I think you can change the Juggernaut look quite significantly with the refractors (no blue one atm).

Expensive but an option.
I would suggest you wait until you’ve tried the balance patch on Tuesday – massive overhaul of traits.
Shatter blinds now too (Dueling Major), we will cause soooo much blind after the update – its worrying actually.
Mind Stab dem Refuges mwahahaahaahaaa. Still not a good idea.
Guys this stink you’ve made over essentially nothing (its £5 you’re screaming about and new players getting something free) could really damage the company now… Stop it.
Guild Wars has been an excellent franchise for 10 years, don’t drag it through the mud because you ‘feel’ you’re owed something more (again this something more is TINY). Its not worth the damage.
You have played the game for up to 3 years, LS1 (new people cannot play), LS2 (new people must pay), got a level 80 ready to jump into the new content, have in game financial headstart on the new people. Old players are not subsidising new ones – new ones are just not being asked to pay for the core game (which they are getting 3yrs late).
They haven’t announced enough to get you to preorder – thats entirely logical and fine – you don’t then cause such an outcry that its being covered by the media (its the outcry they are covering not the preorder).
Again the extra char slot is £5 is it worth the damage of the Guild Wars name? When people google “GW2” you know what they’ll see? Lots of screaming from people and they’ll be put off… This is bad for the game.
Think more long term than £5, the shock and damage to the Guild Wars reputation as a good game – and it is, look how many people are posting so passionately – will really hurt its future. I hope no one here would want that.
I want to repeat to you something I’ve said in another thread. ANet has no moral duty to us, and their past actions have proven that they feel no need to act as if they do. We, likewise, have no moral duty to them.
If a company messes up enough to kitten off customers and lose business due to the bad press, then that’s what they’ve earned. It is the business’s job to keep itself afloat, not the customers’. If they sink, they sink. It’s not like they’ll be the first game devs ever to find themselves unemployed.
Please note that I say this as someone that will most likely buy the expansion fairly soon. I have character slots set aside for the new class as well, as I didn’t want to rely on getting a free one. The price is at the upper end of what I consider acceptable, though I did expect them to do a better job of defending the price if it was that high.
I would be upset, as would everyone who has posted on these forums making any argument, if Guild Wars suffered because of something so small. Moral duty doesn’t need to feature, just desire to keep something important to us in a good position.
My mum used to give my sister and I a small gift on each others’ birthdays when we were young.
The game will be good, try to get past the tiny disappointment that you didn’t get a present. We should be excited as a community this mess is very depressing. Hope you all feel better – just try to keep it in perspective.
Not providing a character slot in an expansion that adds a new class, is kittening the playerbase, whichever way you spin it.
Not even counting the other 2 issues:
- expansion is very light on content for $50/bad value
- old players effectively subsidising new players/old players getting kittened overYou have played the game for up to 3 years, LS1 (new people cannot play), LS2 (new people must pay), got a level 80 ready to jump into the new content, have in game financial headstart on the new people. Maybe a swift kick in the kitten is what they need to get the message that their customers deserve at least their respect. They are making a VERY large portion of their customers feel bad when thinking about something that should be exciting. Not addressing that and finding a way to make us feel better about our purchase is extremely disappointing. I’m less angry than I am disappointed that my FAVORITE mmo makers are making me feel like they are trying to squeeze every dime from me as they can while showing us very little of what is going to come in return.
Your complaint then is that they opened the preorder too early before you’d seen more of the game, they wanted to do it on a big stage and I guess the timing backfired a little. They aren’t trying to squeeze every dime from you they are releasing the game at market rates. They haven’t made a bad Guild Wars title yet so have a little faith and don’t preorder until they satisfy you (even wait until after launch and you see a trusted review).
People have been swept up in a wave of emotion over very small issues (no extra presents for preordering). It is just a marketting choice (arguably the wrong one) but not worth the bad press for OUR game.

How about you point your little finger at Anet? They’re the ones not giving existing customers value for money. They had 3 days to adress it, and have remained silent.
This is a situation of their making. Loyalty is earned, not given.
If you could give an example of a Guild Wars product in the last 10 years that hasn’t been worth the box price I’ll stop. Since you won’t be able to THAT earned loyalty – good products consistantly (not some extra fluff for launch).

