I’d like to ad that the event is bugged on Desolation server, the one where you have to clear the settlement from karka eggs, it won’t let you do that.
I would also like to know this been hanging around the cove for the past 1 hour or so and she has not spawned yet even tho we controlled all settlements for the most part /:
Will it stay after event? Please?
Will it be on sale in gem store? It has a bank slot in storage but you are re-selling the older minis before rolling out the last one so all I wanna know :P
I’d gladly buy any expansion just like in GW1 over any of this temporary content bullkitten
It looks exactly like Arctodus or how it’s spelled..it’s just a reskin. I was hoping it would look like a real cub like that lion and hippo but since it’s not…not gonna buy it :/
Please oh PLEASE let the new dungeon stay there, all I’m asking!
Temporary dungeons, that very idea sucks…Southsun will become an empty zone after this again… don’t you realize that most popular zones are the ones with dungeons? And big boss events?

But he doesnt look hot in a bikini.
But he does look hot in a speedo.
I would prefer Doern Velazquez, though.
As a girl, I approve of this comment.
On the location where I took this screenshot is a new camp and I think we could really use a waypoint there. There are events around it and it’s far away from other waypoints and the way is crowded with tons of mobs so it would make things a lot simpler.
Don’t forget lord Farens swim pants, I think I stared at my screen a bit longer then I should :P
My only problem with it is insane lag. The same kind of lag and freezing I would get prior to disconnect, so that can bother yes
You can answer all your questions by remembering that males are the intended audience for these games.
What if I told you that not all boys are into oversexualized outfits? You’re putting all males in the same bucket. Not all men act like drooling caveman. My boyfriend prefers dignified outfits over sexy ones, so does my brother. Shocking i know. Inb4 labels.
(edited by CharrGirl.7896)
That guy Bradain at pearl islet at Southsun seriously needs to shut the kitten up. He keep spamming so much I had to turn down my sound because it get’s so irritating. Same situation as with that NPC in front of CoF but that is thankfully fixed
The better question is: do we ever get real weather effects?
It’s localized everywhere and it’s so lame.
Breaks the immersion for me sometimes to walk around in one zone and 2 seconds after i cross some invisible border and whoop, rain.actually that is very realistic
where i live anyways
True, there can always be one troll cloud that makes it rain above just 1 part of the city but it ain’t constantly like that. We need dynamic weather with random snowstorms, sandstorms, rainstorms…etc. The world feels more closed to me if it’s not randomized.
More RNG, all cool stuff in BLC and at the end of event a huge mass burning of all Karka on a giant bonfire, where you gotta strip in your underwear and dance so you get special buff that allows you to temporary swim from Southsun to Caeldon forest!

Not something on the side, but they did say it was an experiment and now necs how Living Story arcs will play out. A basic teaser I guess.
Time will tell though. I’ve enjoyed it, albeit with some criticism as would be expected. There’s plenty of valid feedback that’s needs to be acknolwedged/addressed for future updates. Getting rid of the Living Story achievements maybe one option. They exist for the sake of existing and a very silly pve leaderboard. I’m quite certain a team of anets calibre can think of a more imaginative alternative to marking the story other than this.
Achievements. You know what would be great actually? If each achievement gave some kind of reward. I had no motivation to complete any of those achievements, the ones i completed came by randomly as I was playing through content, I wasn’t actively hunting them. It doesn’t have to be anything grand but just putting a little chest at the end of achievment description would make players more then happy. It would be a fun activity to do so.
(Altough Halloween one was pretty nice, since you earned the title)
About OP, yeah I agree partially, but I actually like those bonfires. I put em on each of my characters, and it’s great for leveling new ones. Now if they were a permanent addition to the game that would be great.
I really want to explore cantha in GW2 again, all the tall buildings, structures and the culture, perfect for jumping puzzles.
Bring back Cantha and Elona! I don’t care about the moltan alliance or karka both suck anyways, i want the old world back in all it’s glory
.
Please make it happen Anet. As GW2 Fans we have to “spam” this thread, so that Anet knows, we want Cantha. Asians are human too.
