Engis have the best variety of builds in the game outside of warriors. Not to mention transmute, healing turret, super elixir, and elixir C. Also healing turret is one of the shortest CD heals in the game and it’s a free 2 condi clear on a 1/4 second cast time. Not too shabby. Mesmers would kill to have engineer level of condi clear… Just sayin.

Exactly. It’s not until you have played all professions that you realise some bring a lot more to the table than others.

I have seen multiple people with the same guild name as me and are not part of the guild I am in. It shouldn’t be an issue. Your either the ‘Curse’ playing Pvp or just doing your thing. However representing your guild and recruiting players in way that is deceitful, or worse asking new recruits to pay an admittance fee when you know you’re not actually the higher rank guild could/should be construed as scamming. As long as you make it evidently clear you share a name sake and are not the ToL team when recruiting you should be fine.

My necro in full zerker does about half that much damage.

I’m in exotic, he’s in ascended, but still… I cannot see how he’s getting those numbers.

Check the vulnerability stacks on the champ in the video. Vulnerability in open world is always the last condition stack on the line. In the warrior video there is none with the occassional 0.5 bleep of it. In the necro video there is 25 stacks of it perma.

The food proc also doesn’t show exactly what grade of food was take. Perhaps you need to buy slightly more expensive food proc’s to help pump up your DPS more.

Don’t feel inadequate if your not getting those numbers. A lot of it has to do with things like empower ally, spotter, banners, foods etc. One video is influenced by these factors more than the other. They show “Best solution” results and not “average expected results.” For the basis of damage no food was needed at all to demonstrate dmg. That alone raises issues with this, even though I do believe he seems fairly honest.

Oh my f’ing god..in the warrior video the undead champ has no vulnerability stacks on it. You can clearly see that.

In the necro video it has a steady 25 stacks..oh my f’ing god…

Yeah. Lets not talk about that little part of it.

Necro’s can do dmg. I own one. they’re great, but the stats chosen on the warrior are not good.

Slashing power has not been chosen. There goes an additional 10% dmg lost right there.

No points into burst mastery. Hence crit dmg remains below 278%.

No furious reaction action. On a champ, it ensures 100% fury uptime.Precision on signets taken. Drop the signet and replace with on my mark for additional 10% dmg.

That alone adds an additional 62K x 20%-=74K+ additional fury uptime and additional increased crit dmg via burst mastery.

Necro is awesome, but the reality is if you stand in front of warrior and do nothing, it will down you faster than a necro. We don’t need deathshroud or lich form to do our dmg. Necro does.

Well if they aren’t trying to capture nodes fixing the 4v5 problem in hotjoins seems like a silly idea!

It won’t fix the problem. It will lock some casuals into one team where they get owned and bashed by there team making pvp more elitist and selective than it already is.

Here’s the thing. If you care so much about your pvp experience that this bothers you so much, then maybe you should be playing with other players that care….. Not Hotjoins. If your just testing a build then you shouldn’t get mad either way though lol.

You mean SoloQ where 4 vs 5 still happens a year later? or you mean tpvp where rank 1000 can be placed against rank 10 because of the lack of teams to make the MMR effective? Or you mean the 20+ wait times to ensure a proffesional match?

please clarify which? You have totally missed the point. If it is a mode in the game, it is as deserved of attention as any other aspect. What your saying is a keen to, “Its a custom arena, who cares?” Then suddenly with skyhammer farming it becomes apparent why not caring was terrible idea. Currently there is multiple good reasons to care and not this this go unchecked. If its in the game, it needs to be kept in line with terms and conditions. “Manipulating match results is a breach of serious misconduct” Not my words, anets own words. That is exactly what is happening. So lets all just ignore the serious misconduct, its only hotjoin.

It was the one thing that got praise in a number of highly critical reviews. That at least Pvp is open to all. No gear grind, no PvE required.

I really don’t understand why the one thing that even got praise from the toughest critics they removed.

The 4 man team is dominating because of the additional person.
Enter spectator mode early enough next match. Force the autobalance, then rejoin the team you left.
Then someone on opposing team enters spectator mode and reforces autobalance back.
However clever little dic notices autobalance, and quickly also enters spectator mode canceling the autobalance and waits to see what team is getting clear advantage.
Re enters match on winning side.

