Hey Roy,
please consider limiting the hand glow to being in combat / having weapons drawn. It’s a bit much while standing idly around and with weapons sheathed. No other class follows this logic and it would dramatically improve the feeling of the Revenant when he charges into battle.
spamming the same request across multiple threads to make it seem like it’s a widespread issue when plenty of people have disagreed with you is childish.
there have been two threads on the subject where people have shown support for keeping the perma-glow, one of which you plainly showed that you didn’t care about the lore, so don’t give me any of that “improve the feeling” BS when it’s clear you don’t care about the class’s flavor.
why are you so adamant on the “disable them out of combat” when asking for a toggle in the options would be beneficical for everyone? those like me who like the uniqueness of the glow out of combat get to keep it, those like yourself who don’t like it get to hide it.
oh and Roy, may I make a request?: for herald, could you add a “drop facets” button to F3? it’s VERY annoying to have to either put my facets on CD or use up all my energy just to turn them off (especially for facet of nature, you cannot activate Imposible Odds if you have FoN up, but dropping FoN is impossible in that stance due to to not having any non-IO upkeps, the only way is to use FoN and activate the CD)
(edited by Calcifire.1864)
I’d definitely be wary of trying to channel a copy of mordremoth (or jormag I guess). having even a copy of it living in your head sounds like a recipe for disaster
Don’t get rid of the hand glow. The point of the Revenant is to be a knight who uses magic. If you don’t want to see glowing effects or magic, play a warrior.
a Knight who uses Magic is the Guardian? would you like that their aegis is always visible too? i doubt it. And for the sake of it, it would make a lot more sense for the guardian having blue firy hands then its for the revenant, who uses the mist
also it seems more people are annoyed by the visuals (heralds ground effect and hand glows) compared to people who ask for more of it, i wonder why……not realy actually
don’t try and make it seem like there are more by combining the ones who dislike the floor circle with the hand glow haters.
I’m not a fan of the circle (the blue ring could me made more translucent and fade better around the edges), but LOVE the hands.
there are TWO of you who actively dislike the hands, with about 10 in this thread who DO like it
as for out of combat effects, mesmers get retalliation and aegis out of combat when using signet of inspiration (which we have to because we don’t get a speed boost trait until chronomancer)
Fair point. However, regarding that Mallyx tries to tempt the Revenant with ‘ultimate power’ (at least I think that’s what he says, don’t recall it exactly atm) and that the Legendary Demon skills put conditions on the Revenant that can damage him if he doesn’t manage them properly, I tend to believe that the risk of being corrupted by Mallyx is quite real. Yes, that’s all jut mechanics, but thematically it appears that way to me.
It’s not temptation as I understand it.
When you use the Mallyx elite, he says something along the lines of “Finally, it’s time to show these fools ultimate power.”
So it’s less temptation and more of Mallyx being so egotistical with himself that he thinks he wields ultimate power.
now I wonder: can a revenant channel a god?
The Revenant channels legends of the past. Dead people. The gods are neither, as far as we know.
We don’t know that they’re all dead. Jalis could still be alive.
And given the nature of the Mists, in that it connects all time and space (including the future) together, it’s theoretically possible for the revenant to channel legends of the future – or even possible legends of the future – just as much as it would be to channel legends of the past or present.
Though I doubt we’ll ever see a revenant channeling the legend of a future, more out of the explanation of “the revenant cannot channel what he doesn’t know.”
By the lore they’ve given, the indication is that revenants channel copies of people who had such a huge impact on the world that they were imprinted upon by the Mists and a clone was made. Said clones can come in various shapes and sizes and be of people, places, or events. The ones revenants channel seem sapient but for all we know are incorporeal.
All that said, to say that gods are neither dead nor legends of the past would be false. See Abaddon as a prime example – he is dead, and he had clearly had a huge impact of the world. He would have been copied by the Mists already, in fact, if Evon had won the election during S1.
plus, death gets strange when the mists get involved, Mad King Thorn is dead, but also still very much alive in the mad realm, you also get the occasional living person/thing trapped there (Abbadon pre-nightfall, Dhuum, Rytlock, Mai Trin (the real one, not the fractal clone), most of the lunatic court, Possibly Dessa depending on the nature of her being trapped in her fractal)
hell, Mallyx is a margonite, so who even knows how “living” is defined for him, he was made of mists and lived in the mists to begin with, what would be the difference to a living mallyx in the realm of torment and a dead mallyx in the realm of torment?
