That’s enough. I can’t get anyone to die in order to revive them. I give up. Been looking for a corpse for several hours, no ones cooperating. It’s now 2 days without completing dailies. I don’t think I missed more than one or two since launch and now I can’t complete one. Thank you Anet. Beautiful work.
Err, I got 1 point for helping a player in downed mode. Just sayin :P
Also, reviving NPC’s count too.
1) Crafting – if you are level 400 then it shouldn’t be a least bit of a problem. If you play pve chances are you’ll be gathering around along the way, which is always a good idea. If you don’t – well you might start. Crafting 20 ingots or planks/low level foods is not that hard, takes seconds:P
….
You’re missing the point in several instances.
…
.
Well to be completely honest I don’t think that most people play at 4 am. I won’t ask for your reason because that is your thing but I simply don’t understand why are some people so against it. They announced a fix to empty zones and this can be only helpful but people will never be satisfied obviously, unless they add 50 new things each month :/
If you log in just for the dailies I can understand your frustration but that is not how most people play. Most people log in to play lots of content and not actively doing dailies, daily achievement is something you do along the way while playing pve and dungeons.
And you don’t need stuff like tiny fangs or scales. Low level stuff for cooking for example is something you can always make with ease. You don’t need to farm it’s stuff you get while you play and have fun. Wasn’t trying to put yourself in my shoes but you also shouldn’t make it sound like this sucks for everybody. Most people I know and play with have 0 problem with this and love it.

Question, will this be a one time event or we can do it anytime?
Im also a ranger (mainly shortbow but long for some aoe) and i had no problem at all with that daily. You don’t need to put yer pet on passive just stop fighting things that your pet insta kills (im assuming u went to a low level mob to try to get yer dodge quota). easiest is karkas, fire at one, stay out of line of sight of your pet and just dodge, or better still go to a karka vet or event in southsun cove.
The first lot of dailies (pre-midnight) were a little annoying with that whole combo thing. What I thought were combo fields and finishers didnt seem to make any sense etc when getting the kills. But anyway, I think its alot better and more varied having differenciating dailies and im happy with it
Oh … craft things? Wait, I have all my crafts at max 400. I don’t NEED to craft anything. And the crafted things are generally worth less on the TP. Uhm. Great. So I have to take some cloth or ore or wood and grind it up, or take time each day to cook (not something fun) and churn out goods. This is silly.
Combos? Combos happen all the time. But to have to FORCE it? And with another player? What if I don’t see anyone because I’m in a low pop zone and it’s 4am? Do I miss out on my daily because no one is around? That’s absolutely stupid. Yes it’s an MMO but I shouldn’t be forced to get this done by running around and looking for other people to do a combo field.
Dodging? I dodge or sometimes I’ll soak. Sometimes I’ll dodge early, oh wait that doesn’t count!
You’re making it overly complex to get rewarded for playing. It’s not FUN any more.
Kill things underwater? Wait, with the 20 other people all crammed into the same spot fighting over mobs? sigh
Try to think things through. Please.
Did you let someone go into a black hole somewhere and get carried away with designing this, and toss user centered design out the window, and throw away use cases?
>.<
I’ll have to defend these because:
1) Crafting – if you are level 400 then it shouldn’t be a least bit of a problem. If you play pve chances are you’ll be gathering around along the way, which is always a good idea. If you don’t – well you might start. Crafting 20 ingots or planks/low level foods is not that hard, takes seconds:P
2)Combos do happen all the time and that is exactly why I see no reason why they shouldn’t come back when they fix it, if they are working on a fix. It’s not our fault the thing was bugged and made it more difficult then it should. I actually liked for once killing stuff with other players in other areas then Orr and some were asking me to help them complete that and I gladly joined. The only thing I have is F1 skill on my longbow for burning as a warrior and that worked (most of the time). Imo this was the best way and best idea to bring people together to play because that is what this game is about. They shouldn’t cater to solo players only because the game is player-friendly and you can only benefit by killing a mob with another player.
3) Cmon man. Complaining about dodging? Like you don’t dodge all the time in dungeons and Orr . You get rewarded for something trivial, technically for not even trying.
