Jade Quarry since launch then I started wandering the borderlands of Yak’s Bend
Ahh, OK. Well in my previous games movement was good, but not neccessary as it is in this game. It took me a couple weeks to really get the idea that I should always keep in motions. My Sylvari Elemantalist spent her first nearly whole week being chain “whomped” by Risen Brutes.
And don’t step out on the edge of a wall trying to AoE down on attackers. You will be pulled down and /emotes of LOL will fly across your chat screen.
Wall fishing, it’s not a ‘catch & release’ program.
It’s great to hear that you’re enjoying it. WvW has definitely been my most favored game zone for the past half year now. It’ll be nice to have new faces and guild tags to share our loot bags.
…but not that one…that one’s MINE! :P
You know I’ll never be able to read any of his posts now with out picturing a superhero costume…
You’re so bad, Freelancer. :p
That’s all I would ask, and all I think it’s fair to expect. Now I know some PvE visitors are going to be darned good fighters and strategists right out of the gate. The rest may not be so good. But in the main I just would like them to make the attempt. I’m hoping by the end of the week when the lust for achieves was grown a little dimmer that we’ll all be able to start integrating this windfall of eager new players into each servers play and tactics.
1. A queue system that actually shows your remaining time or number of players ahead of you . Perhaps a way to guesstimate the queues on the different BLs before queueing.
2. Fix skill lag issues when doing large scale fights on open map or even worse, in keeps/tower/castle.
3. Account bound WxP rank points (in the style of PvE player traits, same amount across all characters but spendable per character in varied lines) to make your alts not feel useless. Or perhaps you can remove the traits altogether and utilize Bloodlust buffs for the boosts.
4. Commander pins that functioned properly for leading large groups or multiple small squads in this WvW zone (ability to change colors or something when 2+ pinned on one map. A different one (color/shape) for PvE zones.
5. Make defending/scouting/escorting worthwhile in terms of WxP or have it provide actual contribution to PPT beyond holding for tick.

Right on Sitkaz. We need more posts like this—for the humor and the helpful suggestion. The issues that are cropping up aren’t necessarily PvW visitors faults, and we all need a smile now before tempers get raw.
Jeez, I can’t believe that this has been the situation since launch and never been fixed (wait…ok, nvm. Yes i can)
There have been quite a few /facepalm moments for me with this whole LS patch. It’s like piling heavy stones in a barrow, one after the other after the other. I’m not stressed, but I can only imagine the pea-sized beads of sweat on our WvW dev team’s foreheads from knowing what they’ll have to deal with each day at work.

+1 Bravo Bravo Ciuffo!

Why is it only t1 people doing the complaining?
Since you were on JQ since start, did you cry about the queues for WvW then? I know we had queues on SBI in those days.
It is what it is. Some servers in t1 didn’t just have guilds move to them by chance, but they actively recruited them. This has lead to the problems that you are complaining about, not anything Anet did.
Most of the servers are actually enjoying having the new blood, and maybe some old blood who has returned. T1, you are in the minority.
I have indeed been on JQ since the beginning. I like the people here and my guild is strong in WvW because we make it a priority. I have no interest in moving just to satisfy folks who wrongheadedly believe that players and guilds from T1 lurk about in dark corners trying to lure your poor, helpless WvW players away with the shine of our filthy gold.
I’m personally sick of hearing about that. I haven’t kidnapped anyone. I don’t believe any other guild in T1 was required to stoop so low in order to get players to flock here. As far as I’m aware everyone who plays this game is supposedly an adult (or at least over 13) and therefore capable of making decisions in their own best interest. In other words, it was their own choice and none of your concern.
So, I haven’t whined yet about queues. I have stated that in my entire time playing I had not experienced queues this long before. I also said that it seemed like the planning for this situation wasn’t well thought out.
Regardless of how you or I feel about over population or ‘stacking’ for League Season 1, the amount of lag in WvW, the long waits to join, and the hiccoughs and stutters that are also happening in other areas of game play are causes for concern—and yes, annoyance—to players. Note that I did not say T1 players. This affects many of us. Some Silver and Bronze server players in EU league have mentions lag on forums tonight. Please do not speak to me about ‘most servers enjoying’. You seem not to have noticed things said by people in your own Leagues. I certainly don’t need to hear any ill-considered opinions about mine.