I’d say that for revenants, either they have no patron god (being a new profession, and a charr one at that), or it’s whatever their preferred god in the bio is.
if we’re going to be literal about their patron god, it would have to be “none” however, since apart from grenth through his Reapers, they aren’t actually there to grant revenants their patronage.
or perhaps due to the “blank slate” of revenants, ALL the gods would be willing to grant patronage?
now I wonder: can a revenant channel a god?
I just wonder why the “no hand glow” people don’t ask for an option to toggle it off like the death knight eyes and voices in WoW? that option harms NOBODY, and yet they jump straight for “NO I DON’T LIKE IT! REMOVE IT!”
I personally hope that they keep the PERMANTENT hand glow, in combat and out. if you don’t like it, ask for a toggle, don’t ruin it for other people
Faust is a miniboss
*Target dummy to practice rotations on
as an AST: please stop practicing, the SCH isn’t helping and there’s like 50 adds on the OT, I wanna have a few seconds to DPS too :<
technially, the spiritual successor of Rit is Mesmer with its phantasms and engi through its turrets and kits (they even have a crappy signet of spirits via supply drop), though the aesthetic successor is Rev
but man, do I wish I could be Rev/Mes80 in GW2 :P
(edited by Calcifire.1864)
I don’t know if this is what is meant to be, but if I activate the facet of nature, I cannot activate impossible odds (shiro) neither ooc, nor in combat.
IO requires 10 “pips” of energy regen, you have a maximum of +5 and minimum of -5
in other words, using IO means you have to be using NOTHING ELSE
in this case, using FoN and IO would take you down to -7 energy regen, which is not allowed
no double length quickness for you sorry ;P
wait, Glint?
you mean we aren’t channeling Rita Repulsa?
Casuals strikes again.
Raid players beware. They are applying pressure on Raids already.
aNet will break.
I’ve not seen anyone asking raids to be nerfed, more that they want ascended to be less grindy to get.
if the boss drops ascended gear in live then everything will be fine, it can be started in exotics and you can get ascended from raiding, meaning you can progress through raiding, without grinding for 10k silk like people were worried about
hell, I’ve seen people wanting the first boss to be made harder (I disagree, from a game design perspective it’s in a good spot to teach new raiders about boon stripping, body-blocking, condition requirements, and stacking when appropriate, my one gripe is that the mechanics aren’t conveyed well (eg using a square instead of a boon arrow on the blue miniboss). a “foot in the door” “baby’s first raid boss” deal))
the way FFXIV did it was good.
there were two sets of gear from the final raid, one from tokens and one from drops.
if you got lucky you got the gear directly (Gordian Gear), if not you accumulated the tokens and got the other piece (Esoteric Gear)
it rewards both persistence AND luck
between this and the hand thread, it would be nice if we got a “disable revenant effects out of combat” option like WoW has for Death Knight eyes and voice
Please, this doesn’t need a petition, they know. No one is arguing that this content is satisfying. Just let them know on the forums that this is an issue. Petition just seems… overdramatic.
you must be new to forums, “petition threads” are made exclusively for adding another voice to the crowd, and for people who agreee but don’t want to write an essay about the nature of difficulty in video games to get their voice heard
it’s a token gesture to call it a petition thread and will probably get merged into a single thread by our overzealous moderators so the devs can ignore it easier
You must be new too, ANet do not like “petition threads”, they tend to get locked down or deleted shortly after. They see them as demands, the title would have been better if it said “suggestion, rase open world difficulty”.
As it stands it sounds like a demand, not a request.
I was being snarky, sorry that doesnt translate to text well.