4) Underwater – I can see how camping a spot can be a problem but there are plenty of underwater areas in the game, and tons of underwater caves that few players ever go to. Ever tried that cave in Frostgorge Sound with worms? It’s no different then killing stuff on land, this just adds variety. Who knows, maybe I could actually find someone to do underwater events !
And daily healer? Come on people, that is a given. I easily revive at least 10 people a day already.
Huh. I don’t usually see near this many dead people in an evening of playing. Perhaps I should ask the people around me tonight to make sure they play sloppily so that I can get my daily done?
You don’t have to revive a dead player as far as I understood, you just gotta help a downed player.
The daily is easy.
Crafting can be done in matter of seconds
Dodge also easy if you want it done fast lure worms or other low level mobs etc.
Underwater is easy too, go to low level zone and kill salmon and other low level critters, you can 1 shot em easily
Adding an additional laurel would be a good idea imo
I like the variety, but would also like if they rewarded 2 laurels instead of just one. 1 seems so miniscule
The combo killer has been removed from the weekly rotation, clearly not working as intended.
Can you put it back once you have fixed it? I quite enjoyed killing stuff with random people. If you just fix it it will be ok. I really think it does bring ppl together to play
(edited by CharrGirl.7896)
Before patch: “the zones are empty, please fix it!”
After patch: “oh no I have to group with people!”
Only complaint I have is that you obviously didn’t test it well enough so people wouldn’t be experiencing the bug right now
I’m not against this idea at all, I actually enjoyed grouping with more people to finish it, I just don’t like how bugged it is atm. It’s not that hard people , besides it’s gonna be different every day
Seriously, don’t buy it! For 4500 karma you only get some junk items that are sold for 1-10 silver and drops of liquid karma or swig of liquid karma, not nearly enough to replenish karma you wasted. If somebody had better luck, post it here.
That was the only reason people went to the Cove, I’m afraid you made a dead zone even more dead with this. How area you planning to spring it back to life?
Whatever it is I just hope it doesn’t make looting time consuming. I like my auto-loot option lol. No idea why this was even added
I think they should always provide 2 dates: for this case 28th and 29th because EU gets the updates later at night or the next day. So giving just 1 date is not accurate and can be misleading
This is a simple suggestion, give players patch notes of the new updates before the actual updates so it can give us time to discuss the new/patched content. So far you’ve released the info only after the patch was applied, and I know most games release patch notes few days, if not few weeks before the update.
Earning gold is easier then it looks, I get minimum 5 gold daily and that is on a bad day. Usually it’s 7-15. And I rarely do dungeons lol and don’t even play that whole lot. You just gotta know how.
And about the precursor may I suggest waiting till they ad this scavenger hunt? You’ll save at least 600 gold that way if you’re willing to wait.
I’ve never had any huge problems with the camera. Then again, I only play human. You must be an oversized Norn or Charr?
Not an oversized charr but a little above minium height charr. It’s still a problem for bigger races.
As I said the design of those jumping puzzles are great, but the camera bouncing in and out of objects is extremely frustrating. And not just for puzzles, try getting on any higher spot and rotate around your surroundings to view it. Unless it’s a clean area with no objects the camera will zoom in your character. That’s what’s bothering me and tons of my friends I play with. I remember exploring Black Citadel for the first time and I got to the highest point. I wanted to rotate around and see how it look but I literally couldn’t see a thing because the camera kept zooming in my Charr’s face. Vista cutscenes shouldn’t be the only way to properly view your surroundings.
IMHO: GW2 jumping puzzles are meant to be challenges of the mastery of the controls of the game and your character. They aren’t designed to be just jump-jump-jump-finish. Certain ones will test your skill in avoiding enemies, making difficult jumps and/or knowing when you need to use a speed boost skill to get that extra foot so you don’t fall to your death. Furthermore, as the name suggests, some of them will be flat-out puzzles on how you are supposed to complete them, and that’s all part of the fun. Personally I’ve loved every single jumping puzzle in the game save for 1; the more difficult the better in my opinion. So sure, the camera is wonky and sure some of the jumps require split-second timing, but that’s all part of the fun and challenge. To take those aspects out and to water them down to the point that anyone can complete them without falling a few times and learning something would be so bad, they might as well just remove them from the game at that point.
