SYG usage is key in zerg combat and given that it can be stripped fairly easily and has a long cooldown, I don’t see that much wrong with how it works now.

Besides, hammer warriors (which I play for the record) already get enough hate for being OP’d; this change would just make them God Mode, even with the upcoming nerf.

It’s hard to let it go when you are one achieve from getting season 1 done and you can’t do it because the only things left to do are keeps, castles and obsidian jumper….things that can’t be achieved when your server can’t even leave spawn.

Just do it right at reset, no one will be camping yet.

Surprisingly enough, I think the PvF will still be generally low even with BG. The last matchup we had with BG/JQ/other server was pretty light if memory serves me right? Then again, this will probably end up as one of those defining moments in the league match ups, so we will probably experience some heavy turbulence

I’m just worried that it’s going to be so close that someone is going to lose their minds every time SoS attacks either side.

This has been said before, but if your server is not in the top 3, just let it go. You are not going to win; but you can go out and wreck face with your group. Flip some towers, troll them with siege, bust some zergs!

You can only deal with the time when you play and that is the end of it. I feel bad for defense-oriented guilds, but you are playing against the development team there; not Omega Golems.

Also, and I’m speaking from experience here, a 20-25 man group can most definitely hold off a 50-60 man blob. It requires a good group comp, people listening on VOIP, and good movement, though, so good luck with pugs.

We had all that. We were holed up in Garrison, keeping them from taking over as long as possible. 3 hours of work, and we finally fell because we couldn’t keep the small team of 3-5 grabbing supply and doing patchwork on the holes in the garrison fast enough. Twas a leaky boat, and she finally sank at the end of those 3 hours. Despite being trebbed at NE, rammed at Watergate, and golemed on east, we survived 3 hours. If that tells you how bad it was.

Last night in EB on Gold League, we had 35-40 guys zerging around and taking keeps, the castle, etc… We ran head long into biggers zergs several times and won and lost. 50-60 player zergs. Just because you have fewer, doesn’t mean you can’t win. We basically took everything we tried to take. The times we lost open field we got taken by surprise, well the commander did, he froze heh.

Wow, someone on JQ doesn’t understand the outnumbered concept. If you’ve been there a while, think about next week against BG if ATM and FOO left….now imagine that 2 out of 3 weeks.

ZDs transferred, SoR lost it’s mind on the forums and their scores tanked in-game. They nearly fell behind SoS in points total and ticked lower than them at several points over the weekend and early week.
Then SoR announced they were suspending forum wars (an obvious side-effect of an internal shouting match) and their PPT rose dramatically and they are back in fighting form.

End of story. Move along, nothing to see here.

This does make a quirky kind of sense. Low tier servers have high quality players just like higher tier, just the number of them and the coverage skews it all.
This would certainly give a lot of swing power to the mid-tier servers as well, especially in prime-time.

I don’t care for fixing the queue though, it’s only a problem in the top 4 on any night other than Friday.

Any kind of mechanism that discourages stacking, or at least an end to updates and changes that reward that kind of behavior would go a long way to fixing things.

Item 1: scrap leagues. It’s pointless to give default rewards to servers in the Silver and Bronze league based upon how the mixture of RNG and fairweather tanking may have placed them.

This could lead to a fascinating experiment in psyche and about the human nature in regards to competitive endeavors with few rewards.

You’d think that NSP are the only ones enjoying themselves in Silver League (maybe YB too).

Server implosions and mass exodii made SBI and FA too big for Silver (will the finisher be worth it, former IoJ, DR, and DH folks?) and WvW sucks more than ever.

Gold league is a blast, as the score doesn’t reflect the realities on the ground. TC and the T1 servers get all their PPT through coverage, and the zerg-busting fights are awesome since the T1 servers have been pretty good sports about things and tend not to overzerg after the weekend.

SoR isn’t playing for PPT since they can’t win
And anyone who says that any large fight involving numbers greater than 75 on all sides does not turn into a “spam 1,1,1,1,” fest are the same people who lied for weeks saying there would be no queues in T1 during the Season.

It’s going to be interesting when the Season ends and you start getting tough matches a majority of the time. 6 weeks straight of karma trains is not going to make the harsh reality awaiting any easier.

Have to agree here, SBI better put their try hard shoes on again or fa will stomp you and so till SoS you may beat mag in coverage but I can promise their EU and NA guilds would wipe the floor with Sbi blood all day with the servers current combat performance. You’re in for another exodus if you all aren’t ready to get hit hard 24/7.

FA will pass Mags quickly to get back into Tier 2. The question is how will FA and SoS matchup now, with both servers looking very different since their last meeting. Also, how will SBI’s alliance hold up when they get into the black pit of Tier 3 where every match is a curbstomp battle (either too easy or too hard).

We’ll see next month.