There are some problems PvE side as well.
I was in a fight with the candy corn boss in Labyrinth earlier and I was not the only one saying in map chat that skills were not going off. We were lagging there the same way that people are lagging in WvW.
I personally have DC’d repeatedly today and yesterday. This is not something that is only about WvW, Leagues or ‘stacking’. It’s about trying to fit too many people into the entire GW2 ecosphere. If it was just WvW I don’t think quite so many feathers would be ruffled.
Having an influx of new players is, I think , an overall good thing for the game. But to have the new players come into the game and get hit with a wall of lag to the face cannot be a wonderful first impression.
To have a new, special WvW LS event that draws more players there kick off at the same time as a sale that lures in more GW2 players, and a Halloween event that draws more players happen at the same time is just silly. We lag occasionally in big fights in WvW at T1. This is accepted as the price we pay for the fun and excitement of big fights. It is NOT a price we should pay while doing PvE dailies or trying to make a new alt.
Disconnections multiple times in 2 consecutive days after a year into this game is also not a price many of us expect to pay for just trying to log in and play. This is not whining or self pity. It’s annoyance at such head-shaking, eye-rolling, silly and ill-advised decision.
@Hravan -I agree with a large part of your post. While I think that anybody should be and IS welcome in WvW, it was rather ridiculous of ANet to not think this through and have perhaps a Pre-Season Achievment to let hardcore PvE’ers get their toes wet before the real fights kicked off.
Having to deal with newcomers learning the ropes, a Halloween event LS, and a 40% sale on the game on the very same time that Season 1 opened is just poor planning. If they saw the kinds of ridiculous overflows that Scarlet Events and Tequatl living stories led to on the open world parts of PvE servers, why didn’t they expect and make plans for the kinds of global skill and gameplay lag that is occurring in GW2 from this perfect storm of content?
WvW has already got rigidly defined player caps per map and has NO wiggle room for shenanigans like this. To taunt us with the upcoming queue-free WvW map at the same time that they serve up a LS patch focused on WvW is just asking for what we’ve gotten….meltdowns, practically.
I don’t think WvW is being destroyed, but I definitely think that this whole first week of Leagues was pretty much knee-capped by the ‘Lack of Planning dept.’.
Lair of the Coil, Tail of the Serpent in Timberline Falls, and Griffonrook Run (jump puzzle) in Lornar’s Falls.
Sector Zuhl (dredge/destroyer jump puzzle), Tribulation Caverns (the ice cave jump puzzle) and Forsaken Halls in Dredgehaunt Cliffs.
All of those are kind of oddball areas that you need to go near or into for the exploration to pop up for you.
Going over each map for area names from top to bottom to see that the white text naming the area is showing is a good way to help pinpoint the spots you still need.
I hope those help you find the missing area. Good Luck!

Hey people,
for few weeks Anet was telling you that moving to T1 is not good idea.
They also made some free transfers so you can move from overpopulated servers.
Nobody cared about it that time.
The supposed ‘free transfers’ were to Medium population servers. Of course, NA doesn’t have any of those. EU doesn’t have many either. They all range from Medium to mostly High/Very High/Full servers. But this person feels the need to cross post on multiple threads about how “T1 brought this on themselves” and “no one transferred to MY server to help ME”. /whine
One thing that is becoming abundantly clear is: regardless of WvW turn out, that Ring of Fire server has enough population that if the players wanted to WvW they would. Seeing this person as their ambassador from WvW, however, explains why so many of them DON’T WANT TO.
snip
We in bronze are laughting about queues in T1 and about your whiningI’ve been on Jade Quarry since this game opened and I’ve had queues before, no doubt. But these queues are longer, and less likely to let you into WvW than I’ve ever experienced. So I’m on a Tier 1 server, I deserve what I get? That’s the way you behave while expecting others to have sympathy for your supposed plight of getting facerolled each time your 4 man guild steps out of spawn?
Go on and keep laughing. We don’t mind. Stay jealous of the fact that other servers might have wait times….but we also have fights. Not just tumbleweeds blowing across the sad, dusty, deserted borderlands like you so self-righteous Tier-Who-Cares, No-One-Pays-You-Any-Attention servers.
You can’t have fights if you’re in a queue…
…and we’re not jealous.
