in EB today, BG and SoR actually got better once they abandoned the blob and went with several smaller groups.

The leader of the group of 6 people that where doing just that found himself having to tag up and take his group to defend against BG he only got about 10 additional people to follow him, BG had a group of 25-30 + sufficient solo/small roaming parties to contest supply lines. We had to consolidate what we had to defend garry and keep BG off our towers.

Then your problem wasn’t supply, but being outnumbered. You really needed that much text to say that?

SoR had a bad week and ZDs are only here for the season, story over.

If you came to SoS or Maguuma with this candyarse attitude you’d be laughed off the server. (Directed at the people losing their minds, not at Axle)

Someone get those BG kids off our lawn, they party at our garri and we spend half the evening throwing away half empty beer mugs.
The worst part is, they sometimes get bored (because they take it midday when we have virtually no one on) and hand it over to SoR who are the worst tenants ever.

UK is EU west starting at 10am server time and we don’t hit full representation until 11am server time (7pm for us) ZD’s being EU east reaches full numbers before we start and only starts to break down as were gaining momentum but tbh recently we have logged in to situations where everything has been flipped and or reinforced and our job is pretty tough with BG having such an advantage.

We simply do not have the capacity to run multiple groups with sufficient numbers to tackle all those objectives, EU for us lately is a dead zone where were struggling to get more than 10 people on some maps to follow a commander whilst out manned.

Proof today on SOR bl we logged into a blue map we gathered about enough to take garry back and only because BG was busy flipping HILLS from SOS we did not have the capacity to simultaneously defend or attack towers whilst keeping our supply lines open from measly 3 man groups from SOS and BG.

Here how to fix the problem about tier 1 and balance the servers population :

You can’t transfer to a server ranked higher than yours.

So BG would not get any transfer until it go down in ranking. Eventually every server will get at chance at #1.

The league winner is supposed to get a unique finisher. I personally think it should be a bunch of blocks stacked on top of each other.

Every server from SoR down has matches that are stacked against them. Just take your victories when you can and play for fun over ppt.

Actually there is an interesting point to be had here. TC will have 2 weeks of winning #1 and only one week as number 3.
If SoR comes in last in week 7; TC might take 3rd.

Blackgate should win this. We won the first round (SoR vs. BG vs. JQ) and then demolished SoR twice in two weeks, by wide margins. We’re sufficiently stacked to have full queues on all four maps most of the time. Without some guild transfers, the only competitor is JQ, and JQ finished last in the first week. It’s difficult to see us losing.

While I’m confident we are going to win next week and beat JQ. I wouldn’t go as far as to rule them out. Both servers have quite a lot of motivation to beat us, SoR (maybe) to make sure we don’t win leagues and JQ because if we win the next 2 its over. Both SoR and JQ have decisively beat us, they can do it again if we (BG) get over confident.

Just an FYI, FA didn’t tank or lose to be in Silver on purpose. It came down to the rise of SBI (which I agree should be in Gold along with FA) and the RNG system and the last couple matches before leagues started. FA’s ranking was eroded by playing lower tiered servers while SOS and SBI were able to earn ranking. Eventually, Maguuma was able to hold on for Gold league and SBI and FA stayed in Silver.

On a side note, if you play a ranger in wvw, you’re going to have a bad time. Just my opinion.

To be a little snarky, FA complaining about 6 weeks is proof that they weren’t up for Gold League. There was no concious decision to tank, but they chose to not be in Gold via low turn out and poor showing against a servers they enjoyed significant coverage advantages against.

To FA’s credit, I’m sure the utter boredom after week 1 has them wondering if they really got the best of the deal.

The league itself has been kinda… something. The best outcome would be for it to come down to that last match, otherwise the last 2 weeks are pretty boring/meaningless. We’ll do our best to win vs BG. We’re resting up; we’re getting ready. Regardless of the outcome, however, we will be out there fighting until the last possible moment. Deny JQ access to SoR or BG for too long, and we get super cranky and out for blood.