I’m well aware that these threads are futile, I even likened it to “another voice in a crowd”, something that doesnt matter and is unnoticeable, like a gnat farting in a hurricane.
this sort of thing happens in any video game forum, 5 threads of moaning, one “petition”, then they all get merged and ignored :P
and nope, not new, just jaded, decaffinated and snarky. at this point the pattern has repeated so often that it’s just become fun to play along with the theatrics.

Or you are just better at playing, as you now know what to expect? People seem to forget that what makes most things difficult is not knowing what you are doing. Once you do. Most of the difficulty is gone.
in this case that is not true, they completely removed an enemy type (mordrem snipers) and lowered the enemy density
signed. BWE2 was fun, this is just a snoozefest
The first 3 aren’t supposed to be that hard as they’re only mini-bosses. The last one is the only true boss.
ya rofl, the colour dudes are just trash mobs, it’s nice that op thinks they are bosses i guess lol
I never said they were bosses, they drop no loot, they have no lockout, they have no enrage :/
I said they were minibosses, I wouldn’t particularly call them trash since they have mechanics themselves.
for example, look at the Alexander raid in FFXIV, Faust is a miniboss, the Oppressors are the boss, and the goblins in the start area of floor 2 are trash
+1 to this thread, bring back the snipers and increase the mob density again
-1
I LOVE the wrist effect, it’s great flavor for the class, Revs are always channeling (apparently, the legends even chat to you out of combat) so it makes sense the effect is always there.
why not go for the middle-ground? it’s always on,but it is removed when using the reduced particle effects option?
I’d personally be very sad if it was removed.
(edited by Calcifire.1864)
Didn’t know their order was random since we cleared them twice and they were in the same order.
And I mentioned that the boon stripping mechanic was “fairly clear”.
I made it excessively clear as to why the DD immune mob and the teleport mob were boring to fight, it has nothing to do with “failing to understand the mechanic”.
ahhh you were talking about the red one, I thought you were talking about the blue one
never mind then, I probably shouldn’t post when regoing over the raid mentally and sleepily :P
there was a teleport mob? is that what it did?
Are these really the bosses or just mini-bosses before the actual thing?
minibosses really, the Boss boss is the white one at the end
“Next, that mob does nothing significant. Those orbs that run around aren’t deadly enough on their own and since there are no other mechanics to handle for the raiders, moving away from the orbs is basically something you keep in mind instead of something you focus on. Even if you don’t pay attention, the orbs won’t kill you because they do so little damage. In other words, the orbs are a mechanic that you can basically ignore and it’s the only mechanic on the fight. This makes for a very, very boring fight. And going back to my first point, most of your raid does nothing while your condi users do all the heavy lifting, compounding the issue of the fight being extremely boring to do. I can’t stress enough how bad this is for the first mob you encounter in the brand new and shiny raid content. TL;DR: nothing happens, this is boring, why is raiding boring in Guild Wars 2? This is what people are going to think when they first pull that mob and realize there’s basically nothing happening for a few minutes.”
you were supposed to strip his buff and do direct damage, the orbs reapply his buff and need to be body-blocked, it was boring because you failed to understand the mechanic.
and it is best if you call them R G and B, the order is random (I did green, then blue, then red)
so I just got out of the raid (we got to the final boss but the UI glitched out, we crashed and the raid reset), and like a good little test-monkey I have some feedback for the devs
this is a copy of my response on the reddit feedback thread:
red mechanic seemed unclear, our best guess was “use conditions”, it may be a bit easy to brute force however, we one-shot it in a random mix of celestial, zerker, and cleric exotics and ascended despite not knowing what to do, it just took ages.
blue you need to stack in the pillar to stop the raidwide explosion, and use boon removal on the boss to get rid of his shield. the blue orbs need to be body blocked or they remake his shield.
as feedback for the devs: make the blue guy’s shield a boon instead of a square buff to show it can be removed, we wiped once simply because we didn’t know it COULD be dispelled, since square buffs are not usually strippable (to clarify, we read “can be stripped” and assumed it meant “another mechanic will remove this” and spent 3 mins trying to kite it into the Dispersed Magic AoE, not “use boon removal”, because we didn’t realize it was a boon, you should be fighting the enemy, not the UI)
green… we just DPSed it down, we didn’t notice any mechanics. you may want to fix that :/
the final boss, we crashed and the raid reset, it seemed to be a mixture of all the bosses mechanics but powered up (eg, instead of spike damage, not stacking for Dispersed Magic is a straight up wipe)
all in all, it was fun, mechanics were somewhat obscure, but once they were figured out the mobs melted (except the red one, because we didn’t figure it out :/)
I love the “final exam” boss style, though I’ve always been a fan of that type of encounter :P
an excellent start to GW2’s raiding scene
anyone else have feedback to give?
