I use TFGH instead of WASD giving access to more buttons, 45678 instead of 12345. Lets you play with better access and I use D as my weapon swap.
I really enjoyed the game mode, I do think there should be some extra incentive to kill players (longer respawn timer maybe?). Lots of fun and I think there is scope for depth.
The timer finishing the game on points alone isn’t particularly satisfying at times though – some way to count Lord damage as more important or forcing VoD? (Just lost a game where if the game had gone on for 10secs more it would have been won and our team still had the Lord room sealed)
Making the heroes have more predictable behaviour would be nice too – once got a hero to a door and he suddenly went after a player and ran in circles insead of attacking the door (not sure if a bug).
Will be interesting to see how it goes once efforts are made to game it properly.
Missing Closed Beta Invitation Compensation

Not saying Anet doesnt owe you anything for grinding to get that portal, but a Precursor much a Legendary is a bit much. How about an ascended jewelry piece, since they already hand those like candy nowadays.
Please stop suggesting he should be given something xD
On crit sigils aren’t random at all that’s the problem. They never miss by design unlike doom/leeching (much like incendiary powder, chill of death, and panic strike) giving them 0 counter-play. They are just BIS for dps in pvp.
If you play a build that they actually are random (soldier) they simply aren’t worth slotting at all because the payoff when they do proc isn’t worth it.
I might be confused.
Isnt
(crit) -> (Sigil doesnt proc) -> (normal crit dps) = considered a miss by design?
because as long as that happens its like you dont have sigils on.
I can guarantee my sigil of doom will hit if I have a stun skill, count dodges, and/or have burned opponents evades.
You’re thinking of it the wrong way, with other skills a “Miss” puts the skill on CD meaning it CANNOT hit for the next Xsecs, this is not how proc sigils work.
He still has a job because the queen isn’t dead yet.
She keeps dropping not so subtle hints to get him to sod off, I mean she is the most powerful Mesmer on Tyria I don’t think there’s much he can do to help her anyway xD Plus Anise is always there too… Logan is kinda redundant.
Really they should have traits available via WvW badges and PvP rewards sort of like they did in GW1.
There is no reason a player who only enjoys PVP or WvW should be forced to PVE to be competitive in the game, each game mode should be playable in it’s own right rather than trying to force people to do something they find unenjoyable due to the very different play styles of the players in the different game modes. There is no point in punishing players simply because they have different playstyles. No one forces PvE players to go WvW or pvp, so they should not be trying to do the same to those who only enjoy the other game modes as well. It is great when a person enjoys all game modes, but that should not be forced upon those who do not.
You can buy traits in HotM from the profession vendors (either PvP only unlock or PvE unlock).
I generally just play 1 character so I enjoyed the idea of “go out and find traits” BUT it made leveling alts just a bore with lack of access to fun/useful traits (even going for them involved running to the other side of the world to find the event required was 2hrs from starting or something like that).
I think the base level traits might be best with unlock through skill points but maybe the elite specs done through exploration? Dunno I like bits of both but I really felt annoyed when I was low level without access to all the WPs and traitless in the current system.
That’s why it’s called burst.
I just want everyone to read over and over this sentence was in reply to Auto Attack damage. That is all.
I’m somewhat suprised that the immediate reaction to the possibility of inter-species couples was something along the lines of “but what about teh smexy times, amirite?” which is a bit, well, shortsighted.
You don’t have to shag someone to have an intimate relationship with them.
In fact, I’d love to see more inter-species families. Because there are very few bonds greater than that of child and (biological or non-biological) parent.
Actually sex is a very important part of intimate relationships.
Watched a Wooden Potatoes video the other day where you summoned Mursaat to exterminate the “Bring Back the Mursaat” protesters (giving them what they wanted ofc). Was a cool thing to do. Very excited for the return of the Unseen Ones.
How’s your frog?
Not having Sigils such as the ones listed would only further encourage builds similar to the cele meta and other bunker builds and at that point you wouldn’t even have the DPS to ever kill them.
It would be ideas like this that would hammer the final nail into that coffin that is the pvp scene in GW2 atm.
People want Cele and Sigils to be nerf’d together… Stop pretending people just want Sigils nerf’d alone.
4k Auto Attacks or single ticks of Smite or 6k teleports are not good for the game when a very small percentage of that damage comes from the skills. You cannot put a proc on CD with avoidance.
Mesmer with GS and Fire+Air uses auto attack – hits for 4k. Uses iZerker you dodge it, uses mirrblade you dodge it. Auto attacks again twice – hits for 5.3k. You’ve just taken 9.3k from auto attack… Only 35% of the damage came from the Mesmer. Explain why this is ok.