Maybe the answer is to not care about points anymore. Why don’t we try an unofficial system of achievement and informally keep score on that? It happen all the time in underground fight clubs :-P
I’m on FA and I know what it is like to be stomped by servers with greater population and coverage(BG, TC). I’ve thought about changing servers to a lower ranked one but I don’t have the money to do it and I’m afraid to get stuck on a server I don’t like (I’ve changed servers 4 times since launch and I don’t really want to move anymore)

I think the server that best meets your standards is Sea of Sorrows. With decent coverage in NA, Oceanic, and SEA times (even some EU) we do have at least modest coverage in our less populated hours and some great coverage from NA thru SEA.
The best part is that we have the shortest queues in Gold League (the worst I’ve heard lately is 10 min. on reset night for EB, and most nights no queues)

Question for JQ, what’s with the zerker zergs?

Mags was ragging you last week for this and I thought it was just the normal trashtalk, but we’ve been seeing a lot of JQ folks running with light armor and health this week.

Is it just casuals or a broader experiment?

Next week is going to be insanity to the ’n’th power. Everytime we attack BG or JQ there will be “2v1” cries and accusations of collusion…

I hope everyone realizes next week that no matter how things roll out that there will be no server-wide decisions on focusing one server over another. Especially since no one has attempted to bribe us LOL

I can’t help but wonder about the frightful number of posts this thread would have had, had it been Maguuma in the place of SoS last week back when SoR was losing it’s mind on the forums.
The fact that you are at almost 700 posts just from BG and Mag, it quite astounding.
I’m looking forward to the BG reaction when Maguuma declares victory based on their superior roaming.

I miss try-hard Maguuma from the first week. They might have started the ball rolling on SoR losing their minds.

There was this annoying thing where TC’s PuG zergbwill get on SoSbl, and push North every time JQ puts up orange swords against us.
I know it’s not any respectable guild on TC that does this, but it happened all weekend and it really drives down our ability to respect TC as a whole.

There are some great guilds still there (CERN, PINK, NOPE) but increasingly it seems like TC looks like someone took T1 population and coverage and replaced it all with militia.

How can they hate SoS for history when we lost 4 out of 5 of all our active WvW guilds when we dropped?

Only AGG came back (after being on JQ) and MERC went to their server as well; so it’s kinda pointless.

We still blame JQ for everything that goes wrong (I hear they suggested Toxic content in WvW); but there’s no energy in it anymore.

The problem with that request is that RNG will still be a thing and that Silver league will be chewing up and spitting out a lot of servers over the next few months.

Your best bet as it stands today are Borlis Pass, Ehm Bay, and CD for Silver. I don’t know enough about bronze, though SF and HoD look pretty strong ATM.

The absolute….worst…wipe…ever. Not a single person looked upwards at Briar when we put down the 3 catas.

TC, if you get this; keep pushing on Bay and so will we. We have about an hour and a half before SEA fully comes on and wrecks our lives.

Why are we talking about tier queue servers in the silver league thread?

Because watching SoR implode from the outside is rather interesting.

I’m surprised it wasn’t more BG. BG I would assume would be first as it is built largely on pve (fair weathers) and transfer.

BG is made up of past T1 implosions and a lot of people who are dedicated to staying in that tier. After facing them for the first time in months I can say that it’s actually their strength that they aren’t built around a hub of large guilds but are many smaller guilds.

Also SoR got their act together so no one is going away any time soon.

SoR is fine atm. It’s really annoying that BG can turn all our T3 to nothing AND fortify it during ZDs PvDoor time. Discourages many people from trying anymore.

Can’t tell if trolling (in sig), or doesn’t realize that it’s short for Ehmry Bay because they are from EU…..

I found that a very good way to hold your third of the map is to take SMC and just let the “shiny object” people do the defending while you lock down your third and attack outward.

Pros:
1) Very rarely are matches not decided by Friday
2) It allows all combatants an opportunity to stack some WxP to make sure that everyone will be tougher in the next match
3) PvE achievement hunters are a detriment towards the play of all servers, it’s best to get the what they need to be on their way.

Cons:
1) Some people only know how to karma train and they don’t know any other way to play
2) People bring alts and then have a complete hissy when one of the servers decides to wreck a karma train (see this week’s BG-SoR-SoS thread)
3) It demoralizes those who want to play it straight

SoS hasn’t gotten a break from the top 4 in nearly 2 months now. We want some quality time with SBI and FA.

Oh good it’s Friday. Maguuma can now experience the unfettered joy of BG-SoR hatefest ’13 and can listen to BG guys crying on the forums about interrupting their karma trains (honestly, they really did that).

Other than that, the only interesting part is TC facing EP from the other side of the fight. Let’s try to keep the thread under 100 posts, it’s not like there will be much to talk about (seriously, the three most polite servers in the game, not more than 5 trolls between all three of us)

DB has finally arrested it’s fall. As much as I wish well for CD, I equally hope those that stuck it out on DB take the opportunity to stabilize and start rebuilding.

I’m glad that DIE is going to EBay. You know that GF told them that they were just leaving for a week for some better fights? (in the middle of a TC vs SoS match no less)