(edited by Calcifire.1864)
How about just creating a stat combination which can be played by every class? How about that stat combination would only need some (basic) skill to use, but would help at any content and be the nicest and fastest way for content? How about a stat combination where it doesn’t matter how experienced you are of if you are new? How about a stat combination everyone only has to build only one time (light/medium/heavy) and that would let them switch runes/sigils pretty easy? How about that these stat combination would be wanted by everyone?
Such gear and stat combination would be really awesome! Well, I think maybe we have it already!!!
It’s called: Ascended berserker gear!
raid mechanic: Adrenaline Poisoning: at 50% the boss will perform an unavoidable AoE, this attack does more damage the more Power and Condition Damage the victim possesses, can be reduced by Toughness and Vitality.
not a hard mechanic to add, but would be hilarious to see people in full zerker and no survivability dropping like flies.
2. They specifically stated on twitch and youtube that you will get ascended via doing the lower wings which do not require it to complete them. So obtaining more ascended prior to that final wing is guaranteed via the path of raid progression.
wouldn’t it be nice if they clarified that here instead of VoDs that are impossible to search through unless a transcript is given?
all they need to say is “the first wing will be beatable in full exotics” and everything will be fixed, no grinding of materials or gold will be required, no grinding of fractals will be required.
to progress in raids, all you have to do is raid. that is what most of the detractors want, to raid instead of grind.
And the main thing is you shouldnt have to grind for a month or more after hitting 80 to try a you re first raid. No raid mmo i have ever seen did that.
Except for the biggest raid MMO out there, WoW. Or do you truly want to tell me, people got into motlen core straight off the bat after hitting 60? Or Black Temple straight once they hit 70? There were even attunement quests which took hours to just be allowed to enter. (I could go on, but I guess you get my point)
Also, no one says you can’t give raids a shot in exotics, just that you won’t get that far. No one forces you to wait a month too. You can craft full ascended equipment within minutes.
using vanilla is not a good example, considering how the devs have gone on record saying “yeah, that was a bad idea, we’re not doing that again”.
you couldn’t enter MC because of the fire resist required, it would be like the new raid requiring 100 AR to survive.
wildstar recently showed what happens when you require attunements: it died after people started having trouble getting into raids
and in recent content in WoW, you CAN enter pretty much straight away (as in, a few HOURS of grinding, not months. hitting 90 in MoP let you go to the timeless isle, which let you get enough gear to ener the first few wings of LFR Siege Of Orgrimmar
I calculated the cost of making ascended gear in “a few minutes”: it came out as costing over 600 gold for light armor. and before you say “well buy gems” at current rates, that puts the cost of ascended gear HIGHER THAN HoT ITSELF.
you actually used the examples that the devs gave of what they wanted to AVOID in GW2
Anyone played Wildstar? I didn’t myself, but what I read about it was something like "caters the hardcore crowd, has it flaws, but the dungeons/raids are great". Having this in mind, I did some quick google research and now look what I found out about Jason Reynolds.4297 previous work at LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/pub/jason-reynolds/10/3b3/954
:)
it was fun, attunements for raids were a bit crap (screw "get max rep with all dominion factions", and the "get gold in veteran dungeons" made the dungeon community pretty cancerous (one death from ANYONE? everyone dropped group. not a speedrun? drop group. fail an optional objective? drop group.) >_>) but the encounter design is a JOY to experience.