This is so true. Why focus so much on things most players don’t care about, and not expanding the game into new areas? We already have 10 locked areas in Tyria alone…and whatever happened to Elona/Cantha?
Seriously, this may seem brutally honest but nobody cares too much about karka or molten alliance. It’s a cool idea, definetely, but it just seems like a filler content. You know, like you watch a really good anime, and you have to sit for several months or year of fillers just to get to the main story and goodies? We need bigger things that will expand and evolve Guild Wars 2, not just change bits and pieces. We need DE getting involved into new stuff, and our characters. (Trahearne can rot in in his keep)
There is so much lore leftover from GW1 that simply needs to be expanded and added to the game. Cantha is a huge part, so is Elona.
So stop wasting your resources and talents on mini living stories and work on something grand that will make players throw money at ya. I know it sounds harsh but that’s how I feel about it. It may keep players interested short-term but ultimately, it’s just filler content – at least so far.
Nothing would make me more happy if we could fight Krakaltorrik by the end of the year to unlock path to Elona, and cleanse it from Palawa Joko. Even tho a super-sized Orr does not intrigue me much. For those who don’t get it, in GW1 on the fault of our own main characters, we didn’t kill a lich called Joko, and now he turned beautiful Elona into wasteland of zombies. So yeah, doesn’t sound too attractive to me.

Just have to ask… Can you picture a Charr in a speedo? Cuz I can’t and don’t really want to (horrifying mental image that I’d like to avoid).
Charrpeedo’s? lol
Sounds like a good Pokemon name to me.
And yay for swimsuits!
Must bring chaos gloves and destoyer gloves, I am glad that weapons made it into the game, but gloves is a must!
Also, please have more skimpy female armor =p I think there is plenty of conservative armor in game.
In addition we need better staff skins, so badly!
Armor is not same thing as clothing. Majority of people forget that. MMO industry has turned armors into a fashion show and that’s ok for those who like it, but don’t mix those 2 things. Armor by default is not supposed to be cute or skimpy, but hey, kittenton of people like those things, so whatever.
I was just about to make a thread about it because it started happening today to me as well. I never had that problem before, after I click “play” I just get a black screen and only way I can exit is to open task manager and manually shut it, with “guild wars 2 not responding”.
How did this happen all of sudden? ._.
Rox looks horrible. It’s like somebody tried to merge anime-styled cats with charr, and as a result, we have this big eyed, creepy looking character. Seriously, whoever designed her…we’ll let’s not go there. Please no more cutesy charr. She looks completely fine in concept art!
Who would seriously like to see a character with boxing gloves and rabbit ears fighting dragons?
I have to admit, I’d probably giggle my rear off if I could fight Zhaitan with boxing gloves and hear the Brawl Champion jingle going off every 2 seconds. XD
Well yeah but it’s immersion-breaking :P Some people are kittening so much about that unicorn bow already (I personally don’t mind) but seeing stuff like that in combat would be a total mood killer lol
If it is not providing sufficient reward for taking it down, I would just pass it by. The only good it might be for is so folks can practice their skills on it.
Its too bad rewards for most champions I’ve ever been involved with taking down are so poor. Some vet rewards are a bit better than a lot of the champion rewards, but that is just my observation. I certainly do not run around trying all the champions in the game nor do I bother with vets unless they are all included in the dailies.
Sorta on par with the icky rewards for any of the BL Chests I have opened. I am really disappointed in the poor reward system in GW2 but, hey, its only a game.
Yeah I think that champions are pretty much useless outside big events. They have insane amount of HP, deal heavy damage, and they have as much chance to drop something good/bad as any regular mob. If it’s not linked with some big chain event with decent reward at the end good luck finding somebody who will join you in your time waste of killing a champion.
That’s why I was a bit dumbstruck when this mob got changed to champion. It’s a simple little event of smashing some eggs and you can solo it, so the broodmother at the end was a normal-type/veteran class you can also solo, bit slower but still. It doesn’t guard any chest, it’s not a part of some big event…
There are actually tons of such events for killing champion mobs. Nobody does them – it’s just not worth it, and it’s not really fun.
