Thanks for reaching out to the community on this; a lot of people have felt a lack of trust towards the development team in recent months so this is a positive development.

Some things that are on most WvW’rs wishlists:

1. Commander interface. Even being able to change the color of the icon to one of your choosing would make a huge difference. Perhaps a auto /supplyinfo tally of players + supply on the top bar, polled every 5 sec?

2. Outmanned buff scales to ranking differences in the matches. Large population shifts can break this for ~1-2 weeks but the end result would be a net positive.

3. Adding achievements for a WvW season was a good idea, but by creating different leagues has destroyed the WvW communities on 1/4 of all NA servers. Unless you are willing to take more direct measures to deal with the WvW population (different than server population) differences, we would appreciate this idea not be repeated until a more balanced situation develops.

If CORE did just transfer from IoJ to FA than they have more history with SBI than Mag and might enjoy thinking they forced us into gold league.

But now Mag is leading that matchup and has a higher PPT than SBI so they’ll retake 6 shortly on the predicted rankings during our worst coverage period. Its a nail biter!

CORE did transfer and had a fun night out fighting but we really want to see SBI in Silver with us.

SoR is out to crush everyone’s dreams, I guess.

lol indeed correct you can be t2 based on oceanic alone. it just makes for a terrible week as a server fights with its stongest time against its opponents weakest.

SoS has excellent NA guilds, as well as great EU and SEA people. We have not made “T2” based solely on our oceanic timezone.

If Mags indeed gets to gold league, they’ll have plenty if chances to take down SoS. We’ll be seeing a lot of each other.

SoS was T5 at the start of one week matches, with guilds like MERC still there and everything.
It’s because we do have good folks in the EU and NA times that allows our Oceanic and SEA folks the chance to increase the score.
Also, SoS always had our Oceanic presence, since BWEs; so why is this still such a source of constant surprise to people like you?

Sounds like wishful thinking, I think ArenaNet is devoting the majority of their server space to handle all these transfers. This will be their most profitable week post-launch.

Massive SBI de-stack in 3….2…

I’m grateful to any update that encourages random PuGs to engage more with their communities andon VoiP more.

After the kitteny crap at SoR hills I was getting ready to give up on all of SBI. ( seriously DR, you went out of your way to save SoR hills, are going to xfer there tomorrow?)

But then Abys charged the tower as quaggans and restored my faith that there is some awesome people on SBI.

I’m not great at keeping count but will this be our 20th consecutive win against SBI, or only 19th?

Personally I’m going to be disappointed with FA not in gold league. FA has some really strong oceanic guilds which I like playing against (Unreal Aussies is one I know), more than Mags or SBI. I remember one matchup especially a few weeks back with all the FA/TC/SoS oceanics out every night being pretty awesome.

I agree, the last match with TC was more fun than the ppt suggested and I think any t2 match ups would be interesting now that TC has lost some of their numbers. If we could teach FA and SBI to 2v1 we could have some excellent scraps with TC and I think they would have a fun time as well.

They haven’t gotten enough to T1 yet. Once only a few servers still do WvW they can shut it down a devote more resources to gem shop items.

This is true. One change though: TC does not have the numbers nor the organization for T1, but are definitely stronger than the other 4 servers you mentioned.

Agreed. TC is 1.5 with no real equals. SoS and SBI are solid T2, main requirement being fairly consistent coverage. While Mag and FA are Tier 2.5. Mag because bipolar coverage and FA, the oldschool T2 underdog that has gradually lost players.

Maguuma also tends to intentionally sandbag a little, not playing much on the weekends.
I think if such a thing as a four-way match could happen and if all were rested and raring to go that you’d see a pretty even score at the end.

Anyone who blasts a water field is the one who applies the boon, so Guardian is probably the strongest though they are weaker without eles.

SoR’s forum warriors have taken the match off and 90% of the incendiary posts are by SoR fans from T1 or SBI fans from their previous matches.

I’m split on a few things.

I would relish nothing more than SBI’s bandwagon making gold and then spectacularly imploding, but not at the expense of Maguuma being put in silver. Not at the expense of SoS either, I do enjoy fighting them too, and they absolutely deserve gold league above SBI.

At this point Mag has been slowly climbing in ratings above SBI, which goes to show which server has a community more stable on their decision to tank or to fight

It’s pretty much a done deal at this point. You guys on Maguuma clearly want it more, and SBI has so many factions pulling in all directions that there is no clear goal over there; and they are losing points because of it. At the current trajectory, SoS will overtake them since we take points from SoR while they try to take from us (Whether or not you play for PPT, it’s important to know how it works).

After checking out the 6 pages on SBI forums about the “topic de jour”, all I have to say to SBI is don’t worry about where you end up.
Play the same in this match as you did last week, and the week before that. If your fate is to be in Gold League, then you belong there.
If you end up in Silver, maybe then you weren’t ready or maybe Mags just wanted it more.

If you want to come after SoS over SoR, just say so and don’t obfuscate about it. You guys need to have some powwows and get on a single page. I feel like it’s SoR-SoS-SBI-SBI-SBI because you have so many different faces right now.