I expect that match to be all out war. At minimum, it’ll probably be the 2nd best match in gold league of the season I expect. Also, as you say, it has the chance to set up a pretty interesting week 7. Much is still unknown at this point and I’m pretty excited to see how it all plays out.

I’ve said this elsewhere, but I want it recorded for posterity as much as possible before the QQ’s start in week 5 that Sea of Sorrows is not picking a side in the JQ-BG matchup.
All our commanders and guilds have complete autonomy and can fight whoever they want; but no one is advocating picking a side and we do not want the months of QQ that we picked one over the other.

PS: We are really resisting the urge to start a bidding war, but that would not be fair since SoR sounds so convinced that BG already spent the GDP of a small African nation on ZDs.

SoS and Maguuma were 7th and 8th when #6 Dragonbrand completely imploded. At the same time, FA lost a few key guilds due to internal politics.

FA nearly lost to SoS after key guilds left in the middle of their match with JQ while SBI beat Maguuma and they both destroyed DB.

The following week, Maguuma was really strong against FA until Wednesday when IoJ imploded at the last second and FA got a fresh infusion of numbers.
That same week, SBI wilted in the face of SoR’s number (they were not, and maybe still not ready for primetime) and they failed to gain enough rating to get gold despite the efforts of SoR to get SBI into Gold.
Hence, this is why it’s SBI and FA doing curbstomp battles, instead of SoS and Maguuma.

It probably would have been fairer to the Silver League to get Maguuma and SoS, especially since Maguuma would have sent people to Gold League, giving YB Silver and while SoS would win; the fights in NA prime would be fun (of course, we might have gotten IoJ’s transfers in that case.)

All is water under the bridge though because both SoS and Maguuma are having a blast in T1. We don’t feel any stress because we don’t have to worry about where we will place. Additionally it’s fun to get to be the spoiler in a match up with two T1 servers. The rage is palpable when a good 2v1 gets going.

Edit: It’s quite funny that Sea of Sorrows actually gets to decide the winner of the league. If they choose to focus BG or JQ solely in week 5, the other server will almost certainly win the league.

Each guild on SoS is completely autonomous and everyone is welcome to attack whoever they wish; but it’s the general consensus on Sea of Sorrows that we do NOT want to be the deciding factor on who wins the Gold League and plan on playing that match 100% straight.
It wouldn’t be worth the 1000 years of hate that we’d get if we focused on JQ, and we have former servermates and friends on both servers.

It might be because of your tag. [Ark] is responsible for a lot of PvF and some folks might be spreading the word to mock your guild in particular.

TC is still very large in comparison to SoS and Mag, but SoS and Mag were tier 3 before FA and DB developed issues.

It’s all good though. SoS, Mag, FA, and even SBI are still growing and we might have a good Tier 2-Tier 3 series of matchups if they can stop throwing T1 servers where they frankly don’t want to be.

Because watching SoR implode from the outside is rather interesting.

I’m surprised it wasn’t more BG. BG I would assume would be first as it is built largely on pve (fair weathers) and transfer.

BG is made up of past T1 implosions and a lot of people who are dedicated to staying in that tier. After facing them for the first time in months I can say that it’s actually their strength that they aren’t built around a hub of large guilds but are many smaller guilds.

Also SoR got their act together so no one is going away any time soon.

I think we should continue to egg SoR and BG on in this pointless debate. Keep it going strong so that the TC peeps coming back last week will feel like they didn’t miss a single post since they are still arguing the exact thing they were last week.

Interesting thing right now though, SoR is ticking pretty good (still behind BG) right now. I noticed this PPT increase corresponds with a dramatic drop in IRON PvF, someone in their organization must have started getting them in line.

This is why everyone is giving SoR as a whole a ration of kitten.

SoS knows more than a few things about being outnumbered and having a sea of red coming over the hill. You move maps, you float; and then you come back when that blob gets bored or distracted.
You can even just lock down Vale and siege it up and make it a prolonged brawl to keep the BG zerg on the map and busy.

