If your a server that wants to focus on ppt, then ou need to find people who are willing to trait defensively and will forgo the karma trains. 4/5 AC, 5/5 cannon, 3/5 treb, and mortar mastery on just ~4 people can make most keeps impregnable to all but large golem rushes.
At that point you have to ask why no one was taking camps and keeping them drained.

Well I had to log in way late to reset and leave after about 4 hours, but thank you SoS and FA. I know that early on that 2v1 was brutal from what I heard but man, I take over while its still going and you guys get farmed.. then you all logged off or hopped maps after like 3 consecutive losses. What is up with that….. I was hoping for good fights but all I got was KITTENRY!

I started leading eb around 9pm when we were getting 2v1ed by FA on durious and you guys on QL and you lost everything but your eb keep & aldons by 10:30pm all because your guys couldn’t get inside towers and man siege before we get to door. TC are excellent siege manners! best I have siege. I wish we had militia that manned siege as good as TC. But then I had to leave (wife aggro). I really wasn’t looking forward to the 70 man blob aoeing choke on TC keep and wping in again and again. Still it was funny and I find it hilarious that people complain about 2v1. kitten happens SoS gets targeted all the time cuz we have the weakest coverage of 3 servers but meh. playing for ppt is so 2012…

@ TC on SOS border on reset. Stop hugging hills/set with 2-3 trebs and 5-6 acs. There was a ac along the wall on hills every spot and 3-4 scouts in hills at all times. TC wins because you play ppt and have trained your militia that it’s fun to sit on stuff and press 1,2,3. TC also wins cuz FA will go for ez ppt on SOS instead of pushing TC border at all times but eh. Once I realized that sos wasn’t going to get fights on sos border I moved the 30-40 we had to EB and started running around…

It was around 10:30pm server or so when I took over and what you describe wasn’t the case we wiped SOS a few times near Golanta, Jerrifer’s, and LLK. Only FA re-took our outer towers but once y’all left for the last time we took the outer’s back and FA then lost their t3 Anzalias and t3 Mendons, I think you guys pushed ogre/pang after they went durios or maybe it happened in the reverse. As far as sieging we just played for fights til 2am server. We had some people tap smc, do upgrades, and hold our camps but we went on the hunt for 4 hours so I’m not sure about your tower-siege story. And yeah I don’t remember fighting you except maybe once I believe the SOS commander was Reese from EP.

The 3 way match was designed so that 2v1 would always happen against the stronger server.

Your touching tribute to YB not withstanding, we decided that if you were going to sit on AC’s all night, that you should at least do it as part of an epic defense.

Hence the 2v1 on Lowlands and flipping your upgraded towers.

What happened to TC tonight, anyways? It’s like the last 8 weeks didn’t happen and you forgot how to fight without being surgically grafted onto siege? The bags runneth over.

I wasn’t on at the beginning, but I think we were running a bit disorganized. By the time we consolidated properly, we were already pushed pretty hard. Although the AC bit is ironic, considering SoS and FA built ACs everywhere, including the three like right in front of Klovan and on the Jerrifer bridge.

For most of the keep fights, we didn’t have any acs or maybe only had one. We didn’t even have enough supply to build a treb for like 90 minutes because whenever we’d leave the keep to fight one group and take a camp, the other would try to rush in to cap, so we really didn’t have the option of leaving. And if we tried to send a havoc group to grab supply, they’d just get blobbed down.

Side note: I dunno what’s up with TC in general. We actually didn’t have queues in 2/4 maps this reset.

You obviously missed the beginning. Lowlands was very sieged up and that only changed once SoS got inside after FA had weakened the gate. The only thing that saved it was getting the WP literally as the attack started.

A combination and understanding of which method to play at any given time is what creates wins. That said, good fights FA and SoS. I really don’t mean this to sound passively aggressive but I don’t know of another way to say it so I’ll just say it; Don’t lose heart so easily. I think most core TC players can tell when your groups have just given up mentally. You can beat us. Keep trying and keep growing.

You ever have that coworker or fellow student who gets on your nerves and you can’t stand seeing them everyday.

Devon is on NS, Izzy is on SBI, and I forget who it was on BG but he’s the only one I’ve seen roll with a zerg. They have an understanding that he’s there as bait for people who want to claim they took out a dev, and the rest reap the easy kills from the myopic fools.

There seemed to be high expectations, nurtured from weeks of Silver League, that got dashed on FA; but they should’ve known better.

This match is going to be a regular thing for awhile, with SoR having only a 1 in 20 chance of rolling down; it’ll be TC-SoS-(probably FA) for a good long while.

YB might pop in once in a while which should be fun. I’m hoping for a crack at SBI before they quickly shuffle off to the dustbin.

Maguuma is Maguuma. If they are close they’ll push kitten Monday-Wednesday and call it done.

I’m just surprised that YB could do so well. I don’t know about stomps, but I know I saw hellaciously high PPT the last 36 hours.

