The Pale Tree cannot be the elder dragon itself, because the Pale Tree was a seed at one point. This means something bigger “gave birth” to the Pale Tree.

The Pale Tree may very well be a dragon minion, however.

Aftermath

The Pact expelled the invaders and saved the city of Divinity’s Reach. But with thousands of deaths, this will have an everlasting affect on history.

1) Queen Jennah is universally viewed as a failure – The Watchknights were her “gift” to humanity. However the Watchknights led to Clockwork Chaos, which killed more humans than they ever protected

Queen Jennah was also at fault for not preparing the humans for this onslaught. She was the one who directed all the human resources in support of the Pact, which weakened the human defenses for itself.

Many people now call Queen Jennah “soft” and not strong enough to protect humanity.

2) Public protests – For weeks after this invasion, the civilian population will held protests against the rule of Queen Jennah. They want her replaced by Minister Caudecus.

Due to public pressure, and to avoid a civil war, Queen Jennah abdicated her throne 2 months after the invasion. Kryta is now a republic, the first in known history.

3) Minister Caudecus becomes prime minister of the Kryta Republic– His rule is governed by a policy of “humanity first”. He greatly reduced his support for the Pact. These resources would instead go toward improving the human army and technology. His stance toward the Charr will also grow increasingly hostile.

4) Defensive upgrades in both Divinity’s Reach and Ebonhawke – It is clear that modern technology have rendered the huge walls of the cities obsolete. As a result huge improvements to both cities were made soon after the invasion.

5) Weakening of the Pact – Many human heroes stays with the Pact and their respective Orders. However the Kryta Republic no longer officially support the Pact. With the withdrawal of human nation’s support, the Pact lost a lot of its funding and manpower. The human’s growing hostility with the Charr nation further weakens the Pact.

Here is my prediction of what will happen in the near future.

Background:

Scarlet and the Aetherblade has stocked up a huge army for the upcoming battle:

-50 Airships – these airships can be used to drop bombs onto cities and parachute troops into the city.
-100s of Dredge tunneling machines – these machines dug underground tunnels and then burst out from underground. The machine itself can carry only 3 or 4 soldiers. But troops behind them can use these tunnels as walkways to quickly get into a besieged city.
-1000s of Clockwork Chaos, Twisted Nightmare fighting machines – these machines are the corrupted version of the Watchknights. Now they obey Scarlet and kill all humans without mercy.
-1000s of troops of Aetherblades, Molten Alliance, Inquest and Nightmare Court

The Battle:

On the day of the attack, everything looks peaceful in Divinity’s Reach. Shops just opened in the morning sun. But unknown to the city’s inhabitants, death and destruction are just minutes away.

A child was playing with her friends, when she noticed a huge shadow on the ground. She looked up, and she saw a huge airship. She has never seen an airship before…

And that’s when the first explosion happened. And the next. And the next. The carpet bombing of Divinity’s Reach has began.

The people of Divinity’s Reach has been awakened by the sound of modern warfare. The huge walls of Divinity’s Reach and its army is no longer enough to keep its people safe. Technology has overcome the concept of a front line.

Divinity’s Reach have a few airships of its own, and its crew fought bravely. However they were eventually overwhelmed by the Aetherblade’s airships.

The bombs keep falling all over the city. Nowhere is safe. People rushed into the sewage, the only place that offers any protection. But there isn’t enough room for everyone. In the madness some people were trampled to death.

Then suddenly the bombing stopped. And it was silent.

The people begin to get out of the sewage. They look up at the airships in awe. Did they ran out of bombs?

Suddenly there is a humming sound from underground. It got louder and louder, and suddenly Dredge war machines busted out from underground. A few soldiers exited out of them, and behind these machines come more troops from the tunnels.

People started panicking. People started running. The enemies shown no mercy, and killed everyone that they caught. The Seraphs was surprised by the sudden underground attack and were powerless to stop the onslaught.

The most frightening of their weapons was the Clockwork Chaos, or Twisted Nightmare. These machines are soulless, and were always the first to charge its way into civilians for the slaughter. After the war, many civilians will suffer from post-traumatic disorder from these cold blooded war machines.

The enemies now fights their way to the Asuran gates, and destroyed them to cut off reinforcement. They then move toward the royal palace to capture Queen Jennah.

The Pact Arrives

Due to the destruction of the Asuran Gate, the Pact had to walk their way to Divinity’s Reach. They sent their elite troops and heroes ahead in their airships. But by the time they got there, the whole city was already up in flames. Thousands of people were already dead.