Yeah I kinda agree. Tho I never buy town clothes, since there is no real point in wearing it much (I’d like to have those riding clothes in combat), tho I pretty much understand why is it like that. Who would seriously like to see a character with boxing gloves and rabbit ears fighting dragons?
If you noticed, females always get more revealing stuff. I guess it reflects real life fashion to a degree. I never really saw any guys with very short pants outside.
Tho I must admit, very long, baggy swim pants for males compared to small bikinis for women kinda annoy me…connect the dots and it comes off as “males should hide their bodies, while females should expose as much as possible.” It’s so freaking ugly.
I even once asked why don’t guys wear shorties. Needless to say answers were pretty shallow and homophobic, so you try guess.
(edited by CharrGirl.7896)
I liked Factions environment. Storyline was so-so, voice acting was laughable (for the most part), but had its charm. The asian-styled architecture was beautiful and I’d definitely want to see it return!
First of, I really like the idea of living story incorporated into our game. It ads a breath of new life in the existing world you created, and it keeps us interested:)
But now I realize that there are 9 or 10 zones, completely locked from exploration so far.
Basically everything north of Kryta and Ascalon, Maguuma Jungle, a good chunk of Orr, Ring of Fire, Crystal Desert, and 1 area between south Shiverpeaks and Ascalon.
While it’s nice to have stories that expand and evolve the world in current places, many players, including me would like to explore these new areas as well. Not to mention other 2 continents you have, but that may be expansion stuff.
It would be nice to know if something is planned on this matter…it would be great to visit blood legion homelands again, or ring of fire.
Since the patch, upon doing world boss events, I only get 1 standard rare from bonus chest, and not a single rare from the big chest. Not one. I don’t want to start a hate thread or something, but is this really, really bad luck all of sudden or Anet nerfed the rewards?
Because if they did it would really suck.
I’m popping a suggestion here to revert the risen broodmother in Malchor’s Leap back to veteran rank, because now that she’s champion nobody is even trying to kill it. I would often pass by and do it for some nice karma but now it makes no sense, nor it’s worth the effort because you need a lot of people and time for a random mob.
Please revert it back to veteran.
Edit: Could you move this to the suggestion section? My bad.
(edited by CharrGirl.7896)
Don’t think so. They did before in GW1, if you played EoTN one charr says “this non-human diet has me cranky” hehe..
This one is so much better, don’t revert to old one it was goofy, the bouncing
Nice little detail there. I just wish they’d update textures on all faces and horns, they’re imho, horribly low.
I really hope they bring in decent player housing soon. Games like EQ2 were awesome for this and kept people coming back and back, as well as creating whole sub-genres of crafting and collecting.
Blizzard promised player housing in WoW at the beginning, then completely forgot it. I really hope ArenaNet won’t do that too
While nice, housing is often just a fluff, and I vote for Guild Halls I mean heaven’s sake, Guild Wars 1 had em and they were kinda important…and many people are dissapointed that it’s not in the game at all.
Also: it would be great to make this a sticky.
Know what… Nero and Dante are hot, so cool and totally attractive. I would date Dante if he was not fictional. Seriously, video games, movies and tv series have ruined my expectations for the opposite sex and I will die alone because no one will ever fullfil what the medias have shown me…
Or I realise that media does not equal real life and enjoy the very good looking men in movies and games and settle for someone, perhaps less attractive, strong and awesome, but sweet and kind. Just like most guys will have to settle for a girl not half as hot as the game avatars. As long, as we all understand media does not reflect real life… what is the harm?
We are attracted to perfektion… regardless of gender, is perfection achieveable outside of a fictional universe? No, not really. Is it ok to pretend in a game and fantazise based on movies and series? Yes, yes it is.
Whats attractive on men is different from whats attractive on women… know whats super sexy on both genders though? Self confidence. Knowing who you are, what you can and cannot do, accept it and just enjoy being whoever you are.