I really have no interest in small group action. I play WvW, not Tpvp…I use siege, fight from battlements, use cannon on infantry, retreat to the safety of the keep if necessary and fight in the zerg. I carry supply and build siege in field to give our zerg an advantage over an enemy group…large or small.

We’ll use the full force of the zerg on “any” quantity of enemy players. Simply because you are in the way as we proceed to the next objective.

Our numbers are legion….the TC Militia really doesn’t give a fat rats kitten about small groups. Except to make them dead.

Actually I thought it was very well said. As someone who likes open-field fights, people like Raf are the people who will allow us to do zergbusting all night long. It beats stacking swiftness because FA is trying to ninja a tower…again.

Give me 2-3 guys in every tower and keep with full AC and cannon mastery (and 3 pts. in treb). That’s how YB does it, and I wish we had more militia who were willing to do this.

Sadly, though kinda awesome at the same time, WvW on SoS is really popular with people who like to mix it up in open field fights. Plays heck on our PPT, but it makes things more fun.

What changed on YB that you guys are ticking +400 during the day?
We understand that SBI is out to lunch, morale-wise; but Mags is a different matter.

Actually a few hours ago we had all of I think 10 people on TCBL….. No doubt we’re seen vastly outnumbered in some timezones. We might have players 24/7 but that dosent mean we have this “24/7 coverage” that you make it sound like we do. Our strongest timezone is early NA-late NA. Despite when we have highest ppt, is only caused by lack of others coverage in this zone. Someone from SoR once said that PPT is a sign of coverage, not courage.

You’ve ticked the highest during the day NA about all week long, and if you only have 10 in TCBL then you have a lot more in other maps. SoS fields more than that in one guild at this time; so I respectfully call BS.
Both FA and SoS have token EU guilds + odd hours folks; yet you still tick pretty high against us so it’s safe to say that you don’t really have a true gap.
Your worst time(s) are OCX and SEA; but even then you do far better than any T3 can at those times.

Weak in T2 does not equal weak over all. For all of how TC is diminished, you were able to beat SoR in your current shape.

Like I said, the results weren’t very surprising given the trends of the last few months (pre-season and during).

Most Ebay players transferred to YB. It’s also the reason why EBay lost to BP this week

Some of those Ebay commanders would fit right in on Yak’s, they know how to siege up a keep.

FYI they reduced the variation on the RNG; which means we’ll be facing each other over 50% of the time. The odds on us seeing a T1 come down are very slim (SoR would essentially have to give up for us to see them more, and there is 0% chance of JQ or BG.)

I think they should just get rid of charging for transfers completely. I think they’d make a lot more money if they just introduced piles of new skins and other goodies that would beef up the WvW experience itself.

Let people transfer as much as they want, where they want until they find the server they feel the most comfortable with.

That wouldn’t help things as the populations would swing with every match so wildly that no one would know who they are playing with, let alone against.

I’m all for reducing costs for lower tiered servers and beginning to base it on tier instead of total population.

There will still be problems, but it’s a step.

If you are looking for the most balanced situation, Tier 2 is becoming very balanced. With TC and FA the battles are intense but well balanced. As SoS continues to grow in NA (we’re really on an upswing), we increasingly are reaching the point where matches will continue to be close and active throughout the week.

The other options in the potential range your interested in are showing signs of instability. DB, SBI, and CD are all in transitional periods where they are shaking out the changes of the season.

An additional bit of encouragement. Many of our recent transfers have seen their numbers grow greatly. As every guild’s style of play is a little different, we have a lot of people who got interested in WvW for the season and are looking for WvW guilds to make a home. Most guilds have seen a boom in membership over the last few weeks and if you have any interested in increasing your membership, you will find fertile ground here.

What about a way to positively link PVE and WvW performance?

What if there was a statue to each god in the keeps (and maybe towers) of WvW. If when the temple in PVE was PACT controlled, touching the statue would confer a boon whose intensity or duration was scaled to the influence of the server in the current WvW match? And that same boon was available in the PVE versions of the statues.

But don’t touch them when the temples are not PACT owned, and the statues have a dark brooding presence.

It sounds like a good idea in theory (let the PvE community contribute towards WvW, as the server enjoys the bonuses WvW grants them); but in practice this is just going to heap more benes onto BG and TC LOL.

This matchup has taught me that if mag would have rolled silver league I probably would have transferred or left the game. Yak’s won’t fight open field and you have to breach a Garrison before you get a rez rush of terrible players. SBI just turns tail and runs from a 20 v 50. Here’s hoping Mag doesn’t downroll next week.

Maguuma isn’t any worse than FA.
Oh, they are better in the open field (count number of good FA open field groups on one hand) but FA invites itself to every tower and keep breach on the map and only fights when they have a numbers advantage.

It takes time to build a server up so that it has 24/7 coverage. TC lost some people before the season so they are rebuilding, just as SoS and FA are rebuilding as well.

I encourage anyone to take the time to build a community vs transferring over just because = winning.

