If a battle where your individual contributions matter more, then stay away from the top tiers.

Might I suggest that you give Sea of Sorrows thorough consideration.
1. We have an excellent community that works great together. You will have the support of all our guilds if you want to work together in WvW or PvE activities (guild missions, events, etc)

2. As a former T1 server that had a mass exodus, we are incredibly stable. You won’t have a repeat of KN with a flash in the pan or everyone leaving because a single popular guild packs up.

3. We are the official Oceanic server so we can keep our keeps and towers upgraded all week long due to our great coverage.

4. A NA guild would make an impact. We have a great, yet small NA WvW population that is only lacking numbers for us to be a huge force to be reckoned with in the T2/T3 range of servers.

I have to withdraw my comment about KWBH’s discipline, as they had a great performance yesterday in WvW. All due respect to NAGA (before they left) and LOM, that was the best showing by any single CD guild I’ve seen since we came to T4.

ArenaNet, if you want to kill off WvW; just do so. Don’t do something like this and blame lack of interest later.

Any system where you have the #1 server playing the #8 server; is not good…for anyone.

That’s clear to anyone who isn’t suffering from a near-fatal brain injury. I know that now that marijuana is legal in our state that some people might be tempted; but try running these ideas by people not in a smoke filled room and gauge their response.

Of course, it might be just because we are in WA state where there’s even odds in a Huskies vs. Mariners baseball game.

Do not despair BG, I hope this was a clever ruse to save up energy and gold for this week; when your place at the end of the week is going to matter.

SoR has gained coverage, and it might be asking too much for you to take the Gold (and to be honest, I’m rooting for SoR). However, taking out a JQ that has taken a month straight on the chin…I don’t think that’s asking for too much.

Just lean-in, and push them to T2 so they can have a proper round of the blame game and send their fairweathers off to other servers. Let them be purified in the fires of shame and if they can then retake the silver or even maybe the gold someday; then I’ll acknowledge that they are truly the best NA server ever and not just the beneficiary of luck and timing.

WvW needs more a more dynamic system, while this will just create stale matches.

It’s also a recipe for ranking manipulation on a MASSIVE scale.

A great for instance, DB is winning in T2 and is threatening to go up a tier. JQ is losing in T1 and is clearly the weaker server. DB can send it’s folks to JQ to help them beat BG, ensuring that they’ll face weaker opponents in T1.

Or another example, SoS is in #1 in T4 and will move up soon to T3. If this system was in place they would make sure that KN dropped down over YB, so they could abuse their nighttime coverage even more.

No, this idea is a disaster in the making; not even counting the fact that some servers actually might “hire mercenaries for real” and hire specific groups to help clinch a leap.

CD and SBI, you continue to impress and surprise. It’s pretty much a forgone conclusion at this point that today will be the start of our last matchup for at least a little while. The new system leaves some confusion as to how things will proceed, but it’s a fair bet that we will go up and the loser of this match will go down.

The keys to CD’s success always lie in it’s participation. When they are on, they are a force to be reckoned with.

SBI, it’s been great to face you guys again; though both our servers look a lot different from when we were both the best in NA WvW. I hope that your fortunes improve and that you are able to forge a new WvW core that will grow and become the backbone of a renewed server.

BG has the manpower to take T2 and they and DB/TC will trade places a lot.

Now, as for what NEEDS to happen. BG can clearly take JQ when the cards are right. I really, REALLY want SoR and BG to push JQ out of T1 for the first time since October.

Why, because I’m tired of the perma-T1 bragging. It will cause fairweathers to abandon them in droves until people realize this will be the new normal.

It may even setup my long awaited T3 matchup of SBI, SoS, and JQ; but that’s just frosting for this cake.

I admit, I was expecting DB to become a juggernaut; but TC has slain the myth along with the actual server.

There are a lot of Green and Red servers up and down the ladder that will be switching from Green to Red so much that (space for correction) it will happen in a perfect timeframe for Wintersday in July (which was an actual thing in GW1)

If this were 5 months ago when we were #1 in Tier 1, your logic would make a shred of sense.
However, we are the number 10 server now and will soon move up to Tier 3 (even sooner now with the generous assistance of our welcome transfers). As the matchup stands right now, CD and SBI will never beat SoS with our numerical superiority in Oceanic players.
If nothing else you should be hoping that we get many more transfers so that we move on and don’t drop back down when we do go.

If nothing else, you should REALLY be encouraging people (from other servers you are not likely to be facing) to transfer to us because with next week’s change to the rating system. You’ll be facing us every other week, with a more dynamic system like they are promising, unless we are able to fight at parity with YB and Mag.

