I think that allowing for new players to join into fractal is the wrong idea
Posted by: Charming Rogue.8071
They should add that if a player is ‘offline’ for more than 5-10 minutes, they automatically get kicked from the party and empty slots are able to get filled by new players. While adding the idea posted above (only original members are allowed to rejoin).
No. I don’t want to be ‘forced’ into doing an area of the game I don’t like (e.g. sPvP/WvW) in order to equip my characters with the highest possible gear available. It’s good that they made them available for laurel tokens, so that people that dislike fractal can still get ascended rings.
Well, I used about 1 mil karma, and got back 5g (which is 5g created artificially), and another 10g worth of lodestones (which I sell to other players on TP, obviously, not considered added gold to the game).
So you shouldn’t be concerned, I mean, what’s 5g? Like an hour of farming
300g since playing trying to get Dusk, the last item I need for legendary.
I bought 200 (1 mil karma) and got 8 lodestones, none were Charged. The price drop you see now is probably people freaking out because there are new ways of obtaining lodestones and they were hoarding them. You’ll see prices back up where they were within a week, guaranteed. Think about it. 1 mil karma = ~8 lodestones. How long does it take to get 1 mil karma? Exactly.
I love this new update. Dieing actually means something now, instead of; “oh.. guess I have to run back now.”
Just did some dungeons, and CoE is actually a lot easier now, fighting Alpha is like having constant Time Warp up, he dies that fast! CoE is pretty farmable now when you compare completion times.
Mindless zerg in CoF p2? Learn to do damage and survive. Call targets, focus fire on the flame guys.
Actually, that’s what the devs are telling : don’t run a dung if you’re not already geared (but then i’m trying to figure what’s the point of running a dung if we’re already geared….).
Exactly my point. The devs and the elitests here have totally missed the whole point.
People run dungeons for TOKENS FOR THEIR GEAR, not have gear first then run dungeons.
If you balance dungeons against full teams of full exotics/ascended geared players with VOIP then you’ve just ailenated 90%+ of your player base.
Before I had exotics, I ran all these dungeons with Rares and green trinkets, no problem (I actually still have green trinkets). And yes, even Arah. It’s a combination of knowing/learning enemies attack patterns so you can dodge properly (and not waste it on useless things and be out of energy all the time), having a good trait setup, and the right utility’s at the right time. Obviously these things come with experience.
People need to fail these dungeons horribly, learn what they’re doing wrong and why they’re dying, adapt and succeed.

No, lupi will not make or break any more groups then before because the run back was already so long most groups wont notice the difference.
uhm. Wrong. Many times I’ve seen people die in subsequent order and running back, keeping lupi from resetting and eventually killing him.
They are selling.
Don’t worry, Patch Adam Smith’s ‘invisible hand’ will fix everything. The market will sort itself out.
Trust me, I’m an economist.
its 5 laurels, and you get 2 gears. And that might be possible, anet hinted at a new way to gain precursors with the new update. But only time will tell.
LOL, wtf. My thoughts exactly, then I realized you only need to do 10
10!
TEN!!!!
You won’t even lose money on this, and it’s like the most easiest daily ever. Just refine some copper ore or whatever and then sell the copper ingots.
I spent about 500k karma (1 mil, if you count reusing the karma I got back with booster/banner/etc).
I got: 4g worth from the useless junk
8g worth in lodestones
1 mini balthazar (after all karma was spent, I stopped after getting this, it’s all I wanted really :P)
40 obsidian shards
sweet, almost a whole level. Thanks
I’ll admit gw2lfg is an amazing site. But you never know what people you may end up with. That’s why I created ‘Same Night Seduction (SNS)’.
We’re a European dungeon only guild, located on Desolation (but any european world may join, of course). We run any dungeon: Fractals, CoF, CoE, Arah, etc. We’re dedicated to doing speedruns for gold/tokens, and basically having fun while doing it
Most hybrid guilds that focus on the many aspects of the game don’t work. Guild members will be spread out across varies activities like WvW, sPvP, etc, and it will be hard to get people together to do anything. That’s why we’re solely dedicated to dungeons.
This guild mainly consists of experienced dungeon players, and are looking for more like-minded players. New inexperienced players are welcome too, of course. We’ll show you the ropes, and teach you how to become more effective with your time to maximize your playtime. One requirement however is that you’re able to listen to directions when we’re telling you certain strats and tactics.
If you share our passion for dungeons and want to join, just leave a comment here, or whisper me in-game.