Transferring should be reserved for a true mismatch with your server on some level. Either you or your guild are not getting quality play. It sounds like you are happy with your timezone’s action. You can’t worry about overall scores and times when you are not on so much. Especially since TC tends to have advantages in that regard compared to most of their opponents.

Blackgate was in the position that TC is in now for over 5 months. They took the lumps in order to be where they are now.

Last food for thought, if it gets to the point where WvW is only on a handful of servers; why should ANet put any resources into improving it?

That’s when your achievement hunters went away. This is the start of the second cleansing; where you will find you lose a majority of your matches against servers with similar coverage.
For example, IoJ. IoJ was in decent position, it just wasn’t as good as SBI. They imploded because they weren’t slotted for extreme growth like they thought.

SBI will lose it’s enthusiasm and will have to go about the real business of building a successful WvW server. That takes time and effort. The other T2-T3 servers have spent months building their cores and integrating their casuals. Maguuma has great open field groups, YB has the best defense in the game. SoS has some of the deadliest guilds in NA plus massive numbers of ornery Aussies, and FA is a 24hr threat that will backstab and slit your throat if you blink (not my favorite people right now). TC built up from a T3 server slowly over a year. Their coverage rivals T1 servers at times.

Your transfers got you here, now they have to decide if they want to stay and keep you here.

Correction, your coverage in people is still T1.5 or better. Your guild coverage is below average for T2.
TC racks up large daytime numbers for a server that has no advertised EU guilds and that remains your advantage.

Actually, if you look at ratings; 75% or more of our matches will be in this vein. Occasionally SoR will drop down or BP will pop-up since they under-perform/over-perform in their respective tiers.
It’s still possible that we could roll very low and T2 vs T4 or T3 vs T5; but those should be increasingly rare as the T2-T3 servers increasingly show balance. There is less than 240 pts separating SBI from TC. That increases the likelihood of the matchups in this group many times over.

I think we might have a good long stretch as long as no one screws it up (large OCX/SEA to Maguuma, large EU to SoS, etc) and unbalances things too much.

If winning is your #1 criteria; go BG.

If you want a lot of people in your prime time (during the NZ day and evening) you’d like SoS.

Any of the top 6 (FA replacing Mag) would have people for you and quality play.
I suggest looking for a guild on your new server before transferring. The top tiers in NA servers are unkind to solo PuGs (having a supportive group is key to a positive experience).

Sea of Sorrows is in high need for a EST guild, EU guild or commanders during that timezone.

We have plenty of people on at this time but few commanders. If you are an experienced commander who wants to make a difference, we could really use you and a few others to help us rally folks in this timeframe.

It’s just endure pain with healing. Mass Necro fields remain a great way to counter this; plus if they aren’t running healing signet they don’t have that constant regen like they usually have.

Not to mention nothing in between recharges. Unless they are running Endure Pain and Defy Pain trait.

I haven’t feared direct damage as a warrior for a long time now (laugh off 90% of thieves), but it’s condition + direct damage that takes me down the most. (mesmers with a good mix will beat me more than any other type.

I think it’s going to be as it is now: TC, FA, SoS. Hopefully it stays close and competitive until the very end. TC was in trouble until yesterday morning and SoS was surging until early NA yesterday.
I think it’s safe to say that if any server decides that Wintersday is more interesting that things will shake up.

The Top server rivalries as of right now:
1. BG vs. SoR: They’ve been facing each other for almost a year straight. BG has had the upper hand more often than not; but SoR has remained in the fight until now.

2. TC vs FA: FA had the upper-hand at first then TC had a surge and became T1.5 and dominated FA for months. Now TC has lost a lot of it’s organization and FA got a 2nd infusion from IoJ. TC still has the staying power but FA can keep it close and possibly win if TC blinks.

3. SoS vs SBI: SoS has repeatedly rained on SBI’s parade. Destroying them and leading to their fall from T1, and later “breaking their fall” on SBI in T4. SBI is still looking strong after their huge recruitment surge, but no one knows how they’ll hold up against their long time nemesis until they meet again.

4. BP vs EB: These servers are mirror twins locked in combat. EB dominated for a 3 month stretch based upon their superior NA. Now BP has an advantage in their more diverse coverage; but with T4 in so much flux it’s impossible to know if it will stay that way.

The 1 week at launch when they were T1 material, or the current one?

There were winners and losers during, and leading upto the Season. BG, SoS, FA, Mag, SBI, YB, and AR were definitely winners. They got transfers from other servers and are on a upswing (don’t know for sure about AR, but they are out of the nosebleed seats).

SoR, DB, IoJ and Kain took a massive hit. Likewise TC is a shadow of it’s former self and is going on momentum and daytime coverage.

So I wouldn’t have called this a success. I would go as far as to say that it’s a mistake to see things as balanced outside of the T2,T3, and T4 zones.

If you are looking for good OCX/SEA coverage beneath T1 + a good place to build your legacy, SoS is what you are looking for. Diverse with many cultures and playstyles, you’ll find plenty of people who will support your guild’s objectives (GvG, PPT, open field, defensive).
