I’m posting Kalorian/Sarlacks because I know he wouldn’t mind, since he puts it everywhere.
Mishmash Hybrid of Cleric/PTV final “stats” end up 3K Armor 2K toughness 20K hits 1K Healing (3 passive regens) and 2K Power/3K attack, steady white damage…burst comes from pet and I have NO Crit/rate or Damage
Spec is 0-0-30-10-30 with focus on Protection/Barkskin/Regen/Vigor

Hes posted quite a few double bow vids, with and without healing, An old daoc friend who got me into GW2 and making a ranger.
I wounder how many will look at that image and realize how powerful that gear set-up really is!
Since GW2 launched many have wanted to find a P/P build, I guess because they like the idea/feel/look of it but all have failed to make it as effective as other builds. The ones tat have played it decided being all you can be is not important they just want to pew pew with two guns!
Work in progress:
WvW roamer/solo that is power based (Staff / Axe+Focus) Soldier+Cleric that looks to keep regeneration up-time high.
20/0/20/10/20
Consume / S. Walk / S. Wall / S. Grasp / Lich
Mango
Obviously utilities are not set in stone though I’d imagine S. Walk is permanent.
Staff+Focus+Dodge+5 points into Blood+Heal = Regeneration
Dwayna = Regeneration
745 healing power and looking to change more trinkets to get near 1000 healing.
Need advice?
You forgot to mention how often you used the Immobilize on your Bone Fiend. Rather how often you tried to use the Immobilize on your Bone Fiend, it went on Cooldown, and nothing happened.
My personal favorite part is me trying to use my Bone Fiends Explosion, and it not landing most of the time because they’re not actually near the target.
Thing is I want to use it as much as possible cause they almost instantly die anyway.
Did you get an answer? As a ranger with a mix of cleric+soldier playing 0/0/30/10/30 with 3 passive regen and lots of regen up-time I like the idea of heavy power builds that have huge HPS.
Could you write about how you gear and share more on spec ‘philosophy’?
Until Necro pet AI if fixed the class is pigeon holed into condimaster…I could be wrong, just my opinion.
How are you keeping regeneration up so much?
Great video, I think Anet really needs to sort this out ASAP! That other MMO would not have taken a year to fix something as bad as this.
I’ve played the ranger, engineer, and and elementalist. So far i’ve yet to really find a jack of trades that has what i’m looking for. Something that can range and still take a decent number of hits. Ranger came close, but the pet dying issue really hurts it.
So now i’m looking at warrior. I’ve seen a lot of them running around with rifles and I know one of the trees at max level focuses on bleeds. Bleeds if I understand it being one of the better dots to have on a target. Along with decent defense and heavy armor it seems that the rifle, though single target, would make a good solo/group character.
Am I wrong in this assessment?
Ranger is the highest survivability ‘ranged’ play style (mix cleric with soldier and use LB/SB with a 0/10/30/0/30 so x3 passive regens with food).
Warrior Rifle is a one trick pony, you need to land that burst and you need to gear heavy DPS and since all the other ‘solo’ players would be either massive burst or condition based you will get wasted by the first half decent player).
Any one has any input on this, would be nice to hear before I start the 3 month road of acquiring all that P/V/T gear!
Look, I enjoy my class. I cannot get into another class. You guys finding your most op build crap is what’s wrong with the game. Be like me and find a nice build that works for you and keep your mouth shut about it. Enjoy it. Cause,
What do you get? Internet points by sharing ? Fame? What!?. This class gets stripped left and right because of some Spvp builds that are intended to one shot people or overly be stronger than others. You know this is not the class for that. Just stop finding the niche builds and stop sharing them! Honestly, you are not supposed to kill people in one rotation, nor are you supposed to run around super mighty overall defensive and dpsing.
Btw. Never used 100nades or the HGH crap. F mainstream op builds. Make your own and stick to it. Love it and embrace it. Make it work for you. I love rolling on all you kitties copying build online and don’t even know the class to make them viable. I have 5 sets of gear for 5 different builds for whenever the hell I feel like playing. But please. Just stop sharing your omg op builds. Keep to yourself
You do realize that is not how it works right?
Are you referring to a build something like this for Ranger regeneration? I’d note that it gives something around 650 health per second (which is still very impressive, I won’t deny!) but requires 1800 of its stat points (in a PvE / WvW context) to achieve this feat. After that, there’s not much room left for offensive statting.
What I’m getting at is that while that build is going to be incredibly hard to bring down, I can’t imagine that they’d have the damage to burst anyone down themselves. Maybe if their opponent was the epitome of glass, in which case a tanky player with piles of healing is something of a poor target for the glass cannon no matter what.
Edit: If I was going to try and counter
that builda build based on constant high-value healing, I know that first and foremost would be poison. Probably a scepter, the lingering curses trait, and bonus condition duration to try and get 100% poison uptime with frequent reapplication.
check out what Sarlack wrote (its actually his build I was referring too).
I would say door number 3
-Staff – Sword+ x
Power crit toughness (1300-1500+) toughness. You soon find that staff as a compliment to power/crit builds make you so much more flexible on the field.