Rubbing up against a sylvari would probably hurt – bark scratches and scrapes. Gremlins would probably be split in half by most of the other races. Cat kittenes are barbed – wonder if Charr have that.
No breeding would occur obviously but there’s no reason they couldn’t still do stuff – over looking the possible physical discomfort features above.
it’s why you have like force sigils wich in a way you could say proc always, like you want
and air for example does more damage even then force but downside is…it’s abit of rng (btw air procs alot…le prob=?) added to that you can combine force and air…i’d say we been dodging quite abit already….I think you slowly start to realise you’re talking jibberish….sigil system is awesome
You obviously don’t avoid any attacks if you think Air and Force are even slightly comparable..
Really doesn’t change what I said. That it to say, they’re targeting the millennials because they now play. They probably weren’t, wouldn’t have been playing, at least not enough of them, if the industry hadn’t changed in the first place. It’s a chicken and egg thing.
When it was a very niche market, there was less point in milking it. There were already too many barriers to entry.
uh no, it’s all about RMT item shops and who are most vulnerable, a whole marketing science behind it. I’m not just pulling this stuff out of my butt or whatever, I mentioned where you can research this if you dare (imo it’s bleak), it’s no hidden secret in developer communities. You see, people like me, having had time to develop the part of my brain that manages money effectively, well are not the target. But young impulsive financially-undeveloped people are. In fact kids today are probably more vulnerable than ever, just like illiteracy rate is higher than ever before etc.
But not dogging on anet here, they’re gem store stuff isn’t really geared for instant win spending. All the dirty tricks you mostly find in pure f2p models, often the cartoony sort especially. But what the gem store is geared for here is mostly cosmetic purchases (hence fast leveling in a themepark), although the bl key gambling has been a hot button issue for many, and even rather blatantly as the ui functions like a slot machine. They have played the line, but doesn’t seem to work for them with active players bleeding away, many of those being adults looking for less rmt and more challenge. Something they seem to be trying to address with HoT being a more traditional paid expansion and “more challenging”.
South Park did a fun episode on it. GW2 is not really a bad culprit though – I’ve bought everything I’ve ever wanted from the gemstore and only once bought gems with irl money (for extra bag and char slot at launch).
Children who are impulsive should not have parents giving them access to their credit card so freely and adults with no control at least aren’t spending it on booze and hookers.
I would hope GW2 does release more challenging PvE content with HoT too.
People dislike the tone of those asking for zerker to be removed. Zerker is merely the most efficient way to play and people not using it (because they die too fast in it) want it removed so they can then be in the “I’m wearing the best armour” team.
If Anet make the game more varied and rewarding for multiple gear sets I have no issue with that BUT it requires better encounter and AI design, NOT just nerfing zerker which is what the idiots ask for..
There will always be a “best” set of armour for each encounter – LK Heroic NEEDED a Disc Priest etc. In GW2 that means “does best dps while survivng the encounter” this currently is ALWAYS zerker (unless the target can’t be crit – even then they often have mobs that can around them). Changing that should be changing the encounters and I hope they do good things in HoT.
Zerker user with multiple armour sets.
Are people upset that there is a list of functional builds on the internet and people can go there and see them? xD Wow.. Almost as bad as the “TS is unethical” guy.
Ur sidelining my argument.. My problem isn’t so much metabattle as it is the fact a dev would sooner reccomend the website rather than balancing the game so newbies don’t have to play passive cheese to feel as if they are playing well…
I’m not sidelining your argument, I’m belittling it. Metabattle is a resource that changes with the meta – what youre saying is “Don’t tell them about the library until it stocks books I like.”
Are people upset that there is a list of functional builds on the internet and people can go there and see them? xD Wow.. Almost as bad as the “TS is unethical” guy.
This is your view after only 120 hrs ive been playing for over 3k hrs and I took a break of a year so some players will be on 6k and still enjoying it gw2 is a strange place that you can enjoy all if you chose or non.
The last bit of your post is your answer its not a game to be hardcore in its a game to enjoy at your leisure.
IF! you want the best gear ect you will need to work at it a little. Or non if you want to buy it with gold / buying gems, and in turn that keeps the game going for other players.
I did notice that you didn’t put WvW maybe what your looking for is there, if your not on server that dose alot of wvw sorry! as for gvg that is also in wvw but you will need to look for it your self and find a guild on your server that dose it.
Like I said after only 120 hrs your just starting out in the game and maybe even change server a time or too b4 you find a place that fills your needs
I didn’t list WvW because WvW has nothing for me to say. It’s perfect.
Yes, I know I haven’t seen much. It’s just my current view about the game.
