What’d be really sweet would be TC to win this week (starting to look like a lock) and then SoS and Mag 2v1 them to push them to 3rd to allow TC and SoR to still tie, while we get to say we beat the server that beat SoR.
I’m sure I’ll get my license as a certified catherder before we can keep SoS and Mag from going after each other, however.
SoR has gained 2000 points against TC in the last 36 hours. At this current rate they’d need at least an extra day to catch up.
This is certainly a lot interesting to watch than my match (12 people take something, 40 BG retake…repeat)
Nvm I guess, TC just took it up to eleven, ticking high in the middle of the night. The only thing preventing TC from taking 2nd would be a 2v1 from JQ and SoR at this point; even then it would be close.
I’ve missed playing SoR and JQ at the same time.
Sadly I think you’ll find SoR had their spirit crushed out of them and are currently in third place behind TC.
On JQ we figured SoR wouldnt be much of a threat, but how right we were. Its quite sad to see a worthy adversary, go.
Whats worse, is it might mean next week might be quite boring, as SoR wont be as big of a game changer as they once were. Maybe I’m giving SoR too little credit, but the SoR i’m seeing this week, are more interested in PvDing than fighting.
Any resistance usually results in them hopping maps and trying elsewhere. Honestly TC gives up a harder fight.
Finally, some smack being talked to break up OPP’s PDAs.
Next week will be fun for everyone. TC will be stoked, yet exhausted; and both SoS and Mags will love to have TC’s squishies on hand so we can do some great zerg busting.
We’ll just have some thieves stalk CERN’s mega-zerg all week long and just run around it; and make TC pull out their hair in frustration; maybe even get the score pretty close.

I have to ask, where did all this from YB come from? Those daytime numbers are beastly!
Also LOL at the people saying FA getting 3rd next week. I’m far from a FA fanboy (really, I rip on them all the time) but I can’t see them losing to SBI at this point let alone DB.
It’s like trolling the jump puzzle, it gets boring real quick. The OS will be straightened out in a little while.
The numbers will be so few that anyone who jumps in will be murdered by the participants and spectators alike.
Or, instead of scrapping the week, we could think our way to maximizing our profit potential. I say sure, have a fun ppt style reset. Then let the karma trains begin!
I’m certain many still have outstanding achievements to acquire. Any hardcore scouts/escorts/builders have put in plenty of hours with little reward or achievements finished for their efforts. Let’s reward their diligence after so many weeks of enduring this season.
Except that BG doesn’t go in for that kind of thing and SoR will be dying to make up for this weeks’ humiliation. I think JQ better be ready for a big scrap.
I really do not understand the opposition to this idea from the Dev Team. It pigeonholes people into one character, which doesn’t even help their bottom line.
I know some people who are alt-crazy, and they have bought unlimited use resource tools for 8+ characters.
Not to mention that some special skins look better on some classes than others…. they are really pressing for something that doesn’t have to be.
Of course I think they are missing the chance to for a WXP reset use item that they can charge buckoo gems for too. Not that I’m a fan of monetizing the game, but I think they should look into that since it’s a non-necessary item (I personally find Fine Transmutation stones to be more necessary IMHO).
You can get an 80 person blob on DR these days?
It’s my understanding that everyone is going to get some sort of consolation prize. Hopefully it’s a ballot we can cast to vote if there will be a season two.
People are going to be watching SBI very closely the next couple of weeks. If there is a significant drop in performance against DB people are going to write SBI off and possibly some of the folks currently there.
The big sign will be guilds doing a lot of farming.
SoS is a great server, but some people don’t like the lack of structure, as we are very “play your way” in that we encourage every guild to play however they want.
Outside of Friday nights where we try to avoid stacking up too much on the same bl’s, every guild is free to play wherever they want, and no one gives people crap about PPT.
We’re zergier than Maguuma, but we share their love of open-field fights.
Compare to FA that is hardcore into PPT and will always focus the weaker of the two opponents they face (at least pre-season they did).