Skimpy clothing is not lack of confidence… it is confidence in its purest form.
Is Eir any less of a strong character because her armor is sort of skimpyish? Don’t think so. Leo is making a fairly good point.
True, so true. Now let’s make clothing like Nero or Dante take place in GW2 and I will be happy :P
Men have pecs (although I’m sure some players might enjoy making less muscled/husky males). As for being sexist and a double standard, it is to you because you’re not seeing the other side of the coin.
Women like options. Currently, they have options. They can wear ‘dresses’, they can wear very revealing things, and they can wear full coverage.
Can my male wear a suit?
Can my male wear a loincloth?
You’re the blind one because you think options are degrading to women but reverse the double standard that in the process of giving female avatars more options, males are stifled for options.
You do realize that that is what double standard means, right? Men can’t wear a loincloth, women get to run around in armor showing their underwear. That is exactly the double standard I was talking about. A double standard applies to both genders across the board. Its just more bothersome from the female side, due the inherit sexualization of the outfits.
You ask for a loincloth! Nothing is stopping you!
But if males get a loincloth set, females would want a loincloth set too (as would I) and it wouldn’t change anything (for MQM)!!
Lol, I’d like to see an MMO where there is an armor set where female version is covered and male revealing :P But people would just kitten about it I guess. Because of traditional gender roles, males are seen as dominant and powerful therefore anything that reveals their sexuality too much be it dressing skimpily etc. puts a stigma right away. I don’t agree with it but it seems we can’t escape the stereotypical portrayal of genders just yet.
Why do people keep saying this isn’t based on real life? Everything you see in game is based on usual images you see in media and all over the place so it’s a bit weird to say that just cuz it ain’t real, we can do whatever we want in our game and nobody should find it offensive because of that. It’s the feeling I get whenever I see a post like that
It comes down to 1 fundamental fact – if you have a single armor set, where both sets, male and female, are designed to be practical then it’s fair. If the same armor set is skimpy and revealing for both genders, then it’s fair. If within the same set only the male one is practical and closed, and female revealing, that’s sexist, I’m sorry.
I think this is the best point made in the thread so far. It’s fine if there is more of one kind of armor or another as long as it looks similar on both genders. I can’t count the amount of times that I’ve had potential transmog sets for my female characters ruined by a difference between male and female skin coverage.
Anyways, this would be nothing for me (or anyone that shares my opinion) to be upset about if certain sets and pieces didn’t look objectively better on another gender.
I’m sorry… but I’m going to have to disagree with this point of view. Ya’ll may view it as sexist to offer separate male and female variants to an armor set. I however, find it more sexist to force the male armor variants on females.
If I was told in RL that I cant wear a dress to an event because all the males will be wearing a suit and tie, and that I a female will have to dress the same. I wouldn’t call that equality. If I wanted to dress like a male, I’d dress like a male out of my own free will, I don’t want to be told that I have to dress like a male.
Also, currently a large percentage of Medium and Heavy armors are the same across both male and female. There are only minor changes to the female versions, such as a lower neck line on several medium armors and a female breast-plate on heavy armors.
I think you missed the point here. I wasn’t talking about how the armors should look completely 100% the same, but simply considering skin coverage. If I have a full plate Vigil armor for male, why should female version, as it is now, have opening to reveal boobs? See? Unfair and it looks stupid. I was just saying we should avoid such examples. There is a subtle way to provide armor equality without one side looking awkward.
And how in the world is sexist to offer male armor variants on females? It’s armor. Not clothing. We’re not talking about dresses and suits here.
We would really appreciate if you could ad timers in zones where boss spawns. Too often the times on Dragon Timer website are wrong and that is pretty much only reliable source. And too often it happens that I wait in a specific zone for 30+ minutes only to find out that the timer was wrong, so that really leaves a bitter feel
Indeed, but not gemstore-style ones. Too many games do this I want them to update character creation regulary like Aion did
Nah it’s not better imo it’s not running in slow motion now:P
When you take damage your charr will run a bit differently now ^^ Very nice little touch, any1 else noticed?