I’m happy to hear that. However since I was replying to the person from RoF who thought it was wise to make a gloating, snarky OP, I’m at a loss as to why you felt a need to inform me. Protesting too much, I think.
My remarks weren’t directed toward you, but if it stings that much… /shrug
And since you sound like you may be completely new to the game…you probably have 5 char slots to fill. ^.^
Go on and make one of each of those 2 classes that intrigue you. Play them both. No need to really worry about splitting your time because this game levels you pretty quickly.
You get experience for gathering, exploring new areas of the map, doing events, and finishing hearts/zones. In less than a week you’ll have a good feel for both’s basic play styles and can choose which (or neither) you might want to focus on.
For all you know now, it might be guardian or mesmer that turns out to have the class mechanic that floats your boat.
Don’t lock yourself into anything at all yet. Tyria is yours to explore, conquer…and basically goof around in.
Depending on how desperate some folks get about having their WvW addiction fed or how enthusiastic PvE’ers are about getting those achievements, they might make a killing in the BLTP selling that.
Hey people,
for few weeks Anet was telling you that moving to T1 is not good idea.
They also made some free transfers so you can move from overpopulated servers.
Nobody cared about it that time. And it is not Anet fault. I dont see people from Bronze league whining about queues. Rarely i see people from silver league. And there are servers you moved from.
There was queue before start of the leagues. You count count with queues after start of the league, but you still moved there or stayed there. It is not Anet fault.ps: i am not Anet fanboy, i rarely agree with them, but this is just true. We in bronze are laughting about queues in T1 and about your whining

The issue is that anet says the new map will fix issues like this. It won’t, it will just give everyone who is bugged out of the borderlands some other meaningless place to wait while the people in the borderlands still can’t get friendlies in.
I heard someone say somewhere that whoever queues the map first ends up getting the most people in. I wonder if there is any truth to this statement.
I don’t think so. My very WvW active guild has often stood in groups on Friday resets and near-simultaneously hit the button for entering a bl map….but then half of us just don’t get in anyway. It’s the luck of the draw, or RNG biting us in the butt.
Coming from a more static gameplay model like WoW (for me it was GW1 & LotRO), this video about movement might be of some assistance to you in getting your head wrapped around the differences in GW2 style battles.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUKWeaXZeOY
Another thing, which sort of came to mind while thinking of this vid is: each class has different game modes, but there is some overlap. Meaning that a warrior is great at melee, but can still use a rifle or longbow to good effect. Elementalist can be ranged with staff or in your face and hard-to-handle with dual daggers. Thief can use a shortbow, pistols, daggers, shortsword.
So even within a certain class you can have variety. Go on and make your 5 chars and play around to see what you like. Maybe leave the 5th slot for your experiments and delete/make new versions as the mood strikes you.
{Scully.6849
Another question, what server should I choose to have the best experience? Dont want to be stuck on a dead server}
_______________
Server wise, it won’t matter a hell of a lot which you choose.** ~
You’re allowed to “Guest” to any server of your group (NA servers or EU servers are different group) That basically means that if you don’t feel like the PvE area you are in is vibrant at the times you play, you can go to the char select screen and choose to guest on a different server and play the game exactly as you would at ‘home’.
~** World vs World vs World is the only part that might matter population-wise. WvWvW is wide scale open map PvP with castles & keeps. Your server versus 2 others in a week long 24-7 battle. This area of the game is based on your home server so if your Tier (<— WvWvW ranking) has low WvWvW population, then you may have smaller fights or losing matches. If you go into our WvW forums you’ll see helpful and occasionally bitter discussions about the differences in “coverage”. What coverage means is: how many people (on an otherwise flourishing PvE server) plays the world vs world zone at different times of day or night.
If you like 1v1’s and small group tactics in PvP then one of the lower tier servers might be best fit for you. Low pop means no waiting in lines to join the war effort, no huge blob fights, and rarely laggy.
As you go up in tiers, you get other options.
Medium gets you small, medium and occasional huge blob fights—zergs. Some skill and gameplay lag but not as common as all that.
Once you get up to the higher tiers you get mainly zerg fights of 40+ vs 40+ vs 40+. Those can be epic and awe inspiring hour long running battles…or just slideshows of absolutely horrendous lag. It’s a coin toss which some nights.
All are fun n stuff but it’s basically up to you to think of what you like most in a game.