They have been over buffing the classes, it might be a possibility this is in coordination with removing sigils and runes :P Seems unlikely but hopefully they will balance them somehow at the same time.
Good idea, guilds are transient things at the moment and its good they are making efforts to solidify them. Good for the system and community. AND first step to spectator mode? (GW1 flagged matches of the top 100 guild games for people to observe – having this system in place lets there be a top 100 guilds)
I appreciate the comment, but this thread isn’t about whether or not the pre-purchase is worth it, justified, needs revision, or any of that. It’s about the emerging (false) narrative that this controversy is being pushed by an ignorant, angry, self-entitled, hate mob. The truth is simply that people are upset and have voiced their concerns, albeit loudly.
Tbf I didn’t say anything for the first few days but people went nuts, they were a crazed mob. They’ve calmed down a little now but saying there weren’t masses of ignorant, angry, self-entitled, hatefilled people would be willful blindness.
But I think ANet should perhaps compensate for players that have been playing for, say, less than a year, or players that bought the game after the HoT announcement.
This I agree with.Pretty much anyone who bought core/base game, post HoT announcement.
You can now wait until the exp is released without paying now to spread the cost over more time. You’re in an awkward situation I’m just trying to find a reasonable solution. Also (I realise you aren’t in this camp) I think they put the original game on sale for £7 during time between the HoT announcement and now.
@ olTThreelo You’re absolutely right, I play GW not lots of other games. I’m just saying that this specific company that makes the specific game we’re talking about hasn’t given poor value for money yet.
@Xeo As I said there will always be some people who end up the wrong side of the price/product change, type /age and see what your money has been worth.
Like I said and many others said on other threads, the group I’m in are in the worst situation (full price for ~month and now another $50 straight up).
I agree but do you think that all this noise on the forums is created by people in your position? (This is why I asked the question in my first post) I think you have a right to be irritated but this gigantic uproar is not from people like you, its from humans who like to feel they are doing something (anything) with fervor. They are being overdramatic and thats all I was posting about.