In return, we’ll work hard to make sure YB goes down here, and you can face a pure NA server, and find a whole new set of excuses to lose; or pick yourselves up and beat them.

What I love is that this perception about SoS in open field combat, comes from EB where we typically do not send our organized guilds and effective combatants. If you want to WvW and your guild is not organized at the moment, it’s a given you go to EB to karma train and wreck some CD (because SBI is the opposite of us and brings their best to EB, all the time).

So (insert name of one of the two SBI forum warrior/WvW commanders who live on here) kills some disorganized PuGs in EB, who aren’t even on TS; and declares their server superior in open-field combat.

So what happened last night? When I got on we curbstomped your zerg at least three times in under 15 minutes. I’m pretty sure I Earthshaker’d Bannok at least twice, with him dying at my feet both times (credit to you if that was you, or whoever the crazy Guardian (ranked a General) who dives into the middle of our zerg).

The truth is, the only group that has given any kind of open field fight worthy of being called such, is KIWI. They are the only ones who bring a fight away from a tower and want to mix it up.

SBI typically just doesn’t engage without superior numbers and CD lives behind ACs. I think they should put an AC as their server’s flag.

So don’t run over some hapless PuGs in a loose-knit group, being run by one of our guildless commanders; and declare yourselves superior.

Take on some of our organized groups like ENVY, FANG, FATE, and SOV (and many others I’m not listing, no disrespect intended). (I’d say TS, but they are later in the evening typically, and volumes soaked in bitter tears have been written about our late night presence).

They have already said they are going to do this, and nerf arrow cart range and damage at the same time (Which is why they haven’t nerfed it yet).

As for the match changes, I get that “dynamic” means that we can bid farewell to the clunky Glicko system that locks matchups in place for months on end. What about the “more” part?

I pray that’s a prelude to new maps and 4 way battles so we can hear epic QQ about 3v1s!

Also Yohimbe, I think that thief graced us in SoS bl as well. He started into me and I called for help and my GM was “really, one thief?” then the thief started tearing him a new one before a few more came by to rescue us from indignity.

CD has some great individual players on it, if they ever get them all organized and moving in the same direction; there will be some great pain distributed in WvW.

Didn’t see much of SBI tonight (looks like they were pushing hard in EB); but we got a lot of great battles with CD.

The only low point was that pedazzo de mierda thief that glitched into Crag and flipped it.

Next time you SBI guys have Izzy running with you, ask them to fix that rather than finding ways to make arrow carts replace ballistas LOL

SoR is getting some help from across the pond? Now all they need is a token SEA force and perhaps a silent agreement that JQ’s time has come…

I think as long as you have added your own apology, you are probably good to keep commanding; though some folks might not flock to your personal dorito now.

Tonight is reset; where CD and SBI get the pleasure of being in the lead most of the night.

I look forward to Fridays, because even if it’s only for a few hours, we are behind and need to claw our way up. Usually we either lose or almost lose our garrison 2-3 times.

As nice as our nighttime PPT is, it’s much more fun to prevail in the face of tough odds!

That’s good to hear. We’ve all gotten carried away, but some of your boys were going a bit over the top. You’ve had an excellent reputation until now, but forum warriors can really damage the public image of a guild.

It’s accepted fact that SF requires a two drink minimum and you can get booted from TW for moving in any group less than 10. (see how it goes?)

Congrats on a fine victory BG, but you guys need to reign in RISE on the forums. They’ve been there 2 weeks and they are acting like they are the sole reason you are winning.
I’m sure they are pumped to be a part of the push that is putting you guys over the top, but they are accounting for 90% of the BG chest pounding in this thread.

I can’t begin to tell you how nice it is to have a fully committed PvX community. You get on our community TS and join as 3 guilds take out every temple in Orr, and go cap all the enemy towers in EB to round out the night.

That’s just Wednesdays for us LOL.

We offer competitive WvW (STILL one of the most dangerous NA nighttime presences in the game), community organized guild missions, PvE events, and none of the ego or defeatism that is present on many other servers.

We had a troll a few months ago who cost us a garrison when the swords came up he said it was just 3 guys without siege. It was actually a zerg with multiple rams.

These things suck, but you can’t stop people from being jerks.

kudos to Kreen.3925 on being the first JQ not to make lame excuses or feign faked indifference.

JQ lived by the stack, and will now die by the stack. #1 is, and always has been; about the stack. HoD, SBI, SoS, JQ, and now BG.

I love to give JQ crap, but they have stayed in T1 since the beginning, only dropping out once for a week.
I fully expect once their forum warriors stop the QQ, that they will handle #2 with grace and long patience; always ready for a stumble.