PvE, which you can do from any home server, or WvWvW, which will require a bit more thinking and weighing of options.
I understand the skill lag we get in WvW in big 3 way fights and I know you guys are working on it
snip
Can you please fix this? Restart your walmart servers? Something? A response??
It’s just that the hamsters got loose from their wheels and are causing mass confusion and hysteria in the lunch room. Takes time to call the devs down from on top of the chairs screaming but once they leave a trail of hamster pellets back to the cages all will be well in Tyria. We just gotta be patient.
Also, be sure you’re in a level appropriate area. if you’re 19, that means being in Queensdale/Kessex, Wayfarer/Snowden, Ashford/Diessa, or Metrica/Caledon/Brisban.
Basically the level 1-25 zones.
You can move around to any of those and be able to hold your own vs monsters your level or lower. This game inflicts a penalty for going 1-2-3 levels higher though, so where you may just be able to handle 3 level 14 mobs, 1 level 20 or 21 can be a handful til you get a bit more seasoned.
Another tip as a starter is to use any new weapon type that your class can equip. It helps you to unlock that weapon set’s skills and you might find that a certain weapon or play style (melee/range/condition) will suit you best at this time. That can sometimes make a difference while you’re learning the ropes.
Also, your original healing skill (hotkey 6) is the flying meat puppet. It heals you with each attack it does and also heals for a bit more when you destroy it. While it isn’t bad, going into your Hero panel and spending a skill point on Consume Conditions heal skill can be a nice boost to survivability.
Edit: oh yeah, if you find yourself low on health and your heal is on cooldown, you can press F1 for the necromancer special mechanic and turn into Death Shroud form. this basically gives you new skills and an extra HP bar that the monsters have to wear away before they can kill you. great for when you just need 4-5 more seconds til a heal is ready or for if you want to run away from a fight that takes a bad turn.
(edited by Carize.8532)
Going into WvW upleveled isn’t a sin, don’t let anyone try to make you feel bad about it. That’s a great way to level while you watch and read the map chat / commander talk and learn the ‘ways of the WuvWuv’. While you may find yourself outpowered in a open field battle you can still help your server tremendously by being someone in a tower or keep that has an eye on the gates and walks the walls and alerts the /map chat to any movement in your area.
Scouts can be the difference between your borderland keeping the upgraded Tier 3 keep they worked so hard for or losing it to a small havoc group that no one saw sneaking around. Having the server voice chat program and hearing all the calls and explanations there can be very useful and informative even if you are in a static position.
If you want to mix it up and follow the pin, do so but be aware that your learning curve might be steep at first. It’s fine, your one free enemy rally won’t make or break the tide of the fight and you’ll get valuable experience in open map fighting (and kiting!) Even a level 20 can carry 10 supply to help your team build siege or repair structures faster.
Go kick butt.
+1 to this.
It’s an example of functionality that would have been a great QoL port from the original GW.
Yeah, let me say I actually didn’t see your top post, sorry. Well rather…I did but immediately got distracted when one person mentioned rolling a guard or warr.
reading comprehension fail on my part
For your thief, or for any other class you choose to create, a nice way to take a trial run is to make class X and then take it into the PvP lobby (crossed swords symbol at the top of your screen). Dont have to play thru more than the first story bit in order to access PvP and you get to try a class at max level. All skills and weapons are unlocked and there’s a mini map of tutorial training areas where you can see what it feels like a bit. You aren’t locked in to PvP, you’re just temporarily up-leveled while in the zone there. If you tool around with it a while and then want to try a different class or race or just want to go out into the real world with that character—you can do that just by pressing B and leaving the PvP lobby.
First off i have to say thank you for using Spoiler in the beginning, but couldn’t you have given it a few dropped lines after that?
:spoiler marking: followed immediately with the actual spoilers one line lower kinda defeats the purpose, ya know?
Ok ok, anyway as to your post i wholeheartedly agree with your points. the personal story is hardly personal and many folks have said it in this past year. i can only hope they eventually plan some sort of revamp to it that sands down some of the roughest parts. You meet some folks in the beginning—warband, krewe, norn mentors, sylvari dreamers, best friend (human)—and then as soon as you start to almost care why things are happening to them you get shuffled along to a new 10 level story arc {which really only has 3-4 story instances to it}. Meet more people, see what happens to them, be proclaimed a Hero for doing sort of ‘meh’ deeds, then move on to being told that YOU must broker a peace between the 3 factions that can’t agree. Lolwhut?
