it depends on what you want to do:
1)If you want to do dungeons and fractals you usually go full berserker stats and trait for spotter and at least adept major spirit trait.
2)If you want to do WvW zerging ranger is not a good choice at the moment
3)If you want to roam in WvW then you have 3 viable builds:
-spirits
-traps
-beastmaster
For point 3, I have found apothecary armor with 4xAltruism and 2xWater runes with some rabid/celestial traits lets me play all 3 builds effectively off of the same gear set. I use Axe/torch and Sword/horn. It works like a charm

It is a bleh trait too high up the trait tree. It should be a master major trait at best.
Try using trapper with a mix of rabid and apothecary(celestial) gear. Also use boon duration runes. Trait 0 30 30 10 0 and use sword+horn and axe+torch. This way you can circumvent using SOTH and can take a stun breaker or a 3rd trap.
Horn is very good for trappers as you can blast finish the traps.
Some new maps, and perhaps a precursor scavenger hunt that takes a long time and takes you all over the world could be pretty cool no?
What if she is a good guy trying to stop something terrible like Primordius or an invasion from another world? Perhaps she just does not give a crap about going through “proper” channels and just does her own thing to defend Tyria?
Please compress the casting times to a maximum of 1/2 seconds for all bears and 1 second for jungle stalker. These guys are so unresponsive.
LS is fine, the problem is the actual story presentation. If a player has to read stuff outside the game to get an idea of whats happening then something is very wrong.
it depends , if you want to use the shortbow a combination of rabid and celestial or rabid and carrion is good. If you want to use axe/torch and sword/dagger dire is good
SOTW is good if you:
-either go with signet build and use it for the active (sub par build at the moment)
-can get it over 100 hp/sec which needs around 500 HP
Otherwise getting either renewal or lightning reflexes can save you more lost hitpoints then SOTW can heal you up
I would suggest making Howler. Horn is used for berserker dungeon builds, can be used to great effect with trap, spirit or bleed burst builds as well. Its a sure win.
Either that, or if u can afford it make the sword Bolt.

The vanilla value needs to be reduced to say 300 hp/sec but the scaling off healing power needs to be buffed considerably .
It wont be good because:
1-power scaling takes pet damage into consideration for some stupid reason
2-few inbuilt defensive stuff like stealth, teleports, blocks etc..
actually the +1 pet bonus is roughly 50% of the bonus heroes get. So if you invest 100 into BM line the hp increase is 500 instead of 1000 .

I find it funny how people argue against blatant design blunder fixes by saying how it will make stuff OP . Who gives a kitten!!! Fix the game to work properly then deal with balance.
Actually , most dungeons where you would take a ranger in an optimized group they wont die .

Think about it like this:
PvP – quite good
Small scale combat and roaming – quite good
PvE – very dependent on group composition and dungeon
Zerg – abysmal
Verdict – viable but unstable

Im sorry but going from 200 to 400 was anything but evolution….
Nerfing it to 300-350 would be ok . Nerfing it to 370 is not even noticable
The good:
-new skills
-PvP rewards
-improved communication with the players
The bad:
-Warrior sustain without real investment in gear or runes
-Stealth is still extremely boring to play against, even if balanced for PvP. In WvW its hillarious
-No PvP and PvE/WvW skill split
The ugly:
-Ranger traits
-Zoo builds
-Pet AI
Its the combination of 400 hp/sec healing signet , 360 hp/3sec adrenal health and cleansing ire that got warriors from bleh to OMGWTFOP within one patch because you dont need any sustain stats(HPow) and only need 20 into defense for full sustain.
U can run sword+horn and shortbow . Standard PvE trait dustribution of 20 25 0 25 0 . Use the shortbow on some bosses, but stick with your team in melee when they do it .
In MM u take: steady aim and spotter
in Skirm u take: Pet critical damage and pet might on critical
In NM u take: vigorous spirits and whatever
For utilities: Healing spring, frost spirit, zephyr, sickem and RAO or Nature spirit.
Pets: jaguar and lynx/jungle stalker
Full berserker armor; you want an OH axe in your inventory for the shaman fractal
Even if it is a l2p issue , thieves can reset fights all day long . They cant be cought, they can run away whenever they want . In short, they dictate when the fight happens and how long it lasts .
Dealing with noobseeker spam berserker thieves is easy. The problem is with perma stealth trolls
honestly, considering the pet is such a huge part of the class it should not take any damage at all .
Heh, I would actually be quite happy if they nuked the spirit ranger. Hell, I would love it if the pet was optional or if we had full control over it . Sadly it aint happening
TA aether path is actually one of the coolest dungeons in the game . It is fairly hard , its not just a corner stack fest and the boss fights are fun. The rewards are solid as well
They are not bad , just limited
Honestly, i do not see what makes the pro in gw2 so pro. Game is easy enough to play. Perhaps team coordination but individual skill is not that high because the skill ceiling is rather low