Hi Osi,
I got the Staff Condition idea kind of after watching this (thoughts):
Enjoy the video, feel free to comment and don’t forget to like & subscribe!
Great video! Which remix is the Misha B – Home Run song? Its not any of the ones I had ever heard and cant find it..its better than the original
Hi, my latest build Shatter Cat Mist is designed just for what you ask, a solo/smal group flexible build. Feel free to read the text guide aswell for the shatter cat guides.
/Osicat
Im waiting for the traits/gear/rune setup for the new mist build. When will you post it?
At work atm, so later tomorow after I slept. But the gear is al in the vid, so is runes and sigils. Traits are same as normal Shatter Cat Mist
/Osicat
What are your thoughts on how well -as compared to your build- would a heavy staff/condition/toughness build work?
Believe it or not, Boon Removal will not help you against a Ranger with a healing build.
We have some Regens sure, but most of it comes from abilities you cannot remove.
The way you counter regen builds in general is conditions and applying them constantly, or an obscene amount of burst.
Well said I just don’t think necro has either…Ranger can regen about 1000 HPS all the while the pet+bow is doing consistent good DPS with a mix of pet swap+QZ at right time with LB+SB and pet F2 and necro is toasted from range! Get close and say hello to a burst chain starting with blow back for almost half your HP!
Like you said regen comes from Signet+Trait+Mango+TU all of which can not be corrupted…Regeneration and protection are up lots so corrupt it once its up again in a few seconds. If that was not enough I use healing spirit for more HPS and cleansing.