Hijinks ensue, crocodile tears are shed, and with your ‘personal’ psuedo-adventure completed you find out that actually you were just a placeholder til they found the Real Heroâ„¢. Thanks for showing up, here’s this incredibly lame booby-prize of an instance filled will mind-numbing minutes of standing around watching the clouds go by before shooting glitchy cannons at a few really boring dragons.
HUZZAH!
How did they manage to make random chit-chat amongst NPCs in LA sound more convincing and interesting than an set battle vs the big bad of the whole game?
head explodes
So much incidental side story stuff was well fleshed and voiced while leaving the central story disjointed and meaningless and seemingly performed by actors reading pop up flash cards in an empty room…
I think what you’re liking on Ele D/D is the mix of melee and semi-range skills. I agree with you that i don’t much care for dagger on my necro but that’s just mainly that i don’t like the skill set and don’t much care for the ‘feel’ of it. As someone else mentioned, try out a thief. they have great gap closers and bursts with quite a bit of movement skills inherent that makes the D/x thief more mobile and exciting for me.
There is a way for reporting someone who abuses the LFG tool. Kicking someone in an instance for no reason would fall under that, I imagine. Right click their name in chat and choose the report option. That seems like the only way to flag someone who is griefing. Without your feedback in that way I can’t really see how they’d figure out who needed that 72hr ban you mention.
I’d say Elementalist or Ranger >.> (Ignore my sig, I’m NOT biased…really!)
Ele because I love the game play with so many attunements giving you new skills/roles and being able to do burst/heal/control/support, all with the flick of the F1-4 keys.
Ranger because I believe it has one of the most forgiving learning curves for a beginner to this game packed with very fun play styles. Pew Pew! with a bow, then swap to Axe/Warhorn! ~oh noes, the biiiirds!~ Also, seeing my lil Asura gal go flying across the screen to wallop somebody with GreatSword #3 is just comedy gold.
“You’re dumb, you’ll die and you’ll leave a dumb corpse.” Ganna S.
I’d like that. Don’t know how feasible or not, but it’d be appreciated. That’s certain.
Forgive me if I’m just being blind or slow-witted…but what is that image supposed to show? I don’t see anything out of the ordinary.

OHHHHH. Yep, now that you point it out I see it. ~hug~ I do feel your pain, my friend. One of the most frustrating things is seeing the pain train headed your way and unable to use a skill to survive. :’(

I’m outclassed by a monkey. At least IT got a bottle of juice for its efforts.
Ignore the “Go back to PvE”. <—- Reply to a now-deleted post, it seems.
Anyway…
Welcome to WvW I hope you enjoy it! (Even with low frame rates sometimes).
As to why it happens, I’ve seen some very technical discussions on this forum between players and sometimes players + Devs about why and when and where this occurs. The upshot seems to be…they aren’t sure. Devs are working on it (go check out some old tech support pages) but they haven’t nailed down a reason so far. PvE or WvW, FPS drops just seem to rear up out of ‘nowhere’.
I have hope that eventually they’ll work it out and til then we just all deal with it as best we can.
(edited by Carize.8532)
Are you sure this isn’t a troll arguing with his sockpuppet? Honestly, Dese vs Nuzt? Those names can’t just be a hilarious coincidence….
As someone else said, don’t get discouraged. When I first began exploring WvW gameplay it was after about 5 months of PvE and learning this game. I was turned off at first by people being disparaging in map chat about “militia” or “stupid pugs” or just “pugs”. C’mon veterans, can’t you see a new player as a possible asset instead of instantly slotting them into the role of annoyance? We all started out new at some point and WvW isn’t instantly intuitive. You needed time to learn the maps, the jargon, and the play style. Give others that same opportunity.
To OP, welcome to the asylum, go nuts.
Edit: Also be sure to get into whichever voice chat program your guild or server uses. Some of the best fun to be had is hearing your commander or party leader say something like—“We’re probably gonna die doing this, but what the kitten, I wanna try it!” (hilarious deaths ensue)
~grins at Morb~
Those moments are just as valuable as the times when your group wipes out the enemy team.