Best tactic in hotjoin. Players found better ways of winning than were offered to them. Even though in terms of use it states manipulating match outcomes is a serious misconduct of terms of use. Yet it happens as often as I get PM’ed to buy gold.

I don’t believe anet ever intended this to be the way it was used, but lately it feels like all control over all Pvp is slipping away from them. Strength runes making gods of celestial builds that by design were only meant to be jacks of all trades. Refusing to engage anyone in a fair sense of PvP when you can just stealth pull them down holes. Rank matches starting as 4 vs 5. Gold sellers whispering everyone. Megaserver events just a complete polygon pixel mess..what are we going to see next?..Inserting the AC troll into HoTW and having it drop the wrong tokens?..asura ele animations scaling wrong and being used as an exploit?
I still play daily, but whoever runs accounts can see my account hasn’t bought any gems or TP items in a very long time. That is what happens when you get a vote of no confidence. It is just the sad reality. It sounds harsh to say, but every word is truthful..that is what it truly makes it sad. Pushing a product you know is broken and hoping it still makes you money. The kinda thing business management 101 warns students about in year one of university. I really hope for them they take this seriously, each day it seems they’re losing control of their own work a little more.

I like you have laid your thinking out logically. I do feel though some of your suggestion could better be accomplished via intra-trait balancing/redesign. All professions currently carry traits that had a nominal purpose in release, but 2 years later they are currently underwhelming or simply not needed or without purpose. A lot of these traits could be developed to provide greater road markers in build diversity. The other issue is that currently with only game mode type there is only certain build archetypes that have purpose and intent, namely roaming/node defense. There is no greater reason currently to create a spike damage build that has a greater emphasis on sustain. It makes more sense to create a pure spike build and invest heavily in removing node defenders or roamers quickly than to battle it out for an extended period of time. The name of the game is to take nodes quickly and hold nodes and eliminate back cappers before they have a chance to move freely.

Good tactics when it is 4 vs 5? It is common enough that it requires some sort of advanced tactic. In gw1 in TA or RA you rarely got 3 vs 4, but it did happen and it was not always insurmountable. Naturally with the vast amount of times, and length of time this has been happening, there must be some sort of thinking that showcases decisive winning which justifies why this has not, or ever been corrected or addressed. I usually QQ about alot of stuff but I think its pretty close to being balanced.

Gving more mobility ( swiftness not blinks) and stability to necro , slightly buffing condi removal of engineer/mesmer and making power ranger viable would make this game balanced.

Adjusting some aspects of stealth so that certain aspects of using it on some skills causes both parties to lose target. Considering no animation in a animation based game creates risk reward. Where multiple targets are in range, the mesmer/thief/engi/ranger can use stealth as their defense and/or set up, but like their target they also have to wade through untargetting binding roots, turrets, other clones. This forces them to also have to make use of animations when they vanished leaving none. Stealth is just too large of advantage for it not to have a large downside to it as well.

Necro. No stability (unless you spec grandmaster trait and get 3 seconds in deathshroud.)= You have no chance against this build. Players stated right from the start skyhammer was a toxic map that allowed cheap mechanics to be utilized. Players hammered this home time and time again. The players then left. A-net seemed ok with this. So there is you’re answer. Don’t play pvp if u get skyhammer. Log out and load a game that encourages pvp in its pvp arena’s. It sounds like a harsh answer, but players were left no choice. It just got too tired too quickly seeing this “skill” being used over and over again. Your lucky you have a warrior. Necro, thief, other engi have extremely limited stability, if any at all.

If all you’re going to do is talk about hypothetical builds that may choose to not run kits/elixirs then your argument is pointless and meaningless. One should not have to consider hypothetical situations that don’t exist and if they did, are not effective or even enjoyable.

Start off your argument with fact, not dreamy hypothetical rhetoric that vaguely kinda outlines what your trying to prove, but doesn’t really do a good job of doing so.

Maybe there is a enjoyable and effective warrior build that only use axe/shield and has no secondary weapon swap at all. Perhaps we should consider a ele build that never uses one of it attunements or a necro that has a dagger in one hand and a axe on the other main hand and no secondary weapons..maybe there is builds out like that that we need to think about also.

See where I’m going with this?..hypothetical situations means nothing. Next lets discuss rangers who don’t want a pet.