I would agree but that sounds like quite a lot of work (it would need to simulate a hit, check for crit, if yes put proc on CD while registering a miss, evade, invuln).
Something must be done though.
I’ve played Guild Wars since the first game’s launch and I like the franchise, the products are always worth the money Anet charge and I have enjoyed all of them. None of us know what the full expansion will contain but I see no reason to go nuts and claim “its not worth it!” or “I’ve been tricked” when the company has come through in the past.
I don’t understand whats happened to the debate here. You seem to all have latched onto a FAQ change, did you all buy your first copy of the game 2 weeks ago? We still don’t know when the release date is and if its still a long way off even those players who bought recently will have had enough play time to justify the purchase. There will always be a number of people who get screwed when something changes value (you know the stock market basicly functions like this).
1. New players get a benefit (this is good for the game – though people seem to enjoy jealousy so they could have sweetened it with existing players get 1 free char slot imo)
2. Its a preorder – don’t get it if you haven’t been sold yet.
3. Its £35 and your money, spend how you want to but I would guess its going to be value for money given most MMO players play time in game.
4. There will be Mursaat.
From reading a lot of posts people seem to have poured a lot of passion into feeling something about the preorder, why are you so emotional? I think people need to calm down and realise there is no ticking clock on buying it and if you aren’t satisfied yet just wait. You haven’t been tricked they are just promoting a new offer on how to buy the game, buy one get one free for shampoo one week does not mean last week’s purchasers have been scammed.
I’m saying adding those should be aside from the expansion, on earlier or later date. Like the LS was. Releasing it now, after what I hear 3 years of nothing new, only states they won’t add such content if they don’t expect immediate compensation for it. At least that’s my impression.
I’m guessing you’re completely forgetting about EotM then? And new PvE maps? And Fractals? And the SPvP maps?
Regardless of whether you like them or not, these were all added way, way before ‘expecting immediate compensation’ in the form of the expansion.
Well, that was then. Now is now. Things aren’t really improving in company-client relationships since then, are they?
Anyway, releasing new maps and content accessible for all not at the same date as content available only after paying was a good practice. And that’s all that is to read in my post. Don’t blow it out of proportions.
You pushed a lot of buttons, just type “I retract my previous post” next time.
Hey Enis, I’m sorry but I can’t support Guard getting a ground targetted Blink it just would give them too much utility. Its just not a good idea to allow Guards to Blink from any angle (offense or defense), I’m sure Guards would enjoy it but it wouldn’t keep the class balanced.
The other requests seem reasonable though.
The traits are all more worthy of taking now, they have made every choice valid and have cut the pointless rubbish. You have more valid choices now just less pointless choices. Its a better move for diversity not worse.
This not entirely true. You have less choices and flexibility now. Less pointless choices, which you can’t avoid while being lock into a line, just because you want to get a specific useful trait in that line. I wouldn’t call it better move for diversity. It’s a better move to dumb down the traits, less complicated for the simple minded. Just like when they dumb down leveling, NPE. Not only this, the nerf bats that come with this new system is enormous, just to poor salt into the wound.
Old example, say you’re a Necro from a few years back and you want to take Dhuumfire you then are forced to take the 2 “least worst” options in Adept and Master – now because of the combining of traits and several useful choices at each level you now can get better options. Thats before I even mention Mesmers getting IP as baseline (a MASSIVE freedom), all classes getting 1/2 their bottom line effect and more.
The removal of redundant traits and the enpowering of all choices gives you more choice. Yes it makes it harder to make a bad choice but is that really “flexibility?”
The traits are all more worthy of taking now, they have made every choice valid and have cut the pointless rubbish. You have more valid choices now just less pointless choices. Its a better move for diversity not worse.
Astounding changes with so many massive traits (Phantasmal Defender on blocking/evading xD) and I see you finally went for Mesmer Scepter clunkiness gj (be ready to nerf this weapon though – you over buffed it to compensate before).
Very exciting time with so many powerful options, the biggest shakeup in the game since launch and I applaud your efforts. Could be terrifying but it won’t be boring.
You’re beginning to try to argue like you’re in a court, essentially if you start producing macros and anet detect it you will have your account suspended or banned THEN you’ll need to have this conversation with anet to get it restored (they might not listen).
Decide if you want that risk, take it or just buy the gaming mouse.
No one here can say “oh yes this is definitely ok because you’ve argued your case so well” and force anet to hold to it. The detection and suspension might even be automated and I’m not sure if this thread builds evidence for your defense or the side that keeps you banned.
If you want to take it seriously you need to put some effort in to learn how to play and what all the effects in the game do, then you can try unranked queue. You won’t find anyone who takes hotjoin seriously (its that way by design) but all the other issues you mention can be fixed by you learning to play better (it might take some time and research).
I think to give it a long cast time. say 10 to 15 seconds. This way… Leave combat> Start cast> Any damage or hostile incoming intterupts> Takes 10-15 seconds that you cannot move. Then you have swapped. This would prevent players from abusing it. Also not sure if it would be a good thing in sPvp.
Your build is locked once the game starts in PvP anyway so its not an issue there.
You might want to look at a gaming mouse, they have extra buttons on them and will allow you to use your right hand to do more of the work.
I love the Minstrel it has great details and colours but I would like some extra effects on used skills (Mesmer curtain getting an effect) and some footfalls/aura/swap effect.
The Necro and Ranger just need complete re designs from how their mechanics work, their traits, weapon skills, and utilities to be viable imo. Unless Anet feels like nerfing 6 other professions.
Anyone who mains the classes sees what’s its like when you can’t drop focus or peel out, support your team, have mechanics that hinder the class in serveral ways, has no port capabilities to make them a wanted roamer/skirmisher, get countered by all the other zerker classes, it’s just a litany of problems.
It’s no coincidence they’re not in any viable teams besides Abjured running Nos (great player don’t get me wrong), who have no competition in NA to show why necro is a liability until they face EU teams.
I don’t venture to the ranger forums much but I know necro forums have pointed out the obvious flaws for years, and it’s just frustrating the lack of response from anet. Like we’re just now about to get to needed trait reworks. Well great, but other classes who had more proper traits and set ups are getting even better as well. They still haven’t touched the core designs such as mechanics or weapons, or have shown any signs in bringing down the amount amount of mobility/invulns/blocks/support of the other classes for them to compete at an equal level.
Yeh Ranger is flawed too. It needs broken stuff to compete like their current longbow dps.
Rangers, like necro, need a heal with no counterplay if they are to become viable. Otherwise good thieves will always lock you down and never let you heal because of this:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/HeadshotIn addition, I cannot believe we are 3 years into the game and stuff like ranger shouts are still in the state they are in lol. They will be rivaled for terribleness by the new necro shouts I suppose.
At this point, I really don’t understand your logic. Wouldn’t removing stuff with no counterplay be better for the game than actually adding more?
I agree. But that was plan A. Plan A got discarded a long time ago. Thief in particular has dozens of skills, traits and mechanics which offer no counter play. There is now so much stuff with no counter play in the game that the only solution is to make it a level playing field and just give everyone no counter play type stuff. So I would personally reduce the cast time of all ranger heals and necro heals to 1/2 a second to bring them in line with healing turret.
Henry stick to plan A, if you end up buffing everyone to the realm of “no counterplay” then no one knows whats balanced any more. When you hear a Thief defending one of their skills and you think “how can they not understand O_o” thats the mindset you’ll inflict on everyone with your plan B.
No to instant cast Corrupt, no to 1/2sec cast Consume and tone down your buff for Enfeebling Shroud. Stick to rational things (though you might have burned that bridge with your other class nerf threads xD).
Would love the ability to save multiple builds and armour sets and swap between, was a great feature of the original and hope they bring it here.
Instant cast Corrupt Boon I would vote against (getting to turn stab into fear or vigor? into weakness when you’re stunned is a bit yuck) and would prefer EITHER the Bleed OR Weakness was restored to Enfeebling Shroud not both. Other than that they seem ok atm – though I have not a clue what the meta will become after the next update so everything might need nerf’d again xD
Why doesn’t Guild Wars 2 have a barber shop? Instead it cost 250 gems to simply change your hair style.
/thread gj
I understand. So we are saying three things, basically:
1. Increase rewards for winning matches and doing well. People will try harder to win to get loot. Maybe have enemies drop loot bags or give better/more rewards after every match.
2. Build templates, or something to reduce wait time. I agree here as well.
3. Have some kind of ladder or threshold to keep those with really low MMR in their own league. So if you afk enough you’ll not get matched up with those looking for a good game.
I will say that the rewards for playing PvP are really not worth it. I keep trying to get my brother to play PvP but he won’t because farming nodes or SW is so much more rewarding, and he needs to have every legendary in the game… I mean… He’s my brother!!!
3. Doesn’t do anything but make people quit the game once they feel they are in the bottom league. Announcing it as policy that there is a threshold blocking people from playing with invested players would be the death of new or struggling players.
everyone loves /boo