BG will lose ZDs most likely so things in T1 will balance. SoR has been downgraded from Implosion Warning to Implosion Watch due to TW reforming and DIE returning.
SBI is also on Implosion Watch due to them underperforming during the Season. When they get dragged into higher tier battles, people do not expect them to take the punishment well since the bulk of their forces are T5-T6 ex-pats. Their limited T3 experience consists of losing to more legit T3 foes YB and FA. The best thing they got going for them is that their rise destroyed most of the servers they could have transferred too.
Currently predicting HoD as the next bandwagon to crash and burn.
Surprised Magrubma was able to keep the score so close to SoS’s.
such wow
“such wow”? “Much GvG” “So Roaming” There is a doge here!
Actually if you have followed previous matchups between SoS and Maguuma, the battle is always close but Maguuma typically loses due to an aversion to playing for PPT and pushing hard over the weekends.
It’s small by the standards of the top 4, but Maguuma has a really good early NA/EU presence that’s tough for anyone else to contain. They do 70% of their PPT from 10am to 5pm server time.
8 vs 25 why do I keep coming back.
I love the punishment too much.
Bg can confirm this was even numbers.
It’s SoS in the picture. Magswag, eh?
Ticking over 500 isn’t enough, you need to steal credit for our kills now too?
Ummmmmm what?
Score Update too!
But… what on earth?! Why it so mean!? cries
I was looking at it as well. Not sure what it is. Must be some Asuran invention.
The successor to bloodlust: If you hold the spot for 15 minutes, an Aetherblade airship will descend and attack Hills or reinforce it if you hold it.
#BreakingMyGameMode
Only a handful of servers were really far out of position in NA. NS and Maguuma ended going up a league due to sandbagging (intentional or not), but both have had a great attitude about it.
The only servers that are in poor shape to be in their own tier are Dragonbrand and SoR(not that they belong in Tier 2).
Wednesday afternoon and Maguuma hasn’t declared victory yet. Maybe they’re waiting to see if they can pass SoS so they can claim some sort of victory that is measurable unlike “Our roamers are better so we are technically the winners this week”.
Props to folks on Maguuma who actually show up to fight (INC, VR, Pyro, Ark, etc).
First off, it is Tuesday, let’s not get ahead of ourselves buckaroo.
Second, Mag showed what they could do yesterday, they flipped BG’s BL and kicked the kitten out of us for the better part of NA, and reclaimed the PPT lead for second place right before NA / OCX switch.
I am not sure why you feel the need to be so antagonistic, I’ve always enjoyed fighting Mag, and I can’t wait for the match-up next week and further match-ups with Mag, FA and YB.
They give as much crap as they take. As I said in my post, there is a difference between the awesome people on Mags who bring the pain; and those who wait to lawyer the match after the fact.
My snark is aimed at the latter.
@robocafaz; I won’t name any names, but there are some known guild names from Mag that I have only seen running away during this match.
(edited by Chris.3290)
FA will probably beat Mag since they are so over the “tryhard mode” they had when they beat you last.
SoS has gotten a lot stronger and FA hasn’t had the chops to take out TC in a long time.
You will do well, but you aren’t ready for T1 levels of punishment; but I’m sure you’ll get your chance before too long.
Good to see rumors of TW going away were exaggerated.
Also TC, we’re all a little dissappointed. SoR gained almost 300 points on you today. You can go do Fractals next week; please see this week through!

Edit: someone had to ruin my day and remind me it’s not Wednesday. Cruel…just cruel.

If you dont like it, gtfo.. please.. is that better?
^^ made me lol @ work. I want this guy on my team. I know this guy will toss the grenade first and ask questions later.
~X [STUN]
BG blamed some of their worst moments of the last 9 months solely upon his absence; so it’s safe to say everyone wants him on their team LOL
Can we have a dialogue about the inclusion of PvE Living World content into WvW. I haven’t heard much positive about this; but a great number of people are concerned that a steady “content creep” may ultimately subvert the whole objective of WvW from team based PvP to a multi-server Vs. PvE environment.
Let me add that I have no problem with the latter, but not if it takes the place of the WvW format.