(edited by Carize.8532)
Also, if your server has a community TeamSpeak/Mumble/Vent then get familiar with it and use it often. Follow other commanders and listen to their styles when they are capturing, defending, or just moving the group from point to point.
Be sure to type the voice-chat server connection info into /map chat a lot. It will help both you as a commander and also anyone following you if all can hear what you’re planning, and what you want from them.
Now, having said that, don’t neglect to type occasional commands or clarifications into /map chat for those who cannot or will not use voice chat.
IE: “Heading to Ogres.”
“Need a scout to keep watch at Hills/SM/NW tower”
“Stay with pin, folks”
“Rally at spawn now.”
Little things like letting your group know what you want or are thinking will make them more trusting of you and help to keep them together when you get into a fight.
I think everyone here should just come to accept that every server
-double teams
-hacks
-zergs/blobsNo one server is better than the other (morally). We’re all equally bad.
For me that’s the fun of T1. OK, we may have days where skill lag is annoying (nay, rage-inducing) but that is the price for the hilarious fights where we see Enemy #1 {SoR} roll up and over the back of Enemy #2 {BG}
loud cackling laughs on TS “Did you see that??!! HA HA HAAAAA!”
Then when it’s our turn to get steamrolled by the other two servers it is, of course: "Oh those JERKS!!!
scornful muttering
I looooove the JQ\SoR\BG weeks, man….
I know that this isn’t game breaking or even extremely mind bending…but that wasn’t my point. I think it is silly of them to have chosen overlapping nomenclature. The fact that they name a harpoon gun “speargun” in the weapon title and call a spear a harpoon nowhere else except in its achievement is just cause for giggles and head scratching.
No one ragequit or logged out over it. We just had a couple minutes of LOLWTF.
I was talking with friends last night about achievement points and what we’d like to finish up or work on and we all wound up having definition problems.
Here’s how it went:
I mentioned that I was close to finishing a tier of Speargun Master and my friend says that they were very close as well, but had nearly no kills under Harpoon Master.
(Look in your achievements under General>Weapon Master)
So as we looked and discussed this I noticed that my Ranger has a Berserker’s Speargun of Bloodlust. But when you look at the weapon info pop-up, it’s called a “Harpoon Gun”.
I load up my Thief, and she has a Ravaging Verdant Spear of Battle and a Berserker’s Speargun of Bloodlust. The 1st one is called a spear and the 2nd weapon is a harpoon gun.
We were trying to figure out which weapon falls under what achievement type and to be honest it isn’t very clear at first look.
Spears are labeled “spear” on the weapon info window but considered harpoons in this game, and therefore fall under Harpoon Master.
Harpoon guns have Speargun in the title but are labeled “Harpoon gun” on the weapon info window…and they fall under Speargun Master.
TL;DR: it’s not gamebreaking but WTF Anet? Can’t you keep this crap straight at all?
Even reading the wiki just lets you know they just shrugged and said “Whatever dude…”
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Speargun “The harpoon gun, also known as spear gun (not to be confused with spear),”
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Spear “The spear, also known as harpoon,”
Personally I see this as MORE reason for fights as you can get points off them. In close fights it lends more credence to battles and strategy. In fights where you’re already getting trounced, who cares if they get even more points?
Though I would like to see an internal timer set against stomp points to hinder alt account farming… something like once a person is stomped, they don’t count again for 10-15 mins.
To reply to your second point first:
According to Devon Carver, the stomp will only give points if it would have given WXP. https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/borderlands-bloodlust-in-world-vs-world
So alt- or stomp-farming won’t really be possible in that way. Some up-leveled char or hopelessly out-gunned group will only give a point for the first death. The next one (or multiples, if they’re that determined to suicide) won’t give a thing to the person/server that stomped them. They will still be rally-bots for the enemy, but that’s a different topic…
As to your first point: I agree that the new stomp mechanic might just make fights more interesting. How many times in a zerg v zerg battle have you took time to stand there, pose, and then spike someone who has been downed? That’s just asking to get smacked from behind by the group that’s turned around for a second pass at you.
Stomps, in my experience, are more of a small group dynamic. The only time I see people getting spiked in a zerg environment is when their (smaller/weaker/off guard) group got steamrolled by folks who now have the leisure to kill them dramatically with a Whomp the Giant. Every other times it’s been roamers, thieves, or unfortunates who didn’t keep up with the karma train.