Well you’ve answered all your own fears, you have a part of the game that is perfect for you. Other parts are what other people like – though I think we can all agree on needing some good PvE encounters (but I heard they got a Raid Dev so maybe thats on the cards).
Did someone say TS was unethical? xD
kitten sbow ^^
I think the point is you need to predict power damage attack but you can see when you have tons of condis on you and so it would ignore the prediction element if you could just turn all that ticking damage into health.
Though I agree the new heals are mostly useless (except for a few pve things).
The debate about gold vs material sink seems mainly to be a microeconomics vs macroeconomics distinction to me.
No, it’s a distinction between between an economic use of the term and an ignorant use of the term.
The forge is, if anything, a material sink – which has the exact opposite effect on inflation and prices as a gold sink. It is not some minor, pedantic difference in terminology.
If you want to be specific about it, you’d think of it as a collection of production functions that in the aggregate create value through the transformation of goods while linking (and thus restraining) the prices of different goods – specifically it holds down the price of high value goods while raising the price of low value commodities that get thrown into the forge, as the two are linked through a production function.
That has 2nd order effects as it induces economic activity around it which is taxed (and sinks gold), but it has a minimal 1st order effect (wine).
You’re ignoring the random set of outcomes. The churn of 4 Rare GS = 1 Rare GS is significant. Its not just linking low and high value items. Its not just a factory its a casino.
(edited by Coulter.2315)
All the items thrown into the forge have a sale price to vendors, new gold is put into the game when you sell to merchants. By throwing in the forge instead you will reduce the amount of new gold in game.
Its also a way of removing things players get from playing the game, indirectly increasing other objects value on the TP and increasing taxes.
It also increases player desire to buy things on TP, removing more gold.
Its a gold sink.
Them nerfing preloading s3 dumbed down s/d… what a glorious fabrication you have crafted.
Forcing an enemy player towards your return point took positioning. preloading larc strike + return took timing (as you had to time when he would dodge roll past the circle). Them adding a Cd on return dumbed it down even more. instead of using your return for medium/short range it forced every thieve to set there return point at long range and use the “In/out” fighting style you see now.and the reason it was nerfed was due to port stomping not because you could “preload”
don’t try and justfify one of the dumbest changes on the thieve class. you do realize this game targets casual players, that means the player base is pretty much a revolving door. new player’s don’t understand basic thief mechanics and they whine on the forum. which gave you the appearance that it was “rightfully” nerfed. i guess the counter of “walking in the other direction” was to complicated for some people.
… What kind of ridiculous things are you saying xD You pushed 3 miles away and then pushed 3 and Steal… This did not require skill.
Look for the number of threads that stay front page for a long time if you want to see issues that stick and lots of people want changed. Yes you’ll see lots of random cries about nothing BUT you shouldn’t think that continuous complaint about issues aren’t reasoned and rational.
SD Thief when Sword #2 was a stunbreak, 2 condi removes, Sword #3 could be loaded preport. Was complained about for a long time and deservedly so.
Turret Engi was warping the format utterly.
Sigils (still waiting on action here -.-’).
Dhuumfire.
These things all stayed front page with multiple threads for a long time and for good reason. Anet moved pretty slow on all except Turrets. People tend to get upset because it feels like they are screaming into the void, then Anet does make a change but by then people are so exhausted and fed up that Anet doesn’t get the credit for the change. I sympathise with Anet though because they can’t say “we’re looking into it” for everything because then people expect action and they have other time tables to consider.
People post on the forums because they care, lots of what people care about is nonsense and can be ignored BUT when lots of people hate the same thing for a long period it would be nice for a small response (tbf they did say they noticed the Turret thing and acted swiftly after).
Its possibly the same number of Premades just with fewer Singles.
Fewer singles?
Oh noes. I better photoshop my profile pic on match.com to look 80lbs thinner.
Competition seem very high with fewer singles around.

Isn’t this just the custom arena menu with info on who is inside? It cannot be used in place of the queue algorithm because (no matter how flawed people think) it doesn’t take the MMR of the participants into consideration.
Also it forces the player to make the decision to enter the room – this means any new person who isn’t very good has forced themselves onto their team. Letting the automated system and Anet take a lot of the spite people have for being in a team with a new person is a better system than having all that hate fired at the person. Sometimes reducing individual agency is good (reduces the blame they face).
Adding icons to custom arena to say who is inside is fine but it cannot replace our queue system (also I’m not sure its worth the effort). I’d prefer Observer mode to generate the community spirit that the game could use (this was a massive hit in GW1 and really did wonders for the pvp community – twitch is not enough, you can tell from the views).