The most weapon skills in game.
Both have been described as a-net as , “Kings of versatility”
Both either pulls/push/knockdowns or all of the above.
Both have reflects.
Both blocks.
Both have universal immunity.
Both have the ability to stack multiple boons quickly and maintain them.
One has stealth.
Both have stunning team support
Both have access to 3rd party AI pets.

…but you feel they are weak because you don’t get additional sigils..wow. Just wow.

Your complaint is nonsense because you know as good as everyone, that Engineers and Elementalist compensate the lack of 2 sigils with a massive amount of more Weapon Skills/ Utility Skillls through Kits, than any other of the Classes have.

Everyone said the same thing about sigils with two-handed weapons. Wasn’t true then either. The developers have not stated ANYWHERE at ANYTIME that elementalists and engineers have two sigils as a drawback for their extra skills.

What they have stated is that both classes are balanced by each skill doing less, being more situational, and having less damage/utility per skill; and in the case of the elementalist, having about 20% higher cooldowns and the games only global cooldown. Every single design problem with the engineer and elementalist is not inherently justified by their extra skills.

The entire design of both classes lends itself to balancing out their extra skills, or it’s supposed to, as, if I may be frank, that hasn’t been true since launch. Elementalists have a whopping three builds (sort of, really two variations on the same arcane/water build and then fresh air), which is the most they’ve had since launch. Engineers really only have a handful of builds, spoon fed to them by the developers pumping a ridiculous amount of defensive power in to the engineers trait trees. It looks like they have more, because of all their trait paths, but then you look at their skill and stat selection, and they vary between the same two or three choices on every ‘build’.

Maybe if engineers and elementalist got four sigils per build (extra weapon swap or not), it might help open up builds for two of the most build-starved classes in the game.

If you’re a warrior and run with 2 axes or swords or maces as your main and swap, the burst skill between cooldown remains the same. If you’re running 2 different weapons then when you swap they both act off different independent cooldown timers. This is too prevent a player using burst skill after burst after burst in sucession of the same type.

Please explore all professions thoroughly before making blanket statements that aren’t true. Elementalist is not the only profession that is subject to universal cooldowns. It is for the same reason as warrior burst weapons sharing a universal cooldown if they are weapons of the same type.

I hear ya. Logged in. Shyhammer+ engi’s. Despite stability I still got pulled down holes 17 times. I kid you not. I started counting. I left before match was over. Stealth>pull>LoL. I then logged out for the day. It only took 13 minutes on skyhammer to make me completely hate the game and just not wanna play if this is what pvp is. One engi also had the good graces to announce that they’d “R**e anyone on this map.” However ppl have highlighted the multiple issues with this map and nothing has, or will be done. This is way after the influx of new players to Pvp we’re back to small communities again.

Warriors are a little bit to Op atm.

Blocks/blinds/evades don’t work against Hambow builds to prevent CI. Even if they did, landing your burst skills has never been difficult (outside of Kill Shot), against me. No more difficult than landing some CC, for example.

No, you broke it. I don’t have issues landing burst skills either. Maybe that’s because I’m used to landing long cast times from necro, though.

Flurry is dead easy to land, Skull Crack isn’t difficult in the slightest, and Eviscerate is rarely avoided if I already baited a dodge (again, not difficult to do). Arcing Slice is probably the easiest burst skill to land because nobody ever watches for it. Earthshaker and Kill Shot are the only tough ones to land (Kill Shot being nigh impossible).

I’m with this guy. If you can get flurry to land 100% of the time despite it’s habitual tendency to over shoot, land axe despite its overt animation and mace with its insane long cast time, then I suggest you’re ready to stop Pvp’ing against the sight impaired and step up to average and moderately good opponents. I think this will change your mind on burst skills being insanely easy to land. Not trying to be harsh, but if their title is avenger or higher, you’re going to have to work on landing those burst skills because these players generally have their keyboard shortcuts down pat and ready.

Meaningful weakness:
Rush skills (Rush+bull’s charge) entirely broken. They often over shoot and rubber band you entirely.

leap skills (savage leap) See rush skills.

Burst skills: The most animated skills in all the game. No other profession can boost as highly telegraphed skills as these. Refer to article “obscenely easy to dodge.”

Nerfed weapons in oblivion: Try playing mace. (refer to burst skills animation) Better yet, try playing duel mace. Good luck with that. Also refer to longbow “Generates too much adrenaline.”- actually generates no adrenaline.

Grandmaster traits: Refer to article on 90% grandmaster skills that sigils can do, or are totally worthless to invest in.