Oh please no! Not more crap.
Seriously, WvW Devs please convey to the Living World team that we enjoy their content in the context of areas that their content belongs in. Please stop RAMMING PvE content down the throats of WvW players who will not appreciate their well-written story lines when they are so out of context and provide a major annoyance.
FA(Pre-season): we’re not tanking, we’re just tired from facing so much T1.
FA(During Season): Oh yeah, I can’t wait to face T1!
FA(Post-Season):????
List of guilds and reasons:
AGG: Made GvG mainstream
Choo: on SoR from start, classy and tough
NS: aggressive, engaging, and often humble
AoI/OnS: The backbone of SoS’s and BG’s reigns at the top
HzH: JQ mainstay since the beginning. Very mature
Ark: they define Maguuma with their small but hard hitting group (unfortunately in PvF as well)
Red Guard: Defined the meta
WM: Was the first guild to show what a dedicated non-prime presence could do for an entire server
Plenty others on this list that I would include (leaving out some SoS folks because it’s unfair to list that much awesome in one list…and it would seem like propaganda too LOL)
\
I vote at this time that we discuss Commander functionality next as it also impacts PVE. This topic however would be discussed in the WvW forums.
Chris
First off, thanks for the increased level of engagement, even with those of us who are not entirely cordial
Second, I have no idea how much the way of work hours changes to the commander UI will take; but even relatively minor changes (being able to change the color of the icon or even a really rudimentary squad UI) will be a very welcome change to WvW.
Lastly, though we might not like what’s said; sometimes it’s best to start with a list of what is “off the table” in order to prevent speculation or needless conversation about an idea that’s a non-starter. Even if it’s “off the table for now and might be brought up later” it’s best to rip that band aid off quickly before people start beating dead horses in non-constructive ways.
Thank you and ANet for the great work you have done and will (hopefully) continue to accomplish.
I have never understood all the hate against SBI, please explain.
The hate is relatively recent. We used to be a respectful and respected server. But we got some troll transfers, which encouraged the few native trolls that were already there and you have the current SBI.
I have to say I’d rather have the old SBI back. Even though we lost to BP every time – it was BP who were the jerks – and we hated them, not necessarily for beating us but for being jerks about it. We have turned into the BP that we used to hate.
If you look back in past match threads you will see why other servers hate us. The trolling – and not just lighthearted trolling but being jerks trolling. The emote spamming. Chestthumping. The going to other servers and spying (I don’t know that it is actual SBI people but I can believe it knowing the few jerks that we have on our server).
Now I know every server has trolls and jerks. But when they get big enough so that they drown out the good people on the server then you start getting the hate. As mentioned by others, we even have people who troll us. Unfortunately you can’t kick people off your server.
I am glad to hear that most recognize it is not the mainstay of SBI who are doing this and that we don’t condone it as a server or the leadership. In fact, I’d bet that if we could we’d go out of our way to repair any spying or sabotaging that was done.
I just hope they don’t drag down the rest of us. Everyone of good character just keep up the good fight and have fun.
Though we sometimes forget to differentiate, most people recognize the difference between SBI’s “old-timers” and those who transferred there in hopes of an easy Silver League victory.
That being said a lot of people are also cheering YB because it’s such a change to see them moving out beyond the cover of arrow carts and moving offensively.
Originally no one in T2 was looking forward to seeing them again, but if this is their new swagger, then it should be fun.
[DIE] will be returning to SoR. We will be farming t1 forum tears and lootbags soon. Please direct all questions to our narketing and pr department.
We appreciate your time.
I can just see how this conversation went when they got on EhmBay:
[DIE]: Wow, what a great start to the match over the weekend! If we can keep this up we can beat SBI!
[EhmBay(in general)]: Yeah, great weekend. We’ll see you guys again on Friday.
[DIE]: ….what?
200 Gold spent on something anyone who’s ever faced them could have explained.

This is going to sound like trolling (it isn’t) but is a genuine thought.