Hi,
Coming from Ranger/Engineer and focusing on WvW small skrimish/roamer I’d like to give mesmer ago and wanted to ask what people thought about the following options:
Staff/Scepter+Focus
Condition mesmer with high toughness
Vs
GS/Sword+Pistol
Power/Crit mesmer so low toughness
After playing this setup for some hours I found myself doing the same, dodge is no longer used to counter ‘certain’ attacks, the regen is so good I have the luxury of using dodge for protection+movement! MOVEMENT I actually dodge to move lol
I think this build has made me kind of lazy as the mitigation is insane! I actually want to fall low on HP to proc barskin just for laugh some times :/
Nem put out a good healing guide for Clerics and Necro. It looked somewhat interesting from a team perspective, but compared to the ele or guardian version, it was pretty lack-luster. Also it was completely reliant on Lich form for DPS.
I don’t see any healing builds being viable until they allow either a little bit of healing or a little bit of life force generation to work while in DS. Do something about that and I will be the first one in line for a full set of clerics to try it out.
Difference between necro and other possible healers (except rangers) is that while the others can do bigger heals or a stronger burst, you can give one strong timed regenerative boost that is combined with the cc conditions necro naturally has, all on a 32 second cooldown and on that front only getting outshined if the ele has a energy sigil and the endurance regen food with perma vigor (what they can without real problems, but dont seem to for some reason) and when the guardian has his tome out.
The main difference again are that booning your allies is much more obvious than crippling your enemy damage output, in league its like comparing taric, soraka and sona to thresh, morgana and lulu; sure different and better teams will know what each of the characters worth its, but when someone who just wants to win by giving little thought into how each character works for fights, zone control, item/gold/item slot efficiency and actual love for the character/role they play (reason why you see something like 4 adc and 1 tank compositions in low tier games and angry junglers or support in higher tier games making them feel like a chore by not doing the specifics of the role even with communication and if asked politely, “since if they cannot get their role, thus their fun, noone should”).God i really hope that people that read this know league or ill be the fool talking jibber-jabber…
:) I have no idea what you just said
Let me ask another question, is there such a thing as a regen heavy necro build? Say cleric+soldier or shaman+soldier ? Dodge for blood and use dwyna?
Hi,
Is there a warrior build that focuses on regeneration with say a mix of Cleric and Soldier and uses Rifle ?
A good ranger will destroy a confusion mesmer all day.
That’s not true. It’ll be a very long fight and either player can easily reset the fight/run away… but a good ranger won’t destroy a confusion mesmer. In fact, the mesmer will usually win if it goes uninterrupted for long enough.
I got a good laugh out of this. I met a ranger in WvW the other day and it was definitely a long battle (I’m the confusion mesmer in question). We went back and forth never breaking combat on land. Ended up in the water at the SE camp on borderlands. I was able to down him in the water, but couldn’t finish him off before his pet got him back up, which he did twice. Finally an ally showed up, but we still struggled. Quaggan guards showed up too, and between the whole lot of us, we killed him.
I know virtually nothing about Rangers’ abilities, but you better believe I’ve started reading up on those.
You’re the only build in the game that will give a regen ranger trouble and can win, no other build has a chance against that kind of mitigation.
Well conditions just role off ele and the burst is insanely high….
I guess condi necro has no place roaming alone seeing how the meta today is shifting towards heavy regeneration tanky builds.
In WvW I’m not an expert, but from my recent experience in it I’d have to say “Hell no.”
In tPvP, it’s a VERY difficult fight, often one you will lose. I had a build posted here a while back that would make short work of Rangers/Guardians/Thieves/Mesmers/Engineers that would pull that, but that was for PvP. In WvW, I’m afraid I don’t see any way to beat that kind of thing, or Thieves, for that matter.
Thanks for the input as a regen ranger thats my gaming experience in WvW as well, necro gets steamrolled every time they really have no place roaming in WvW against regen builds.
Thanks for sharing! Any opinion about WvW?
Also, seeing how the meta is slowly shifting towards heavy regeneration builds (toughness/healing/power+precision) any thoughts?
Hi,
I started a conversation on the WvW asking how to counter a heavy regeneration build (so cleric gear with 1.9 – 2k toughness and high power or a mix of power and precision while sporting 18k – 20k HP)
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/How-To-Counter-Regen-Builds/first#post1873882
Notice the Regen Ranger reply and video, I actually play Ranger at 80 healing+power focus and stated to level a necro now and asked:
Can a condition necro counter a regen ranger? I think its impossible but my necro is low level…
Any input?
I’ll Leave this here, a long skirmish with a Mesmer and a couple of Thieves I had tonight. Grouped with them after and chatted a bit. Decent peeps =)
Sarlack hi!
I actually had you in mind when making this post I know a really skilled mesmer will give any class/build a hard time, but how do I as, say a necro, counter your kind of build?
As I also play Ranger I don’t think a condition necro has a chance in a million years but I’m a casual player so looking for advice.
Edit: regarding necro here is a quote that sums it up perfectly:
“TheMightyAltroll.3485