Colin Johanson stated in an interview that there will be new ways to obtain precursor, and he was hinting towards specific area’s that would have a higher droprate on them.
This probably won’t fix anything though, in my opinion. Unless the droprate is considerably higher.
Just look at supply. Usually you can count the precursors on 1 hand. Whereas holiday skins were mass produced and, quite frankly, aren’t even that cool. Most people hate the looks = less demand.
In the dynamic combat system gw2 has now, crouch would be useless. In first person shooters it has a function, in that it makes you ‘smaller’ to avoid getting hit. Seeing as in gw2 its either: hit, evade or obstructed, it wouldn’t add anything to the gameplay. It would be like just another useless emote.
Please no. I can see the posts now on gw2lfg, newcomers wouldn’t stand a chance.
“GLFM CoF path 1, must have at least 500+ thumbs up”
I’m honestly okay with dyes being account bound.
In Mabinogi, you can’t reuse dyes at all. You use it once on ONE PART of a piece of gear, then it’s gone. Being a veteran of that game, I think ANet’s dye system is extremely generous.
And I respect the fact that dyes are part of their income. Making them account-bound would destroy the value there.
This was the same as in gw1, where you would have to buy 5 copies of the dye color you wanted to apply them on the 5 different pieces of armor you had equipped. Not to mention if you bought new armor pieces, you would have to rebuy the dyes.
To be honest, it would be cool if dyes were accountbound. But in comparison with the gw1 system this new dye system is very generous in that you only have to buy it once and can just re-apply it whenever you want.
Why are you worrying about this?
Any new recipe they add that people can use to make a profit will just led to a permanent ban of those people. So you do not want to be the first on to do it.
So do not worry.
lol. It’s funny cause it’s true.
All items have increased in price, t6 mats, ecto’s (and of course rares). Probably due to botbanning, I can’t think of any other event that could trigger such a price change in the market.
Theres actually logic behind doing it that way. Say I have 10 precursors. I list 2 on the market( that I got for 80g). for 110g and 120g. You sell yours for 100g. I buy you out and relist it at 105g. When all 3 sell out, I still make a net profit. AND I get the added benefit of selling my items faster and also creating an artificial demand for what I am selling.
How is selling 105, 110, 120 precursors is faster than selling 100, 110, 120 precursors?
How it’s an artificial demand, when in both cases 3 precursors are being sold?At least put some work in your conspiracy theories and made up stories, because they make no sense whatsoever.
You’re missing the point. By buying off the lower listed precursor and relisting it at a higher price (even if you don’t make a profit) prevents other people from listing below the lower listed precursor. Thus, like he said, preventing inflation.
Buy Orichalcum Gathering tools, and use them on all nodes. Problem Solved.
Seriously, you get a 100 uses and it only costs 4s. This means that every time you gather an item and it’s worth more than 4 copper you would have made a profit.
I got one earlier too on my warrior. I was so excited cause I really needed this rune on my ele, and it costs a lot of tokens to get. But then I realized it was soulbound, so I merched it.
Dusk just shot up 100g, lol wut? Wouldn’t surprise me if people are controlling the precursor market. It’s easy (if you have a lot of gold) cause there are only a few limited ones, and hardly any new ones come in daily. Unlike globs of ecto with 5 billion supply.
It’s not that the dungeon is hard, skipping just gets you to the end reward faster and I need my kitten 60 tokens! I don’t care about your 10s loot drop from the boss that takes 5 minutes to kill.
There’s a way to still get it. I’m not sure if this is an exploit, but it’s more of a work around for people stuck in your position (and I also believe that if it’s a bug, it should NEVER be fixed).
Make a new character thief with that anonymous hood. Then buy a cheap white or blue (NOT GREEN) headpiece and then transmute the looks of the anonymous hood with the stats of the item you bought. It should now say: Account Bound, instead of soulbound. Then put it in storage and give it to your current Thief.
Also, I think this is the wrong section for this post.
Do CoF. Free Exotics.
thx for linking, didn’t see it. Guess this thread can be deleted/closed.
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but all your math is wrong. Dev said that the amount of tokens aren’t set in stone and can change before they release the actual update.
I… wai- what?
Bad idea.
In a classic MMO, “levelling” is the process of grinding levels, which ends at the level cap and is then replaced by the gear grind. Those are two very different things – the level grind is solo-based so all classes have to do a bit of everything, while the gear grind is group based and focused on overespecialization focusing on the holy trinity roles.