Yeah I actually counted, i was disconnected from the game 12 times today, and most of them during fun events. It rarely happens but today was pretty nasty. Everything is ok with my connection so I assume I’m not the only one with such large number of dc-s lately?
To add to discussion, if you want more skimpy armors make it both ways.
I have yet to see something like this in game
http://www.terafans.com/uploads/1276104551/gallery_24_4_5085197.png
If any1 is demanding more female skimpy armors we have the right to demand more male ones too. We got nothing like that in game, except gladiator armor maybe but that’s sorta expected to be like that. We got plenty of fem characters running around with 90% skin exposure light armors and that T3 medium one, so it’s not really fair towards people who would like to see some skin on their male characters.
It’s not something I personally prefer but it would be fun for once.
I’m all in for more options. What I’m against is double standards in armor design. Armor is not clothing – it’s meant to protect you. Google and real life armors and you’ll see what I’m talking about. That’s why I find most light armors like that in this game insulting, and it creeps me out that most people would go for it, but whatever. In my personal opinion we don’t need more of those, if you want me to be honest. What we need is more armor sets in general. GW2 has handled this issue very mature (well, for the most part) and it would be absolutely degrading if they went in the direction of most MMO-s regarding gender armor issue.
(edited by CharrGirl.7896)
… Against having the CHOICE.
So you’re saying there is no choice in this game?
Imo GW2 has done it just right compared to other MMO-s where 90% of female armors are mostly nothing but skimpy. Is it really so immersion breaking to you because you can’t see your character with half clothes off? I really don’t understand that. And it’s always this discussion over and over again. I don’t want GW2 to turn into a game like tera or tons of other mmo-s that cater mostly to horny teenage boys.
It’s a bit sad that we have such a beautiful level 80 zone with no players in it. Or very little – I think the only reason people went there was that rich orichalcum vein you removed. So I’ll throw in few suggestions how to revive the dead zone:
- Add a world boss event. Ancient Karka event was a good idea, but poorly executed in my honest opinion, but there is plenty room for improvement. Adding a mega world boss with chest spawn at the end in form of some karka or giant shark would be a great idea, and more people would flock there to do it.
- Add more dynamic events. Big events – not puny collect-this-and-that nobody usually bothers doing but some big events that will change the environment, or lead up to the spawn of a mega boss, with lots of waves of mobs. People love tons of waves, it’s good loot and fun.
- Add a dungeon. The premise and the location is pretty much set, all you gotta do now is design some sort of cave dungeon with karka that can also extend to underwater caves. Add with that contested areas, something in the style of Orr temple events.
I believe if you add these 3 simple things to Southsun Cove you’ll see players flocking there regularly.
Hm, yea the problem with those world bosses is fact they’re very interesting looking but the fight itself it not very interesting. I see you probably did some stuff with optimizing the game because it lags a bit less (tho I usually get lowest at 20 fps on ultra settings on dragons which is still very smooth) .
But for starters, some bosses should have more HP, like the Jungle Wurm, Frozen Maw (does that thing even have a form? I’ve never seen past that Shaman because he dies too fast), and maybe Fire Elemental. I’m not saying they should be ultra OP and boring like claw of Jormag, but doing something so they wouldn’t die in seconds is a good start.
Now second step, if you are going to increase their HP, make the fight more interesting. If you just increase the HP, it will make fights more boring and longer. I mean basically all you do is spam 1 key at 1 location. Making bosses run around like Megadestroyer would be a good move, because it would break the monotony of standing in 1 spot (not to mention auto-attack just breaks so many times). So, the key is to find balance so that the bosses dont end up too challenging, or take too long like Jormag. I really never do that dragon boss because it’s very annoying.
I really like the new Roxx horns you added for the female Charr. I just wish they are able to scale in size since they’re too big for my taste. Also improving the texture on them wouldn’t hurt. Is it possible we get this option, like all other horns?
That’s all bonus content you don’t need to play it. I’m 23 years old and I did grow up with such games so I kinda fail to see your point there :P