The Pact airships then engage the Aetherblade airships in battle. This would be the first air to air battle in history. The Pact would come out victorious.

The Pact then engages the enemies on the ground. The battle was street to street, house to house in the city ruins. All around them was fire, deaths, screams, ruins and chaos. After much tough fighting, the Pact finally expelled the invaders from the city. Scarlet laughed as she escapes, saying her task here was more than completed.

Hah every class got terrible heals during that patch but at least Necromancers heal is good against gates. You are right Necromancer is not fun to play that’s why I never leveled one to 80.

“everyone” Guess you missed the Mesmer heal? That one is pretty sick, the Engi got a fun heal might not be the best but still, what every class got was a heal that could be used in different situations and different builds.

What Necromancer on the other hand got, was a heal that was WORSE than ANY of the heals we currently have. It is BOTTOM it has NO use in ANY build we have simply due to the fact that is ALOT worse than ANY of our other skills.

and you think “everyone” got bad heals, thats cute.

So, even with all this moronic talk about the class you don’t even have one that is level 80. That is VERY sad. proves that NOTHING you say means anything and has NO validity what so ever.

I realize that Signet you got wasn’t great, but its not a terrible heal, you think its bad because you already have one of the best heals in the game, but the Signet isn’t terrible.

Claiming your class is suddenly in the garbage heap because you didn’t get something incredibly overpowered like healing signet though makes people take your clkitten seriously though.

I mean cripes, you have people in this thread saying “Well, when we face a zerg DS sucks because it goes down so fast and we die”

Completely ignoring the fact that you know what sucks worse? Not having DS at all, and dying instantly in a zerg.

Cause that’s what happens to a lot of classes, If i’m on my necro and start taking lots of damage, I pop DS and I usually live because of it…

Other classes may not have DS, but they have other defensive mechanisms. Your point of “not having DS at all” is invalid, because every profession have something to keep themselves alive. Ride the Lightning, portal and stealth just to name a few.

BTW, Signet of Vampirism didn’t make necro garbage. Here is what made necro garbage:

Necro damage on January 2014 is a lot lower than it was on August 2012, even with Dhuumfire.

This is a fact proven personally by Nemesis, one of the best necro analyst, teacher and player around.

You may say “But I don’t remember those August 2012 necros being that scary back then!”

Simple. It was due to battle experience. Back in August 2012 most players had no idea what they were doing. Now on January 2014 the player quality of necros are much better, but the class itself is actually weaker.

Once again the only nerf to Necromancer was a 1 second duration decrease on Dhuumfire and the Enfeeble nerf, the rest of the changes have been a buff in WvW since July.

Watched the entire video and he doesn’t even mention WvW till 45 minutes in and doesn’t say anything except that Signet of Vampirism is useful there and stuff about his Guardian. Necromancer is still 10x stronger at condition and power builds in WvW compared to Spvp. Also he talks about all these damage losses but forgets the power of Tainted Shackles, Doom, and Spectral Wall especially in a Terror build.

So you are saying necro is 10X better in WvW than sPvP, and the skill Doom is one of your proves?

Doom, how exactly is Doom, a single target single fear skill, better in a 40 vs 40 zerg fight than a 1 vs 1 fight?

This is the WvW forum and Necromancer was nerfed for Spvp only. In WvW it is 10x stronger especially after the July patch. Hah the quality of players has completely declined since launch. Warrior hammer was the worst weapon in the game with nothing even close to as bad since launch but suddenly it gets nerfed in both Spvp and WvW. Hammer has always been bad because it has the most obvious animations in the game and yet people suddenly complain about the hammer. Go looks at Spvp its filled with the worst of the worst. 75% of every Necromancer using MM, 15% using condition,10% using power, bomb grenade Engineer for every single one, Guardian with every wall skill they can find, every Ranger is using spirits, Pistol Whip is suddenly popular with Thieves, every Warrior is using hambow, 25% of Elementalists using Fresh Air, 50% using classic bad D/D burst combo, 25% using staff and spamming Meteor Rain and Lava Font, 50% of Mesmers still using phantasm, 10% using shatter, 40% using PU. Game if filled with skill-less builds and MM Necromancer is currently the top dog at bunkering.

That is in Spvp only if you watched the video and he never even mention Dhuumfire in the first two minutes, I’m currently at 9 minutes in.

Just wait, he proves that Necromancer were STRONGER before the Dhuumfire than we are now. Remember as stated that everyone is stronger in WvW compared to S/TPvP as well.