In GW2, that kind of levelling doesn’t exist. The kind of content you will be doing at the end of the game is pretty much the same kind of content you will be doing in the middle of the game. Just like you can do dynamic events, hearts, explore, craft, do dungeons, and do WvW at level 40 – you will be doing exactly those same things at level 80.
Which means – if you are not enjoying playing the game at level 40, it won’t be reaching level 80 that will make you enjoy the game. If you think the road to the level cap is “tedious”, you will find the level cap tedious as well.
Actually, the most fun for me when I level alts is getting all their gear in order (full exotics through mostly dungeon tokens). Something I can’t do at lower levels. I agree, lower levels are a pain and I usually end up crafting my way to level 80 and then do my daily dungeon grind.
p.s. 6 level 80 alts, 7th on the way.
450g Dusks and 478g Legends are not something you grind in a few days; stop lying.
At 50g per day, you could grind that in 9 days. I wouldn’t want to dedicate that much of my time to that, you’re right. But it is well within the realm of possibility.
and how exactly do you propose to make 50g in one day?
i’m pretty sure if this was achievable by a fair amount of the gw2 population, no one would care about this topic anymore
1. Join a large guild that does dungeon/fractals
2. Do CoF1 speed runs for several hours
3. Do a fractal daily when you get bored
4. Do some more hours of CoF1
5. Repeat ad nauseum. Emphasis on the nauseaI don’t think a “fair amount” of the population wants to speed run the same path of a dungeon for 8 hours a day, but if you want to make a lot of gold through game play, that’s how to do it.
You still wouldn’t get 50g in 1 day with that method. That’s what I did in my vacation and I got around 20g a day (not counting lucky exotic drops, which I almost never got).
Maybe you didn’t play enough hours per day? Or maybe you had too much downtime between runs/groups. Hence the first part of my advice, join a large dungeon guild. Not waiting for groups, not dealing with pugs, not dealing with idiots makes everything significantly more efficient.
Nope, it’s a simple little thing called DR. The end result was almost no silver, the only silver I got was from bosses (so like: ~40s per run with omnom berry), 1 run = 7-10 minutes. ~2,5g per hour.
DR also affects chests and drops, so you get almost no rares.
Also sometimes the dungeon gets contested and you have to wait 6 minutes.
I have no idea how you’re getting 50g. tbh I think you’re counting in lucky drops or are just lying.
I threw in about 150g worth of level 80 rare Greatswords. I got some exotics back, but I sold these, bought more rares and threw them in.
I had the same plan as you, having a ‘fallback funds’, selling whatever exotic I got. But in the end, I ended up with 3 gifts and 0g in the bank, and still no Dusk.I think the description “Mystic Toilet” is a pretty accurate one.
well of course it didn’t work because you spent all your money. You got greedy. Can’t get greedy. lol
I’m not going below 100g. Literally. And I’m stickin to that.Plus remember, Im only using exotics. Not rares. Which is why my returns allow me to keep trying.
When all you need is said precursor, people do stupid things. I got another 100g stashed away, might gamble it all again.
And it won’t work with greatswords to do exotics. All level 80 exotics cost ~2.5g each, and the ones you get returned are worth ~2.5g. You’ll lose money faster. Might as well do it with rares, you get way more attempts. Everyone I talked to got Dusk with rares, because they could simply afford more attempts.
Quick Note:
GW2 Spidy is not hacking, they are not doing anything illegal, it’s a fantastic site. So, why aren’t you guys from arenanet building your own version ike you did with the wiki?
Do you think it’s a good idea to have such a crowdattractor in third party hands where it’s just a matter of time until the site-owner decides there’s enough unique IP adresses visitting and decides to upload a trojan to empty a few thousand accounts.
lol.
Just lol.

Your biggest problem is gold. I’d advice to try and make money off the TP. It’s not easy, and I can’t tell you what is profitable because it changes every minute of the day. But just keep your eyes on prices of certain materials and see how they change. Then invest in what you think is good.
I wouldn’t worry about the precursor yet, as by the time you have all the other items they’ll have introduced the scavenger hunt (hopefully. Probably in about 1-2 months, but it could be more, we don’t know yet).
Other than that, Dungeons are at the moment one of the most profitable things to do. I’d advise a daily CoF run or two, as it’s the fastest and easiest to pug. Fractals is very profitable too.
Just do the daily every day, by the time you’re not even close to having the amount of gold you need you’ll have enough jugs for the ~1 million karma needed. (Don’t forget to use 50% karma boosters, and 15% guild boost + 5% karma banner when using your karma jugs). The daily will also provide you with the Mystic Coins you need for the Mystic Clovers.