Raw deal: Refer “We aren’t going to nerf healing signet until we have a more viable option for it’s active.” next read, “8% healing signet nerf, no change to active.”

Nonsensical: “We have decided to back load axe damage so only the 3rd third does viable damage.” Next refer to whirling axe Which does less damage than just auto attacking, and as stated, auto attack sucks. So burst is where all of axes damage is at. Refer to burst skills again.

Sorry, what were asking about meaningful weaknesses? or do you think it is “balanced” to have so many skills that have been nerfed, are broken, don’t perform as intended, been changed for no legit reason should also have more weakness like they are only allowed to have half a screen to play on?

“All professions can roll all roles.” Creating major weaknesses in any profession only undoes this original statement. You can have all professions able to perform all roles then say profession X is weak at playstyle Y. It is design concept they rolled with, now we all have to live with it. Breaking the trinity..yup, they broke it alright.

Ok I know this if off topic from the OP but why not just make it where when you consume a fractal skin that you get to choose which weapon you want unlocked?

They promised to implement this with the Fractured update, then after Fractured was released and we realised those Fractal Weapon Boxes weren’t in the game, they quickly told us they were for lvl 51+ only. GG.

I remember. Least we forget. At they did clean up dredge and bloomhunger AoE circles. This was a good move.

I agree with this, but a vendor for people who have stored excess skins so they trade them for a window of time. It would be particularly useful for squishy players who have gotten hammers and bows and stuff and stored them because they have not created a profession that use any of it.

Here’s the way I see thing happening if Cleansing Ire gets an ICD on cleanse:

1. Warriors become less popular for a while as people whine about how they have no cleansing options.

2. Some people adapt, realizing that they do, in fact, have cleansing options.

3. Several months later, the new “meta” builds incorporate some alternative cleansing options or admit to having a weakness to conditions.

4. People realize that actual weaknesses should exist in every build. If they don’t have actual weaknesses, they shouldn’t have actual strengths either.

Granted, step 4 will never happen with the vast majority, because they always want their own build to not have weaknesses.

But, given that the following exist for Warrior condition cleansing, but are never used because CI makes them unnecessary, saying “no other options” is flat-out false.

Charge: removes Cripple, Chill, and Immobilize
Mending (3 conditions removed, 20 second cooldown)
Signet of Stamina (all conditions removed, 45 second cooldown, useful passive to let you avoid applications more often)
“Shake it Off!” (1 condition removed AoE, stunbreak, 20 second cooldown, will remove Fear+1 condition)
Restorative Strength (activating a heal skill removes cripple, chill, immobilize, and weakness, applies before healing skill’s effects, so Mending removes those 4 plus 3 others)
Shrug it Off (automatic “Shake it Off!” when affected by 2 or more conditions)
Quick Breathing (Warhorn skills convert a condition to a boon)

If you’re that worried about conditions, you have options aplenty. Heck, 2 points in the Power line + Mending gives you a potential 7 condition cleanse on a 20 second cooldown. That’s insanely efficient.

All of these condition removals exist from beta weekend without cleansing ire. Warrior got eaten by conditions and were considered the weakest PvP profession. So if we return to pre cleansing ire era where warriors had ‘insanely efficient’ condition removal,…why were they being eaten alive by conditions and considered D-grade PvP profession? Why did they receive so many buffs in the first place?..Because the ‘insane efficiency’ you refer to just wasn’t efficient at all.

Repair kit was just the item chosen as an example to illustrate how inflation in game is affecting some goods/services in negative ways. Because of the recent massive raise in gems (12 gold=100 gems) This means lower ticket items, which were designed to be lower ticket items are now expensive items by default. (Repair kits now costs 5g to purchase the gems for and is a completely free service in the open world.) This shows negative aspects are forming in the trading post. A free service is now horrendously expensive to buy and store because the payment method for the service is not set in gold, but the currency used is floated and variable, which makes no sense. Even in real world economics there is the big mac index of which different countries can value their dollar by figuring out how much a big mac costs in their currency. The big mac is chosen because it tends to adhere to a fix price over time that is proportionally in line despite the currency differences.

For ANet to set fixed gold prices they would need to benefit from this. How would they benefit from selling you items with gold that they give you for playing? How would they earn real money from doing this?

Figure it out. You see it everyday in the real world. A set service or good being sold for a set price. Take a snickers bar for example or a can a coke.

