I liked the mariners horn before Anet fixed the simultaneous playing and changing how it sounds.
Dude…forget about the GW2 books. Anet needs to get working on movies!
PERSONALLY, I don’t really enjoy GW2 nearly as much when there isn’t LS to do, however there are a plethora of things I like doing in GW2 in the meantime. But, you don’t have to rush yourself and grind all the achievements/rewards out in one day as if you’ve been putting off studying for finals in school until the night before…
I didn’t get to experience the Battle for Lions Arch myself, although it did look really cool and I know that for the Spinal Blade back pieces, you needed a lot of blade shards for it. But i’m okay with missing LS every so often when I know I can’t do anything about it.
Whenever the new LS/meta achievements come out, I just take it piece by piece and not rush myself, or else the game gets really boring and dull that way (imo.) 2 weeks is more than plenty of time to get at least part of the achievements finished. However, with some LS, like the Marionette fight, it was a bit harder to get teh achievements just for dodging its attacks and some people never got it. Neither did I.
You’re not going to get to complete all of the meta, or maybe you will, but if you push it and make it real grindy, you’re not going to enjoy the game that much.
Hey, you gotta admit, in ties like that, you know that there are gonna be some sweet clutch plays good efforts btw
If I were you, id use the spiky-blade hair. But thats just me At first, I kinda liked that tube/braid hair style, but not so much anymore.
alright then.
When attuned to Fire and if you have the trait Persisting Flames(XI) it doesn’t effect the duration of the fire field it leaves. Dunno if this is intended or not. Seems like it would be, hence the skill itself is pretty strong as we all know.
Also, will Fiery Rush get a duration tooltip of how long the fire field lasts from it?
how about a x/30(XI)/x/x/x build with the new Intel Sigil? D/D maybe and using 1-2 arcane utilities max. (using arcane with FGS) maybe?
wow…no traits or utilities? only blue/green level loot and nothing higher? it honestly sounds undo-able, though I may be wrong. GL though
I haven’t played GW2 for nearly a year now.
I thoroughly enjoyed most of the game; I have a couple 80’s and some fairly high PvP-rank characters. Very close to world completion, high level crafting skills, etc.
I decided to see how the game has come in the past months and fired it up again; after a large amount of patching, a good bit of nostalgia, and a couple of hours, I found myself in a state of déjà vu; I got that same feeling of “there’s really nothing to do” again.
How could this be? Months of content and patches being added but still there’s seemingly nothing to do.
Well, it got me thinking. I really like the structure of the game; it’s got a ton of potential and the ANet team seems very proactive when it comes to their game. It’s just a matter of direction, if you ask me.
Here’s some of my concerns, take them for what they are; I’m sure many people agree as well as disagree and think I’m an idiot.
• The loot isn’t fun. There’s very little variation when it comes to items, besides aesthetics. While leveling up this isn’t too much of an issue, it kind of dulls the experience at max level. Sure, I don’t have full Ascended gear, but I’m also not very compelled to put a ridiculous amount of time and effort into getting them due to one, these items don’t really have a meaningful impact on gameplay, and two, there’s no gameplay that really merits them.
• Nobody really does dungeons; they skip them. If people are going out of their way to skip content, don’t you think there might be something wrong with the content? Most dungeons contain too much filler and lack real “loot” for your efforts; that doesn’t create a challenging, rewarding, nor immersing dungeon experience.
• Build diversity and overall balance could be much better. Nowadays, it seems like nobody likes you unless you’re full Berserker, using your classes “best” weapon. Doesn’t that seem a little strange to anyone? If balancing between PvE and PvP is difficult, why not just balance them separately?
• World events should be more… worldly. Off the top of my head, one of my favorite world events is when that huge Giant runs over that low-level Charr town in one of their zones. I like that event because there’s repercussions for not dealing with him; your town is pretty much useless. What good are world events that really don’t have any weight within the world around them? Would be pretty fun if towns getting attacked was more of a regular thing; it makes the world seem more dangerous.
Living story content is great and all, but shouldn’t the focus be on content that’s fun and repayable? I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather see:
? Added a new zone where players fight the native clans for control over rare, natural resources!
- Rare and bountiful resources that appear randomly throughout the map are guarded by powerful monsters!
- Monsters periodically assault player hubs; the attacks never stop!Than…
? Some kitten with a giant robot spawned in the middle of the mountains somewhere; go kill it if you’re bored and looking for somthing to do.