So we actually lose MORE damage in WvW than we would in S/TPvP thanks to the stat differences which are BIG

You do realize all the things that make them lose damage compared to before only affected Spvp besides the Terror nerf which was still buffed by Spectral Wall and Doom’s 50% duration increase.

You will make a good politician. You keep finding ways to avoid the question instead of answering them. Too bad politicians of your kind will never do anything good for his country. They will lead the nation straight to ruins because they never admit any fault and never listen to anyone.

Why are those skills nerfed ANYWHERE in the first place? PvE, sPvP, WvW it doesn’t matter at all.

Mark of Blood has been the same since 1.5 years ago. Suddenly now it is overpowered by a huge 33%??? Who has complained about it? Not even non-necro players ever complained about it. So WTH?

You ignore all the buffs and changes other classes have gotten, all the improved condition removal and everything as well.

If another class gets a buff and you do, that is depending on the buff and your build a nerf, for example – Diamond Skin change for Ele, that affects EVERY condition build in the game. Hurts Necromancers more due to the direct damage difference between say a Condi Necro and a Condi Mesmer

and how many of them “buffs” were actually FIXES….

he desperately trying to make a point that simply isnt there. war has gotten sooooo many buffs meanwhile its not even funny.it doesnt even matter what u say anymore, he will just keep trying to find something to prove his point. he refuses to accept any other opinions...only his point is right and everyone else is wrong....oh well.

Like I said his mission is to prevent a necro buff to make his own fights easier. He couldn’t care less about the truth on the necro, because he do not play as a necro and hates playing as a necro.

Here is the unfortunate part. The Anet devs are just like him. They do not play as a necro and hates playing as a necro. How do we know this? They said so themselves. They flat out call necro boring to play in one of their older interviews. We can also see this when they spent a grand total of 30 seconds when talking about the new Signet of Vampirism in the interview.

Talking to Glaphen is just like talking to a Anet dev right now.

A strong class shouldn’t be buffed just because its boring. It should be made interesting and fun to play but buffing something into god mode just makes everything else more kittenty. You want to play a game with cheats on in single player be my guest but in multiplayer games one person with cheats makes the entire game kitten.

You missed the whole point completely.

Because the Anet devs find necro so boring to play, they never bothered to spent the time to test it and balance it properly.

So being boring is a direct cause of necro’s imbalance. Get it now?

You are asking for buffs in all your posts, I don’t see anything wrong besides the class being boring to play. You don’t buff a class because its boring, you buff a class because its weak. If something is boring, you remake it so its fun, not buff them.

Wrong, yet again. I am angry at the nerfs, not the lack-of-buffs.

I am angry about many of the nerfs. But the one that stands out for me was the Mark of Blood 33% damage nerf. This was the first point I made in this whole thread.

Key here: I was talking about a nerf that was already done to the necromancer, not a future buff.

I can pull out many other examples. But let’s focus on Mark of Blood.

So good mister, tell me why Mark of Blood was nerfed by 33%.

I tell you right now, this is a argument you have no chance of winning. I understand necro very well, and Mark of Blood is one of the most clear example of Anet’s mistakes.

I will also give you the reason why Mark of Blood war nerfed. It is Dhuumfire.

The Mark of Blood: Removed 1 stack of bleed when used in PvP. Was only in Spvp and this is the WvW forums so I have no idea why you are here now.

I am trying to prove that Anet’s balance team is incompetent in balancing the necro and fixing its many problems. This applies to ALL OF PvE, FoTM, sPvP, WvW and anywhere else. ALL OF IT.

Fact: Mark of Blood got nerfed 33% in sPvP without any justification, other than Dhuumfire.

Once I successfully prove that Anet’s balance team is incompetent with the necro, my task is done. That means they do need to step up their game. Mission accomplished.

I don’t even know who Nemesis is but he cannot be any good if he thinks Necromancer needs buffs in anywhere but PvE.

I can see why you would think this, seeing that not only have you not leveled to level 80 on a Necromancer but you have not even played WvW with it, your whole opinion of it comes from S/TPvP and bias due to how you have to fight against them.

So rather than actually play the class and see WHY it needs buffs and we are not talking Over the top, melt your face buffs we are simply talking SURVIVABILITY buffs then you will never understand anyone’s point of view simply because in WvW you fight AGAINST them (thats IF you play WvW)

Go play Thief and Warrior to 80 now so you can start having the right on an opinion on them. Go take a picture of your Spvp match wheel, I want to see if you have even played it there.