SoR used to play the underdog game better than anyone in NA. You’d seldom win, but everyone knew that if they turned their backs for even a second, that you’d take them down. SoR vs SoS in T2 a year ago was far more competitive than SBI and JQ were in T1 at the time.

You guys need to get that mojo back.

BTW: Thank you to everyone cheering on SoS to try for 2nd; but it’s simply not in the cards in regards to late morning and EU coverage. We’ll be working hard to keep the score close but we still have queues measured in seconds (not minutes) in NA prime and as much as our EU groups do for us, they don’t have anything like a “blob” on most days and have one of the most thankless jobs on our server.

No one enjoys fighting top tier servers.

The bottom 3 cant have even fights except between each other, and same with the top 3.

2 of those leagues would play the same servers for 7 weeks straight… Wasn’t that one of the complaints for moving to the Seasons in the first place?

The all the top 3 do is ______ and moan when they face anyone other than each other. The bottom 3 are implodes that haven’t found the stability they need to start rebuilding.

The whole League concept needs to be scrapped. It rewarded T1 for being T1 (the outcome was never in doubt) and the resulting shenanigans, transfers, and sandbagging that proceeded in the weeks before the start of the league wrecked at least 6-9 server communities and has made WvW more unstable and unenjoyable than ever before.

For every honey-badger player on an outmanned server (ie, SoS, Maguuma, NSP) there are dozens crying and feeling robbed.
Check out the BG-SoR thread. A single guild transferred and SoR lost it’s ____ like they were _______-punched while in flagrante delicto.

Really? JQ is a server that likes good fights. We get two days of solid fights out of the T2 servers. That’s it. Now everyone is either doing spvp or pve due to no one from the T2 servers want to get in. They’re done with this week. I’m assuming the way you’re kitten, that you’re from BG. That’s just the type of server BG is. They can’t fathom a server wanting good fights as long as they win. So how about you get off our d and know that we’re not the ones that created or wanted this mess.

I’m sure it doesn’t seem like there are any fights when we put two groups of 20 into a borderland and you respond with 2 groups of 40.
It seems like no one in T1 can see this from outside the bubble that has been formed; but weak coverage to a T1 server is only 20-30 per a borderland; while that is primetime coverage on T3 servers.

It’s a good night when we’re able to put up orange swords in 2-3 locations on a map for SoS.
Maguuma can do that pretty easily every evening, but they are hard pressed to have more than 25 people total in WvW during the night.

Let’s see if we can work on this in two weeks. SoS and Mag have the highest RNG compatibility in all of WvW so we will see each other when the league is over and can get back to bashing each other then (unless it’s SBI, in which case we’ll both beat them up on principle).

The thing with sites like that is there’s zero way for it to show where bodies are allocated because it assumes all objectives take equal effort.

example: mag bl and jq bl are queued all NA, but a 15-20 man on SoS BL takes equal or more objectives for mag.

In the same situation, SoS could have queues pounding against JQ at night, but a 20 man sent to mag BL would yield more objectives. Outside of Anet providing an API that shows current queue data (bodies per map from each server) then it’s kind of worthless for determining effort exerted.

It’s just a general overview and not a recording nor a series of snapshots.

For instance, Maguuma is ticking 5ppt right now and only owns 1 camp across all maps. One would look at this and conclude that JQ is obviously focusing Maguuma overly. However, I bet the karma trains are already making a beeline for SoS garri and Valley keeps, and we’ll probably be ticking a 100ppt less by the time anyone reads this post.

Doesnt work unless most of the main commanders are tolerant towards transgressions. The WXP train folks are going to go where it is easy for them to go, they wont care or pay attention to a plan. If you cannot look beyond that, then it will simply not work.

I understand, but we did this pretty well in the latter half of the first week of the season.

I think at the very least we can work on it in two weeks so that we will be in the habit for when week 7 rolls around and we can stand a pretty good chance of making TC sweat (probably not, but it’s worth a shot and it could make things interesting).