If a T1 server can so manipulate the score to allow a T2 server to beat another T1 server, is the server (being 2v1’d) really a top server anymore?I’ll make it simple for you, at this stage SOR is a T2 server, there you happy?
First; no, gives me no particular joy. I said before I wanted SoR to lose, not to disband.
Second; has the population changed that much? SoR should still be bigger than they were when they entered T1 and I would like to think that the decisions of SoR “high council” (or whatever they were calling it) were so convoluted that a shake up might help your community more in the long run (take BG’s lack of centralized command).
You’ve lost your trashtalkers, still have awesome NA, and decent Oceanic and SEA (has to be better than TC’s); I would say that SoR can only go up from here.
Bloody PVE’rs just want to karma train everything! APs were the worst addition to wvw.
I agree achieves have no place in WvW. I am however incredibly lucky that they got in this time. I never did any WvW before the season and it is now all I want to do. I will be here fighting when the season is over, on teamspeak, running builds as needed and sticking to the commanders tag like glue or roaming with havoc.
So in my opinion, the positive outcome is that there is a influx of new WvWers for after the season. But yes achieves in WvW are sooo bad, if there are anymore they need to be done in like 5 minutes so the queues can unclog again.
I disagree on the achievements. For the less populated servers, it’s an opportunity to get new players in. Just the other day another new person was publicly stating they were new and needed help. I believe it was EP that immediately took them under their wing. I think it is only an inconvenience to a server just about full with wvw guild transfers and is an annoyance to them. But us lower servers don’t mind.
Ques are not the problem, it is PVE’rs coming in wvw to karma train for APs. Population isn’t an issue.
We flushed out all our PvE’rs during the 2 weeks of JQ love we got. We are getting a lot of casuals into the game and now we just need to get them up to speed. That and get them to roll something other than rangers (SoSBl is covered in bear droppings) and things will be fun for a good while to come.
I don’t see swiftness being that much of a problem, especially while in combat.
The biggest change needs to be in rally mechanics.
apparently this guy has never ran into hackers, or a thief. or gotten out the middle of his zerg blob. or ran anything other than a warrior or guardian bunker build.
The topic is about busting zergs, take your roamer talk to a different thread.
This is going to sound like trolling (it isn’t) but is a genuine thought.
If a T1 server can so manipulate the score to allow a T2 server to beat another T1 server, is the server (being 2v1’d) really a top server anymore?
I’ve never seen that scenario pulled off. I’ve also never seen two servers of a lower tier 2v1 to bring the higher tier down but that’s just because people suck.
Being on SoR, I have seen less and less of the normal groups of people that I see in wvw on a nightly bases. If we keep on course we will be 4th in the league and a solid teir 2 server. Now if we hang in tier 2 depends on how we get hit by fair weather transfers to and from SoR. My gut tells me JQ and BG are going to see a large influx of players thou.
meh o well at least I don’t have to sit in que.
I’m hoping that it actually might encourage some destacking from BG and JQ; but as time has shown it usually takes a series of negative events to encourage a destack.
Some BG/JQ transfer love to SoS and FA would create 6 fairly balanced servers at the top and could keep WvW viable, competitive, and fun for a while.Especially since the alternative now in beta sounds like a complete bust; it’s more important than ever that this game mode remains fun for people.
Lol you think this is a voluntary destack? They have got back to recruiting guilds.
No, I said I would like a voluntary destack from BG and JQ. SoR has killed their image in the forums and their play during the season. I find it interesting that the two responsible parties were the first to go.
If we could get the top 6 to around TC levels it would be fun; but as I said, history is against me on that one.
Besides, SoR hasn’t quite slid into T2 yet, but are in danger of going T1.5.
YB’s been ahead all day and probably into NA. No matter how much SEA they have it looks like YB is going to snatch 2nd out of SBI’s hands.
SBI is going to come in 3rd behind YB now; they are probably getting ready to transfer off already.
FA is going to be fun in the post-season now that they got a fresh IoJ infusion (2nd time now). Too bad it’s going to be very rare to get a FA-Mag-SoS match in the future (TC would have to roll down and face SBI and YB; not very sporting or likely).