Good. My first character to level 80 in GW2 was a thief, with full exotic gear. I was there during its 24/7 stealth and culling days. I was one of those calling for it to be nerfed.

I eventually refused to use stealth at all in WvW. I call it flat out cheating. But death comes often without stealth. Trapped between cheating or losing, I changed class and went back to necromancer.

My conclusion is the same: Necro right now need buffs.

Your earliest posts are from last December on a Necromancer so I highly doubt your first character was Thief. Easy way to prove it would be a /age of both Necromancer and Thief.

My first character is indeed a thief. My thief’s age is older than my necro’s. I can do a screenshot if you really insist. Better ask quick though. I am about to delete GW2 to make hard drive room for those Steam games I picked up over the Christmas sale.

Talking to you makes me hate GW2 more and more, without even playing it. :P

You ignore all the buffs and changes other classes have gotten, all the improved condition removal and everything as well.

If another class gets a buff and you do, that is depending on the buff and your build a nerf, for example – Diamond Skin change for Ele, that affects EVERY condition build in the game. Hurts Necromancers more due to the direct damage difference between say a Condi Necro and a Condi Mesmer

and how many of them “buffs” were actually FIXES….

A strong class shouldn’t be buffed just because its boring. It should be made interesting and fun to play but buffing something into god mode just makes everything else more kittenty. You want to play a game with cheats on in single player be my guest but in multiplayer games one person with cheats makes the entire game kitten.

Because the Anet devs find necro so boring to play, they never bothered to spent the time to test it and balance it properly.

I am angry about many of the nerfs. But the one that stands out for me was the Mark of Blood 33% damage nerf. This was the first point I made in this whole thread.

Key here: I was talking about a nerf that was already done to the necromancer, not a lack of future buff.

I can pull out many other examples. But let’s focus on Mark of Blood. So good mister, tell me why Mark of Blood was nerfed by 33%?

I tell you right now, this is a argument you have no chance of winning. I understand necro very well, and Mark of Blood is one of the most clear example of Anet’s mistakes. There is no chance you can justify this nerf, especially since you do not even have a level 80 necro.

Even the devs gave up. Before this nerf came, I openly invited them for open conversation about it. They never replied, because they cannot justify this nerf.

I will also give you the true reason why Mark of Blood war nerfed. It is Dhuumfire.

I can see why you would think this, seeing that not only have you not leveled to level 80 on a Necromancer but you have not even played WvW with it, your whole opinion of it comes from S/TPvP and bias due to how you have to fight against them.

I do not remember ever mentioning anything about Dhuumfire in any of my posts besides the one where Tainted Shackles, Doom buff, and Spectral Wall buff were bigger buffs than Dhuumfire after it was nerfed.

You do know that it was BECAUSE we got Dhuumfire that we got nerfs to conditions right? Rather annoying when we didn’t even ask for it, we asked for survivability and yet we got Dhuumfire and EVERYONE could see that it was simply Overpowered.

Rather than admit they were wrong, they simply nerfed everything else down assuming that EVERYONE took the trait, which of course they don’t and which then led people (condition builds mostly) to be FORCED into taking the trait due to everything being nerfed.

It was only after Dhuumfire got introduced that we started seeing Nerfs.

It’s almost as if Dhuumfire was the only thing Necromancers received in the last 6 months, no buffs to anything but Dhuumfire right. I agree lets revert all the changes they made since July and then Necromancer will be balanced right?

I would receive a revert of Dhuumfire with open arms. This trait should never have existed.

It’s only the same 4 morons who all play Necromancer trying to defend their broken class that I have proven wrong multiple times now. As I said ArmageddonAsh you yourself were calling Necromancer overpowered 3-4 months ago and as all those patch notes listed it hasn’t been nerfed at all since then while you keep trying to say Necromancers have been stealth nerfed and all other classes stealth buffed since the patch notes don’t say kitten. If you are admitting its overpowered now then why are you defending it moron.

Only 4? We have much more than that. The whole necro community is with us. Although we are much smaller now. Most people have changed class or changed games.

Part of the Norn culture is spreading legends and high-tales. I doubt a single Norn can take on a whole warband.

It is the same thing as saying 300 Spartans stopped a million Persians for a few days. They didn’t mention the thousands of Greek allies they got. And the Persians’ million manpower are highly exaggerated and it included many servants, camp followers and logistic personal that cannot actually fight.

Certain strong Norns may have beaten 3 or 4 Charrs in a fight.