Just wait like 8 more days. And also, hang around for a little while longer, because season 2 of living story will start soon, introducing new zones and all that
Will the glow of the zenith weapon skins be a little more intensified than they are now? I’ve noticed that the zenith longbow skin (it was the only one i chose at the time) glows every time you shoot with it. However, only when you unsheathe the zenith GS, it glows bright, but when you attack with it, it doesn’t glow like the longbow does.
They’re really cool skins and should all give off more of a glow when they’re used.
all the races have had armor issues/clipping, but charr have it more.
What I think would be a good fix to this, is if ALL armor was redesigned to fit each race appropriately. It would be culturally fit to them, just like the cultural armors. Then I don’t think there’ll be as many clipping issues/hiding horns
So, the current priority of combo fields is that the first combo field laid down will generate all finisher effects until its duration is up, and then the next field laid down will take effect, right?
What would you think if instead of this, all finishers used on top of multiple fields will generate all of the effects of the fields that were laid down.
Say for example 3 blast finishers were used on top of a Fire Field, Light Field, and a Water Field. there would be 9 stacks of AoE might, 9 secs(min) of Retaliation and the 3 blasts of AoE healing.
Would it be op?
Or is the current priority of combo fields better? what would anyone suggest differently or change about it, if they could?
What will happen to our Pvp materials then?
I somewhat agree with the jewel removal because it does make balancing easier for Pvp, however, the jewel stats are obviously much less significant than amulet stats but it does help in offering that small diversity for builds. But, i think we will have to see how it really is once the patch hits.
I don’t even want to imagine how long it has to take to try to balance the stat combos in Pve…
When players enter this area, there should be an Npc you can talk to that will let you spectate the fights going on from different perspectives in the area, or spectate the players. This would especially be beneficial to GvG fights and make it easier to shout cast them for upcoming GvG tourneys or team fights.
Either have an Npc or have a Spectate button/option or something when you enter Obsidian Sanctum.
I don’t know if this has been suggested before, but just in case.
Celesital-like stats except focused on certain things like damage-dealing or healing. As in, all of the stats would provide the same +10 or whatever bonus but be focused in certain areas as to create more focused kinds of balanced stats.
Like offensive or defensive celestial.
Defensive could be Vitality, Toughness, healing power, condition damage.
Offensive maybe Power, precision, crit damage (probably ferocity at this point) vitality/toughness
I do like the rank change…but at the same time, I really don’t like it. It is a little unfair to the higher ranked players who’ve worked for it honestly. But the rank-point boosts from 45 or whatever to 80 seems excessive to me. r55 jumping up to 80 is ridiculous. (If I’m understanding that correctly)
Here’s what Im thinking. Instead of the 20k rank points required per level after R39, once you hit r40, it should start with 20k points and 40-49 would all be 20k. 50-59 might be 30k or 40k pts. 60-70 would be 55k points then maybe 70-80 would be 75k-100k points, which may seem a lot still, but its not like 750k or 8million total rank points…
r80 should still be a challenge to get, but not this easy… what do u guys think?
OR what if the 20k ranks per level remained, but once you hit 80, your rank was reset to 1 and you’d be given rank titles like in WvW. So then you’d be Bronze Rabbit, bronze Deer, Bronze Dolyak…etc then Silver, Gold, Platinum, Mithril and Diamond. And once you went through r80, you’d be an Ascended Bronze, Ascended Silver, Ascended Gold, Ascended Platinum, Ascended Mithril and Ascended Diamond rank.
No….if everything was made into really cheesy cartoony versions with cheesy sound effects…
Or made Costume Brawl skills useable in combat and REALLY op.
or all the character design models looked like Ice Elementals, except you’d still appear as the race you are, just your head, arms, legs, and chest would be floating apart from each other
It seems like this minor GM trait doesn’t even exist. the 10% proc chance is just a bit low. Arcana is an important trait line for elementalists and it would help a bit more if the proc chance was like at 25%.
Also, plz buff the proc chance on Glyph of Elemental Power to 33%, so those who do want to use it, get a little more out of it?
Obsidian Focus is quite ok for D/D.
Obsidian Focus procs from Drake’s Breath, Cone of Cold, Ether Renewal, Churning Earth, in all situation that you are vulnerable, it is effective.
Only problem is it is directly competing with Elemental Shielding with the number of auras D/D has, is 400 armor is better or %33 DR from protection?
why not use both? although it would take up 10 more points
I’ve had success in 1v1s with Defiant Stance, but it is harder to work with. But I have successfully came out on top of a 2v1. it was awesome
What armor class are you? if you’re a charr warrior, the Pit Fighters chest piece looks great. The Plated leggings, chest and shoulder pieces are good choices. Barbaric chest piece looks great as well. almost the full set of Primeval looks good. Draconic Helm suits charr, so does the Koda Helm. Vigil armor looks great. Armageddon (karma) shoulders are nice. Again, its all really about mixing and matching.