Or they can meltdown and setup the SoS, SBI, JQ rematch in T3 that I’ve been putting odds on happening. Either one will be fine LOL.

I don’t know who he might be feeding information to, but I can assure you it’s not one of guilds in the formal SoS WvW community as we have no patience for that kind of stuff and would most likely put him on ignore.

As for trolling, we have had our fair share of trolls (we had one guy go all out for weeks around Christmas time) and it’s something we all have to live with.

It feels so good to see the JQ of old, back into it’s best JQQ form!

Unless you are claiming that CD is pulling out all the stops this week, then SBI is fading without an explanation.

Either way, unless things have changed for good, CD’s position is pretty stable in points.

Is this a troll thread, or just an example why KN lost so many guilds? I assume that CHIPS isn’t long-time KN or he’d realize how many of the original KN allies he just insulted (guess they are no good since they were in T8….)

You see, I’m in T4. All three servers have seen their WvW population diminish to go seek T1 glory (T2 in a few cases).

Those of us who stayed, learned something valuable. That being in a 60 man zerg does not make you any better. In fact, it probably makes you worse.

Since coming to T4, I’ve had some awesome fights: 1v1’s, 1v3’s 3v7’s. All the good fights that you typically don’t get when you are in some lagged out blob.

Scenario from this weekend: myself (a warrior), and a guardian guildie decided to hold a tower against the enemy in order to stall the enemy. Because it’s T4 numbers; we were able to kill a few enemies despite it being a group of 16 players who rushed the tower.

In T1, I would have lagged out and not been able to use a single skill. Plus I would not have been in the tower, since I would have been fighting 40 people, not 16.

In lower tiers, tactics and individual contributions do matter. One guy running into the keep to man the arrow cart can turn the tide of a battle now. One person spotting a ninja attack on a keep, matters a lot more in the lower tiers.

I like our WvW, and being in a server that will soon be moving back up to come kick your heinies; I hope you remember this.

Pinko, I’m aware of that but assuming that CD will lose a few points next week when SBI stops playing with PvE shiny stuff; they will probably experience little volatility over the next several weeks.
Some things have been said about CD in a negative light; but they are stable and somewhat consistent in their coverage and performance. Short of another exodus or changes in how their WvW community operates; it’s safe to assume that they will stay where they are at until either we leave, or EB somehow accelerates their gain and replaces them.

Allow me to throw this molotov kittentail into the room and exit again. JQ and BG boast excellent coverage that averages 20/7 (no one is 24/7).

I think if anyone should be bragging, it’s SoR. They have kept things close while only being able to compete (in any meaningful way) in one time zone; one that is also well populated (though not as populated) by the other servers.

Other than Leto trolling all day long, the rest of them are pretty quiet about how awesome that is.

So everyone’s chest thumping is just….well it’s good for a laugh. Kudos to SF for knowing it’s a laugh, btw.

and Kaineng is not falling part, but barely hanging on to #1; which is increasing points for Mags and YB.

CD and SBI, we really don’t enjoy the point disparities. You’ve welcomed us in, let us get back on our feet; and we really don’t want to keep imposing on you as we are.

However it’ll take 21 weeks if CD’s score stays static for EB to catch up and at least 3 more weeks this good for SoS to go to T3 (with no promises we won’t come right back) if SBI continues to take a breather (and we know they won’t).

Help us recruit some NA primetime guilds so you can be rid of us forever!

I need to reiterate for all the QQ thieves (are you all little whiny biznows, as a class?).

Traps will cost money, they will need to be selected out of the inventory and placed in a spot that the user feels will be effective.

All the thieves are acting like everyone will be able to use it like a spammable skill or something in a fight.

If someone does drop a trap, just spam 2 to get away and wait for stealth to recharge; then repeat.

Traps will not be cheap enough to the point where you’ll find PuGs guarding dollys, holding 50+ of them just to catch that one Yakslapper….

Am I alone in loving the idea of traps?

If implemented correctly (and that is a BIG if), these could prove to be gamechangers in dealing with zergs. How about a trap that scales in damage to the number of allies within a set range?

Stealth-revealing trap, it doesn’t permanently remove stealth; so why all the crying? This is more of a nerf to veil bombs than single thieves.
After all, who’s going to waste a trap on the chance a single thief might show up? I assume they take some time to set or at least select from your inventory.
No, the stealth traps are going to make SM fights a lot more brutal when defenders are on siege.