The basic idea sounds great.

Details can be worked out by Anet of course. Like number of players – I like the large scale idea of it – 70 v 70 might be too big but10v10 would be too small. Map design. Win conditions. Etc.

It would satisfy the people who always complain about siege. It would be available to casuals and hardcore. And the combat system in GW2 is great so you don’t need to design a whole new system.

Sound like something between 20vs20 and 40vs40 will be a good size. Instead of 3 lanes they can have 5 lanes, etc.

Oh I can talk hours about what needs buffs and what needs nerfs. Believe me. And I had done that in the past. But it was a total waste of time, and any future discussion about that will be a total waste of time. Why? Because devs do not care about us necros. Not one bit. Period.

I said before that our job is not to convince people like you that we are right. We have to convince the devs that we are right. And until they have a direct dialogue with us, it is a waste of time for us. And we wasted enough.

Let’s break all things down. For me at the end, it simply comes down to:

Necro is not fun to play.

Hah every class got terrible heals during that patch but at least Necromancers heal is good against gates. You are right Necromancer is not fun to play that’s why I never leveled one to 80.

Good. At least we have an understanding on how un-fun necro is.

I am already too committed into the necro, and the game is not alt-friendly like it was in GW1. And since necro is the only class I am willing to spent the time and money to get ascended gear on, I am on the edge of quitting GW2 totally.

Makes logically sense yes? Good! Please forward my regards to Anet, and tell them that I am not the only necro facing this situation.

They can give it new build possibilities through new skills and traits that don’t effect the current ones just like every class needs but buffing any of the current Necromancer builds that are strong but unfun is a big no no.

Necros will fade into the shadows like Dervishs and Paragons did in GW1. What made necro different was the initial large population. Many GW1 necros transferred over to be a GW2 necro.

Good good. So you admit that in the extreme case, a player can just auto attack and still win zerg fights sometimes because his zerg carried him.

It is so easy to make these videos. In 100 zerg fights, even terrible necro players are bound to win 5 of them here and there. So he can put those 5 fights together and claim how awesome necros are, and forget about his 95 losses. This is so easy.

WvW videos in general proves nothing, good or bad. There are too many people involved. The foes might be all wearing masterwork and are all uplevels in the extreme case.

Now you understand how pointless it was for you to post your video.

Except in the video I posted he was more useful than even 10 of you combined. You had a support spec that was auto attacking with the one support skill in your entire builds off cooldown most of the video. Your video is obviously 5 out of 5 fights right, no way you clipped pieces together too right? Least his are of good play and not a lagging mess of bad. Also please give me the screenshot of your characters ArmageddonAsh, I want to see these magical level 80 Warrior and Thief characters preferably with a /age, since you haven’t given me any proof of you being any good besides tons of false information so far.

Look. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. And you are really not worth my time.

You hate playing as a necro. You hate necromancers with a passion. And here you are saying how powerful necros are because you don’t want them to be buffed. Your motives are clear for all the see.

You objective isn’t to find the truth. You objective is the prevent necros from getting buffs. And hence it is a waste of time with you.

It doesn’t matter. Anet sides with warriors. They read warrior forums 10000000000 times more often than necro forums. And it is always the warrior’s opinions that counts.

OP, many veteran necros either quitted the game or are playing another class. I am not sure you noticed, but things has been going very badly for us lately. Necro’s current damage output is worst than it was in August 2012.

i can’t believe someone is arguing that a second health bar is somehow not great in zerg fights.

Necro does not have anything else. They must face tank everything. This whole game is balanced around damage avoidance, and necros got zero damage avoidance.

I don’t think I can convince you guys with logic. So let’s try a different approach. To understand the necro community, you first have to understand our pain for the past 1.5 years.

You see, we don’t have to convince you that we are right. We actually have to convince the devs that we are right to make a difference. And the frustrating part is, our opinions have been pretty much ignored for the past 1.5 years. GW1 only lasted for 7 years, remember. If GW2 lasts as long as GW1, this is 25% of its life span already!

For a start, NO ONE ASKED for Dhuumfire. NO ONE SINGLE PERSON! Why is it given to the necros? Why?? Whose bright idea is this?? When it was introduced, the whole class was off balanced because of its raw damage.

We necros saw nerfs from a mile away. There is no way they could have kept Dhuumfire as it was. We told the devs straight up that Dhuumfire was a mistake, and it should be totally removed from the game to prevent further imbalance.