I wasn’t even talking about the difficulty of jumping puzzles, but the kitten camera makes them 10x more difficult then it should. Certain gameplay elements should not suffer because of a poorly designed camera.

To me it’s one of those low-hanging fruit, no-brainers… that this is the reason why a first person view needs to exist, like pretty much every other mmo, whom had the option to quickly zoom in and out of.
If I had to compare it to something it’s like wearing goggles during a paint ball session in the summer. The darn things steam up on you, you are under attack and you are so impaired visually that you just start doing some random things in hope of success. It does trigger severe frustration, but you have to do what you have to do. But you’d give nearly anything to not have that temporary moment of frustration every so often.
Yeah that’s a perfect description actually – it’s nothing but frustrating in most cases.
They are not badly designed, but the worst camera i’ve seen in an mmo really makes it hard to enjoy em :/ And yeah first person view, definite must. I don’t know why is it so hard to add?
While doing jumping puzzles for my monthly achievement I realized that the camera is simply not designed for doing these things. No matter how much you zoom out to get a better view of your surroundings and possible jumping platforms it always zooms max in if you rotate around an object that that it’s extremely irritating because it doesn’t allow a clear view and you often fall down.
All I ask is, why design such a awkward camera if it’s completely against those jumping puzzles? Is there a fix for it in horizon?
Eq2 has one of the best housing systems in all the mmo’s. Nowhere else does a player have more power to manipulate their own environment than that game. Even the tradeskills allow the crafting of home items. I’d love for ANet to implement something like that here.
The Divinity’s Reach neighborhoods just “scream” for player housing. Rurikton for me…if something like that ever gets added
Good, because I would really want an aquarium with skales and a kennel for mini Logan:)
I don’t have a problem with the duration but rather display of it, night doesn’t really feel like night, and there are no proper transitions with dawn and dusk- also it’s random throughout zones :/
It’s gotta be about Jormag! Tho when I first saw that concept art piece, I thought it was something from Cantha since the guy riding looks a lot like some kind of chinese emperor
Jealous? lol. Exploit is a exploit any way you look at it, doing something which wasn’t intended is exploiting, and this is affecting the market as we speak since the price of ori is going way below that it should be.
And how do you know it wasn’t intended? Did that pick exist since launch or they added it later on? I’ve seen a general increase in prices, from ectos to rares so I wouldn’t say that it affects the TP in any way. The prices are not dropping – at least not on my server
I dont think this is wrong. It’s not an exploit you’re just playing the game. I’ve seen loads of people do it and tbh, the ori price is still 2 silver it hasn’t dropped or anything so to people who say others should be banned because of this are imho, just jealous or something. I’ve been helping a friend get his 400 ore for legendary this way for 2 days now, and would be pretty sad if they removed that pick. I don’t need em. Have over 100 gold anyways and no idea what to do with it
And word of advice, if you don’t want them nerfing every steady and nice way of making money in the game making threads like this won’t help that cause.

Hah, my boyfriend has an engineer and complains how he does little damage, and how the grenade kits are boring to use despite bigger damage. So he said something in the lines of “wish I had a machine gun for my charr”.
So there you go, add a machine gun :P
Oh yeah I plan on getting that one for my female human guardian, very fitting, very cool
It’s not that special, it’s all about luck anyways. For example I tried farming sharks for scales to make a rare inscription, got 15 in maybe 1 hour, so it’s more like a mindless grind then fun
- Maybe more voice options
That is an overwhelmingly bad idea.
Guild Wars 2 has too much voice content. As it is right now, a line from the latter stages of the personal storyline has to be voiced by 10 different voice actors (5 races with two genders each). Offering a single additional voice per race/gender combination would increase this to 20 different voice actors. This would increase the cost so much (remember how expensive TOR was?) that it would force ArenaNet to cut costs.
IMO, the reason why Trahearne talks so much is because it’s cheaper to have a single voice actor saying those things than recording the same dialogues with 10 different voice actors; we all know the price we, players, pay for that, considering how Trahearne half steals the spotlight from our characters.
