Tengu would be sweet.
Except for fractal, cause it’s broken as kitten.
LOL, use only 1 element, hahaha. Don’t have anything to add, just though that was funny to read.
There are ways to exchange skillpoints into gold, best I found was to get around 50s for a skillpoint. Just look at recipes, at the materials it requires to make, and then look at the selling price. Converting cores into lodestones is usually profitable at around 15s per skillpoint. Ofcourse these prices fluctuate depending on TP prices.
pretty cool, expect this to get nerfed soon. Ori are meant to be mined by lvl 60+, and can thus be seen as an exploit. Obviously not a game economy breaking one, but still… not intended.
pfttt I did CoF today and got 2 exotics out of the chest with 0 MF, prove that MF doesn’t affect chests!
Right? Wrong. I have no baseline to compare it with, it’s more random luck than anything. Furthermore in total I’ve opened 20-30 chests? This is not a large enough number to base any conclusions on.
My advice to you, stop finding meaning and patterns into things that aren’t there. Next time, try to do a 360 kickflip in real life, then loot the chest. See what happens. If you get a good drop, do it again next time! If you get another good drop, chances are you’re going to do a 360 kickflip every time before opening a chest, and then only remember the times you did get good drops, and forget the times it didn’t work. Probably use some excuses like “Well, I only spun around 350, I didn’t do it properly, that’s why I got bad drops this time, next time I’ll do it right.”
Just did Arah and got 60 tokens, seems like the DR resets at a 2 hour max.
EDIT: Just did another 4 dungeon runs (for 60 tokens), on the 5th run I got 8 tokens. I guess it’s on a 2 hour cycle. I’ll wait another 2 hours before I go do more dungeons.
(edited by Charming Rogue.8071)
how does the DR affects FOTM then?
Let me ask you this, do you get a big shiny popup at the end of the dungeon that says: “Dungeon Reward”, that gives tokens/karma and gold?
Hint: Answer is no. So no DR on Fractals.
(edited by Charming Rogue.8071)
OneManArmy has it right. From what I understand you can run 4 path’s within 2 hours, then you get 30 tokens on the 5th run (It’s what I just did).
I’m just curious how long I have to wait to get full reward again for a different dungeon, because running other dungeons also gives me 30 tokens. I know it has a timer, but I’m unsure how long, 1 hour or 2 hours? Anyone know?
I just got 30 tokens, I did 4 dungeon runs, and on the 5th I received 30 tokens. How long do I have to wait for it to reset? I don’t want to do Arah and get 30 tokens or less.
Is it 1 hour? 2 hours?
Two changes:
Make ports to all towns free from anywhere, rather than people having to goof around loading into the mists/WvWvW to take a portal.
When porting within a zone, use the level scaling of the zone itself rather than the player to determine the costs. So it’ll still be expensive to port to queensdale from far away, but once there, porting from one place in QD to another would be very cheap.
This.
You know you play too much Guild Wars 2 when you set your alarm at the time the daily resets so you can do your dungeon runs and daily.
For example: Illusionary Membrane = Gain protection for 2 seconds when you gain regeneration.
There is your creative playstyle. You just chose to play that style. Traits and utilities allow you to choose this, which is what you did with your example. If you were to say, go for full damage instead of protection/regen, then trait for full power/shatter, etc.
The only thing I agree with you in your post is that traits cost money to change, they should remove this so it’s easier to experiment with new builds. And no sPvP is not an option, I want to test this new build out on various enemies and dungeon bosses to see if it’s viable, then go to town and alter it for free.
The glitch at the end is caused by the NPC taking damage in the last fight, have a player wait outside with the NPC to avoid it for now until it gets fixed. I know it sucks, happened to me once too.
You can also use teleport skills to get passed the bugged gate by using Lightning Flash or Blink. This is not an exploit, as the gate is supposed to be open when it’s not.
This is normal and has been stated by developers on release that gems to gold is a much lesser payout, probably around 70%.
Kinda curious about this too, seeing as lots of people transmuted their legendaries already.
thx for the screen. I always thought people were just trolling about that. Guess I’ll go do the dragon events more now. I always get blues and every 5th time or so a rare. But a chance at a precursor every dragon event? That seems more worth my time.
to be honest, at this point arenanet should start merging worlds. Making the population bigger. I don’t mind having more overflows. I like having other people running around though. Usually when I play on a map I’m sooo happy if I see another player. Sometimes it just feels like the entire map has 5 players roaming it. It shouldn’t be like this.
Merge worlds, make it happen!
It feels like gw1 had waaaaay more players than this game, and gw1 didn’t even have shared instances. How messed up is that?
1. Equip t3 cultural.
2. Change race.
3. ???