Also, get some tips from other charr players on armor selections and not so much cultural armor if that bothers you
The reason that no one wants mounts in the game is because it would only make for more screen clutter and lag for everyone. Especially in WvW. GW2 has enough screen clutter going on in World Boss events and big events.
Yeah it would be cool and all that, but it really isn’t worth it
I like this build with DS but i would like instead GS to go with Hammer.. And if so what traits and gear to use with Axe/Shield & Hammer?
Yeah you can use GS with Hammer. I only used axe/shield because axe gave me a decent burst and mostly i chose it for shield stance for obvious reasons
the traits and gear are in the link i posted
If you use hammer/GS, i’d swap out Slashing Power for Distracting Strikes and swap out Mighty Defenses for Vigorous Focus.

30 fire isn’t all that bad. Both Pyromancer’s Puissance and Persisting Flames are pretty good. There are a lot of better traits that seem a bit strong for their tier, and some are a littler weaker to be in a higher tier. Ele has some good traits, but it’s just hard to make up your mind which ones you’re going to take and how they’ll affect your build.
I have never used or seen some1 use the Rampagers Amulet on Ele…I’ve seen very few people use Rabid, but that’s also not such a good choice imo
How does any Ele feel about Obsidian Focus? should the way it functions be changed to do something else, or should it function better with more skills? or should something else take its place?
The only thing I see it doing is if you have Vigorous Scepter, Zephyrs Focus and Obsidian Focus and all you’re doing is running around in circles spamming Arc Lightning or something useless like that :P
all the channeled skills that are affected by O.F and zephyrs focus are ether renewal, ride the lightning (oddly), churning earth, obsidian flesh(oddly as well…), cone of cold, drakes breath, meteor shower, lightning surge and glyph of renewal, earth shield, frost bow and flame wave(FGS)
Will some of the achievements see a rework with the amount of points they reward? Specifically the Weapon Master tiers. A lot of them are easy to do, but for Focus Master, Warhorn Master, Torch Master and possibly Shield Master, it takes a while to get the 5000 killing blows with it. Also, if your target dies from condition damage, you won’t be rewarded the points for it. Plus, 11 Achievement points isn’t a whole lot for something like that.
(Also, why doesn’t Master of Overkill reward any points?)
The same thing kinda goes for other achievements that either reward the same amount of points but more difficult/longer time and those that are really easy and faster to earn.
The WvW achievement titles Yakslapper, Ultimate Chaperone (A pack Dolyak’s Best Friend) and King of the Castle, especially that one, seem like they would take a while because you have to take the time to sit around with the Pack Dolyak and try to defend it as best you can before a zerg or roamers come around and kill it+you.
How many times has Stonemist been captured? It is the largest and most difficult to take, and for that, it only rewards 56 achievement points in total…I’m just wondering if the achievement point rewards will be re-adjusted depending on the time it would take to do it or the difficulty depending on the availability of what it is you’re trying to accomplish for the achievement title or points (giant slayer)
Everything in Lions Arch is now at Vigil Keep in Gendarran Fields, even the fractals portal and Southsun Cove. Those 2 are a bit south of Vigil Keep.
You can play hide & seek in HotM. Several good places to hide. Otherwise you can explore.
I challenge you to find this place (and getting there)!

Easy peezy lemon squeezey. :P I would if I could, but can’t unfortunately. If some people don’t know where or how to get to that spot, then they haven’t spent enough time in Hotm lol. All u do is go to the catapult firing range, jump up on the rock ledge and go to the back of it and climb up, leap forward across that little gap and you’re up there pretty much.
Anet should totally make some of those FatHead wall decals of Destiny’s Edge and Evon Gnashblade/Ellen Kiel, Braham/Rox etc. that would be so awesome!
Can u plz plz plz put back that secret cave that used to be in Hotm? it was so cool and then it went away
Just curious. Before glory was removed, which pvp reward chests were better to get? the copper/silver/gold rank reward chests, the match win reward chests from Solo queue/Team queue, or the mystery pvp coffer chests?
Can I get an explanation of why the pvp crafting materials are being removed? I really love the Wardrobe system coming in so that you don’t have to worry about crafting the same armor set for different characters and that all the armor/weapon skins will be shared across your account, BUT if you don’t have a certain set of armor that you’d like to have, will you still be able to craft it if you have the tokens for it?
Will all your pvp mats disappear once the patch hits or will you just not be able to gain pvp mats anymore?
it doesn’t say if theres an internal cool down does it?