(edited by Carize.8532)
Got it, thanks. My problem was there there were a bunch of Vorpp clone/holograms that others had summoned in DR while I tried to complete and they just did a “Come find me in DR” chat without completing it. Turns out the REAL Vorpp is down the stairs from the Crown Pavilion waypoint in DR. (down stairs, turn right, you should see him near a machine/portal thingy)
Vorpp’s Field Assistant achievement un-finishable because I did the closing ceremony on an alt with friends and got the hologram summon item (which is SOULbound) and I did the invasions on another char who has most map completion. That second char got the 3 crystals (souldbound to a char who doesnt have hologram thingy v.v )but now I can’t summon Vorpp and finish his achievement.
Are you talking about the new character select screen tracker or the in-game one?
The char select one acted oddly for me only that first hour or so after I updated the client but a game restart fixed it.
The in-game tracker (as far as I know, anyway) tracks according to what you select. What I mean is: if you have EVERY achievement possible selected all at once, only a few will show and the list won’t change unless you manually do so. If you’re just interested in seeing how many more WvW repairs you need for daily, or keep track of an achieve that has a LOT to it (769/1000), just track only one or two of those type and let the game add/remove others as you advance them.
Hope that helps.
This is not a bug. All a yellow name means is that “it will not attack you unless you hit it first.”
Every AoE, multi-target skill can and will aggro neutrals that are in its range. That’s the nature of the skill. Part of what you have to choose when using a skill like Ele Staff #1 (fire or lightning), Mesmer GS #2, Mes staff #1, Ranger LB #5 or SB #2 etc. Does it matter more that you knock the snot out of that one target, or is it more important to tag multiples? The choice is yours. I can and have used LB #5 Barrage on a single target, but I’m also not shocked if a few moas walk through the arrow storm and then look at me with a gleam of kitten ed-off in their eyes. :-D
Of course….some skills also hit anything in the straight-line space between your weapon and your target (piercing skills, scepter skills, most beam/light/fire skills), which can cause unintended aggro too…
Playing video games is so tricky! /tongueincheek
One thing about the mail is that it only counts the “envelope shaped” mail icons (not hearts, or green personal story mail). Also, A-Net admitted that it sometimes doesn’t register mail sent by the company towards that achievement even if it’s got the envelope icon. So best way is to have random strangers/friends/guildies mail you until your mailbox goes full then delete one of the oldest.
A previous poster mentioned deleting all in your inbox before trying this, that’s because for whatever reason, some mails don’t register. Start fresh.
If you’re like me and can’t always remember your new alt’s name, just press H now and then and you character name is up top on that screen.
Personally, ranger is my favorite ranged dps class (I know, some feel the class has serious weaknesses). They’re able to lay a smackdown from far off, knockback mobs that get in your face, use pets for more dps/distractions and the pet’s skills to create combos/heals/CC’s, and even use melee weapons (greatsword!) for those times you want to beat ‘em up-knock ’em around.
Elementalist can play back line, mid-range- or melee equally well and each of those has strengths that you should goof around with to get used to. Attuning to each element changes your skills, your play style, and your damage output. Same with each weapon mix. But that’s a great class to use for learning game mechanics like combos, dodge-rolling, etc.
One tip for anyone trying to figure out a class is to make a throwaway version (ie: don’t bother much with name, looks, or anything during creation) and immediately take that char to Heart of the Mists PvP area. That let’s you see that class at 80, with all skills and traits unlocked, able to swap to any usable weapon set, and then try out your skills on players or training dummies to see if you can handle it.
You can also choose a key that "holsters’ your weapons, I set mine to Right CTRL to put my weps away when i need to stop auto-attacking. Also good for jump puzzles when you get in battle mode and need to jump, put your wep away with whatever key you set.
Look in the controls area of the settings (F11)
I’m having similar issue. I remember this used to happen to me during beta weekend DE’s. I see player names, mob names, and occasionally the red rings on the ground but the channeling of mob skills escapes me. Playing with my graphics setting on the LOD distance and WvW player limit settings didnt help much. Anyone else have an idea what to try?
I’m on a hi-pop server and have done DE’s and WvW since the beginning, so loads of players in one area wasn’t a problem for me. This is not the best/most epic PC in the world…but it used to handle GW2 just fine. Tips or tricks for fixing this would be appreciated.