So what did we get? We got everything nerfed AROUND Dhuumfire. Our current damage (Jan 2014) is weaker than our damage back in August 2012. This was proven.

To make matters worst, necros are now public enemy #1 for many non-necro players. They saw Dhuumfire and now they hate necros for it, and are very happy to see necros nerfed. They ignored the fact that ZERO NONE NO ONE necro asked for Dhuumfire, and after its introduction we were the FIRST guys to ask for it to be removed.

This whole Dhuumfire was a PROPAGANDA CAMPAIGN aimed to give justification in nerfing necros to the ground.

In the meantime, people still thinks our life stealing is enough to keep us alive. Hint: It doesn’t.

BTW Death Shroud is not actually a second health bar. Why? We cannot get healed while we are inside Death Shroud. And our whole skill bar becomes DISABLED, and we only have access to 5 skills.

We necros are about to give up TBH. Maybe in 1 or 2 months if no fixes comes it is over for us. Even die hard necros like Nemesis are considering changing games. Soon after he announced this, his necro sticky guide got un-sticky. >_>

I hasn’t log into the game ever since Mark of Blood got nerfed. This is still holding.

When the necro community fall silent, it isn’t because necros are balanced. It is because the necro community is dead.

So this belongs in the suggestions forum then… You’re not discussing lore, you’re not theorising on lore, you’re offering a suggestion to Arenanet staff on the kind of villains and political systems that you’d like to see in game – therefore suggestion, rather than lore.

Very few people ever reads the suggestion forum. Not players nor the devs. There are fewer than 3 red posts there in the last 1.5 years. That place is like a black hole.

So you see how pointless it is to post anything there, suggestions included. And yes I have tried. It is not worth it to spent an hour typing out a post over there.

And we really should be discussing the topic on hand. No one understand GW2 lore better than us here. The story writers should listen directly to our suggestions, instead of throwing our suggestions into the black hole where no one reads.

Hate to be this guy again – but you realise that lore and writing fan-fic are two separate things right? I don’t really understand what relevance advice on villains and political factions has in the lore forum?

I wasn’t talking about fan fiction. I am suggesting to the GW2 story writers to focus on political lore in their future stories. This is how you build interesting villains and characters.

I have said this before, that elder dragons are very boring lore wise. “Oh I am mega powerful, and you can’t stop me. So now I will eat you!” Boring boring boring!

So what’s an interesting villain? A villain that have a genuine political point of view, which he is willing to fight and die for. And this political view is how this villain rally followers, not because he is mega powerful and his followers fear him. That would be, once again, boring.

That is how you build up anti-heroes and anti-villains, which are a thousand times more interesting than Elder Dragons mindlessly out to consume all.

Does that means the Elder Dragons have no place in lore? Nope. But they have to be used differently.

I will use Walking Dead as a simple example. Let’s assume the zombies in that series are forces of the Elder Dragon. The humans in the world cooperates and kills each other throughout the series.

The fight against the zombies provides a lot of action entertainment. But what does the story focus on? The interactions between the humans of course! When they decide to cooperate, it is interesting. When they decide to kill each other, it is interesting. This is politics. The zombies are just there as a constant threat. The zombies are not the story. The people and their politics are the story.

Similarly, the Elder Dragon and their minions are not the story (unless the Elder Dragons gets into politics too, of course). The people and their politics when they are facing these overwhelming foes are the story.

Come on are seriously implying you don’t even know the class you have more experience on me with? Weakening Shroud has an obvious animation when they enter Death Shroud, now watch the video and tell me where it is.

Stop assuming that he could have lived through any of that without proper positioning or even done 1/1000 of the damage he did if he sat in his zerg.

Yeah, try that against players that Immbo, chill you and such, easy to do in zergs and it USED to be useful. Now, not so much.

Also, i gave ONE example of a nerf to conditions that hurt power builds – i am sure i could give you a couple more that have hurt even just power staff using builds as well.

He could have EASILY done the same damage in the first fight. I mean, all he did was move to the side away from his zerg who didnt even have anyone get downed, spammed a few marks and then went into DS – he could have EASILY done the same from being close to his zerg.

The one on the wall was pretty good, but to assume he did all the work. Not quite.

The guy in the video didn’t use staff so it isn’t relevant at all.

You seriously underestimate the importance of positioning in a fight. Sure the hammer train Warriors and Guardians don’t need positioning they just need to stick with their zerg as close as possible. The rest of the classes have their own place in the fight and the best spot is usually not inside the train.