WvW and PvE are the same thing, you cannot have 1 getting full unlock without affecting the other. PvP will have the option to buy the traits just as before no doubt.
WvW is just PvP in a PvE style environment… a hybrid of the game modes
it would not be difficult to seperate them entirely Anet simply have choosen not topeople can argue WvW is PvE but it isnt.. it just shares elements
and since the core focus of WvW is to fight other players that defaults it as PvP content
PvE shares every element with WvW, and character skill unlocks is one of them, you cannot separate them. You can argue that WvW should use the PvP system but that isn’t what this thread is about.
1) WvW retains the PvE character and does not have the option to unlock traits.
2) WvW changes to PvP system and gets the option to unlock PvP versions of traits.
Choose 1) or 2).
Now is not the time to consider buffing any condi weapon imo, let the update hit and let us see if anything needs changed afterwards.

The best solution is this:
- Allow players a way to turn skill point scrolls into Hero Points
- Players that don’t want to do this don’t have to and therefore can take part in this new progression system
- Players that don’t want to have to go earn stuff they have already earned can use their skill points for hero points
This would allow everyone to play the game how they want to play it.
The new system is not optional xD Its the foundation of the whole specialisation progression.

Another massive shove from Anet to try and pigeonhole players into playing one or if your lucky, two toons.
I have around 30 level 80 toons, probably use ten of them on a fairly regular basis.
So that’s between 650 and 1950 times I need to hunt around pve maps doing stuff I don’t want to do to unlock build variance on my characters and have a chance at making either my existing build or a new one (as many builds are killed off by the new trait system/wvw changes).
Not to mention probably needing different armor sets on quite a few of them.
I’m glad this isn’t a grindy Korean MMO, I’d hate to see what they did then….
The more I read of this expansion the less enthusiastic I am about it. But I’ll probably still buy it, for whenever I come back to the game more regularly.
You over extended yourself, Anet can’t restrict systems dependent on people who have 30 characters. Complaining you need to do a lot of things because you chose to create so much for yourself to do is kinda silly.
Also worth noting AGAIN, you will have access to 400/465 on EACH of those characters – you wil be able to make a few builds on each no problem.