I remember the first time my guild did Kel Voreth at release, the wipe we had on the final boss when it went into its "ground AoE bullet hell" phase had us laughing so hard at wtf we were suddenly dealing with
world and level design is brilliant too, my one sorrow is that I can’t dual-path explorer and scientist for jumping puzzles AND lore (and puzzles)
I wonder how GW2 would fare if it adoped the "dodging does not give invincibility frames" mechanic?
if the guy who did the level design for W* is now on the raid team, I’m expecting this to be a treat
(and I’ll say it again "GW2 need chua, chua best race, better than bunny ears, maybe breed charr/asura? *cackles manically*")
(edited by Calcifire.1864)
Keep your zerker armor its the most expensive and still the most useful. Trinkets can make a decent dent, unless you are going for full tank.
celestial is more expensive, about doublethe price in fact, 1g 41s 25c per charged quartz crystal, 62s 81c for a powerful blood. (and annoyingly, you can’t just buy it, you have to get the raw crystals and charge them yourself, one per day, it takes 25 crystals to make one charged, and you can get 22 per day if you don’t get an extra harvest or a charged pr 5 crystal harvest)
AND you need to buy the recipes, not discover them
130 scraps per hour is very little if you salvage stuff you get and sell mats you don’t need. And “silk has exploded in cost since then”. Other mats did so too and will continue exploding with hot. This combined with how easy you can get them will allow you to get 130 scrap in few minutes. By the time you write your post some random Billy equipped with harvesting tools can hop around the world, get some gold, do his daily ascended crafting and log off.
ok, you’ve said it’s possible, but HOW?
everyone always says how easy it is to do things then never says how!
yesterday I tallied up the silk I got from salvaging my stuff from vinewrath and the subsequent champ farm, it resulted in 53 scraps.
am I just supernaturally unlucky? am I missing out on a big secret?
It is not that large now as it was 2 or even 1 year ago. And it will be even less of a grind in hot. Amount of gold game just throws at people for barely doing anything is going up every few months.
if you are wearing light armor, you need 10800 scraps of silk.
currently silk is selling for 2s 79c
that means that you need to spend 301g 32s to make the armor.
now let’s add the rest of the materials, shall we?
according to gw2spidy, the current cost to make the damask is 467g 63s 64c
the cost for the leather is 18g 67s 74c
crystalline dust is 28g 51s 20cso a minimum of 514g 82s 58c
and that’s not including the cost of exotics for dark matter, the insignias you need for the stats (hope you don’t want celestial, because that’s an unavoidable 30 day time gate), or vendor bought materials like thermocatalytic reagents or gossamer thread
over 515g and 36 days to make a set of armor, even more expensive if you want to skip the time gating
and you say that that ISN’T a grind?
when you start measuring things in quantities of TEN THOUSAND in a game with a stack size of 250, the devs need to re-evaluate their recipe costs
compared to a few years ago, the grind is WORSE, silk has exploded in cost since then.
And if you actually play this game for at least 2 hours/day you can drop this price to less than 100 gold.
oh? how is that? by gathering the ten thousand scraps of silk yourself?
how many days are we talking? to do it within the month you’d need to get 130 scraps of silk per hour at that rate.
two hours a day of doing nothing but farming silk. god that DEFINITELY doesn’t sound like a grind.
PvE raids shouldn’t stand for “player versus economy”
(edited by Calcifire.1864)
hell, it would be nice if they looked at the stupid amount of silk needed full stop
medium armor needs 7200 silk scraps
heavy armor needs 7500 silk scraps
light armor needs 10800 silk scraps.
the amount of mats needed is just plain unreasonable

Wow, 7 pages already? I think the Moderators need to edit the subject line of this topic as the OP is misleading in this post. I was the second reply on this thread which basically knocked down this entire subject. But I digress.
When the game was released full groups would wipe in Arah dungeon. Now we can watch a video of someone soloing it using one finger.
After HoT launches and the raid encounters are memorized to a exact science, with guides and videos made, you can prepare for forum and reddit posts with a Youtube videos with the subject line " X raid boss in full green gear defeated" or " X raid boss killed while naked," 10 man of all the same profession take down X in X time"
We have about 22 days till launch and people are spinning their wheels and grinding their teeth and gears ready to pounce and nit pick at anything since they have nothing better to do.