Did you just say that the mages get to stay behind while the warriors and guardians charge in with the commander? LMAO! Sorry mate but if your commander allows this, then he doesn’t know what he is doing.

If you don’t move with your commander, who is responsible for helping his zerg avoid incoming damages, you will be dead in seconds.

What positioning? You should let your commander worry about that. You only job is to stay on your commander 24/7 without question. If you cannot survive what he can survive then you need better tanking gear.

You are clearly a sPvPer. Don’t get me wrong I have no disrespect for sPvPers. But please don’t try to bring your sPvP experience into WvW. It is a different world.

You can run full PVT and pop people hard with Necromancer while in Deathshroud, I’ve done it on mine after the changes… 5k and 6k damage is very very easy to do.

Also Necromancers are way way way better then they were last year…Not even close.

The guy I was talking to is arguing Zerker gear on necro is great for WvW. He wasn’t talking about PVT.

And Nemesis has proven that the current necro’s damage output is worst than August 2012. And the necro didn’t get nearly enough additional survivability to make up for their losses in damage.

I think you underestimate how much survivability and damage you’ve gotten.

My Ranger didn’t have any trouble against Necro’s up until a few patches ago, Now they’re incredibly scary to fight.

So scary I basically have to kite them around till I get them low enough for the kill.

If I play offensively I die… 100% of the time.

You are talking about 1vs1. WvW is zerg vs zerg.

I will put this very simply. Let’s assume for a second Death Shroud is just as affective as blocking, invulnerability, etc in 1vs1.

Now let us move to zerg vs zerg.

Blocks and invulnerability works just as well in 40vs1 as it was in 1vs1.

Death Shroud will melt in 40vs1. Its simple math. “Two health bars” against 40 enemies will still melt in seconds.

Now of course zerg fights are not 40vs1. They are 40vs40. But it is obvious that the more enemies a necro faces, the weaker Death Shroud is as a survival mechanic.

And this, my friend, is preciously why Death Shroud fails. Many people only see the raw numbers of the necro with Death Shroud and assume necros are alright. They do not understand how in WvW a necro with 50k health can die faster than a warrior with 25k health. It is actually pretty obvious once you start playing the necro.

It is pure non-sense when people say that necros can go full glass cannon in a zerg fight due to Death Shroud. Aside from my previous point, Death Shroud scales with your health and armor. When you go glass cannon, your Death Shroud is also weaker and last shorter against damage.

As for necro damage, its all due to the much hated Dhuumfire. Both necro players and non necro players hates this trait with a passion. This trait should be removed from history forever.

How can they nerf this class?
All i tried in the past (full alte, full power, hybrid) does half the otdamage of the other class.
I tried DS build this afternoon (30,10,0,0,30). I expected better than i saw…

Nemesis, a very experienced player, has proven that the current necro’s damage is worst than it was in August 2012. This is necro’s sad reality.

You can still play necro if you really want to force yourself. But tbh the game is more fun with other classes. That’s why I suggest that you play other more fun classes.

This is slightly off topic. But I want to talk about political lore in GW2, while using Yugoslavia as an example.

Politic is a difficult subject to get into in story writing. And so its often overlooked. The stories are often around conflicts where the enemy is either an absolutely evil faction, or they had been fighting for the past few hundred years.

The story of Yugoslavia is an excellent example for lore writers who wish to write about the politics in their world. The following 2 documentaries are very long. But they go into great depth into events during the break up of Yugoslavia. I highly recommend anyone interest in political lores to watch these.

The most important thing: You DO NOT need an absolute evil faction to make an excellent story on politics. Different point of views, often equally correct, is more than enough to create political drama.

What often happens in politics: People with totally noble goals confront other people with opposing noble goals, but their conflict of interest leads to disagreements, conflict between the extremists, and then finally wide spread destructions for all involved. And this is aside from the personal pride and racial pride these politicians usually have. And also important is the history and background between the opposing sides.

The old saying is true: The path to hell was paved with good intentions. We see this happen again and again in politics. And all these comes to a crushing end in Yugoslavia.

Who is right and who is wrong? Who is good and who is evil? It all depends on who you talked to and who has the bigger guns.

Where I see political lore will come into play in GW2:

-Queen Jennah vs Minister Caudecus (Jennah is pro Charr. Caudecus is against Charr.)

-Queen Jennah & Anise vs Logan Thackeray (the two may have conflicting political views.)

-Palawa Joko (By lore, probably the best politician and manipulator the world has ever seen.)