Enough on this, let’s take it back to the game. I feel like I’m yelling at someone with MPD and I feel dirtied by it.

Every once in a while we’ve seen a small group of SoR, but 9 times out of 10 they run at the sight of any enemies in a group of 3+, no matter what numbers they have.

It’s because in T1 you rarely see a small group outside of the Ruins, and they are usually the advance group of an incoming zerg.

I don’t see it as a criticism of T1; but it’s different than the game is played in T2 and lower. Running away from inferior numbers is seen as waving the “I suck” flag in lower tiered matches, while in T1 in means (I better get back to the zerg since I’m running my meta build).

The simple fact is that you need a higher level of skill in lower tiers to be successful (notice I didn’t say win, I’m talking about you and your guild having an enjoyable experience).
Numerous times in the match against SoR I have died easier than I should have, because I’m used to having skills work on demand. I go to hold a spot with my guild and we get ran over because our stability skills have a 5 second delay due to lag.

There is light years of difference when fighting SoR, from fighting TC or DB (before the implosion) where you had to pop your skills with the utmost timing.

When facing a T1, it’s a matter of numbers + numbers running appropriate gear. In lower tiers we’re still bringing our populations into WvW (instead of buying talent, we build it) and helping them break free of preconceptions and to ditch their zerker gear.

I think everyone should experience T1 once, and then decide if they are happier being a zergling (or at least getting better GvGs); or if they are comfortable taking a more central role in their server’s successes and failures.

I suspect long-timers like Bannok and some of the more enthusiastic new comers like Andrew would be fine in Gold.
However the rank and file on SBI seem very down on it, to the point where you have multiple posters coming onto the official forums and protesting strongly.

We’ve been honest on SoS that silver league would be a lot easier on us, but we also accept that as the #5 server that we are truly the #5 server. We rather fight and lose, than just give up for a finisher that will probably be visibly different than the Gold one.

There is a plus to that, every time you get spiked by that you face the fact you got spiked by someone who REALLY wanted it LOL

That’s my point though. It would be far easier to steal the rating from SoR than it will be to take the few assets that SoS owns on the map. SoS and SBI tick for about the same amount except for Ocn time – meaning they own about the same number of assets. They have fewer assets to capture and we’re not going to be able to take all their stuff. Plus, it will just kitten them off so they focus us harder thus undermining our goal even further.

Meanwhile, SoR paints most of the map green.

Dude, we were going for you garrison before we even knew SoR was there. We broke in the outer, and got to the inner gates before we knew they were there. We wanted your garrison, cause we want to get 2nd place in this match up. It is nothing personal, we weren’t trying to screw you against SoR, we were trying to beat you and SoR. It just so happens they beat all of us. Was an awesome battle though.

So the orange swords up at NW tower for almost an hour straight didn’t clue you in that SoR/SoS shenanigans were not afoot?

Look, I know a lot of the old SBI crew, along with some of the classier transfers over there are playing things straight. However, the fact is that a lot of people moved to SBI in order to be at the top of Silver League (either the original one, or the latest incarnation).
People who like easier fights….people who would go after the number 2 server rather than face a challenge.

Get where I’m going? We have screenshots and these people are on your server. I hope it’s a minority, but no one respects the guys who toady up to the stronger server.

I respect that you want to have some fights with us, but SoR isn’t going to let that happen. We haven’t had a single zerg clash with you guys this entire match where “INC SoR” wasn’t spammed before the last guy was spiked.

We’ve repeatedly suggested a 2v1 and the answer is your guys permanently bivouacked in Ogreswatch 12 hours a day.

And to address your point, you get more points by reducing SoR’s. Reducing our ppt has miniscule effect on yours while taking from SoRs will increase your rating by a lot.

No, no it’s not. FA used to play like this every week, now they are getting stomped by Maguuma. YB played this way, and they fell to Tier 5.

On SoS, we know we’ll never get better pounding on SBI. Bring on RISE, CHOO, and HL. Bring on guys that have skill as well as numbers.

I can’t wait for Maguuma to pass SBI. While they have good players , too many of them aren’t ready for this level of play.

Like I said in another thread. You’ll find individual roamers from T1 servers, but they have no organized small roaming groups. With all the blobbing from the other servers it probably doesn’t make sense for them anyhow.

I just worry about having to adapt to their style to fight at all (blechh!)

We had a queue last night and we had two groups in full action. Unfortunately we’re only getting this kind of action on a single borderland and hopefully we’ll be able to expand our coordination to 2-3 BL’s even in a tough week like this one.

There’s obviously a little more to it than just sieging a lord’s room, in most defenses you are undermanned as almost no one ever assaults you with equal or inferior numbers. The real math of a solid defense is done with the individual defenders and the coordination of their commanders. If you have 30 uplevels defending against 50, you’re going to lose, if you have 30 well geared/specced seasoned WVWers in voice comm with their experienced and knowledgeable commander, your odds significantly improve. After awhile of being on a server it becomes clear which kind of WvWers are most prominent, this is why guilds move to different servers most of the time.