I completely understand what our friends from Maguuma are saying though. As mind-numbing as it is to see yet ANOTHER massive T1 blob come over the hill towards us; it’s got to be a lot more fun than facing near empty servers like NS and IoJ. The last time SoS had a +600ppt against a server was IoJ-HoD(post implosion) over a year ago; and if I wasn’t still working on map completion I wouldn’t have had a thing to do.
People were trying to keep people fired up but you can’t keep the drive up because a thief might have stealthed and got out of spawn on EB.
You have it 180 degrees wrong. The only server that has anything to lose by week 7 is SBI. If the season ends on Friday, SBI would tie for 2nd. Week 7 will see YB pass them in score if YB wins this week (as they are on track to do); pushing SBI to 3rd.
All those people will have to look in the mirror and wonder if it was worth emptying DH and DR to fill their rosters, and demoralizing IoJ to the point where they moved to FA and YB, creating their own downfall.
It’s very Greek tragedy, and very much a reason we SHOULD have a week 7.
I’ll say something nice about every server that I know something about (sorry, don’t know the Bronze League guys well)
JQ = More time in T1 than anyone, obviously they are doing something right
BG = A very diverse server that always surprises.
SoR = Clawed it’s way up from the nosebleed seats. Underestimated for a long time before they hit T1. NA is always a rout.
TC = Polite to a fault, keeps the temples open for everyone
SoS = (n/a my server)
Mag = actually backs up their trash talk. They love a good fight and never take the easy way out.
FA = Very stable, was the best beta server IMHO.
SBI = Rides the unstable waves of fortune with class. Mad respect for long-time members.
DB = Mad props for those that are riding out the rough times. Beastly SEA presence.
YB = If they get Hills you better just forget capping it for the week.
EB = They hit like a tank in open field. Don’t let their ranking fool you, they will chew up and spit out a PuG zerg in seconds.
BP = Tenacious to an extreme. Whether it’s 4 people or 40 on a map, they are pushing hard 24 hours a day.
CD = Grew out of the “Friday Night” diva phase and will get you if you blink. Very crafty and unpredictable.
(Everyone else I either haven’t faced, or haven’t faced since they underwent some ginormous changes in their population.)
I’ve been told that SoS has no public form of VOIP. I’m not even sure how this is possible.
No, we have a server-wide TS that everyone is welcome to use. Some guilds prefer not to use it when they raid (AGG, EP) but it’s open to everyone on Sea of Sorrows who wants to use it.
I think the real questions are:
-Will SoR step up this week?
-Will TC take pity on SoR and allow them to tie?Personally I hope SoR steps up, and TC plays hard, let’s see what happens!
It does make me sad that we cant come out ahead of SoR and still tie
I predict the last few days being an exciting come back!
Don’t worry, SoS can hash things out with Mags and can grant your wish next week. Just take care of this week and we’ll do the rest
We really just need to get JQ and BG to destack a bit if SoR is indeed transitioning to a Tier 2 server (I think it’s just crappy morale and a few bad weeks; they’ll be good when they can go back to kingmaking in pure T1 matches).
I hope if this season proved anything to those who never left Tier 1 that the level of play is just as good on Tier 2 servers, we just don’t have the numbers and pure WvW guilds.
(Note: I’m one of those who think 6 top servers who can compete more or less on equal terms is a great idea and hope that as population dwindles in this game that we can engineer this for the good of the game and for the quality of the matches.)
Because every fight against Blackgate/JQ/SoR is essentially a 5to1 fight ( and that’s in good conditions) and also because they PvD everything while people are working ( FACT : 100 man just pushed into our garri to retake it against….. 12 ish roamer. At noon eastern on a monday. repeat every day), that means we start from a “paper position” every day.
Pffff Blackgate. Anyone can feel invincible in pvt with +4man dps helping against whatever. It’s not like there’s any effort or skill required. Just cruise control to victory.
The maguuma way involves becoming tougher and harder to survive against more and more ridiculous odds. No cruise control here. The reason our roamers are strong is that they get it done ALONE. That’s why we got that swag.