Now say your response back to yourself;
“If coke sold a can of coke for a set price to a consumer, how would coke benefit from this?”

This is why coke sells their product at a set price, but their share price if you want to buy into coke is floated and variable.

Services in gem store such as repair kits should a set gold price. Variable items that will fluctuate according to demand because of limited time offers remain as gems. Just like you see in the real world.

Cleansing Ire

Cleansing ire is more to the opponents advantage than the wariors. Lately I have removed all condition cleansing. I have specc’ed entirely into full glass canon. These are typical results I see when I do this.

100B on ele=14k damage
evis on thief=9K
Whirlwind on warrior=6.5k

I literally only require an up front knockdown and the immunities provided by endure pain/berserker stance to plug out an enormous amount of damage. If your running under 18K health after a dose or 100b>whirlwind>rush>shield bash>evis you’re basically either in downstate, or so close to it that a couple more hits and your downed.

With hoelbrak runes that provides enough condition duration reduction to ensure 70% of the time I will get those last hits, even if they’re AA which will hot for approx 2k a pop.

Cleansing ire investment reduces warrior damage output by a significant amount.

Just food for thought. be careful what you wish for, you might just get it. Remove and/or alter cleansing ire and you’re just going to face full DPS builds that will specc for downing you in under 10 seconds and avoid any sort of sustained battles in favor of faceroll builds.

Ascended armor requires dragonite. Ascended armor is basically by design armor for fractals which allows AR infusions, yet no dragonite is rewarded in fractals.

Since wardrobe transmutation a player only needs to obtain one fractal skin in order for all character slots to use that skin. So any time a player receives the same fractal weapon skin twice it is redundant. It can’t be sold, traded, salvaged or given away. There should be a vendor which allows players to trade excess weapon skins for another.

Just some tips from a fractal player who keeps missing world events and is stuck trying to craft ascended armor for fractal use and keeps receiving fractal sword skins, even though I already have it.

Gold or gems. More people use gold and/or real world money to purchase gems. This pushes the price of gems up, even though the supply of gems is infinite. People use their gems to buy make over kits and all the things their heart desires. However this also raises the price of items where the demand for them is decreasing, or worst, are free in the virtual world.

When a single repair kit now costs 5 gold shows not all items in the gem store should be sold for gems, but a constant fixed gold price.

Smoke field= You stand it and you’re blinded. You range attack through it and you’re blinded. You melee in it and you’re blinded. You use brawlers recovery and you’re blinded. You AoE on it and you’re blinded. You reverse the conditions back onto the thief and you’re blinded. You use immunity to conditions and they stealth. One of the few perfect no counter skills in game. Mildly spammable.

You know you truly like a company when you love ’em and you hate them ’em at the same time. Love is madness. The one thing that entirely frustrates me in the balance of pvp is weapons. As one weapons stock is decreasing, another …well, is not increasing. The easiest way to spread the love is not just to adjust one weapon with nerfs, but also to increase the fun factor, playable nature and general direction of others so it presents an attractive alternative to the tried and trust go to sets.

The amount of times I have seen necro staff nerfed, but axe never get touched or hammer/longbow get nerfed but the obvious bugs in greatsword never get addressed and some weapons get nerfed so hard they get used again and others that have been nonfunctional to the point they were never widely used.

Players, come on..time to set the record straight. How can some weapons be changed for the better. Time for critical and constructive feedback. Nerfs every patch with no empowering to others to every single patch is only leading us back to gw1 where we should just have normalised health pools with preset armour ratings. Traits is one thing..but it’s time to adjust all those awkward or over nerfed weapons as a new source of change to the game. Discuss.

Non meta builds are too weak

Nerfed greatsword damage.
Nerfed axe damage.
Nerfed mace damage
Nerfed hammer multiple times
Nerfed longbow multiple times
= No development of any weapon, only nerfs.

Things to look forward to;
Nerf to sword..oh wait, it did get nerfed already
Nerf to rifle
Nerf to shield.

And yet it seems it can’t be understood why people still run hammer when it has been nerfed so much to “encourage” other weapon use.

PvP is not enjoyable, this meta is not fun.