This is unfortunate – but we can’t force the militia to get on voice chat, and we can’t force them to follow our orders. At the same time its like you are saying these militia are bad at WvW, and that the “good” players are leaving. I disagree with your statement in principle, but in reality it is reasonable to say that a 30 group without coordination is going to lose vs the 50 group a good chunk of the time. The issue was that if ANET believed communication was critical to WvW they might have done a better job of giving access to communication tools – such as persistant map drawings or not text blocking or even providing some form of voice chat.

But back to why guilds leave servers – a guild leaves a server because of incompatible or mutually exclusive methods to carry out winning the game. If a guild is ok with not requiring everyone on voice chat then they will likely not leave a massive militia server like SoS. If a guild demands that everyone get on voice chat and militia will refuse to (there ARE valid reasons why completely based on lifestyle and playstyle) that guild will suffer feelings of mis-utilization.

And back to another issue – a guild does not prove they are “better” by being in a “better” ranked server. Their skill is still the same (subject to personal growth) regardless of the server they are on. Its just that their playstyle changes a bit to accommodate resources the “better” server provides for them.

I have to disagree. The reason why our community on SOR is so strong is because anyone can join our ts and we encourage people too. So I’m sure trying to ask Militia to join is still worth it. As we have a lot of talented non guild-ed players who fight with our major guilds. Guilds leaving on the other hand, has more to do with keeping their own communities alive. As someone who is ex AFS I can say we left to ignore burnout as one sea guild against the countless others was too difficult. So back then we left to fight in Tier 1 where we had plenty of allies and guilds to fight. In general I’m not too pleased with all the discredit to anyone who left SOS. However the same applies to anyone who is trying to belittle SOS. Just stop with it, its all in the past. Anyone who left is happy where they are. And everyone on SOS has done a fantastic job. So please ignore the trolls and respect everyone, old allies and new enemies. that being said I’m 100 % sure Kuora isn’t on SOR. All he does is troll and write comments for attention. This is actually the same with Stealth too. So please don’t take anything theses guys say to be anymore then one their own opinion.

Anyways its good to see SOS again and great to see you still leading Vox. You probably have no idea who I am, but I got AFS to support you when you started leading all thoses months ago. Also great to see FANG still going always loved to follow you guys in NA. By the way, is Fate still around haven’t seen or heard about Irenical in awhile.

Also Thanks to both SBI and SOS for the fights I keep hearing about ( currently on dial up speed so I can’t do anything). But my newer commanders are having a lot of fun and learning. I hope the fights have been fun for you guys too.

The shakeout from SoS had some people acting badly and behaving badly, then some folks were perfectly reasonable and left classily.

Some good people I respected did not carry themselves well. People who said that there would be no competition in T2, and so on were high on my list of people who did not comport themselves well.

AFS stuck around for a while and weren’t part of the groups that left for T1 vanity reasons. If there is any hard feelings towards AFS it’s because you guys were awesome to play with and went out of your way to work with others. Grekkz and all of you were always trying to get things started across guilds, even before server-wide Teamspeak became a thing.

Maguuma, we need you guys to get into Gold League. SBI forums are filled with people threatening to quit or sit out the season, and already their score is dropping fast. They would have fallen apart already except that SoR is focusing on us since we aren’t throwing in the towel already.
Please don’t let all those poor people’s transfers to SBI be in vain!

FA are definitely not losers, but I think you’ll have more competition than you were expecting. #13 is keeping things uncomfortably close to your score, which means you do have to worry about BP and IoJ.
There’s no shame in that, I’ve always considered BP “Maguuma-lite” and now they have some nighttime coverage they’ll be tough. IoJ got a lot of transfer love and SBI is showing us all that just because the transfers are from lower tiers, doesn’t make them weak at all.

It’s PrX getting on SoS that got them up (much like WM pulled us, SBI, to T1). When these guilds left their respective server, the falling started.

When PrX was on, neither JQ or SBI could do much.

I admit PRX made NA prime more refreshing as they can usually hold their own. It took nearly 2 months for the decreased numbers to take effect as everyone else on the server burnt themselves out.

Edit: PRX isn’t the only capable NA guild on the server fyi.

I may have missed some but these are the guilds I have worked with before the implosion

DiE (Darkness is Everywhere), MERC, HL, and VotF were also keep members that kept us going strong.

I miss a lot of the individuals who left but of the guilds I miss VotF’s fun fighting style and TSYM before they got too big to be on anything but a T1 server.

I’d like to point out that SoS continued to win without PrX, and that they joined in JQ at the end of free transfers in an outrage that we continued to win without them.

SoS owed a lot to PRX, but this false argument that they were carrying our server was disproven back in January.

What repair fee-has been none for me since I am always outmanned. As well as english, learn history. We only dropped to T4

Funny, because whenever I see an SoS zerg, it’s a full server blob and they never have outmanned buff. Greater in numbers, less in skills.

B. You can no longer see if enemies have the outmanned status.