No it isn’t to replace it, it is to accompany it. So it can find people who are in a queue and possibly add them. Its all theory based so.
Yeah I agree with the observer mode.
Are you suggesting it as an addition to Ranked/Unranked Queue system? Its not a good addition to Ranked/Unranked (as I explained above).
Also if you were around for when the Vinewrath was released in Silverwastes you will have seen what the menu would look like (instant pop and disappearing servers you need to just spam at and get lucky).
Its possibly the same number of Premades just with fewer Singles.

The biggest issue being complained about is the RNG of Fire/Air procs. They are saying that “we don’t know when it’s going to happen so there is no counter-play” and “It is taking control away from us”. How is this any different than knowing or not knowing when a Necromancer will pop Lich? or maybe when an Engi will drop his crate? or maybe when you will be Moa’d? Consider this question.
Consider that maybe Fire/Air sigils are not as RNG as people seem to think. I mean it really is pretty easy to figure out, very simple:
- Fire goes off just about every 5s with reasonable precision
- Air goes off just about every 3s with reasonable precision
- They cannot go off twice before their timers are up.
How is this any different than if I patched the game myself to stop the complaining about RNG and made them function as this:
- Fire will go off in the first swing crit or no crit, with 5s recharge
- Air will go off in the first swing, crit or no crit, with 3s recharge
- Completely predictable but yet virtually the same frequency as critical based procs.
I think what people are really complaining about, is the DPS values on these procs, not the RNG. Because when you really evaluate this, the RNG isn’t really very RNG’ish at all. The very first time you play a serk build with Fire/Air it’s pretty noticeable that the procs are reliable and predictable. That is why people use them to begin with. They are reliable DPS. That pretty much means that they aren’t random at all.
So what is causing this debate? People getting mad that they can’t easily dodge or avoid the DPS. Well let me once again point out that there is a lot of DPS in this game that isn’t very easily dodged rolled or avoided. That is the point of toughness/vitality/blocking/damage mitigation, ect.. ect.. I’d also like to point out that these same players who feel like they are “losing control to RNG” will still be losing control to RNG if/when fire/air was completely removed. You’re still going to lose to the same players that are beating you now.
You seem to be forgetting that a 600 port or ticking damage crit gets 2.4k added to it… A 1k auto attack gets 2.4k added to it… The point is if you avoid all their damaging skills the sigils pick up the difference. You are losing control of the fight because the weapon skills damage and cast time and ease of hit balance is being thrown out the window by the sigils.
The reason people say “its random” is because they avoided all the skills Anet designed to have counterplay but get hit by a random tiny packet of damage that SHOULDN’T be a threat (and was designed around that fact) suddenly can cause their death.
Also all the skills you mentioned up the top have counter play to them, dont try and list obviously avoidable things and claim any link to sigils xD
Now they just need to make healing power cause bigger critz – gogo!
PvP Queues used to allow you to go to the dueling arenas and play/watch there while you waited – now we just hang around HotM (this is not ideal). Dueling being reintroduced in some way would be nice – I don’t mind how its done be it accessing Custom Arenas in queue again or just available through some open world system.
Inspections are a more difficult thing to add in – it certainly does let you cut out people who are running around in awful gear/trait setups but GW2 atm doesn’t have any real requirements anyway (no boss enrages or encounters in which your gear makes any difference at all), except Fractals level 50 (which you don’t need inspect for anyway cause the first application of Agony will tell you if they have 70 AR).
Tbh I don’t think Anet want to add inspect but I think they could be convinced to add duels (even if just in designated locations).
Actually skills which shadowstep you draw their path when you’re on the ground, other skills likely do this same thing when deciding if you can “hit” something. This is why you need to be in contact with the floor when starting an action.
You know that Gold → Gems is a kind of gold sink for the wider economy right? xD
Could somebody please explain the supply and demand thing to me regarding gems please as i many be wrong but if gem prices are based on supply and demand then the cost would surely be the same.
Also supply and demand would surely only truly happen if players sold and bought with other players no?
I may be wrong but when gems are sold are they not sold back to anet? Because if not then there must be players buying gems at the “sell” rate no?
So I must be right by assuming anet buy them cheap and sell them high.
I admit I don’t fully understand the anet system on gems, but my points are economically valid I feel.
Imagine each time a players buys Gems with in game Gold the price of “1 Gem” goes up by 1 copper and each time someone sell their Gems for Gold the price of “1 Gem” drops by 1 copper (it’ll be more complicated than this).
This describes the relationship :
Lots of players using their Gold to buy Gems = increased demend for Gems = increased price.
Lots of players selling their Gems for Gold = increased supply of Gems = price goes down.