PLEASE post a vid of this!
lol wut is this
Keg Brawl is quite nice, but the targeting is a bit iffy, so is the ability where you just aim up and heave the barrel all the way across the map :/ still a fun game, along with Sanctum Sprint
This skill doesn’t produce an icon when it’s activated and it doesn’t seem to be working 100% of the time. I know that it won’t stop current condition damage already on me, but my pet was fully alive and I was still taking a little direct damage from mobs.
It would be really nice and helpful if at least there was an icon that pops up for the 6 second duration of the skill. anyone else agree?
With the Lyssa rune nerf/balance, it should grant you 5 boons that you don’t already have on you currently, rather than re-applying some not-quite-as-effective boons as others…
When you finish Sanctum Sprint, there should be an option that lets you spectate the other racers who haven’t finished yet instead of just looking out of 4 areas toward the end of the track. I also think that in addition to that, there should be more spectate-able areas throughout the map, just like there are in Pvp. Also. it would be nice if the rewards were more beneficial depending on what place you finished in. Currently, there isn’t much of a difference between the reward you get for finishing in first and finishing 2nd and below.
This is just a little something to be thought about possibly.
When using the skill Counteratttack, the skill icon comes up but the block timer on it says 60 seconds and this is clearly not accurate. It would be awesome to be able to block for 60 seconds on a 15 second cooldown XD but really, fix please?
Don’t be so quick to discredit this just because of how bad some people might think Defiant Stance is. Sure its only 3 seconds, but when taking bursts, it helps ALOT.
Alright, here is the setup http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vIAQNAneRnUJSVI2GCehAnIGQQP+isQANPMCgoIUFoDA-TYAA1EipEzJmRshIA
Yeah, it’s not entirely complete, because it is fairly customizable. However the core of the build comes from Defiant Stance + Frenzy and Spiked Armor.
Im using Soldiers Amulet because of how much sustainability it offers and for the jewel, I suppose that you can use anything you want, it doesnt matter so much. Maybe you’ll have better luck with berserkers amulet or Valk. See what works for you.
Im also using 4 runes of Sanctuary for the extra retaliation, and combined with Spiked Armor, you’re going to have retaliation up for a decent amount of time and this is huge for the build. But the main thing is at least having Spiked Armor traited.
I use sure-footed because the extra 3/4 of a second on Defiant Stance does make that much of a difference. Berserkers Stance is interchangeable with Balance Stance, however it synergizes well with Berserkers Power. And when using Defiant Stance, I typically try to use Frenzy with DS for extra healing and then when its done, ill pop Endure Pain. (Obviously you DO NOT want to hit Endure Pain and DS at the same time. BAD THINGS HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE!)
Im using Axe/shield because axe is able to keep a good amount of constant dps on your target and plus every1 always loves a nice eviscerate.
Though, after having tested the build out against a few people, ESPECIALLY elementalists (skilled ele’s) I was having trouble staying on them, though I like the mobility of Greatsword, but the main thing I think was missing was not really being able to interupt their heal. Retaliation hurts like a mother and can drop at least half of their health from a burst combo. I have not yet tried using Hammer instead of GS. That might be the 1 essential thing I was missing. I practically had no CC’s on my target, except for Shield Stun, but using axe/shield and Hammer will probably complete the build.
If any of you are interested in trying this out, go right on ahead, it’s worked wonders for me. But I don’t think its absolutely necessary to go 30 into Strength for Bersekers Power, but I did it just because I like the extra damage boosts. And like I said, the core of the build comes from 30 in defense to get SPiked Armor, Defiant Stance+Frenzy. Feel free to experiment with other runes/sigils…
This is the ultimate Bear-Eagle pose! if only i could figure out how to get the Shark and snake pose into it too…
If you’re focusing on a single target and your ricochet is only hitting once and you’re getting tired of it, see if you can pull your target to 2 nearby trees or boxes/crates or some kind of environmental objects like that, because the axe will hit that target 3 times, and it works even better if its in more compact space because your dps just jumps.
If this gets nerfed, i might be a sad ranger, but I guess ill still use axe/torch or maybe axe/axe. Though I do wish that Splitblade was a projectile finisher and that the 5 stacks of bleeding would hit more reliably, because you have to be pretty much in your targets face in order to land the full 5stacks of bleeding.
Nothing beats a slow roasted quaggan bacon-wrapped shish-kabob! >:)
I’d be down for a revamp/update to the SB fight, however not to the point like Tequatl. That’s a bit much. But only something like adding more mechanics or something to make it a bit more interesting.