For the sake of prosperity if this thread is not deleted I am going to book mark it and bring it up next year just to see how people whined while still playing “Vanilla” GW2
posterity, not prosperity.
it will be interesting to see if all of the idealists in this thread turn out to be correct about the whole “should/must” thing, I have a horrible feeling that it’s going to result in “full ascended or kick” being the norm in the same way that “full zerker only” became a thing, except in this case, it can’t be fixed by throwing a trivial amount of gold at it
Ascended gear is out an eternity, if you don’t have single character with ascended gear you’re doing it wrong. Raiding won’t be your thing then anyways, the game has lots of other stuff to offer.
there are reasons for not having ascended gear, for example:
I have a necro, mesmer, engi and ele.
I plan on maining Rev exclusively when HoT is released.
guess what ascended armor and crafting profession I DON’T have?
I’m just praying that the early bosses will be doable in just ascended accessories, the cost for making ascended armor in a timely manner is just stupid, 12g (or 300 scraps of silk) for a bolt of damask, and I need 25 >_>.
(edited by Calcifire.1864)
I think you misspelled “Chua”, GW2 definitely needs Chua…
brb, setting up charr/asura crossbreeding experiment
From the same ppl who said that guild challenges were giing to be impossible. Honestly with the class disparity I don’t think that 5% better gear matters. Also exo vs ascended is less then 1 dodge/miss away.
it’s not the raid bosses I’m worried about, it’s the community.
a dev says “should”, a raid leader hears “must”
welp, looks like with the “raids will require ascended gear” bomb just dropped, looks like I’m going to need to switch priorities.
I WAS planning on getting celestial gear and slowly upgrading it to ascended, but now it seems like I’ll have to just skip straight to ascended as soon as I start, and blow a bunch of gold on leveling my armorcrafting to 500 and on damask, because screw getting ANOTHER 30 quartz.
stupid daily limit on quartz…
The reward structure right now for raids is
1) Raid exclusive minis and skins
2) Ascended chests
3) Legendary-track related matsWhat out of those rewards would you give players for completing the “lower difficulty”? If you give any of those to the people who are doing the easier content, then why would anybody do the harder version?
a chance for ascended chests.
some champ loot bags and a chest of ascended crafting mats.
the lower difficulty would be a way of seeing the lore and getting gear for the harder raid with all the shinies, the reward is being able to actually see the story
so much for “no gear treadmill” and “we will never make ascended gear mandatory outside fractals”
I’m not sure how the hell they will balance them, considering that there is only a 5% difference in total stats. if they balance around DPS, then zerker will be required due to the DPS requirement, if they balance around mitigation, then it becomes impossible for glass cannons to survive and makes mitigation required.
the ONLY way it could work is if they balanced around celestial, or made a new type of raid infusion for armors instead of rings and necks
So since it’s obvious we can’t agree if it is a problem, maybe we can suggest a better price ratio that we (people who do have a problem with the price) can agree would seem more fair. As in like total cost of crafting pre = some percent of pre’s average price on the trading post. i think i would be fine if the collection cost about half as much as the pre.
I think that would be disastrous to the game’s narrative. If the recipe requirements to craft/collect each precursor were based on the current TP price of precursors, Arnenanet would openly declare that they consider the marketplace the most important game-play mode.
well it is, is it not? (screw you forum software)
Imean,it’s even in the names:
World vs World
Player vs Player
Player vs Economy
Even the most expensive pre’s cost less than 50% of a legendary. I don’t really understand why this thread is always shifted to the ‘I want it cheaper’ idea. Cheaper pre would mean cheaper legendary’s and we all now that anet since release never wanted to change that overall legendary price.
I’ll repeat one more time:
If selling the mats (means you went and played the fun part to get those mats, no skipping of the fun part) required to make a legendary earns you enough money to buy the precursor on the TP and then leave you with lots of extra gold, then what’s the point of this new system?Having fun on the precursor journey?
Believe it or not, there are plenty of people around who enjoy traveling the world with a purpose in mind, collecting and crafting their own stuff, without caring about selling/rebuying for optimized coin gain.