Adding more voices for player characters would not only add little to the game, but it would also make ArenaNet more likely to use Trahearne-like shortcuts, and so make the next stories worse than the main campaign story was. Since it’s likely that ArenaNet will add more races in the future, with more voice actors, offering more than one voice per race-gender combination would demand ArenaNet to add 4 new voice actors per new race introduced. Two new races later, ArenaNet would need to record the same line with 28 different voices for every single thing said by our characters, which would be a massive waste of money.
That’s why I said “maybe” ^^
It’s difficult to create various looking characters of different age groups if the voice wont fit.
But that’s a minor issue.
Bigger issue is just the fact so many options are lacking atm.
We players, since beta and launch had a series of suggestions of how the current character creator could be improved, and I was kinda hoping to see some mention of it in the new blog post. I know you wrote at the end something in the lines of “just because it’s not listed doesn’t mean it’s not being considered” , so my question is, are you reviewing and taking in the feedback we have left since beta?
I know it’s probably not on your list of top priorities, but many players including me would be much more satisfied with a more detailed and comprehensive character creation because it’s several years behind other games currently on the market.
What we need:
- More options for faces for all races, hair, horns, beards, decorations
- Separation of scars, makeup etc. from the face preset
- Maybe more voice options
- Body sliders instead of presets, but not so that it would allow deformations
Reading the forums, there have been lots of suggestions during past few months that we should get a first person view as an option and I agree. But before they add that I think they should fix current camera problems, such as bouncing off objects when you zoom in, or simply when playing with a bigger character such as Norn or Charr…
But thanks to this, I discovered something I would actually love to see in the game…a view of my weapon when entering a first person mode. I know this isn’t a FPS but think how cool it would be. To allow players from switching to first person view to max zoomed out, I think it would be great because it would offer much needed variety.
Oh and I also think that the view distance is shamefully small, the distance fog is really ugly and would much prefer to see the world all the way like in Tera.
Not the best screenie, but I got the idea when I got in the fake first person with gun:
Hm I think that would be too much commitment. Maybe introduce a weekly achievement instead?
Nothing wrong with complete nudity itself but I think it should stay in a bedroom
Bacon is so overrated. I’d rather be able to grill fish :P
It’s a rather normal and common feature in most games, and older ones as well. When I played GW1 I always found it silly how there were random sun rays that were there regardless of the light source or scripted weather. It saddened me to see it’s the same in GW2. There should be snow, rain, hail, sandstorms and wind occurring randomly anywhere in any zone, not just in bits of certain zones. For example, walk down 1 path in Sylvari starter zone, sun. Take 2 steps up one hill, suddenly sky turns gray and starts raining, the whole color scheme changes. Walk 2 steps back and poof, sun again.
I’m not gonna lie it’s extremely stupid. Even ancient games like baldur’s gate have random weather effectsEven FFXI had weather effects, and some were quite impressive for their time. Like snow storms in Fauregandi that literlly made moving very scary (before they raised the 75 cap). Mount zhaylom (would be basically our Mount Maelstrom) heat waves that made mirages of enemies and made you feel the heat in it’s own little way. Sand storms in Valkurm dunes that blurred vision. It wasn’t super detailed, and graphics were no where near what they are today and yet it made zones feel alive (the zone itself not the events/enemies in the zone). It’s sad to see that so little has been done here in terms of weather except for Dredghaunt cliffs and some places in lornar’s pass which were awesome.
I did play Aion a bit and it also had a nice little addition, your character would react according to the weather effects which was a cool thing.
For example, if it started raining, your char would take out a giant leaf and hold it above her head like an umbrella, in snowy areas you would shiver/admire the snow, and in desert/hot areas your char starts to get annoyed by the heat and tries to cool down with fans. It really means nothing gameplay wise but it ads a really nice touch of your character being a part of the environment itself.
I added a picture to show other areas as well.
Sylvari areas at night would be awesome with their luminescent plants and flowers.
This would add so much atmosphere into the game!
Well this is the problem when you don’t have multiple voices to choose from. It basically fits just one image. I created a bit older looking female, muscular too. So I like the voice and I couldn’t imagine a “girly” one. I suppose that’s the way to go with the norn but I can understand the frustration
I like those pictures. Also noticed how everything has the same shadow regardless of the day cycle? And the grass is still green.