Supply removing traps, I love this idea. This will allow 1-2 defenders to hold a tower against a zerg long enough for reinforcements to show up. You put one trap in front of the gate, and maybe another where people typically set up catas, and you stall a zerg for several minutes as they go back to the camp they just cleaned out.
Add a couple of arrowcarts on that tower…it’s anti-PvDoor; something most people have been griping about since release.

As for WxP for dolyaks, please yes! Getting PuGs to escort dollies is impossible and it takes your most organized guilds out of the fight during reset night. This will get casual PuGs and underlevelled folks out to take care of one of the most essential, yet boring tasks in WvW.

This is just like GW1. A skill is OP, abuse the heck out of it until it’s nerfed. Move on.

That’s the problem though with the current system. SoS has worked hard for the chance to go to T3 and get kittenslapped right back down LOL.

Likewise, Anvil Rock and Borlis Pass would probably like a change of pace and CD could use a break in T5 for a couple of weeks

Looking at the latest in Glicko Bingo, I think we’re going to be stuck together for a long time.

Short of a major influx of WvW focus transfers, one of the servers completely throwing in the towel, or a 2nd wave of implosion(s) from the servers above us; SoS does not have enough upward momentum to go to T3 for at least another two months.

Blame the Glicko system. It’s designed to make it harder for Green to gain points than red or blue. Last week we lost points simply because we didn’t win by enough.

If they’d just change it so that the rankings were waited by 1-24 insead of 1-3 in each tier, then you’ll see a lot more volatility.

I was going to ask who you were talking about and I suddenly remembered. He’s been challenging SoS commanders to 1vs1’s and all sorts of stupid crap.

There is an understanding between me and my guildies that if I insist on going on forums and being a nuisance, that they be left out of it. Since I am obliged to not disclose my guild name due to previously mentioned poor behavior, it would be pointless for me to confirm or deny which guild I belong to.

I can assure you that my (negative) opinions do not in any way, reflect the attitudes of my guild and server community.

So please stop guessing randomly, because eventually you will guess right and then I’ll be forced to stop replying here LOL.

Interesting… I think I might understand your point of view a little better. It seems to me like you play more around CD’s dead time.

Thanks to my work schedule and traffic, I don’t even get home until about 6PST and usually have to take care of some stuff before then. I worked very late last night and didn’t get on until about 9PST last night so I missed even my regular time. I checked in on WvW and you guys had just pushed our guys out of the Hills keep and roflstomped the survivors at lowlands. Unfortunately I didn’t have the time to stay and play. I have high hopes for the weekend proper.

The pattern has typically been that CD comes out strong on the weekends, and then SBI nudges ahead late in the week.
I shouldn’t make sweeping judgements, because I know some guilds are really going strong (I see a lot of RTGC in SoS Bl) and you guys have never thrown in the towel completely, so I’ve been a little out of line.

I’ll tell you one thing, this update kills small ops and hurts outmanned servers and discourages people from going in without a group.

One of my happiest moments in WvW is when we broke into Hills in the middle of the night with 3 people.

The changes made now guarantee that there will always be someone there on an arrow cart.

It’s all about zergs, golems, and trebuchets now. The last two I think is a cynical attempt to add a moneysink, therefore slowing down the natural deflation in the in-game economy.

I respect the heck out of the people who we’ve been facing in NA prime and even your after hours crews (I was up late one night).

Both servers have improved greatly and I’m very happy with the level of fighting we’re seeing. I rip on CD, because I know they are better than they are playing (even after transfers) and SBI because they’ve cost me a lot of repair bills over the months (T1 and T4).

It feels so good, after all the BS in T3, to have enemy groups not afraid to take you on directly. You don’t hide in towers or run away from fights like YB and DB.
You respect us and yourselves enough to bring a good fight, and I salute you guys for it.

CD is not as good during the week.

On the weekend, of the times I’ve died since last reset, ~7 times, 6 times it was CD either on Friday night or Saturday. (credit to the FEAR/TKVM guys, they are responsible for 3 of them alone).

Since then, it’s like “oh, you’re still here?”

I know there are a lot of individuals still fighting the good fight, but they are few and far between outside of EB.

You guys hit hard, and I like the challenge. So please bring your best

Seriously though, CD has some hardcore folks and they hit a lot harder than SBI does during reset night.
I respect the need to balance PvE with WvW, but I feel almost robbed by the lack of fight that CD provides 5 nights of the week.

Besides, with Wxp there is now good reason to go out and start something; even if you don’t paint all the BL’s red. There’s no good reason for packing it up and going home.

Look at SBI, they wait patiently until we get kitteny, and then they show up everywhere.

TL;DR if I thought you guys were that bad, I wouldn’t rip on you. You are fighting well beneath your abilities though.