Better solution would be to just give all PvP and WvW players full access to all skills and lvl 80 upscale as soon as the enter the PvP and WvW areas
since many people who play WvW and PvP don’t give a crap about PvE then why should they be forced to play it.. nah just let them have it.. It wont effect us PvE players anyway and WvW is more a PvP area so should function more like it
this way everyones happy
PvE gets new system PvE players like
PvP and WvW doesnt get effected by it at alleveryone wins
WvW and PvE are the same thing, you cannot have 1 getting full unlock without affecting the other. PvP will have the option to buy the traits just as before no doubt.
Some unanswered questions:
- How many achievement points do you get from just playing PvP, and not specifically doing the daily? How many achievement points should he have, that you would consider him an experienced PvP player?
- How did he play? Maybe he was a twink account?
- Does somebody know, with which MMR new players are starting?
- How are you playing, that your MMR seems to match the one of new players? Du you need some help?
How did he play?
He had trouble making it out of the spawn.…and I suppose I’m getting matched with new players for two reasons:
PvP is dead.
I haven’t seriously played ranked since the last ladder reset….. I’m at 5 wins 0 losses…. but I’m afraid to even enter ranked anymore because I always seem to get “little timmy” who just got the game for his birthday on my team.
So you’ve won every game even with the guy you mentioned above on your team, doesn’t that mean the enemy team has a similar calibre of player? The best solution to get “out of range” of them is to keep playing and winning.
By your own admission you haven’t played since the reset and it’ll just take time and games to solve it.

You people are insane.. You will unlock 400/465 by being 80 – you will have more than enough choices with zero work done except being 80 to make whatever build you want.
And “FOR WHAT?” … For a massive overhaul of traits with tons of buffs and new ways to play… Get a grip xD
I have never experienced this behaviour – are you sure you aren’t doing something wrong (just seems so odd that something can happen so consistantly and instantly)? Especially in open world stuff I can’t see people being AP demanding there.. Unless people are like this and I’ve just never noticed cause I’ve been playing since launch.
I like to level alts through the Ascalonian territory because it lets me kill more Charr.
All burns will behave like bleeds from now on, as in if you cause 2 burns there will be 2 stacks of burn (each stack lasting the duration of the individual application), if someone else casts a burn aswell there will be 3 stacks of burn each stack ticking dependent on their caster and the duration of each stack independent too. Exactly how bleeds act now.
Bleed should be easier to come by and longer and Burn rarer and shorter duration – though looking at the amont of burn running around atm I don’t know how true that would be..
You had 2 months break, you’re not playing as well as you used to, isn’t that a more likely explanation? Don’t think we’ve had any significant changes in the last 2 months.
Maybe something about 80g when they introduced the Champ bags, other than that nothing leaps to mind. Not been the luckiest with big drops.
They design encounters with vuln in mind – it needs to be a good buff but not so high that groups without vuln aren’t made worthless. If they made it stack infinitely then groups stacking lots of vuln suddenly have a massive advantage over nonvuln stacking groups (they already do I know but not such a huge one that it breaks the game).
Remember its balanced around encounter design and PvP.
Well there will be a BIG meta change soon with a huge overhaul to Conditions and all specs are going through a large update – it will be worth coming back to see them alone and how they alter play.
End game PvE is still pretty much the same but hopefully the expansion will add some exciting stuff.
I’d suggest popping on and seeing the next update and how it affects your class, you can always log off again if you don’t feel its enough to keep your attention til the exp.
First.
1.) Reaper will have its design centered on chill.
BUT
a.) Chill will not affect Movement skills’ Distance traveled.
b.) Chill does not affect thieves’ weapon skills.
- Thieves relax I don’t hate you, It just happens your weapon skills are immune to chill, It could be any other class, It just happens to be you.
So, you designed an ELITE specialization which its design is mostly designed around chill, and you give this changes?
SECOND
2.) Along with the premise of the new chill, Do you know how crazy warriors/classes run away from fights? (GS, sword leap, and other movement skills) without these
changes? So with the next changes, what were you thinking? Not all classes have reliable gap closers, and then you eliminate the possibility of them to catch up with these classes?
What grounds are you basing these absurd changes?
This is just a guess so I might be way off. I think they’ve been doing a lot of testing with the new specs including the Reaper, found that the chill uptime made playing melee based classes with leaps very upsetting and so nerf’d chill because they introduced something with broken chill uptime (some might say “why didn’t they nerf the Reaper chill uptime?” to which I reply “anet” – I’m not trying to be mean but they have definitely done this “nerf the other thing after we made something else OP” before).