Let’s say you don’t want to buy the precursor on the TP but instead you go on the fun journey to make the precursor yourself! You travel the world and complete various fun challenges, making the game much more fun and enjoyable in the process. The system works well so far.
Here is the tricky part, once you gather everything in order to craft your precursor, you realize that if you sell everything that is sellable, you will earn enough gold to buy the precursor and then have enough left-overs to begin a new one (!!!)
And to be a bit more exact, according to my calculations selling (not buying) all materials needed to craft the Colossus will net you ~400g, I used a lot of assumptions to reach that price but it doesn’t include the price to craft many of the items needed for the collection itself. For example, they tell us you will need to craft the container that will hold the oozes, you might need to craft the food for your ooze, and so on and so on. In other words, crafting the Colossus might well require materials that if you SELL them you will earn way more than 400g.
If all precursors are like that then the whole process is useless for any precursor that is worth below 400g. What’s the point in collecting materials that will give you 400g if the precursor itself is 200g, just sell the mats and BUY it instead of crafting it! The mats you got having fun and being on the journey btw.
the two extra account-bound skins you get exclusively from the precursor scavenger hunt?
Assuming leveling through PvE world exploring, seems like Sigil of Speed/swiftness on kill -food will be pretty much required for Revenant.
target a critter or enemy/passive near where you want to be, use the shiro shadowstep, use it again, use it again, you are now 3600 units away from where you were 2 seconds ago.
we also have 8 seconds of 50% movement speed with a 10 second recharge, which is only slightly worse than a 100% uptime 25% buff, except it also works in combat.
we have some INSANE mobility.
(and as mentioned, we have a 100% 33% speed buff when in dragon stance)
then not enough time anymore to complete the whole item hunt to get that flaming book, because characters were simply too weak and not progressed enough in the game to be able to reach all the places where you had to go for that book back item…
I’m calling BS right here, I got that book three times on level 2 characters, absolutely no part of it required you to levelor even fight enemies, the hardest part was getting to sparkfly fen through bloodtide coast, but it was still possible with dodging and making sure to unlock waypoints.
So I guess it’s probably this:
- Sword – Berserker
- Clock – Chrono (surprise!)
- Boot – Daredevil
- Strange shield – DragonBlunter
- Sun – Druid
- Dragon – Herald
- Hooded man – Reaper
- Gear – Scrapper
- Whirl – Tempest
However I am surprised there’s still no discussion about this picture in HoT and other classes subforums. Looks like they are too busy complaining about recent patch.
it is unlikely to be a coincidence that they are alphabetical
Lol, I didn’t notice. Nice remark.
ANet have a habit of doing things alphabetically when it comes to classes, for example, look at the patch notes :P
the order in the imgur album is the order they were mined from the files, so it’s likely that ANet followed their usual standard of making it alphabetical

accidentally forgot to stop us from making revenants?
because godkitten I would have loved that to be the case
I’m expecting Thorn to try to burst through the statue again, but all that happens is we hear a thud, then he teleports onto the plaza with a crack on his head, and complains about the lack of statue and how concrete sucks for bursting through dramatically ;P
permaswiftness with glint (which is a 33% buff, so WAY better than a 25% buff)
50% movement speed buff with shiro’s Impossible Odds
spammable shadowsteps as long as you have a target
Everything they’ve indicated pretty much shows that Revenants will be absolutely no different than any other class/story/experience in the game. You’ll still have to do 1-80. You’ll still start in your racial starting instance. You’ll still do everything as normal. For level specifically, Roy mentioned he had a scroll/tomes ready so that pretty much confirms 1-80 leveling.
Your two choices are do what most of us plan to do, just not think about it, or if you’re some kinda roleplayer then think of some kinda reason or something.
I’m personally going to assume that either 1-point of no return was a flashback and I was doing stuff as a necro the whole time, or 1-ponr was a fractal and was a training excersise after becoming a revenant (as in, I did 1-ponr as a necro, became a revenant, then relived 1-ponr again as a “what if?” scenario to get experience)