4. WIN!
I always ask them if it’s their first time, and then just tell them what to do. Most people follow, some people follow to the pun (I love these guys) and we got a good group going after a while. And some people……. are just kitten If it’s only 1 I won’t kick him, I’ll just carry him through the dungeon. If it’s a group of seriously bad players and its evident from the start I’ll leave. cba to do a 1 hour CoF run when it can be done in 10 minutes when I just leave the group and find a new one. Usually the kittenedness comes out later in the run though, at that time I’m already halfway in and I’ll just suck it up, promising myself never to pug again. But I never listen to myself.
I don’t know the sigil question, but regarding the tokens and rares: If it’s a level 68 or above rare, you can get ecto from it. Also I wouldn’t call this an exploit, 1 dungeon run gives you 60 tokens = 2 rares. I’d rather call it a bonus than an exploit, seeing as it’s not a gamebreaking—making-mad-money-kinda trick.
I still see people advertising for level 1-10, so yes.
Indeed, the making of this scavenger hunt was a big one and not the only thing they’re working on. They also want to make it perfect, hence it won’t be in the next big update.
Would like this aswell, I’d love to get those missing spaces filled up in my bank.
If you buy 1000 gems at the current conversion rate, you end up with roughly 10ish+ gold. That gold then goes into circulation and in turn raises the conversion rate from gold to gems even HIGHER since there is more gold present.
lol, that is the stupidist thing I’ve ever heard. In what universe does 10g go in circulation and end up back at buying gems?
Yes, converting gold to gems raises the price, but it has nothing to do with people that actually buy gems with real money. And more to do with people farming gold in various other ways and then buying gems.
I do hate having to carry X amount of philosophers stones/crystals on my characters, instead of stacking them in the bank. Would like to see these as accountbound in the future.
Oh wow, really? Is that why it doesn’t work? Hmm…
Wow. It works! I’m such an idiot. Thx!
Wait, what? You argument is like buying a game for full price, then seeing it on discount for half price a month later and going to the clerk asking if he can give you half your money back.
You bought it for full price, now they’re giving a discount to new players because they want to attract more people = more $$$.
I’m sorry, but this isn’t a bug.
You get shown EXACTLY what you’re doing, you take the appearance of one, and the stats of another – including class, damage etc. and you have to confirm it all in the transmutation screen.
Unfortunately it’s not Arenanet’s fault and tbh, they shouldn’t do anything about it as it’s obvious what’s going to happen if you put the skin of a legendary onto an exotic. Much like putting the skin from the cultural armour (rare) onto an exotic armour and you get an exotic with the rare skin. You took the skin of a higher tier and put it onto a lower tier. Unfortunately it’s your fault.
It would be stupid if this wasn’t a bug, then all legendaries have prefixed stats and wouldn’t allow for any customization. Arenanet stated that it’s definitely a bug and they’re looking into it.
i got 60 clovers for 10 tries of 10 recipe…
try it at night
I got 70 clovers over 10 try with x10 recipe. imho it gives better chances… After instead, i went for the 7 more i needed with x1 recipe and took me 15 attempts -.-
Day or night doesn’t make a difference i think.
You guys are extremely lucky, the 10 clover recipe doesn’t have a better chance. And indeed day or night doesn’t matter.
I think I used about 230 shards to get mine. The first 30 shards gave me 3 clovers though, I was cursing and shouting, then I kept going and got 5 clovers in a row for a couple of times. Just keep going, you’ll get them eventually. I’d definitely agree that it’s 1/3 chance when I’m looking at my statistics.
Also, don’t use the 10 clover recipe. The chance of getting 1/3 averages out when you use a large sample. However if you use, let’s say 100 shards, you only have 10 tries. Getting none, or 10 clovers isn’t totally out of the question. You can afford to NOT get a clover when you use a one time recipe, but can you really afford to not get clovers when you use 10 at the same time?
They’re gonna add Perma Merchants?
Probably not. Sorry.
Actually, with the black friday sales, and the new release of makeover kits, the gem prices haven’t had a chance to stabilize properly yet. It actually requires players to buy gems with real money to go down in price again. And since the majority of players is converting gold to gems to buy the new goodies, the gem prices skyrocketed.
I expect a decrease in price after the makeover kit hype is over, unless wintersday gem items will mess it up again. And even if it goes down in price, it won’t go down to the earlier price, because it requires a lot of real money to gem conversions. More than people are willing to buy.
@Karizee
Thanks for that graph. All it did was prove me right. I said the prices will fluxate…which means they will go up and down, but ultimately, the prices are TRENDING upwards. And between oct 28th to Nov 11th..it plateaued (evened out) but that flat rate was still far above the average than it was when the game first released. And since Nov 11th..the prices have exploded, and are trending upwards quickly…
When I mean have prices come down, what I mean is…is does it come down below a mean…a statistical average. Then no, it has not. It fluxuates, but the mean does not decrease it either evens out or goes up. When I began the game, the ‘average’ was 24s for 100 gems. Back in August…
In Oct/Nov, the mean was 74s…
Thats huge.