I kinda see what you you’re trying to say. Certain aspects of this game have been nerfed, nerfed again, and nerfed once more for good form. Yet these same builds still get played. They lost no power because everyone else’s meta build also got nerfed, so the status quo exists. While certain builds/weapons did need adjusting, all other off meta weapons received nothing. I have never faced a duel mace warrior, and never will with the state mace is in. I do face some duel pistol thieves..and they’re playing out the condi card 100%. 99% of necro’s are terrormancer or minion..low chance of dagger, but never hybrid or off meta condi. Guardians either tank or meditation great sword.
I appreciate a-net added new skills. Some of them are pretty sweet in PvE, but in PvP the continued course of nerf hammer, nerf longbow, nerf thief sword, adjust passive skills, nerf hammer, nerf longbow, nerf thief sword with no buff this, or change that completely has resulted in 99% of encounters are the exact same ones you had yesterday and the day before that only with different names and places. There is no real “surprise” factor to engagements.
-I don’t see minions, they must be terrormancer..yup, they’re terror.
-Are they turret or decap?..they’re decap
-warrior coming..hambow or duel sword?..it’s a hambow
-Phantasm mesmer?..nope, there is the torch, they’re PU
-Ranger coming? spirit or traps?..either, that explains why they got owned so quick.
- what’s the guard up to?..wait, they’re meditation 100%
ele..wait, block..ride the lightning fail

It has become very predictable currently. Not blaming anyone, but predictable is the word I would use.

I myself run Soldier’s gear, because I like to do a lot of WvW and EoTM, and during 6 dungeon runs in the past week, everyone in the party has got downed by a powerful attack, except me, and ive had to run round reviving everyone.

Yes, you can dodge twice in roughly 15 seconds without Vigor…Then what?…If the boss decides they want to attack for a 3rd time in a row, you’re downed. Im seriously debating about refusing players with berserker’s stat armour from my dungeon groups, just because im sick of having to revive players who refuse to embrace a toughness stat.

That is not you dear fellow. That is level scaling. If everyone got downed, it is because they’re either level capped or new to dungeons. It matters not what your toughness is in fractals when you get over lvl 30. Just about all trash mobs can, and will one shot you despite your toughness and massive vit. Screen pollution and not being able to see what is happening only makes it worse. Not to mention most bosses reflection doesn’t work on now and blindness has been reduced on them to 10%..that’s why they died. Bad boss mechanics. Your toughness didn’t save you, luck did.

No-no..Us played power play teams with Iway, to whiuch EU teams quickly countered with Edenial teams. This lead to US forming weapon swap negative E reserves teams, which quickly got destroyed by the Asian nec saccer EoE bomb teams, which in turn soon got nerfed. Fractions was released and this shook everything up. US played heavy condi/hex splinter teams, and EU responded with derv melandru teams. There was also the crafty all mesmer fit out, but was only so-so good even on their best day. With nightfall it all shifted again with the US returning to power heavy yellowway teams and EU running assassin spike splinter teams. Soon after this it all settled for mirror teams which pretty much had everyone running mirror teams and the first team to make an error soon got out done by better team skill usage. This lead to rits being used to cover any mistake that could happen, and EU responded with ele blinding surge shut down on warrior….

See what happens when you don’t have actual GvG..nothing ever evolves. Just say’n.

Healing signet reduced by 8% passive remains unchanged, adrenal healing now scales with healing stat as well as adrenaline levels.

So the balancing of healing signet is now directly reliant upon using adrenal healing.

I got the fractal sword skin. A lot of my guild were a tad jealous about this. Next I hoped to land the longbow skin, instead i got torch. However I kept playing fractals. Then I got sword skin again. It is already in my wardrobe. I can’t use it, sell it or give it away. A vendor which allowed me to swap it would have been awesome and you just get open fractal weapon token. Then I can play for what it is I want, and not be burdened with stuff I already have, can’t sell, give away or use in any way.

This statement applies to all meta builds. For quite some time I became invested in playing off meta builds. After playing round for ages I went back to a simple meta build just to change things up. The change was instant. Too many nerfs aimed at what people QQ the most, not enough development to other aspects that would make them more viable. Warrior illustrates the issue the most. Hammer/longbow vs Great sword/axe-shield. Both builds are good, however one is far more straight forward and bug/pathing issue free, so therefore it will win far more often no matter how averagely it is played against how well played great sword was played. Waiting for the meta to settle actually only entrenches it further.

Ferrari. Speicifically built car. High performance. Extremely fast off of mark. Extremely fast over short distances. High maintenance. Small fuel reserves.