As expected people are more likely to use in game gold to buy gems and hence its gone up over time. Remember “Gems” are just an imaginary thing designed to look like there is a market (ANet aren’t actually mining for them).

Does that mean Cola = Pop ? :o
What was the topic again? xD

I could care less about WVW

Honestly cant tell what the point of that was.
Saying ‘could’ care less means that you care, but have the capacity to care less, ’couldn’t’ care less means you’ve bottomed out with interests and have no lower to go.
“I could care less” is actually correct grammar. It’s the American way of using the phrase “I couldn’t care less”. It’s no less wrong than writing color over colour or honor over honour.
Thats where you’re wrong, its a logical thing not a spelling thing or grammar thing.
“I could care less” = I care at least a bit (because you could care less)
“I couldn’t care less” = I don’t care at all <— this is what you mean
It would be helpful if you could tell the rest of America to get on board – thanks ^^

I fully support and would love spectator mode for GW2 – make it happen! ^^
I’ll agree to support getting rid of chill of death since that’s what every complaint seems to be about these days if we do something about getting insta killed from stealth, unkillable condition clearing warriors, infinite block mediguards, 2100 range pew pew rangers, infinite dodge theives, celestial rifle engis, moa, celestial elementalists, fresh air eles.
Unless of course necro is just meant to be the one without that little something special because right now chill of death is pretty much all we got.
Well tbh nerfing Sigils would stop most of those builds being as powerful as they are.. I was going to type more but I think thats enough as long as the reader just goes through them all and imagines them with all Swap and Proc Sigils sharing CD again.
Its not a balance issue though, its a lack of MH Ranged option.
Scepter, and indirect Greatsword and Staff though these ofc lock you into a pseudo-offhand.
Yes, I know, is a condi weapon. And condition has no melee weapon, yes. And in theory I’d easily want all weapns but for now I’d be mighty happy with actually having a (functional) melee weapon for power in the first place, not the sword we have right now. And have the Scepter be less terrible.
Its not the fact its just a condi weapon, its because its very poorly designed – incredibly slow animations that make it so clunky and worthless for landing pressure on PvP targets. I would be happy with a revamp to scepter but my point remains that atm we have a SINGLE viable mainhand to pair with an offhand – this must change.
Sigils and Runes have warped the game for a very long time now, I just hope these threads eventually get through to devs. The damage cannot be avoided and for any game thats meant to be about dodging and animations they make a mockery of it.
Please deal with this now, just lock the recharges as was – bring back people choosing 1 swap or proc and 1 base Sigil. Cele may need nerf’d at the same time.
Wont happen :P
Silence whelp!! Lyssa confound you!
Ebon Vanguard Shield ^^
But that’s “just” a balance issue, isn’kitten Sword needs to be rebalanced, and we all know that. Why heap another, probably unbalanced, weapon on top?
Its not a balance issue though, its a lack of MH Ranged option.
So what are you going to do when you want to use 2 different offhands and playing power?
Eh… as the name implies, you can only use one offhand. At a time. You can’t DW offhand items.
Or if you meant having two weapon sets with different offhands, do this:
1st set
- MH: Sword
- OH: Focus
2nd set
- MH: empty
- OH: Sword
That’ll automatically use your first set’s item in the second set, since the slot isn’t used there.
My point was MH+OH/MH+OH, you cannot run Sword as your only MH weapon in PvP (I mean “cannot” in the sense it would be certain death) and Scepter is awful. Thats the shame of Mesmer – some of the best offhands in the game but you can only run 1 at a time… And they gave us another offhand.
Sigils and Runes have warped the game for a very long time now, I just hope these threads eventually get through to devs. The damage cannot be avoided and for any game thats meant to be about dodging and animations they make a mockery of it.

Yer a new mainhand for “different playstyle” would have gone a long way.
True, but a shield is awesome and we already got one power-centric MH and a condi-centric MH.
Rather buff/fix existent options than add new ones, at least right now. What we need is weekly~biweekly balance changes, not more stuff to balance but then only once a year as now.
So what are you going to do when you want to use 2 different offhands and playing power?
Yer a new mainhand for “different playstyle” would have gone a long way.
Resistance, Quickness and (Alacrity?)?
the guy that runs in for the cap gets the points, where I just fought 4 ppl and kiled 3 of them on that same node!
If you killed 3 of them then you got points, also points don’t matter.
and air for example does more damage even then force but downside is…it’s abit of rng (btw air procs alot…le prob=?) added to that you can combine force and air…i’d say we been dodging quite abit already….I think you slowly start to realise you’re talking jibberish….sigil system is awesome