The only reason for this is: more people are converting gold to gems, than people actually buying gems. To be honest, as people are collecting more gold, I’m willing to bet that gem prices will never be as they once were. 20s for 100 gems. If only I knew back then what I know now… I would’ve bought so many gems.

Arenanet said they’re looking into this bug, but that was quite some time ago.
Fractals is quite profitable as it has good drops (Vials of Powerful Blood, rares, etc)
Mine the rich orichalcum node in Southsun Cove, or do orichalcum runs. I was getting 1g per character pre-patch just by doing that, it would give around 70s now though as prices have dropped.
Or you can do Orr farming (boringggg)
I’ve actually got most of my gold from dungeons, they are even more profitable now due to the recent patch that makes bosses drop silver. Cof Path 1 can be done in 10 minutes and yields 1g guaranteed + drops + Tokens (If you don’t need the tokens, you can get exotic weapons and salvage or throw them in the forge).
Farming is just one of the limited end-game options.
Same here. I’ll just play the new dungeon until you need Infused items, then I’ll stop. I don’t wanna waste my gold for ascended, when I could just progress towards a legendary instead.
They confirmed that more Legendaries will be added in the future. No date has been given yet though. Also, I can’t remember the source.
Do you remember when the game is started and the areas had a lot of player? I want it back!
Posted by: Charming Rogue.8071
For a ‘high’ populated server like Desolation, the instances shouldn’t be as empty as they are now (except for Orr of course). Balthazar is always contested, and I feel like I’m walking around the world alone. It’s really stupid.
I support the idea of an ‘underflow’ map. A simple popup with: “This area doesn’t have a lot of players, so an underflow map has been created. Do you wish to go there? Yes/No/Re-enter queue”
Yea, I was quite baffled about this as well. Orichalcum was my main source of income for a long time. Doing daily orichalcum runs for some extra cash was good.
But I don’t think they should remove it. A lot of recipes require Orichalcum Ingots, so a decrease in price makes it more available to more players.
That being said, I expect a steady decrease in Orichalcum price over the next few weeks.
I’m not worrying either, and am still in the progress of slowly attaining my Legendary. The price is just too much, especially when ascended armor and weapons come into play. I’ll just stay at exotics, thanks.
What Tweek said is correct. You could also craft Bifrost on your Ranger, put it in storage and give it to your Mesmer.
The best way to level a discipline is to do other stuff, assemble gold, and just buy the materials you need from the trading post. That being said, Weaponsmith is probably the most expensive one to max. Darksteel ingots cost a lot to make, and the materials are pricey too. Armorsmith wasn’t that bad if I remember correctly. Cooking however, is currently the cheapest discipline to max (If you buy all the cooking ingredients from TP you would spend around 1.5g to max cooking).
That being said, it really depends on why you’re leveling your discipline in the first place. Do you want to make the best items? If so, then I hate to break it to you, but it’s usually cheaper to just buy the item from trading post than to craft it. If you’re looking at the craftprice and buyprice.
If you want to make a legendary, then I don’t see the need for a change, you’ll get level 400 discipline eventually. And it’s actually the least of your worries.
Unless you’re salvaging hundreds of rares and exotics after each patch, you don’t have enough data to figure out whether the rate has changed or not.
This should be posted in all these sort of threads.
RNG is RNG. Learn it. Know it. Live it.
Precursors were about luck and money, now its just unfair buisness. the fact that the trial players even can obtain a precursor is already ridiculious, but 2? really?
Looks like he was lucky.
Stop your whining, I have 730 hours clocked and I don’t even have 1 precursor yet. And I’m still 100 Icy Runestones/Onyx Lodestones away.
All you whiners, listen to the OP.
Comparing an in game event and repeating the superbowl for eg is different on so many levels
You don’t think there’s additional costs with these events? What about the people who have to work overtime?
Idk where I said otherwise. Do you pay to watch the Superbowl at home ? No. Did you pay $ to play a working game ? Yes.
“Watch it on yotube " I can’t exactly get in game loot from yotube.
Inb4 someone says “I pay electricity to watch the superbowl” lol
You payed money for what you signed up for. An MMORPG to play. You didn’t pay for the dynamic events, that’s just an extra that arenanet is giving you. They don’t have to add this stuff, they do it to make their fans happy. But some people are just impossible to please, I hope arenanet gets this.
looks like arenanet beat you to it by making them unsalvable (Haven’t tried this myself btw).