For WvW badges ask if there’s a Mesmer in the Eternal Battlegrounds Jumping Puzzle, because that will provide you with 15 badges per day. Try and check there often. It also helps a lot if you have other characters, because they too can open the chest once a day.
For the Orichalcum mine the Rich orichalcum vein in Southsun Cove every day (it respawns 24 hours after you mined it), again, having alts helps a lot because they too can mine the orichalcum daily.
For the crafting disciplines, look up guides to use the least amount of gold to max them to 400.
Skillpoints you’ll get from doing dungeons.
Before anything, do Mystic Clovers first as they’ll provide you with other t6 materials that you need (and if you’re really lucky even some Lodestones)
Charged lodestones… it’s just a huge grind, I’m sorry. Get these last, as they’re pretty much at their peak in price. Wouldn’t surprise me if anet upped the droprate for these as so many people are complaining about it and anet listens to whiners. (Or you can do daily CoE runs to get charged cores/lodestones)
Also, if you’re gonna buy them, buy Charged Cores instead and convert them to Lodestones, it’ll save A LOT of money (but costs skillpoints, definitely worth it though, like I said, gold is your biggest pitfall in crafting a legendary).
That pretty much covers it all I think. Gold is your biggest problem obviously, and there really aren’t many shortcuts unless you play the TP and make a killing somehow, but it’s very hard as there’s a lot of competition.
edit: Forgot to add, buy Icy Runestones at the very very last. Cause these will never change price. Other materials will.
edit2: Also, use the 1 time clover recipe. You can afford to not get a clover at a 1 ecto/1 obs shard loss, but you can’t afford getting nothing at a 10 ecto/10 obs shard loss. Yes, the return rate is the same 1 in 3. But it will only be 1 in 3 if you use large numbers. 8 tries (to get 77 clovers) isn’t enough to balance this RNG. You could do 15 tries and get only 10 clovers. Not worth it at all. Be safe, do the 1 time recipe.

I think you have a better chance at buying Rare dyes and throwing them in the forge, as that way you’ll always get a rare back and Abyss has just as much chance to come back as any other rare dye, it’s not like Dusk, whereas it’s a rare item. It’s just a colored dye made valuable by the market because everyone wants black.
Abyss Dye is still a controlled item. Its price isn’t where it’s at because of demand.
Yes it is. With your rationale, all other rare dyes should be 22G. But other dyes don’t have nearly as much demand as Abyss and the price reflects that.
Now you’re agreeing with what I said. All Rare dyes are created equal and have the same drop rate. Only Abyss is valued way more due to demand, e.g. the market, because everyone wants black.
It’s a stupid bug, I usually fix it by having 1 person go in the explorable one and then inviting the other players when he’s already inside.
If you can kill the flamethrower guys before the next flamethrower guy spawns, it’s not that hard. If you can’t kill him in time you’ll get out-swarmed by the enemies and die. Can be done with any party setup, but I usually just do zerg-death-stacking-repair-bill-method when I PUG this dungeon, as most people don’t know how to do damage.
I like the trading post. Every time I played Guild Wars 1 I was angry there wasn’t one.
This. I hated standing in Kamadan writing “WTS ……… X Y Z” thousands of times until I finally got a buyer. I must admit there’s more competition on the trading post. But I’m one of those players who rather get less profit and have more time to play the game, than wasting time trying to sell some items.
I have 6 level 80’s, Armor and weapons exotic (all from dungeon tokens), trinkets are all green with Orbs on them.
Whenever I have a new character hit level 80 I always buy Rare Armor/Weapons, then slowly upgrade them piece by piece with dungeon tokens. The trinkets I don’t care for, I’ll slowly upgrade those from doing Fractals when they fix the DC problem, but I refuse to spend a good amount of gold for little noticeable effect.
I liked DoA. It was inhumanely hard at first, then I stopped doing it, and when I came back a few months later it was all figured out and the runs were smooth. Just get all enemies balled up and destroy them. Was fun.

DR was always on different dungeons. You hit DR because you’re running your dungeons too fast. DR hits when you do 5 paths within 2 hours, 4 paths will give 60 tokens, 5th one will give you less, for me its usually 30, so you’re lucky getting 45. Just wait a bit between runs (15-30 mins after you finished AC).
is it normal that Lupicus eats mesmer clones too for his buff skill? Or is that a bug?
Ecto drop rate hasn’t changed, you’re just unlucky. RNG is RNG.
It’s always something you should consider, either sell the rare, or wager the salvage.