I really think we need an option to buy 400 gems at minimum instead of 800. There are tons of items below 400 gems and if you want them you gotta spend $10 on 800 gems or 7-8 gold, depending on how the exchange rate is going. Saying this especially since I want to change my characters name a bit, and the kit costs 350…and really don’t want to spend 10 dollars on name change so, I think we should get an option to buy 400 gems as well.
Amen on that. It almost looks like they’re adding things they don’t want you to know about. Random nerfs and such. It’s frustrating
I see that people do play em now Since this has somewhat become a thread to present your female charr I’m gonna do the same:
Dragons should appear randomly, at different places on the map (maybe have a few “landing spots” designated and just pick one at random) they should be semi-mobile (no sweetspots where you just stand and spam attacks) and most importantly, there should be a mechanism in place to enable them to either win or flee under certain circumstances.
THEN the rewards could be more epic. Otherwise buffing rewards for something that is a guaranteed win after a 5 minute attack spam is just giving freebies to players.
Different locations would be sweet but random spawn time? How would people know about it? You can’t just travel around all day to find out, waypoint cost would be too much. Maybe if they spawned once a day with increased difficulty, different mechanics (they should move around a bit…I know many people don’t play it on max settings but some of us do and we wish to see all that dragon sweetness in motion), and increased loot, would be better
everything you do in game has a goal = profit, no matter how fun or not fun it may be. You’re not gonna do something just for sake of fun unless its your first time, after that you begin expecting some reward for your time investment and having fun while doing so. Otherwise, it becomes repetitive and less interesting.
Umm… no. If that’s the opinion of the majority of players, it’s quite sad, but it explains a lot.
Before you derail the thread with another triple post I ask you to read again what i said. I didn’t write a whine post about how horrible the loot is, I just asked why people do dragons, despite bad loot, and got my answer – chance for precursor weapon/fun/coolness/music etc. I wanted to know what motivates people because all I can see in chat after defeating one of those dragons is complaining how horrible the loot is, how much it sucks, etc. So that got me in question why people do it- Fun is rewarding by itself but most people don’t play mmo-s just to skip around and have fun w/o reward even tho that can be amusing. And it’s not sad, it’s just how those types of games are played, and I find nothing wrong about it
Not sure why to some people it’s always about the reward, why can’t you just have fun? Who ruined your childhood so bad that you can’t play for entartainment anymore?
Lol nobody ruined my childhood but let’s be honest everything you do in game has a goal = profit, no matter how fun or not fun it may be. You’re not gonna do something just for sake of fun unless its your first time, after that you begin expecting some reward for your time investment and having fun while doing so. Otherwise, it becomes repetitive and less interesting. That’s why dungeons have 3 modes in the first place, and have guaranteed silver reward in the end/tokens.
Because it’s fun
that’s a decent answer, it’s really fun seeing those dragons on max settings moving around smoothly but after few times, hitting 1 leg isn’t exactly fun anymore
Hi, this may be an odd question but, I just want to see what it’s all about.
I just recently started doing dragon events Shatterer,Jormag, and Tequatl, but all 10 times I did it I got nothing valuable from the chest. Only blues, eventually a green, and some useless medallion.
I read there is a small chance that they drop legendary precursors or mystifc forge stones, but I haven’t seen that happen yet, to any1. So why are people still doing these dragons even tough obviously you don’t get anything worthwhile? Is there some sort of secret I’m not familiar with or I’m just unlucky with the drops?
There must be something if people are doing it on daily basis for 3 months now.
Is there a chance we will get increased view distance and camera issues resolved ?
This times a million!!! I had a bug awhile back where I was able to zoom my camera out maybe three times the distance as you can now, and it was glorious! I was able to see everything going on around me in sPvP and allowed be to play better. It honestly made this game much more enjoyable and was reminiscent of past MMO’s camera controls (in a very good way).
I also had a “bug” once where zoomed in and I could see my rifle in front of me like I was in a fps. Seriously, they should add this, it’s so cool!
I’d say yes, it’s worth it. Made over 10 gold in the past 2 weeks on cooking alone
