expansion + base game for ~35$ or buy the expansion alone for ~35$, then your problem isn’t with the inclusion of the base game but that you don’t like the price, which is a different thing altogether.

You can check the various retailers periodically or wait till the next expansion when both the base game and HoT are bundled in with it for free.

I crafted to 400 on cooking while leveling because you can get 7 levels on it and if you use the guide that uses a lot of karma food, it’s not that expensive. Plus cooking is useful as you can make your own buffs and get extra exp from using cheap food. That’s really the only one I would recomend until you reach 80 and want to level crafting to max for specific exotic or ascended gear.

Here is a guide to maxing cooking using karma food (as well as cheap routes to maxing all the other crafting).

In general, crafting doesn’t make you money because just about everyone has crafting leveled. So there’s a lot of competition and the prices of items made is low, especially the ones that people make large numbers of in order to progress their crafting. Personally I wouldn’t bother with it too much while leveling.

After you get the crafting maxed out though it is possible to make gold from it but since everyone else who has crafting and is trying to make gold that way, the opportunities to make gold usually don’t last long and you have to find another.

imo, the main use is to make ascended gear at max level and maybe make food buffs. Possibly some niche crafting as it becomes profitable.

There is something I hear a lot….why is my bar not moving? I have points but have not spent them yet.

Well, I found out that once you get enough points to spend on any given mastery that you have chosen to “train,” you need to actually spend them before you can collect any more. I could not figure out why mine stopped after a time until someone told me this.

So double check those items you have check to learn (train) and see if you can complete them. If so, that might be why you are not acquiring any more yet. Seems you have to spend what you get before moving on to an new item to “train.”

I think it does, but it selects a random other line to start training. For example, when I finished up my pack mastery line but before I gave it the mastery points, it started putting the exp gained on the fractal mastery line. What it won’t do is start putting exp on the next successive one of that mastery line.

Yes. An char of the right level is a work around. However it’s also useful to have a spare char to act as a storage mule. For 800 gems and buying the bags you get up to 100 storage slots for items you don’t use on a daily basis, which is a better deal than buying a 30 slot bank tab. Park it at a jumping puzzle for a daily harvest and jump to pvp or wvw once daily and you have storage and access to the level mats you want.

I’d much rather ANET fix their economy.

Sounds great. I’d love that too. And while I’m waiting (and while you’re waiting) for them to do something that makes the mats you want drop when you want or for them to remove the mats they recently added to damask, I’ll be opening up containers on my level60 and salvaging and selling those mats to you, and making pretty good gold too.

  • Wintersday is scheduled to end on January 12, 2016.
  • We will be leaving the Festive Imbiber achievement active throughout the year.
  • We will not be able to change the text that indicates it’s a Wintersday-only achievement, but you will be able to continue to imbide (in moderation, please – think of the dolyak children!) to gain that achievement.

Raid shard reward?!?!?!

@Bruno – I don’t think he was referring to NOT getting shards for failing. I read the original post as the rewards for succeeding are not high enough. It sounded like the OP wanted to kill 3 bosses and get to the cap for the week.

K. The previous post was a bug fix that reduced the numbers upon success. I thought that one might have had something to do with his complaint.

Ya, but the rewards pre-bug weren’t 30+ shards per boss were they? Which is what you would need to max out weekly if you one shot all three bosses.

K. Since they weren’t relevant, I deleted the posts.

You have a year to buy what you need after the holiday farm is over.

But you will not be able to farm the gifts after, therefor stopping the suply thus increasing the price if demand stays the same.

If demand remains the same. But it won’t. It can only go down after the holiday ends as more and more people finish or quit trying to get it. There will be the presents from all the accounts that have the tree to continue adding to the supply as well as any flippers who buy now and relist later.

Maybe they’re spacing them out for 2 reasons besides just designing them. One is because the new ones have the crafting quest line that needs to be created and that takes time. The other is what it would do to the prices on of mats on the trading post if all had come out at the same time. Instead of having the old set and the 3 new ones it would be 2 new sets all competing for the same mats.

No scribing station at the Guild Initiative

I haven’t checked since I don’t do scribing but I thought the Guild Initiative was the Guild Hall for those without a Guild Hall. Seems strange there is no scribing function there. I guess they figure that those without a real guild hall don’t need the scribing function.

OMG Awesome !!!! Thanks Anet

I was pointing out that if you have to play to pay then it’s by definition not free to play.

So what is it if you do not have to pay to play GW2?

Lol. Typos.

Sorry. I wasn’t trying to point out typos. I really am curious as to what you would call it if someone can play GW2 without paying anything. I personally would call that free to play because free to play does not necessarily mean free access to everything. I am unaware of any free to play game that does not charge for something.

If people have to pay for the expansion to access new maps and professions, just like any other non f2p games, then it’s not free to play for them. I don’t really consider the f2p accounts as truly representative. They have numerous restrictions that can only be lifted by becoming pay to play and are actually more an extended trial version of the game.

Maybe its just me, but if one can play…for free…then free to play seems fairly accurate. It is after all F2P (Free to play) not F2PE (Free to play everything).

Not a big deal though. To each his own.

No. Not a big deal. It’s more terminology and how it’s packaged. I consider it an extended trial version as that’s really what it is with all its restrictions. However for the purpose of pulling in new people, the term free to play was probably considered more useful by marketing and they decided it would attract more people, with the expectation that once they are here and start playing they’ll upgrade to buy to play to remove all those restrictions.

OMG Awesome !!!! Thanks Anet

They have numerous restrictions that can only be lifted by becoming pay to play and are actually more an extended trial version of the game. If they ever want the expansion, the Revenant, the new elite professions, the mastery system, more than 2 char slots, complete access to guilds, restrictions on chat removed, restrictions on trade removed, etc, etc, they have to become buy to play and I would bet most serious f2p players do so, sooner or later.