Balance is not important when there are still design issues, the biggest one being the pet AI and implementation. Then there are design choices giving someone low risk high reward strategies, like stealth or innate sustainability. Also, a design decision has been made so that ranged builds are inferior to melee builds due to being safe. Various other things.
And the biggest culprit of all, REFUSAL TO SPLIT PVE AND PVP
It is quite hilarious that you guys are mainly focusing on Spirit ranger to complain about, Ranger players are complaining about spirits boredom and lack of pet control and the whole bit where you HAVE TO use the pet, yet nothing changes… In fact , we got another spirit !!! YAY!!!! not…..
Having said that , the spirit ranger is a boring and relatively easy to play build , but it does not have everything by design, it just relies on silly mechanics. Elementalists, irrelevant of how weak they are percieved, are a class that by design has everything . Any stronger and people will complain again how OP they are, which they were at one point . Now they made warriors stronger with HS, ire and adrenal health. Engi has stupid passive imunities…. Etc, etc
I do not think things will change. A design decision as already been made, for better or worse. We might see more of the same balancing/rebalancing but nothing major

Why not a bit of both ? Hell , why not move adrenal health to another line to split it up from cleansing ire ? there are many possibilities

Quite honestly , the issue here is not that healing signet is too strong per se , its the fact that the warrior can get up to 600 hp/sec simply by equipping signet and going 20 into defense . U get 400 from HS , 360/3sec from adrenal health and 3 condition removal every 7-10 seconds (which is guaranteed as you use AOE bursts in the hambow build) . This allows warriors to completely skip sustain stats and runes , healing power and regeneration runes (dwayna for example), thus keeping focus on damage and raw toughness .
No other class can get such a degree of sustain for so little investment , maybe the elementalist , but their sustain phase has no damage and their big sustain heal can be interrupted . Hence the problem why warriors are OP
Solution: nerf healing signet regeneration from 400 to 300 , but increase the scaling from healing power
they could at least lower the CD on some f2 skills . Jungle stalker 3 second cast time is hillarious
LB and SB are both equally crap now
They needed to make a NPC the main hero , which is fine , they just did it poorly
They said that they do not intend to fix anything pet related !!! At least we know this
Well , the longbow auto attack is quite decent at the moment and I would be worried if it got stronger simply because i hate auto attack spamming . Compressing rapid fire from 4 seconds to 2 seconds would be an amazing burst buff , but that would be only part of the fix needed , but irrelevant of other fixes the channel time is too long at the moment .
The 2nd part is with traits . Eagle eye is a trait that is definitely build defining and should be grandmaster in the MM tree , but it should buff the Shortbow as well.
Quick draw on the other hand is too high up the skirmishing line and it offers no other boons other then CD reduction , perhaps give it a 25% move speed when using a bow buff would be quite a good choice , or merging it with piercing arrows in the MM tree . This would make sense as it would not spread bow traits along two trees and put it in a place that makes sense .
And what is left is the utility skills . The big culprit here is Sig of the BM . It is unacceptable to need a GM trait to use signets . Removal of this would definitely make power builds viable , as you would be able to take 2-3 defensive traits , for example LR , Stone signet and protect me , which would be solid enough combined with stealth and LS block to keep you alive .
it was a BUG . Thats the principle , bugs get fixed . Why some other bugs have not been fixed that is another issue …