-Kralkatorrik (After the near defeat by Destiny’s Edge he is currently the weakest of the elder dragons. He would most likely improve his chances by a major political gamble. He may ally with the humans against the Charrs. )

-The Pact (This union has yet to see a serious challenge to their friendship yet.)

-Evon Gnashblade (This hugely wealthy and calculating politician is far from done.)

-White Mantle (They have secret allies within the human kingdom.)

-Cantha (This xenophobic nation who overpowered multiple races and culture has many aspects of Yugoslovia written all over it.)

It is pretty obvious that less skilled players need more “buffer” via vit, toughness and as many other players around as possible. “Professional WvW” guilds mostly consist of baddies following a blue dorito and spamming ae.

Glaphen is completely right, the rest is just denying truth, because it would hurt their carebear egos to admit. Why is it so hard for MMO gamers to admit they`re terrible? In RTS and fighting games, most players honestly accept they`re scrubs, because thats usually the first step to improve and get better…

Come on are seriously implying you don’t even know the class you have more experience on me with? Weakening Shroud has an obvious animation when they enter Death Shroud, now watch the video and tell me where it is.

Stop assuming that he could have lived through any of that without proper positioning or even done 1/1000 of the damage he did if he sat in his zerg.

Yeah, try that against players that Immbo, chill you and such, easy to do in zergs and it USED to be useful. Now, not so much.

Also, i gave ONE example of a nerf to conditions that hurt power builds – i am sure i could give you a couple more that have hurt even just power staff using builds as well.

He could have EASILY done the same damage in the first fight. I mean, all he did was move to the side away from his zerg who didnt even have anyone get downed, spammed a few marks and then went into DS – he could have EASILY done the same from being close to his zerg.

The one on the wall was pretty good, but to assume he did all the work. Not quite.

The guy in the video didn’t use staff so it isn’t relevant at all.

You seriously underestimate the importance of positioning in a fight. Sure the hammer train Warriors and Guardians don’t need positioning they just need to stick with their zerg as close as possible. The rest of the classes have their own place in the fight and the best spot is usually not inside the train.

Did you just say that the mages get to stay behind while the warriors and guardians charge in with the commander? LMAO! Sorry mate but if your commander allows this, then he doesn’t know what he is doing.

If you don’t move with your commander, who is responsible for helping his zerg avoid incoming damages, you will be dead in seconds.

What positioning? You should let your commander worry about that. You only job is to stay on your commander 24/7 without question. If you cannot survive what he can survive then you need better tanking gear.

You are clearly a sPvPer. Don’t get me wrong I have no disrespect for sPvPers. But please don’t try to bring your sPvP experience into WvW. It is a different world.

You can run full PVT and pop people hard with Necromancer while in Deathshroud, I’ve done it on mine after the changes… 5k and 6k damage is very very easy to do.

Also Necromancers are way way way better then they were last year…Not even close.

The guy I was talking to is arguing Zerker gear on necro is great for WvW. He wasn’t talking about PVT.

And Nemesis has proven that the current necro’s damage output is worst than August 2012. And the necro didn’t get nearly enough additional survivability to make up for their losses in damage.

Necromancer looks so bad that he can do this without food and leaving out Lich Form clips.

Impressive. Too bad this solo roaming necromancer will be kick from professional WvW guilds for running zerker and not running with the zerg.

Why??? He was so awesome at killing other glass cannons!!!!

In that whole video, he contributed a grand total of ZERO points to his server. That’s why. I didn’t watch the whole video so maybe he helped flipped a few camps. But his main goal is solo killing, which does nothing for the match itself.

Havoc teams of professional WvW guilds doesn’t run zerker neither. Why? Because they spent most of their time with their zerg, and only havoc when the commander specifically ordered them to. In a zerg fight and under enemy siege weapons, zerker gear gets killed in 5 seconds.

If you played WvW, you know exactly what I am talking about. In every zerg fight there are those guys who dies in 5 seconds. Zerker gear glass cannons are useless in zerg fights.

BTW, that video was pre-nerf. Necro right now is weaker than Aug 2012.

Power builds should carry both zerker and pvt on them for WvW. Mesmers and Thieves do not need support to destroy people in the back line nor do they take long to get there. Mesmers should be in PVT for zergs but are terrible for roaming if they don’t use berserkers.

Give it up already, you have NO idea what you are talking about. I have seen PLENTY of very good Mesmers do roaming without using Berserker gear. It is NOT the be all and end all of gear.

99% of the player base is bad just like you. It might work on morons but not anyone with half a brain nor is it even close to the most effective.