In any case, this kind of Ranger will annihilate any DPS and any bunker 1v1 and will face trouble only against 1v2 and higher…
For the most part, 1v2 isn’t an issue either unless there is a mesmer involved. Mesmers require 100% of my concentration, so I will end up running most of the time from a 1v2 if the mesmer has a shred of skill.
Otherwise, it’s not an issue really. I usually target warriors or engineers first. Thieves have become such a non-issue for the most part now that I don’t even bother trying to hurt them if they are a stealth build.. at least until their buddy is down. They are predictable and well-timed evades will mess up anything they try.
I can’t 1v3 very much unless the players are just downright bad. This build still isn’t as good as a d/d elementalist in 1vX.
I think you are 100% correct and also think that once people realize that ranger is at its best focusing on healing and toughness and for the third stat a mix of power/precision Anet may nurf Ranger a bit.
The thing is out side of 30% extra pet crit damage the top 2 trait lines are of far less value then the bottom 3.
I cant open the traits or copy and paste either!
I agree with you 100% and predict once people discover that the current itemization (even if you mix in a bit more P/V/T) is the best hands down will get nurfed.
Some one who invests in MM is giving up massive amounts of survivability and should be compensated for it, MM needs to boost burst or DPS or both much..MUCH more via the player, pet or weapons or whatever way.
Some professions can do well with a high focus on DPS itemization and traits in WvW solo…
All professions can excel in GW2 with a high focus on regeneration/healing/toughness itemization and traits in WvW solo…
You want to do well 1v1 then gear and trait for it so stack +healing and +toughness and the third stat can be power or precision or a mix, up to you. Stay away from the first 2 trait line -the 30% pet crit trait is good though.
A condition necro has a leg up from the beginning when fighting these types of builds.
High poison uptime, which cuts healing by 1/3, and conditions in general which ignore the 40% armor mitigation.
You will also love fighting anyone that tries to use conditions on you, as you have a heal which is more effective the more conditions it clears on you, and two low-ish cooldown condition transfers.
Thanks! Good to know.
Hi,
WvW how do you counter heavy regeneration builds -talking about 1000 HPS with about 40% mitigation?
For example Ranger can come heavy regeneration either condition melee or power bow and I guess other professions can also focus on +healing and regeneration with either high power or high condition and don’t forget about the bird/cat!
I ask because as I want to start a new class -necro- and play condition (S/D) I find myself a little disheartened knowing how my ranger would shred this build?
Why don’t we have Power/Vitality/Toughness recipe? As it stands Soldier gear is purchased (Karma and WvW Commendations) and the Karma items are between 2 and 3 pieces and not more.
I was just introduced to the healing/regen ranger, its not melee though…The thing is it seems to me -and correct me if I’m wrong- its an OP archetype -if it could be called an archetype.
When we can have about 2k power and 1k healing which yields about 1,000 HPS and between 40% and 70% mitigation and from there play between Healing Power and Precision its a power house from small groups and 1vX.
You went with the classic Sword which is our highest DPS weapon and the rest comes from a bit of Conditions and pets…Others have focused on pets and bows and so on but the ALL have between 9xx – 1xxx healing!
I wounder how many other professions can build that way?
In any case, this kind of Ranger will annihilate any DPS and any bunker 1v1 and will face trouble only against 1v2 and higher…
It costs over 100g and hours of karma and wvw farm to get that kind of gear, but once done its OP time…
Vigor is great if you’re concerned with your survivability.
I prefer running Fast-Acting Elixirs if I’m focusing on damage. Quicker stacking of HGH, and more Fury from Elixir B.
Try out both and see which suits your playstyle more.
Cool sounds better your way
Any others wanna chime in?
Tool Kit is great in WvW, but I wouldn’t really use it in PvE.
You also take Invigorating Speed but don’t have Infused Precision or Speedy Kits. Where are you getting your Swiftness? Elixir B/Hidden Flask?
From elixirs yes -not just B- in any case looking for input, Vigor is of value but how much value?
I played a bit with this build in sPvP and it has strong sustained DPS and strong mitigation, feels really good in small group play with good support and decent burst if you can line it up properly.
In PvE indeed I use another utility -other than Tool Belt.

Looking for your opinion for the below build, WvW and PvE.

“This should not be a discussion topic.” errr this is a forum, you don’t want a discussion?
This happened to me an hour ago, I immediately thought of this post and the Ranger community and put this together =P
0/20(I/X)/30(III/IX/XII or XI)/10(VI)/10(VI) Spec. All 12 Slots (except weapon) P/T/V including jewelry, Runes of the Ranger in Armor and Exquisite Ruby Jewels in all trinket slots. Zerker Weapons with Sigil of Flame.
For the 30 WS traits if I run Signet of the Wild I have the 30 Empathic Bond spec’d, If I run Signet of Renewal I run Barkskin.
Raven/Owl Pets.
I’ve also had success with:

????
Which build and gear?
This happened to me an hour ago, I immediately thought of this post and the Ranger community and put this together =P
Come on, you can’t just leave this video here and not explain! Are those 2 really that bad or do you have 1000 health regen per second?

The post has one of the best Bow builds I have seen.

Hi,
You have the kind of build(s) I would love to see in action!
I plugged it into a builder:
You have some SERIOUS mitigation the kind I see on front line players, you sure its not a bit over the top?
Effective Power 3032.25
Effective Health (EHP) 32627
Damage Reduction 37.53%
Critical Chance 44.64%
Critical Damage 56%
Can it stealth?
Then no.
I saw a Ele stealth once, then I took a Lightning Bolt to the knee!
Fun clips thanks….I see it now, many shall follow S/D!
Is Ele the best class in GW2 for WvW when it comes to multi roles?
Ele seem like the best WvW class as they fill many roles and fill them really well!
How much Toughness should I aim for?
full zerker: 1255 Toughness
mix zerker+soldier: 1400 Toughness
Effective Power 4102.32
Effective Health (EHP) 26745
Damage Reduction 25.55%