In fact, i’m quite confident in saying that most BG players wouldn’t be able to handle Maguuma-style difficulty. Because they are not tough enough.
Our objective this week is the number 2 spot. If blackgate will stop playing favorites ( by capping only mag stuff during the day and keeping the points rolling for sos) then perhaps we’ll get it done.
Any way you cut it, the “season” and the “rankings” are a joke. 3 weeks into the season we got word that SOME silver league servers (who shall remain nameless) deliberatly tanked themselves to silver league because they were too weak to try the real deal. and because….. they were scared the rewards for “bottom gold” was not gonna be good enough for them. Ask the silver league guys about it sometimes…
You say BG can’t hack being in your shoes, then you ask them to get out of the way so you can use your better EU coverage to beat SoS….
I’m all for that if they step out of our way and let our nighttime go after you….
#MaguumaLogic; #PlayingForSecond
map chat will never be as fast or as concise as VoiP. Not to mention that between all the chatter and “skill recharging” messages that the commander might entirely miss important scouting info.
There is a huge difference between scouting info given over VoiP, and the often confused messages typed out.
Plus the lag while typing forces the scout to be immobile while trying to type a response.
Wow, the plane does a flyby of the tower but doesn’t land on the runway with you folks.
First off, it’s the BG-SoS-Mag matchup.
Second, he’s not complaining about the time difference. SoS is one of the servers that benefit the most in relation to it’s population so we love our Aussies.
He’s talking about the fact that the two other servers are so overwhelmed that the #1 server forces a literal draw between the two servers and we can’t get good 3-way fights since there the zergs on BG can be massive at times.
It’s not complaining but pointing out that there is no sense in having another season when a server can queue up maps 24/7 when the other servers in the matchup are lucky to queue up any maps.
I see some dishonorable actions at times. 3 servers of wildly disparate coverage and populations get matched up and the #2 focuses on #3 exclusively can be seen as somewhat dishonorable and even cravenly.
A server with a “community warchest” offering to pay for transfers of a guild that has NOT expressed interest in moving is also mildly dishonorable.
Other than exploiting or hacking there is little that an individual can do to be dishonorable.
I don’t see swiftness being that much of a problem, especially while in combat.
The biggest change needs to be in rally mechanics.
Being on SoR, I have seen less and less of the normal groups of people that I see in wvw on a nightly bases. If we keep on course we will be 4th in the league and a solid teir 2 server. What happened to EP? They are now runnign 30-40, still can be wiped pretty easily as I saw tonight on EBG, and have to depend on the other SoS zerg with FANG in it to wipe hahaha. Why not just run 15-20, that’s what you run away with after losing 15 players.
Ahh, someone did someone end up in a EP/Fang sandwich? We’ll put a little band-aid on your boo-boo and you can go back out to play.
For the record, I didn’t see EP wipe and they were beastmode all night long.
Were you INC? We figured you guys ragequit or something when you suddenly vanished. Mag lost their backbone then and it was a bloodbath farm.
No, worse. EP ran away fast, and every time we killed the fang un-skilled blob they didn’t give near as many bags as I wanted. Are you upset because you had to respawn too many times tonight?
Why would I be upset, I got an exotic off of one of you guys when we wiped you. (I wouldn’t brag about getting wiped by an “unskilled blob” if I was you).
I have to admit, INC was the only Mag group putting up a fight and it was fun. Plus the few times it went badly there’s no shame; like losing to AZN or something.
So are things are as bad as they look for SoR (TW disbanded, IRON left, behind TC in score), or is this just blatant 2v1 when they are having a bad week?
TW didn’t disband. Lost some members and are not playing every night like they used to. Tbh I couldn’t care less about being behind TC. We went months and months being outmanned during ocx/sea/eu. It’s nothing new.
I just hope finally the T1 servers stop with the “arms race” and try to even out the other Tiers before season 2 starts.
Maybe it’s just bad wording, but you are talking like a T2 server there.
TC is weaker than they’ve been in months, SoR must be looking a lot different these days if they can’t catch up.