1964 hemi big blacl anything. Solid performance. Slowish off the mark. Respectable speed over shot distances. Lower maintenance. Large fuel reserves. Extremely fast over long distances.

Which one is faster?

Purely depends over which distances you choose to measure them. Guardian has high damage off the mark, very little else behind it. Warrior has ok damage off the mark, but builds up to massive damage and has a lot more staying power behind it. Better armor, better health, better coefficients, better movement. If you want High melee DPS..stick with warrior. Guardian starts well but finishes badly and heavily relies upon your target making multiple mistakes.

If you don’t like zerker gear, then you don’t like gw2. There is no other option. Conditions are painfully slow. You can’t control major bosses so control builds are pointless and support builds, despite offering regen,protection, aegis etc still can’t prevent a Boss foe type from one hit knockouts which also makes them subpar. As for healing, with forced equipped healing slots and poor healing coefficients, well it is just not worth the investment. As another player accurately pointed out in gw2, “Death is the best debuff.” All roads leading to Rome should be directed at anything that destroys targets quickly, because everything else is just so lack luster at doing anything useful or purposeful.

I think black powder is more of an issue. Blinds all stomp defense and any team mate seeking to pull/push/KD/stun the thief from stomping also become blinded as well. As far as I am aware it is the hard counter to all down state defense. Instantly repeatable if enough initiative is available. I am not sure if it needs to be nerfed, it is just one of those things. One smoke ring to rule them all.

What is the point of a game if not to have fun and have interaction with friends? If two friends want to PvP their only option currently is find 3 more people who may, or may not be concerned with whether it is friendly or competitive. Spend money to create a custom a server where you and them may wait on the same side indefinitely for 2 other people to potentially join or not. Hope someone else has a custom arena where the 2 of you can join.

When you make it impossible for 2 people to play together in the most casual setting of Pvp, you have pretty much forgotten what gaming is all about.

Guardian higher dps than Warriors?

They have good DPS in certain builds. However they lack a lot of the back ground tools warriors have. I personally like the guardian DPS. I don’t play it, but I started this game on Guard, so therefore it has a soft spot for me. Some people ace the build better than others and can appear unstoppable at first, however after 20ish seconds if you survive the initial onslaught you soon see they lack the follow thru of warriors. It is like comparing a modern car to a muscle car. One may be quick of the mark, but over a 100 mile distance the muscle car will win kinda thing.

unless you spam a fast hitting ability when it’s active, it’s not going to wreck you. Play smart.

Just love when ppl say this.. Because you know, everyone always applies retal before you begin fast hitting abilities.

If they do it after you start your rapid attack, it is called being outplayed on a micro scale. If there was a problem, it would be near 100% uptime without doing anything, not actively using it.

Spiked armor=proc’s on crit hit for 5 seconds..so technically, yeah..they do use it immediately upon your rapid channeled attacks.

Necro wells/marks.

I can’t remember the name of the company, but they rent server space by proxy. You can become a member and when you login to games run them through their servers. On average from people who I know have used it, it has dropped their ping about 250ms. Apart from that avoid playing wireless. Maybe clear the ports to gw2.exe if you haven’t already. Perhaps invest in new router. Look at what is running in the background. All these things will help.

It is the only boon in game that gives blurred frenzy mesmers a reason to stop and think. Anything else they can disregard, however if they don’t check for retaliation their channeled spike can backfire. The same goes for duel pistol thieve’s. if you see it, its up to you to cancel your attack.

I sincerely believe necro is currently in a good place. Not a great place, but a good place. A number of skills should be partially reverted now that dhuumfire is a death shroud focused skill, but the biggest issue is ‘Immune-immune-immune.’ As someone who plays multiple alts I have a fair idea of what to expect from professions and what to expected from a number of en vogue builds. It is always disappointing when you see a warrior being played very badly still get the upper hand on you because -immune-immune-immune-bad play-bad play- huge crit hit and all their conditions gone at the same time. In my last match there w as pistol whip thief sporting the title of reaper. I found them easier to deal with than the lvl 8 rabbit ranked warrior using a standard meta power build with shield/axe-longbow. It was just how forgiving their build was in moments of where they had nothing particularly special going for them, yet that out did purposeful condition stacking and control. I am not trying to point out warrior specifically, just the ever increasing amount of stealth and immunity.
